Just want to throw this in... it's nice to see an actual intelligent human sharing real information. The more I watch your videos the more I appreciate your content. Thank you! If you visit GA USA I've got a place for you to chill and shoot. Only 10 acres but lots of area to shoot. Cheers mate
Wow! That's a lot to digest. Gonna have to watch this a few times. Thanks so much for taking the time to put this together so we have such a good reference to refer to!! Keep shooting!!
Thanks Matt, I'm new to the Impact and have been struggling to fine tune my Sniper for slugs. This is the first time I have watched a video that clearly explains the process and more importantly how the tuning process works. Please keep educating us.
Loved that video. Really appreciate the informative videos and actually like the longer videos as they are more entertaining than most crap on tv. Thanx for the great info cheers
I've struggled tuning slugs since i installed the pp. like you said with the light spring the valve adj.almost has no affect and that was how i fine tuned before. i was just heading out to tune when i saw your video. i turned back the fine hmr adj screw and worked it and the reg up to my target speed on hmr #3. so here's where things get interesting. i shot from #1 to max hmr and the groups were nothing to brag about. my best was 1/2 inch at 40 yrds. i was just about to start messing with reg and fine hmr when it hit me the a to e side of the hammer i never used. I started on C with the same result. then i hit the money with the B setting. it went from 1/2 inch on C to 4 shots in one hole at 40 yrds on B. it must have been just enough to hit the right node because the fps didn't really change. thanks for the advise and i hope this helps anyone else thats having a hard time. it might not work on every gun but its worth giving it a try.
I feel ya man, I threw every available upgrade to my impact X . I could get 975fps with a .217 jsb knockout out of a 700mm at 150reg. The gun wasn't happy , HS was on max with no more adjustment. On my new mk2 there is more power. I swapped my barrel and probe to the new gun and I get 985fps with the same slug on setting 3, 150bar, with plenty of adjustment left on my HS. FX must have done a few less obvious improvements between models. My experience is with 25.39gn slugs.. Matt's custom gun numbers are with a 34gn . Good luck
Wow! this is like an encyclopedia of FX power tuning! Thank you Matt! I am enormously appreciative of your willingness to share with the community this wealth of hard to come by information, which is the practical outcome of many years you spent experimenting and observing. Thanks, mate!
Thanks Matt, this is great knowledge sharing for I am converting my Maverick to a slug gun with the 600mm barrel. Looking forward to great hunting days. Thanks for being so passionate about PCPs!!!
Excellent, excellent video Matt. Very educational. I don't own, or shoot, a high power PCP. I have a Gamo Urban PCP that I use for pesting sparrows and starlings from my bluebird nesting boxes at 25-35 yards. I could never afford the high end PCPs and accessories that you use in your videos. I did watch the entire video though, and found it most interesting. You truly are an expert in this area for sure. Thanks for taking the time and effort to make this video. I did enjoy watching it. 👍👍👍 Geo from Kazoo, MI USA
wow this video taught me SO much.... i just ordered my first FX Airgun, a Maverick Compact in .22 and this video teaches everything you need to know. I watch your videos since a few weeks, since i am into airgunning, but this masterpiece got you my subscription. Top.
The best video I have seen to get the most out of the FX Impact - Maverick, very well explained. I have quite a bit of knowledge of this rifle, but I learned a lot of new things from this video. I have my impact .30 power plenum with an extra external plenum modifying a total of 113cc of plenum, valve housing, kit the potentia of the .35 pin probe harder spring, modified dual transfer port, and huma regulator, it was giving me 1030 fps with NSA 65g, after watching the video I have increased the throttle pressure by lowering the speed to 1005 fps and it has improved the precision remarkably. Thanks.
What a wealth of usable information this gentlemen from downunder has provided here. Anyone reading this should make the time to watch this whole episode, you may just learn something. Cheers mate......from Philly Pennsylvania, the former united states of America
I know it's off the subject but as you're involved with the Element scopes please seriously consider that many shooters use different projectiles through the same rifle. The elevation turret cap is a relatively cheap item and I believe many shooters would love to be able to buy them separately. With these we would not have to redo the distance "tape", just simply change the cap. Perhaps extra caps could be included in the scope box on purchase. Choosing between 2 similar priced and quality scopes I think many shooters would choose the one with extra caps. Always value your technical videos. Most of what Ive learned has come from them and this one is very usefull. thankyou
I love the video, am new in high power Airguns and my first one is a panthera 700, I had so many questions before this video but now is all set! Thanks a lot for your help! Greetings from Mexico 🇲🇽🌮
Superb video Matt. Tuned my .25 700 superior heavy with PP, SPK and huma transfer port to shoot h&n 34 grn .249 at 950 fps. 1 shot at 100 yards and bird down.
Thanks Matt, there is so much intuition involved with tuning these air guns especially the Impact. I wish someone would make an animated video of clearly showing what is going on in the inside the gun from the tank to the end of the barrel. To hear a veteran every day shooter like Matt talk about the harmonics and listening to sound is daunting for a newbie like me. I have a Mark ii that I need to turn up for heavier slugs. At least three variables have to be harmonized. to get it to shoot satisfactory. I'll have to get my hands dirty...or send it to Ernest. Lol
Can you please make a video or just share information about the potential of maverick for shooting both, pellets and slugs with just changing the power wheel and stock hammer and pellet probe. How precise can maverick be with the two ammos and what is the power level that can be achieved without losing accuracy. I think most of the viewers will be interested in this and for me it is the deciding factor to buy the maverick or not.
Damn you Matt Dubber. You’ve convince me to crank my .30 Maverick back to 170 bar. Last time I was up at 160 it barked and didn’t shoot well. It’s full of all the slug parts. It’s shooting decent at 125bar. I have a Impact now, so that’s my daily shooter. Cranking the Maverick and shooting 64 Javelins for hunting is probably what it should be allocated to.
Appreciate this very much. Great information and should be most helpful. One of the best parts of this hobby/sport is the open sharing of valuable information to others to allow their success if they are willing to do the effort.
Matt, great video. yup, would liked to have seen this sooner, but lots of info, all relevant. breaking down the different parts of video on the timeline was a great idea, makes it easy to go back over stuff i forgot, missed or want to quickly refresh on. well done
THANK YOU MATT! You’ve just answered my theory @37:25. Love your work and the fact you share your experiences. We appreciate what you do. Mahalo Matt🍍👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🍍🤙🏽🤙🏽
Thanks for talking about barrel harmonics and mentioning that even you have to contend with hold sensitivity. All this time... I've been wishing for an Impact because my cheapo bullpup is hold sensitive 😔. Knowing that its par for the course is good know. I watch you guys make these incredible shots so easily that I think often times we think it's just the high end gear.
Back to watching this again, going on 2 years trying to get my m3 to shoot slugs with no success lol I’ve never got better than 1” groups at 50. Shoots the wings off a fly with pellets but I wanted to shoot slugs haha back to learning from the basics I must have missed something.
Hi great show, when I eventually get my first PCP a wild cat sniper, what I have picked up from your show will help greatly. The huben was my first choice however it seams they will never be available in Australia, the fx is taking 3 to 4 months. I also ordered a 30 cal kit , there were mumblings of end of year or 2022 . We live in a strange time of high speed data and courier snails ! Cheers
Thanks for the video Matt. Just received my Impact a few weeks ago after the long wait. Can’t get javelins at the moment so Utah AG tuned it to the Nielsen 31.2. Out of the box it’s a laser at 100 yards! Looking forward to trying the 34 or 40 when we can get them again. Love the gun! Nice work!

Huge thank you Matt for sharing your knowledge and experience. Makes me wish I was back in Zim so I could hang out with you sometime. Currently waiting for my first FX to arrive. I opted for the Maverick. Can’t wait to put your tuning guid into practice! You’re awesome.
A great video and loads of information. At some time I would love you to do a similar video for shooting pests (rats, pigeons and sparrows) inside barns and other structures where slugs seem likely to do some damage to the structures. From your great hunting videos, the slugs at the velocities and ranges you are shooting still seem to have plenty of energy after passing through a dassie.
Thank you so much for sharing this, and all the other, informative video! Its nice knowing that I have a reliable source of information that I can turn to. Purchased my first pcp a couple months ago, an Impact mk II .30 and I would be so lost if it wasn't for you. You help me keep my head above water. I live in Florida and with the temps rising fast here I realize I quickly need to find a way to dry the the air I am putting into my Impact from my small compressor. Do have a economical way to effectively achieve water removal. Thanks in advance.
Thanks Matt! Great info and good timing! This spring I want to try 25 grain slugs in my Impact - I'm hoping that I can shoot JSB Redesigns and slugs with same tune. With any luck, JSB will come out with a Hades Redesign pellet for mid range (75 - 100 yard) hunting.
I wonder if next year's RMAC will have a weird tripod challenge. Hope FX whips up some high-quality modular compact PUMP airgun. VPP variable pressure pneumatic. Thanks Matt. 😊
Awesome 👌 I'll try out these tricks tomorrow with my compact maverick. It's been really frustrating but again I'm just learning and doing the opposite of what you said. I can let you know if it works if any one cares that is
Thank you for the informations given although I do not own any air rifles, I enjoyed the explaination you have given. You are indeed the Guru of Tuning the air rifles of all time. I wonder if you would do more of this kind of tutorials. Today I only realize that the movies with all the shootings are not real.... they need to have all the steps that you have explained just now inorder to hit a target... Damn.... I thought the accuracy in a Cowboy and Red Indian movies are really that accurate....52 years of my life.. I have been lied to....gosh....
A friend and I we did a test at 100 meters with fx impact 22 with slugs 36 grains at 1012 fps, with impact 30 with slugs of 49.5 grains at 1005fps, the damage caused was significantly higher with 30. The other The logical difference is the 22 has a flatter trajectory but the terminal energy at the target is higher with the 30 cal.
Great video👍, I would like to have a diagram made by you with the various calibrations of the regulator / swing mass etc..etc .. for each type of slug / pellet with its own specific weights in order to verify correct functioning on the Impact..Thx Matt🍻
Great video ! I have been running with the slug power kit in my impact x powerplenum 22 for some months and this video was a game changer. Tried your tuning method today and It looks very promising. The only thing I wish to have more information on is how too tune for lighter slugs like 25 gr with the slug power kit. Thank you
To be honest, I think you may be better off with the standard power Impact if you’re using 25gr slugs as that’s very light for a 700mm barrel... 600mm barrel though, it may be a great setup. You will still get the 700 to work well but mayne not as well as if you had the standard hammer and standard valve return spring.
@@AirArmsHuntingSA Thank you for the reply. I was thinking maybe a bit lower reg like 150 might work with the 25 grains . But it might be to low for the slug power kit? I also have 600 mm barrel so I might swap. Thank you . Continue the good work
No doubt this is one of the best videos, but !!! I also think we should all watch some of your old videos to remember the small things. "KISS" keep it simple stupid. We could be inducing issues by trying to hard to be great, and forgetting to just do the basics.
Time and money imo to shoot a 2000€ sub12 gun:) I feel for you guys 👊🏻 but on the plus side the hunting scene in UK is very much alive and incorporated in laws whereas in most of Europe it’s just forbidden to shoot in public, period so basically no shooting where anyone can see you. Ruins all opportunities for fun outdoors shoot and/or pestcontrol

Great info Matt, Thanks!
ผมฟังคุณไม่ค่อยเข้าใจ แต่ผมชอบที่คุณบรรยายครับ 👍
Nice video Matt and can you tell us what's your Hammer spring gap measurement? Thanks to share it with us
Wow..amazing..so perfect shot..👍
I am big fan of you brother
May Good bless you bro 🖤🖤
Awsome video. Really informative but to the point. Very helpful regardless of level of knowledge
Great job Matt. I do have .22 CAL Maverick Sniper on order form UA. This just confirmed I picked the right cal. Now if it ever gets here.
Thank you so much. Great information.
You certainly know your stuff 😊
Thank you . Continue the good work
Awesome video! Tons of great info. I love my stainless steel barrel housing. What a difference it makes. Can't wait to try the Javelin slugs!
Loved tha vídeo! I´m from Portugal and i have the FX Impact M3 Sniper .22. Best regards Matt!
The video I been waiting for!! Dankie👍👍
No doubt this is one of the best videos, but !!! I also think we should all watch some of your old videos to remember the small things. "KISS" keep it simple stupid. We could be inducing issues by trying to hard to be great, and forgetting to just do the basics.
Great vid Bro I just wish we could have this power in the UK the FX is a fantastic gun but I think a wast of time in sub 12fb ! I may just move to SA
Great Job Buddy!
Thanks Matt with out this video I would not have bought my Impact MK2. I don't spend that money with any info on how to use it.
Got to save this one.
