Went to a reptile expo and bought a huge boa and got really hungry but my house was a while away and i decided to stop at a a taco bell and couldnt leave it in the car so i took it in and evry one was cool and some even got pics
Might just be an American thing though, most other countries are more reserved and polite. Americans tend to be very loud, outspoken and only aware of themselves, when they come here I notice they stand right in the way of everyone without seeming to notice and just make so much noise, doesn’t happen with natives though
I sell my art at gaming and anime conventions, and god damn, every bit of expo etiquette you go over here is such a mood. People stopping to chat with their friends directly in front of you table is such a thing.
So I was at a show up in Dallas and I saw a woman with her daughter who were interested in buying a snake for a pet, but didn’t know what type was best or how to take care of it. so I led them to a table with some easy beginner snakes and gave a run down of what each needs and how they act. she decided on a milk snake so I gave a more detailed description of what they need and when they’ll need it, at the end of it I pointed her to the tables with the best deals. afterwards I realized I took an hour out of my day to become a salesman and I was pretty good at it.
Done that LOTS!! ALWAYS trying to pour as much information into a new reptile owner as I possibly can. I have even given out my cell number so if they had ANY questions about their new pet they could call or text me. I have 30 plus years of reptile keeping/breeding experience and knowledge that I want to give to new enthusiasts. I have read soo many reptile books!! Even knowledge of reptiles that I don't even own! JUST LOVE REPTILES! Its my hobby and I am passionate about it.
I appreciate you mentioning the *appropriate* way to bring your children along. I homeschool my daughters and they love going to events like this, and I really value you giving genuine advice, instead of just passively saying "don't bring them"
Yes me and my siblings are homeschooled too even though my sister's an adult now when we were younger my mom would always bring us to the zoo and other places like the aquarium where you can touch animals she always taught us to be kind to people and never get in the way and don't touch or break anything unless you plan on buying it
These are wonderful tips for any animal expo! :) Some more: 1. Don't gossip about other vendors to another vendor (this is very rude and it's just better to be polite) 2. If a vendor starts to get customers and you're chatting a lot with them, it's totally fine to be like "Looks like you're getting customers! Let me move outta the way so they can get a chance to talk to you too. Thank you for chatting with me!" 3. Best deals are on the last day 👌
@@SnakeDiscovery what kind of Geckos are the black ones with the colorful stripes at the beginning of this video and I know this is late but I'm a fairly recent subscriber to the channel and I'm slowly going back and bing watching all of your videos because I've seen all the newer one's and I can't get enough of the channel and I used to own a Leopard Gecko but he sadly passed away about 3½ years after I got it but I don't know how old it was when I got it because I was atleast I think I was the 2nd owner and they had to rehome it so I bought it and I got it from someone on Graigslist when people still shopped on their now people shop on Marketplace
My brother used to carry his ball python with him everywhere. I don't know if it was unique to Walter (probably was), but the he loved it and went into many stores. The town loved Walter to be honest. (We lived in a smaller area)
one time power went out in the winter and i brought my beardie in a library with me in my hoodie, no one complained and i brought my leopard gecko in a chipotle and no one noticed. if you’re not attention seeking it’s almost always perfectly okay!
I wanna see those do's and don'ts for reptile vending and online shopping. I mean its not like i will ever need them, just fun to watch, and may help some other people
1. Prepare enclosures before you go. 2. Decide when you want to go. 3. Leave your pets at home. 4. Pack accordingly. Many vendors don't accept card or checks, and ATMs run out of cash. Bring water and a backpack. 5. Keep an eye on your kids. 6. Be mindful of where you are standing. Don't hang out in an aisle or in front of a vendor. 7. Ask before taking pictures or videos of a vendor's animals. 8. Don't be afraid to ask questions, but do not waste their time if you do not intend to buy the animal. 9. Learn where the animal of interest come from. 10. Don't expect to hold all animals. 11. Don't set animals in another vendor's table. 12. Keep new reptiles somewhere safe and dark. (backpack or bag) 13. Some bartering is okay, but don't low ball them. 14. Grab breeder's business card. 15. Do not impulse buy! 16. Don't let vendors force you into a sale. 17. Keep new reptiles safe on their way home. Do not handle them. 18. Bring new reptiles straight home. If you absolutely HAVE to go somewhere else, sneak the reptile in. 19. Quarantine new animals. (At least 30 days, but three months is better) 20. Leave reptiles alone to settle in. (Especially Hognose snakes)
I've sold leopard geckos at expos in the past, and just attended one this weekend. Something has always bothered me. Why do sellers cram their animals into tiny containers? I would have my geckos in plastic shoebox sized bins, so they had plenty of space. You can get them at the Dollar Tree. But this weekend, I actually saw a crested gecko in a plastic tub that had its head flipped upside down and was having trouble turning around. Can we normalize larger containers? I did end up purchasing an animal from a vendor, and he had put all his animals in cute decorated containers that were spacious. A few even had theirs in big rubbermaid tubs. It's just sad knowing those animals were squished in those containers for 8+ hours.
Hey! incase you weren't aware yet the reason is essentially bc they feels safer in smaller spaces as they are less vulnerable-- essentially it keeps (most) reptiles much more calm-- think kinda like how you don't see hides tha5t are 4 ft long for a 6in lizard :)
"Because it's cute, and it's small, only to have it turn into a 200lb+ sulcata tortoise..." Yeah... I was not amused when my wife brought home a little baby tortoise that would outlive us by many years, and grow bigger than us. BTW, did you know it's impossible to house train a tortoise? Did you know an indoor sulcata can, and will, move your furniture? Guess how bad their poop smells... (thank god we now have a larger house, with an actual back yard...)
I've also seen kids smack and tap on the snake displays and pick up and nearly walk off with animal deli containers before. Also, i can't tell you how many times I've been hit by or have seen others be hit by strollers. I personally find stroller-etiquette to be the most infuriating lol.
Being a mourning gecko breeder but also a single parent, sometimes I have no choice but to bring my son. But he stays in his stroller and knows not to touch. Just because some people created bad experiences for others doesn't mean that it should be ruined for all ☹️
I think children should be allowed because if they're genuinely interested in those animals, that's a great way to see so many species in person. It's all about the parents and how they raise their kids to behave. Not ever child is rude or hyper enough to cause problems.
I will admit to my own mistake. My 1st time going to an expo I had my around 1.5yr old in a stroller. I thought it would be better to restrain her, I really did. I WAS SO WRONG. She had a lap full of crested gekos in those deli containers in her lap in the stroller. I was busy looking at a snake and didnt realize she was the perfect height to just drag them into her stroller. She didnt know any better. I was so glad I realized before she opened them or we walked off. NEVER AGAIN. We ended up putting the stroller in the car. I'd say if you have kids maybe not bring a stroller there isnt much space for them and it gives parents a false sense of security that their kid is contained lol if possible maybe just leave the little ones at home or hold them because accidents happen
Mochii _Senpai I don’t because there’s a lot of people taking their kids to pick out an animal but definitely parents need to be take care of their kids and make sure they’re in line and for sure and there should be rules
We got a scorpion at our first ever expo.... I opened the container in the car because I wanted a picture... I can’t say who was more terrified, me, or the very very very agitated scorpion. Luckily the situation was very quickly resolved but lesson learned!
All good points. If i may add one: If you hold a reptile, (or a couple from the same vendor), wash hands before going to another vendor and asking to hold another one, (honor system).
Im new, and Ive never been in an expo, and I'm gathering info to get a snake (most likely a corn snake because I've heard they're easy to take care of) , so may I ask why?
AdEs Draws you know how we have quarantine so disease won’t spread and how the USA can’t go places atm same with reptiles it’s basically like taking a trip to Florida then going and coughing all over a supermarket in Canada you take the disease and from one vender to the next hope that makes sense
That makes sense, it feels disrespectful at first thought though, like if you wash your hands after a handshake but it being a courtesy makes more sense due to them possibly carrying diseases that could possibly infect other stalls
Do: Shower before going to the expo, in a packed warm expo hall standing shoulder to shoulder, body odor can be overpowering. Don't: Use perfume or cologne and skip the scented hand cream. Again a packed warm expo hall doesn't need your cologne and any critter you touch will be exposed to your chemically scented creams. Do: Ask random people what they bought if they are proudly clutching a deli cup, most likely they are super proud of their purchase and you get to see some of the animals that were bought earlier in the day. (great for killing time while waiting to see a popular vendor) Don't: Let your (younger) child ask to hold every animal they see... My daughter would unabashedly ask every vendor to hold one of every animal if we'd let her. The vendors that heard a negotiation on her max number of cuddle requests either applauded her for her restraint or gave an educational explanation on why the critter probably wasn't up for being held. Love the business card binder idea, I let her collect business cards to share with dad, maybe if they were in a binder they wouldn't all get used for crafts...
I'll be honest, I impulse bought at the expo recently... I have owned reptiles almost all my life but never a tarantula. I have always they thought they were cool but unachievable. After talking to a vendor and them explaining what goes into keeping them we decided to buy a really nice curly hair sling. One of the best purchases ever. She (I hope) is such a cool creature and I have been watching a ton of videos on how to keep this spider. To be fair, all of the vendors were really nice and took their time explaining to the buyer on how to care for the animal. We immediately went home to set this little one up.
Do: Send a quick email/text/msg after the show to vendors you talked with thank them for answering your questions, compliment their animals, ask questions, and send cute "baby" pics. I love these quick notes (sending & receiving). Don't: For the guys, don't imply or outright say that you doubt a woman's ability to handle or care for reptiles or that they aren't actually the reptile person. I have had male vendors at expos imply it or outright say it when I've asked about a snake or lizard--especial larger species. One vendor even turned to my husband (not a reptile person) to answer the question I had just asked the vendor and proceeded to try to start a conversation about snakes. He made my husband so uncomfortable that my husband literally stepped behind me, then walked away.
i once went to the reptile expo in eau claire wi, and i overheard one of the vendors tell a woman that a sulcata tortoise would stay the size of a coffee mug.
A breeder told my mother that when I got my first snake at a convention. The sad part is they had an adult next to their table in full view while they said it
It's funny this comment matches another that said that their wife brought one home because it was small and cute. Honestly though that's sad. if venders truly cared about their reptiles they wouldn't lie to get it to sell. If a person gets more than what they asked for they could end up neglected.
as a 12 year old who's into the hobby, it's very overwhelming making sure my dad gets the right stuff. He has some knowledge of reptiles as he used to have them before I was born but I still feel some info is outdated. These videos very much help
I highly respected one vendor at an Reptile/exotic animal expo. She was selling lovebirds that still needed to be bottle fed, and she refused to sell the tiny birds to anyone who didn't have any experience.
@@cathyt144 Thank you for the correction, but that wasn't what the comment was focused around. It was about the women not selling her birds to just anyone
My son loved being at his first expo and he was so good 🥰 im very thankful to have such a calm little guy. Doesnt hurt that hes a tad shy 😅 he got a plush "banana snake" while we were there and carries it around all the time now. He loves snakes. He had an opportunity to touch a couple real snakes while we were there but he was a little nervous so decided not to ha maybe next time. His 3rd birthday is right around the same time as the next expo in our area and im so excited to take him again. Since the first one we got a leopard gecko and he adores him 🥹 he loves helping me with feedings and is sooo gentle. Im stoked I have a respectful lil reptile lover for a kid🥰
For the bartering thing, I actually never thought about that. My fiancé and I got an adorable ball python and the breeder gave us a discount without us asking. Guess we just got lucky haha
Lin C. - I got 3 of my ball pythons that way. If you’re polite, and genuinely interested in buying that animal, most vendors will work with you. A vendor gave my wife an adult male Crested gecko, because she said she could sense the animal was going to a good home. We’re going to buy a female from her at the next expo to breed with him.
The best deals, in my experience, come right at the end of the show, particularly from vendors that have travelled considerable distances. And you often aren't limited just to animals. A vendor showing large enclosures will often make a deal just so they can save themselves one awkward trip to the truck.
Same sort of thing for me, by breeder knocked $50 off because she wanted to hold her back and breed her herself, but they kept her pied brother instead. She was really excited when I said I might breed her and she knocked the extra off if I said I’d send updates.
first thing that came to mind was that I'd just stare at how beautiful it was; probably name it Cookies (cookies n cream, anyone?) but I'm glad others found "UMMM?" as amusing as I did X'D
As someone who is knee to reptile keeping and hoping to attend my first expo in the near future this was incredibly helpful! I know things may be different now as opposed to pre covid but this has alot of correlation with general convention dos and donts. So thank you alot for this! Some I knee from my convention days some I never would have thought of!
saying 'leave it alone for a week' is something relevant with a lot of animals too. My family has 4 cats, two of them were super chill straight away, and the other two (one of them is specifically mine) hid for the first week. As my cat was a support animal for me, i had a huge meltdown thinking she didn't love me because she wouldn't come out from under my bed. My mum told me to give it time because she was just scared, and now we're inseparable and have been happy for almost 4 years now.
This reminds me of my old cat! He was really jumpy and scared the first few days and hid in my room under my bed for the first few days, he was really cuddly and friendly after he settled in though! He disappeared last year and I still miss him
When I got my two chinchillas from am old home I tried that then my parents had a go at me and my dad chased them around the cage before roughly grabbing them out. They dont trust me and they are so much work, but I do love them.
We recently had a dog stay at our house for the day (She belonhed to a freind and we wanted to see if the breed would work for us.) I repeadtly told my aiblings to give her some time to calm down. Its crazy how animals get anxiouse and nervouse in new spaces...almost like we do.
I could wish that people who are fanatic about mainstream topics (sports, music, drinking, comedy, etc) would take a LITTLE of that time to learn about the fascinating world around us. There's so much knowledge at our fingertips and people who are passionate about sharing it. Give 'em a chance.....
I know this is a couple of years after you posted, but thanks for this! I can't own reptiles, but I sure do love them, especially snakes. I want to go to an expo or show and while I'm an old hat at different types of expos and conventions, I've never been to one where there are things that are alive other than humans. Excellent video, and thanks for it!
The last 2 expos ive been to the same breeder tried to pressure me into buying a retic... lol like no im not just going to buy a snake that gets very large just because you talked me into doing so.
That's not how they should act. They should care more about their animals welfare than just getting them sold. I'm glad you didn't give in. You did the right thing.
restaurant employee: "Everyone said I was crazy, but I knew I saw her and I wasn't crazy when I said I saw the snake head poke out her purse I KNEW IT!"
From personal experience: if you ask to handle an adult woma python at an expo, expect it to try to eat you. All those delicious smells. May well apply to kingsnakes too.
I know she's messy but holy crap it's so cute how happy Rex seems to be with you. From what I've gleaned from your videos about her origins, it's really wonderful to see her enjoying herself in the space you've worked so hard to provide for her. Kudos you guys.
Take some pocket hand sanitizer with you and sanitize your hands and a little bit up your arms after EVERY animal you've handled. It doesn't help against everything but it definetly lowers the risk of contamination.
last time i went to an expo, one certain kid was literally opening up every container of snake and trying to hold them. and the vendor kept telling him to be careful which snakes he picks up and that some of them are feistier than others and will bite. he continued to just hold all of the snakes for the duration of the expo.
Be aware of the temperature and weather the day you're going. I live in Alberta, Canada and if you go to a winter ir early spring expo it's important to bring an insulated container. The time it takes to walk through a parking lot at -30celcius can kill reptiles. Taking a heat pack in case if car troubles ir an accident is a good idea too.
Hi Emily! My daughter Emi LOVES reptiles because your videos INSPIRED her to love reptiles. This year (2021) April 10th, she is going to a Reptile Expo. She's is probably going to have so much fun seeing so much reptiles! And to everyone, stay safe!
Wild caught vs captive bred is always my biggest fear. I went to a show once and only one vendor had the species I spent 3 years preparing for. the problem is that I know it's about half and half for wild caught vs captive bred for this animal. When I asked they immediately got very defensive about. Turned me off right away as well as about 70+ people who heard the lady screaming about it.
icky micki Actually I almost disliked it just cause I hoped for some REAL good infos on how to pick a healthy animal from a good vendor etc and was disappointed that it is mostly an etique tutorial for people lacking common sense
Nino Circus Freak Thats not what is in he title, THE TITLE IS CLEARLY DO’s and don’ts of a reptile expo, it would obviously have nothing to do with what you thought
I found this channel recently and I’m so glad I stumbled upon it. Personally I have a huge fear of snakes but I’m also fascinated by them and love learning about them. Emily is a sweetheart I can tell she genuinely loves her animals it shows in the way she takes care of them. You can also tell this isn’t about money for her and she wants people to love reptiles as much as she does and I respect that.
Thank You for being so sweet to my daughter Avery and my niece Sophia earlier today. They‘ve been looking forward to Tinley Park Expo for 2 months, especially my niece Sophia, she was super happy to meet you, they both were but Sophia is more in to reptiles than Avery is. Nothing makes me happier than seeing the two most important people to me happy and if reptiles are one of the things that keep them smiling then so be it. Thanks for your help in educating them in herpetology as well as taking the time to greet them and making them feel like the special girls they are. Much appreciated!!!
“Her name is Sandy because they live in a really sandy area” Got me thinking about what if someone named their child like “the name’s Pillow because we live in a house with tons of pillows” Have no idea why lol
My family and I might be going to the Show Me Reptiles and Exotics show in Nashville this spring, so this video helps me learn about what to do while there. This'll be my first ever Reptile Expo, and since I plan to breed and sell snakes as my senior summer project, I need all the help I can get. Thank you Emily and Snake Discovery!
I’m so lucky with my dad, he has 20 years of experience with reptiles, had 40 reptiles and made massive custom enclosures (he had a literal MASSIVE room for his animals) we also have tons of spare equipment (my dad is ALSO the king of coming up with last minute solutions)
Emily: Another place to avoid standing for too long - like chatting with a friend - is right in front of a vendor's table, because- Me: -It's bloody rude!
I went to my first expo this friday (Good Friday) and I learned a lot, I can not buy a ball Python until I graduate college in three years but I am already saving up so I can buy a pretty nice snake and set up the year I graduate. The expo was a great learning opportunity and I took the advice this video gave and it was an amazing experience
I've snuck in a baby ball python with me at a restaurant after getting her at an expo last spring! No way was I leaving it in the car. They never knew 🤣
Raka Eala haha i did this after getting my baby, too, though I picked her up from the breeder’s house instead of an expo. She sat next to me in her little deli cup and no one even noticed lol
I feel you.. When I was looking for mine, I actually found only ONE person to sell ONE hognose (which is mine now), it's really crazy how many ball pythons and how few hognoses (and other snakes ofc.) is out there.
TheLazerTank A snake breakdown of most expos I’ve seen/been to: Ball pythons: 75% Various boa species: 10% Retics and Burms: 7% Corn/ king snakes: 5% Milk snakes: 2% Other (including hogs, bulls, and rarer species): 1%
At the expo I went to, there was two venders selling hoggies. One was selling a variety in age range and morphs (wanted $2000 for a snow female Hoggie) while the other was selling month old hoggies. Got a month old female Ablino het Conda Hoggie for $100, she was originally $150 but the buyer just gave her to us for $100. No bartering needed lol
I bought my Boa at an expo. I liked that I was able to hold her before I made any purchase. She sold herself with her friendly and curious personality. The vender didn't know anything about her other than she was 4 months old. A year and a half later and she's doing great. A family member more than a pet.
I think it’s more that you shouldn’t. Rex is an exception, Rex would be dead if (she?) was living in the wild. Don’t take home baby alligators, that’s why Rex can’t be in the wild; her snout is messed up because of improper care when she was younger.
@@JacquelineUnderwood Rex is indeed a she. To elaborate on the improper care she was given, she was kept in a four foot long box for twenty-something years and wasn't given a proper diet leading to stunting and deformities
germany ball actually no Snakes are very common pets and don’t really get any controversy except those who are scared of them Alligators, one of which is Emily’s pet, is what the original comment was referring to
My local expo has vendors selling every reptile supply you could imagine at a great discount, which I availed myself of. I didn't even think about it being a helpful thing to keep people from running errands after the expo!!
Thank you for this! I'm planning on going to an expo in two weeks to find a garter snake breeder... And now I know to take my youngest child with who is sensitive and not my oldest who always runs around and hides under tables!
My kiddo has watched your channel and at expos, can be a human encyclopedia from your information. At our 2nd show, herps in Conroe, TX, we adopted/bought a 2 1/2 yr old male banana ball. He's so chill through the move and rehoming. My child is so excited! Thank you for all the information!
I actually did the "taking my reptile inside with me when I''m running an errand after the expo" thing lol! When I got Piper, my ball python, I needed to stop at the store to get a temperature gun! I didn't have one, but after seeing how useful they are on your channel and then having Pip's breeder tell me where I could actually find one locally (right next door to the expo, funny enough!) I went to go grab one! Pip was very good at not being suspicious while we were there lol!
I just want to say that you are like the sweetest person! I love how nice and patient you are. And this video was so helpful. I’m really hoping to go to an expo in the next two months and buy my first corn snake! So thank you 😊
NixonDraws i never judged anyone. I simply asked why watch something that youre not even interested in ? Wasnt talking to you anyway. Move on little child,,,,,your crayons and koolaid are waiting.
I met a woman in Walmart last year who had a bearded dragon in her shirt. It was Walmart so I wasn’t surprised but when she saw that I was excited to see it, she promptly took it out and explained that she was on her way home from an expo and couldn’t leave her baby in the car. 😂 it was great. People of Walmart plus reptile expos= happy grocery shopping days!
My brother booped a ball python when me and my mom yelled at him not to and she jumped off him and on the floor.. We bought her and she is the sweetest snake in the world and is doing just fine. (had her for over a year now)
Hi this is ten months later I just wanna say that I’m glad you like the WOF series. I personally am waiting for book #14 also your snakes are so pretty!
(At a local rehab/rehome exotic shop) I bought a scorpion full price and came back to the same vendor to buy his other one because I was sooo happy with my new scorpion. He dropped 50% off for me and threw in some food! Super awesome!
I've wanted to go to reptile expos for a while now, but I wanted to wait until I was older (I got into reptiles at age 8-9), so I went to an expo when I was 12! I knew to be respectful of the vendors and I didn't hang around the tables too long. Came home with a tokay gecko who I named Kayako and I took great care of her. She wasn't super nice (since she was a tokay), but I treated her like any of my other reptiles. Sadly, she unexpectedly passed away early last year. I never knew anything was wrong with her, and she just died-- A family friend was able to get her cremated and the box still sits on my shelf. Off of the sad topic, I'm going back to the same expo tomorrow and I have decided to get a bearded dragon! I already have a nice tank set up, qnd I made sure the temperature was good and tonight I'm going out to get some veggies for when I return with them. I already have a variety of different insects since I have two leopard geckos and two frogs, so that's all taken care of already. Welp, I'll update this comment tomorrow when I have them!
You all just made me remember one of the first books I ever read, Dragon's Milk. I should see if I can find a copy. I was probably 9 read it. Thanks for helping me remember!
This is super helpful for any expo or just proper etiquette that should be common sense for any place that you attend. Another thing to consider with large groups and bringing an animal is that your animal can get harmed or harm others due to the amount of stimulus. If I were a vendor, I would have care institutions and specific geographic, genetic, and/or catch information for each animal premade. Like a post card for each animal.
@SnakeDiscovery please do a video on "Am I ready for a snake" Many people are surprised at reptile lifespans and the overall commitments required to provide a HEALTHY lifelong home.
You ma’am, you are smart lol I started skipping over the ad at the beginning till I seen you feeding some of your reptiles so I had to go back 🤣🤦🏻♀️ lool
@@theonearkysnakeyt4875 Its not bad....its called SOCIALIZING your animal! HOWEVER!! if I did bring my reptile with me DO NOT let all kinds of different people touch or hold your pet.
When I got my rosy boa at an expo, I followed all of this except for having the enclosure ready ahead of time because I didn't know if there would BE any rosy boas at the expo and I wasn't going to buy any animals unless there was a rosy within my price range. I certainly never left her unattended in a vehicle while picking up my supplies! I just left her at home with my dad in her deli cup, covered for her comfort, during the impromptu supply trip, and made sure she was set up the same day.
I had to beg my parents to get a cat, somehow I don't think they would let me get any exotic pet like a snake, well, I'll have to wait until I move out then...
okay I know I'm 2.5 years late but you have no idea how happy I got when you mentioned that you're listening to the wings of fire series!!! one of my old fixations is meeting a new one and I think that's really neat :)

You're amazing! You really helped them!
Storm Studio Productions thanks
Damn, way to go man. Appreciate you taking time out of your day to help her. R e s p e c t
You actually helped the snake by giving it better owners.
Some more:
1. Don't gossip about other vendors to another vendor (this is very rude and it's just better to be polite)
2. If a vendor starts to get customers and you're chatting a lot with them, it's totally fine to be like "Looks like you're getting customers! Let me move outta the way so they can get a chance to talk to you too. Thank you for chatting with me!"
3. Best deals are on the last day 👌
Wonderful additions!!

This!
I think it would be helpful. I want to buy a snake online, but I habe no idea where to start
(backpack or bag)
(At least 30 days, but three months is better)
Yes! It broke my heart to see that turtle at 4:40 with no room at all. Thank you for helping your geckos feel as cozy as they can!
Hey! incase you weren't aware yet the reason is essentially bc they feels safer in smaller spaces as they are less vulnerable-- essentially it keeps (most) reptiles much more calm-- think kinda like how you don't see hides tha5t are 4 ft long for a 6in lizard :)
If you were at an expo in my area, I would 100% but something from you. I love that you don’t cram your animals into tiny spaces!
@@IsaacLX3 Not when it's a clear container...
Lol I feel u
Edit : thanks for the likes u don't have to like my comment
My grandpa gave me his sulcata because he lives in a neighborhood, and we moved onto a ten acre property, but I actually really enjoy having him :)

@@alynsak By age limit, I'm sure they mean something completely reasonable like 6+, just old enough to tell that these are animals.
Oh okay thank you!
@Violetta Cai oh, makes sense, thanks again!
(great for killing time while waiting to see a popular vendor)
Don't: Let your (younger) child ask to hold every animal they see...
Omg. I went to one one time in Orlando. The body odor made me never want to go to another one. It was worse than walmart
We immediately went home to set this little one up.
impulse buying is fine when it comes to MOST invertebrates. tarantulas are incredibly easy to care for so impulse buying genuinely isn’t an issue
Good thing you did research
Really great tips and I hate that you had that experience
That’s really unfair but thanks for the tips hoping to get a snake one day 😊

i once went to the reptile expo in eau claire wi, and i overheard one of the vendors tell a woman that a sulcata tortoise would stay the size of a coffee mug.
Thats one big coffee mug.
😂😅🙂😣☹️🤮💩😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
That vender is lying. I have 1 and he's big. Maby 1foot long but we'll get bigger.

I highly respected one vendor at an Reptile/exotic animal expo. She was selling lovebirds that still needed to be bottle fed, and she refused to sell the tiny birds to anyone who didn't have any experience.

Sometimes if you're nice or super interested people will give you discounts without being asked. I've seen it happen a bunch at conventions
The ball python might have something wrong with it
Same sort of thing for me, by breeder knocked $50 off because she wanted to hold her back and breed her herself, but they kept her pied brother instead. She was really excited when I said I might breed her and she knocked the extra off if I said I’d send updates.
3:07 love how the owner just wrote “UMMM?” 😂
It looks like a ghost morph but I’m dumb so
However it's gorgeous!

Idk to me it looks like a cow morph but idk what vendors have them at this point they are beautiful with black spots and some yellow spots

Thank you for this! I'm planning on going to an expo in two weeks to find a garter snake breeder... And now I know to take my youngest child with who is sensitive and not my oldest who always runs around and hides under tables!
I would love a does and don’t on buying reptiles online
I would love to see hidden camera footage of Rex wreaking havoc on her toys & enclosure 😂
"She made it a sponge" LMFAO ed and his amazing one liners. I love it. AS ALWAYS WE WANT MORE ED!!!!
pockies i heard swamp lol
I think he said she made it a swamp lol
Swamp
So thank you 😊
Snake discovery: here are the do's and don't's for reptile expos
Me - probably never going to one, let alone buy a reptile there: YAAASSSSSS
SabrinaZ Lool def don’t have any reptiles and watch soooooo many reptile videos
Emily: *gives great advice*
Me: haha thanks I have no use for this.
Then why bother to watch a video on the subject? Bored much? 🤷♀️🙄
@@cathyt144 some people are interested in the subject of reptiles you shouldn't judge them too harshly
NixonDraws i never judged anyone. I simply asked why watch something that youre not even interested in ? Wasnt talking to you anyway. Move on little child,,,,,your crayons and koolaid are waiting.
3:06 I suddenly have a vital Need to know what the heck kinda genes are in that "ummm?" ball python
Have you found out yet?
Me too! It’s wild looking!
Late response but it looks like a bumblebee or similar morph
@FBI 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 maybe custard creams 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@FBI or Oreos🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I love wings of fire. I won a contest, got a signed copy of the latest book and met the author.
LUCKY
Man, you got luckyy
cool!
That garter snake eating the worm as she talks, “Oh, hi mom thanks for-nom nom-the worm it’s-nom nom-yummy!”
My brother booped a ball python when me and my mom yelled at him not to and she jumped off him and on the floor.. We bought her and she is the sweetest snake in the world and is doing just fine. (had her for over a year now)
After watching your channel for a couple years, I have gone from being afraid of snakes to wanting to have one as a pet. Thank you.
Lol she really snuck reptiles into restaurants 😂 “but sir, it’s my service animal!”
That one snake at 3:08 labels “Ummm?” 😂😂😂
Helpful hint: Wear deodorant.
And pants.
That's for all cons ever
Roll on is best sprays and warmth not good can choke the reptile out
@@IKMcGwee unfortunately it isn't followed
Doesn’t everyone? Should we bring it with?
If you like stories about dragons I recommend Anne Mccaffrey's 'Dragonriders of Pern' series.
That series will forever be in my favorites! ❤
Also Lackey’s Jousters series!
You all just made me remember one of the first books I ever read, Dragon's Milk. I should see if I can find a copy. I was probably 9 read it.
Thanks for helping me remember!
Oh and the Halfblood Chronicles by Andre Norton was a good read if memory serves me
I recommend the Inheritance books. The ones with Eragon and Sapphira.
I would honestly love a do&dont about online shopping for repltiles.
@SnakeDiscovery please do a video on "Am I ready for a snake"
Many people are surprised at reptile lifespans and the overall commitments required to provide a HEALTHY lifelong home.
I would totally watch that!

That smile is so amazing... God I loved it, made my whole day
I may have had a tarantula in my purse once or twice at a restaurant to avoid a dead car spider
Dogrin spiders = death sorry I am deadly afraid of them
You ma’am, you are smart lol I started skipping over the ad at the beginning till I seen you feeding some of your reptiles so I had to go back 🤣🤦🏻♀️ lool
I love your passion for these animals, it’s so pure.
At my local expo everyone has their bearded dragons on their shoulders with little leashes 🤦🏼♀️
That's so cute but bad
@@theonearkysnakeyt4875 Its not bad....its called SOCIALIZING your animal! HOWEVER!! if I did bring my reptile with me DO NOT let all kinds of different people touch or hold your pet.
I go on walks with my beardie on a leash. She sits on my shoulder and enjoys the unusual sensory stimulus
Patrick me too but with my water snake.
1:05 i personally don't listen to audiobooks but love reading and i will say wings of fire is AMAZING!
This is PERFECT for people who don’t have a pet snake.
If your parents are the reason you can’t have reptiles, I feel sorry for you.
I had to beg my parents to get a cat, somehow I don't think they would let me get any exotic pet like a snake, well, I'll have to wait until I move out then...
Thanks I've been begging my mum for a bearded dragon since I was 10.... I'm 23 now and will (obviously) pay for it myself but the answer is still no.
my country is the reason i cant have a pet snake
I was able to talk my mom into getting a snake as a graduation gift
That was me as a kid, still me as well but instead of mom saying no, it's landlords orz
The do's and don'ts for reptile online shopping would be great.
okay I know I'm 2.5 years late but you have no idea how happy I got when you mentioned that you're listening to the wings of fire series!!! one of my old fixations is meeting a new one and I think that's really neat :)
I love how your Eastern Hog is named Sparkles. So cute.
