- Today, we ordered over 10 products from Temu for "reptiles" (or at least reptile-related) to review! Some were surprisingly good, and others... well, you'll just have to watch to find out ;)

Just in case no one has mentioned it, never buy anything for pets or children on Temu. Products from that app have been tested before, and many were found to have dangerous levels of chemicals and heavy metals. An adult human might be fine, but it has the potential to slowly end a small pet.
i've seen studies where shein had a detrimental amount of lead/other dangerous chemicals in their clothing. everybody loses when it comes to sites like temu, wish, shein, etc except for the company

plus they are under investigation for a ton of different things mostly related to slave labor involving children and also not paying their employees, not giving them safe work environments and making them work PER PIECE not PER HOUR which means the employees are Forced to over work themselves to learn even the bare to support their families. ON TOP of the fact of all the products are unsafe. theres NO reason to buy from sites like temu and shein.

On the note of the enclosure you guys bought, the original design was known as an isopod mansion, and was sold by the company microvarium, since then the design has been popping up in a lot of different places. also, the locks do work if you put your hand in the enclosure and push the wall and the side of the lid together

Fair warning, I would be extremely careful buying things on Temu. It's been confirmed that they have extremely shady, and even sometimes straight up illegal business practices.
Things like: selling your personal data on the black market or ripping off small businesses that don't have the finances to do anything about it. But most notably is the fact that they intentionally lose money on each order so that they can keep their prices so low. This is at the expense of the vendor, not Temu. Some sellers have anonymously reported that they make no money selling their stuff on Temu and are just trying to get into the U.S. market.
I don't want to be a wet blanket. And by no means do I want to shame anyone for buying things off the site. I just thought you should know.
If you are not paying for a product (or you’re paying concerningly little) you ARE the product
Every company steals your data... If you want to stay safe... never buy anything from anywhere. Do not single out Temu. That is misleading and not accurate and spreads misinformation.
I refuse to use Temu. My husband has decided to get stuff from them against my wishes. I am morally against them because there is no way the makers are getting paid.

I use the site A LOT, it’s not always great quality but the return policy is fantastic

As to claims on here about workers not being paid enough, that might be true, but the same applies to ANY retailer, it depends on where they source their stock
i would imagine temu is just another wish or alibaba, if it's in/from asia, there's a chance that down the line it's all the same company, it just change name/face whenever one get in trouble and pretend to be another.
On the topic of snail weddings, I work with kids, and over winter break these two kids built a little habitat and then put two snails inside “so they can get married and have babies!” And that’s the story of how I had to explain snail marriage to two parents at pickup that day 😅

My cousin and I used to build snail hotels with empty gardening pots and whatever else we could find in my uncle's yard. It never occured to us that maybe the snails weren't as into it as we were and we ended up very disappointed every time when they were all gone the next morning and hasn't even laid any eggs 😅😂

I don't recommend buying things off of Temu. Jaclyn Glenn (spelling?) did a lot of research and figured out it's a horrible company that's causing a lot of harm. I highly recommend her video. It's very informative.
yes thats why Snake Discovery is showing the products and actual size to show people that its not a good idea to buy off a mass produced site that sells all sorts of things, rather then a specific area of expertise of the product in this case Reptile produts...
@@macaelatice-loma1048 They didn't say not to. Temu has stolen money from customers. I don't know how common that is, but it's not worth the risk. I just don't want people to end up being screwed over. 😓 It's scary, especially since most people don't actually know how bad Temu is.

you probably shouldn't use 3d printed items for habitats because the filament creates microstructures you can't disinfect
This has been brought up before and they use 3d printed hides for bb bins. I'm not sure if they ever epoxied them, bc if they're just as is, with how much use those bins get, I'm not sure that's really a significant worry?
I guess one could spray/brush them with some coating... I've seen paint that is meant to be used to coat small kids toys/furniture and I've also seen food safe paints... So those could work...
@@kyrab7914 for a frog thing I'd be more worried than a snake, and I would toss any 3d printed stuff if any sick animals are in the enclosure with it

Epoxy or enamel (food safe) coating of prints is how they are made water tight and safe for animals, again I don't know if they use raw prints for their hides but I try to point out the finishing steps for safety for critters on anything I find concerning it
Everything I've heard about Teemu suggests that everything wrong with Wish is wrong tenfold with Teemu. It's apparently really abusive towards its sellers, forcing them to use unsustainable prices and allowing new sellers to just copy old sellers listings, all their photos, all their descriptions, everything, and just-- replace them. No respect of copyright or intellectual property. And then the new guys who usurped and ran the old guys out of business will send you a completely different product that isn't in the pictures at all.
It's astonishing that tmu is even allowed to do business in the US. Their apps and website should be banned.

I wont judge anyone for buying cheap things on Temu. But i just cant bring myself to. In China, some products are made with forced labor, such as by the Uyghur people. Temu was found not to even pretend that it tries to keep such products off its platform. Things like this that are so cheap i can only imagine were not made ethically.

@@eileenmcdonald1599 There are definitely women who are forced into the sex trades in America (many of whom are then shipped out of the country) but it is highly doubtful that there is WIDE-SPREAD forced labor in the US. I’ve seen documentaries about meat processing plants that occasionally employee young children, but it’s not something that happens often.
That is definitely not the case in China. Although it is very difficult to get information out of China due to the political environment, there have been multiple reports about laborers who travel to China for a job, but end up basically working in a forced-laborlike situation.

Considering that they try to reuse and recycle whenever they can, that seems like a good way to use the boxes they got in the video! They could use the larger one to store the baby noodles when cutting eggs open since the little ones love to try and escape!

I don't buy anything suspiciously cheap because it ALWAYS has drawbacks: it breaks quickly, nonquality material or something else.
I mean yeah, but I've had some decent cheap things. Not ordered, but same idea. $4 headset from dollarama lasted me a whole year before there were *any* issues. I'd say that's pretty good for the price.

I suppose the "explosion proof" cage thing could be used to transport geckos and other small lizards temporarily (like if you're travelling to hand the animal over to someone else). It's bigger than the seller cups at expos, I'll give it that. Permanently tho it would have to be for insects.

I bought that exact mister off amazon when trying to set up my snake's enclosure on a budget. I had to hold the tubes in the machine everytime or they would detach and water would spray all over my room. Glad you guys didn't have that issue, but it was a recurring problem. As for longevity, the machine lasted about 6 months before the buttons stopped working altogether.

Its funny because there is a massive e commerce app in china called pin duoduo and Temu i believe is Pin duoduo's launch into north america so when you read some of these item descriptions its literally directly translated in Chinese, for example crested geckos in chinese literally translates to ciliary horn gecko and leopard geckos i dont know why but they call them palace guards or hand crafts LOL
Chinese person, pinduoduo and Temu are I believe the less commonly used ones compared to Taobao and Xianyu. Taobao and Xianyu are super trustworthy most of the time, ping duoduo has less items (me when trying to buy isopods). I think it’s funny how some of the names are so awfully translated though, I come across lot of poor translations when scrolling on xianyu to find monsteras

there's an app in brazil called shoppee that I suspect is from the same company as temu. It's a shopping app that sells cheap chinese and national products with an orange color scheme. At least shoppee is decent as nowadays it's mosty used by national small businesses selling at cheap but reasonable prices

I'd love to see a "Without mentioning brands/naming names" series review of Things You Maybe or Definitely Shouldn't Buy For Reptiles, like heat rocks, reptile carpet, cheap hygrometer thermometer dials- You guys could look on social media to see the kind of things well meaning but uninformed people might be showing on their "Cute Pet" channels that others might be led to think are stuff you need for that pet.

The other thing to consider is lead in the products.
I got that exact mister from Amazon a year back and it still works, surprisingly enough. It started to drip at the nozzle a few months in but that doesn't really bother me with my set up.
I will say though, pretty much the first time I used it one of the tubes slid out of the pump and distributed water literally everywhere in a matter of seconds. Even though it never happened again, I only plug it in to mist while I stand next to it because I don't want a major water leakage happen in my absence. Definitely not for everyone, but if you are working with a really tight budget this gets the job done
Temu is known for selling info a lot so watch your account yo make sure no money is stolen! Love the video!

The Snail lamp is adorable. The breeding tank is ideal size for nano-chameleons, Amau frogs, or Pumpkin Toadlets.
I think the "breeding box" is meant to be an egg hatching box. The ramp kinda makes no sense but the box would work just fine for eggs, especially small snake or lizard eggs.
I wonder if Emily and Ed have seen the videos of people putting their tortoises on miniature skateboards and letting them zoom around. I'd love to see Sharon chasing round the zoo!

I use those enclosures all the time with my tarantulas, and I love them. I love the little feeding slot on the side.

My favorite time of day is whenever Snake Discovery uploads a new video. Even after one in the morning and the upload is on the silly side of things.
For a backup mister to have on hand just in case the good one breaks.

We have those exact gloves at the vet clinic I work at (we’re cats only). They work decently well. Cats are not venomous. And they’re easy to clean!

The subject matter could be almost anything and I would watch because the style of this video is what had me rolling. The punch ins and editing GOT me. Also, as a long time viewer, I’m so proud of Ed’s camera growth!! Part of why this was so funny to me is your couple dynamic is VERY similar to my own!
The "explosion proof" bit is perfect for a scorpion sized pokemon that knows Lava Plume or similar attacks.

Loved the video! This really was fun, and yeah; I'd like to see something like this again. My favorite item is also the Chameleon light.
Generally, as a person who's done far too much latenight/retail therapy/stupid buying from TEMU) I've learned a few things:
1) Don't buy their clothes. The plastic bags they come in feel better than the fabric, and if it's ever been near cotton it was only as it was passing a cotton-field in a shipping truck.
2) CHECK THE MEASUREMENTS. Always, always, always.
3) Most of their kitchen products aren't bad at all, especially things like strainers, slicers and so forth.
4) The little addictive enameled pins are actually great AND very cheap! I cut the pin-part off, file the nub down flat and then glue them to my laptop's lid. It's very blingy!
5) Containers are good. Bought a top-notch First-Aid kit container, lots of pockets and good zippers and so forth.
6) If you shop carefully you can get decent knives. Got some pretty fair darts for my dartboard too.
7) Weirdly enough (after my comments about clothes) most socks I've bought have been great.
8) Odd little gadgets like measuring-tapes, thread-cutters, cast brass figures and bells to hang outside have all, without exception, been excellent. I now have a set of 12 solid cast brass critters to hang on my Christmas tree.
9) Fairly decent origami and bonsai supplies, much to my surprise.
10) Wooden things are almost always well made. Why? It's hard to screw up wood. Just be sure that it's really wood and not 'woodlike.'
So there you go. Shop careful, stay away from ALL shirts and PJ sets and you should be okay.
The breeding box could be for a small clutch of eggs maybe? And the acrylic tank could be a travel tank maybe, if the lid is on tight enough. Or a baby community tank if someone has one clutch of something that can cohab for a bit (depending on if the babies could get out through some hole or not).
But generally, I'd never touch anything of Temu.
