This video has been incredibly enlightening. Thanks for sharing this! I have to say I am really still shocked at hearing that someone in a product team in Google doubted your ability to smoothly transition to a product team. You managed to get a full scholarship to one of the best and most selective high schools in the world, you went to an incredibly selective university and managed to get an opportunity to work for a great team at Google and they somehow still doubted your ability to "learn excel!" If this doesn't show to people the struggles minorities have to go through, and specially women of color have to go through to have a chance to move forward with their careers I don't know what will. For every privileged white person that goes around telling people "oh college is overrated" etc. there are countless of folks who had to go to these prestigious schools and programs just so that they can turn off the unconscious biases people have about them so they can have a chance at having a seat at the table.

I am wondering If I can get your thoughts on this:
    - I have been working for over 10 years and have been feeling stuck in my career.
    - During coffee chats, I was suggested to consider MBA or MS Computer Science (I don't have an undergrad in CS but saw there are some bridging programs out there for those who don't).
Wondering what do you think about MBA vs MS Computer Science?
    - I think MS is usually for those who usually have around 2 years of work experience but may not be appropriate for those with more work experience.
    - I think with MS CS one tends to become a software developer writing code. Pays well but just writing code.
    - With MBA people usually tend to go into 3 buckets (consulting, IB/financial services & tech). My perception is that the work life balance of consulting/financial services isn't great and also getting there in mid 30s is tough but tech (product management seems to be the most popular role in tech post MBA, though the current tech economy isn't great with layoffs) seems more open with better work life balance.
Would love to get your thoughts.

It sounds like you had a competitive profile. I would need to work on my work experience and improve my math to get a completive score on the GMAT to even be considered. The only reason I would want standard is because I want to tackle global poverty. I have worked through the problem a lot. In fact most nights I struggle sleeping. It is a fire in my bones. Always in the back of my mind. A start up culture focused on innovation is possibly the best route for me to tackle poverty. Stanford has a very strong social entrepreneurship focus, with many businesses classes on using business to do good. My goal is to get a 760 on the GMAT. My math is nowhere near that and currently probably one of the lowest in the country. So it will also take considerable work. I also may try to work in product management services for a few years. Stanford is a complete long shot/practically impossible for someone with my background. Below average to average intelligence at the best. But I do have a vision of how we can tackle poverty. For me many of the answers are counter intuitive and run contrary to the opinion of experts. Despite the unlikelihood of the goal I must do what is best in helping the poor of the world. It will be an uphill battle to get accepted though with my background. I guess there are always less competitive schools if it ends up as not a possibility.
