I'll always remember in 1953 I visited Paris as a G.I. stationed in Trieste. The first night I came upon a small club, and Blossom was playing solo piano and singing. We were both in our early 20's, and we met during her break. When I moved to the village in 1956, I found her and went to her little gigs. I knew her well and always loved her work.
Belle histoire.
I have a continually growing admiration...I was used to seeing her on UK TV in the 60's as a teeneager...kinda took her her for granted then ...old stuff...finding out all the time....
How lovely! What a wonderful chanteuse?! A rare thing to hear, especially these days... Thank you so much for posting such fabulous music by such an extraordinarily talented artist!!
"j'oublie dou" ! (bi-dou-bi-dou...) - what's wrong with her accent ? - that's how we should sing french !
It might as well be spring (Richard Rogers) I'm as restless as a willow in a windstorm I'm as jumpy as puppet on a string I'd say that I had spring fever But I know it isn't spring I am starry eyed and vaguely discontented Like a nightingale without a song to sing O why should I have spring fever When it isn't even spring I keep I were someone else Walking down a strange new street And hearing words that I've never head From a girl I've yet to meet I'm as busy as spider spinning daydreams Spinning spinning daydreams I'm as giggy as a baby on a swing I haven't seen a crocus or a rosebud Or a robin on the wing But I feel so gay in a melancholy way That it might as well be spring It might as Well be Spring

How fortunate you were, Mike Schiffer... she is just marvellous. Touches my heart in so many ways, I'm crazy for her.
What a lovely story - thanks for sharing.

What a story!! I think they should make a movie about her. The more the years go by, the more I love her.
Great story and thank you for your service. It was a much different time, wasn't it?

This one is an extremely fine piece
C'est si bon!
Great to watch this. Such a good piano playing and her pitch was amazing.
The totally swinging and adorable Blossom Dearie. With that funny accent. Happy times.
Absolutamente apaixonada por Miss Dearie. Magistral, toca o coração feito plumas na alma.
So true! And it stayed beautiful til very late in her life. She will be missed.
Je l'adore! So Classy.
Blossom's voice is suitable for French language.

wonderful.......Merci!
this is so beautiful
Trop mignon !! so cute!!
Awesome talent. Today's singing stars don't know how to play the chord changes to anything, much less jazz standards.
Wow! Didn't know these existed until now...thank you!

absolutely lovely
Thank you so much for both of the Blossom Dearie videos you put up. Priceless gems!
I don't know a word of French but it sure sounds like "It Might as Well Be Spring." Thanks for posting this video
statesideqsod She recorded an album in the 50s sung mostly in French. Yes. It's Might as Well Be Spring.
Has this 1950s album been re-released?
Bonjour Mr
Oh mon ami Chris, how perfect of you to find this. Makes me tear up. And Heart of My Heart -in French, no less. Parfait! Merci mille fois.
Bonjour Mr
Mon mari, à l'époque mon fiancé, me chantait cette chanson
Thank you! Any more? Can't get enough.
So very very good. Now I know where Diana Krall gets some of her mojo. Krall even does a cover of "Peel Me a Grape" which Blossom covered in 1966.
Unearthly beautiful, despite Blossom's less than perfect French accent.
Nice :-)
👍
"j'oublie dou" ! (bi-dou-bi-dou...) - what's wrong with her accent ? - that's how we should sing french !

Where can you find the English words to this song on UA-cam or Google?
It might as well be spring (Richard Rogers)
I'm as restless as a willow in a windstorm
I'm as jumpy as puppet on a string
I'd say that I had spring fever
But I know it isn't spring
I am starry eyed and vaguely discontented
Like a nightingale without a song to sing
O why should I have spring fever
When it isn't even spring
I keep I were someone else
Walking down a strange new street
And hearing words that I've never head
From a girl I've yet to meet
I'm as busy as spider spinning daydreams
Spinning spinning daydreams
I'm as giggy as a baby on a swing
I haven't seen a crocus or a rosebud
Or a robin on the wing
But I feel so gay in a melancholy way
That it might as well be spring
It might as
Well be
Spring
❤

In spite of limited vocal gifts, she does extraordinary performances.
