    I raptor lined a Yukon in black 4 years ago. Wipe it down with W-D 40 you will be blown away as it looks brand new and helps debris from sticking! I have seen zero negative about using it for 4 years.

    I did my silverado in their black with 12 bottles like you suggested to me a few weeks ago. Came out very good. I didn't use their pro-gun though. Even atg 80psi the texture wasn't as fine as I'd thought but that's alright. I took it through a tight trail within a week after painting for the purpose of trying to scratch and scuff the heck out of it; didn't do any damage at all. wiped off.

    It's a great paint job. I always say, please yourself, not an opinion poll. As I drive an old car... I get about 2 or 3 dings from clumsy neighbors and their kids weekly. Since I intend to drive my car for the forseeable future, this paint treatment might be just what I need. Looks sharp, unique, and protects more than average paint jobs.
    Thanks for the video.

      After 2 years with it i'd do it again but only because you can paint over it for cheap with metal paint and if your raptor was applied nice to begin with you will get that same texture with your metal paint . It isn't stain resistant as marketed but it does handle scratches well , they kinda wash out . But bird sh!t stains are a nightmare to get rid of . You can paint a vehicle with raptor 10 times before you get close to regular paint finish price as per my local prices so that's the biggest selling point for me .

    Hi, I see this is an older vid, but I watched it last night just to get an idea. I ordered an 8 bottle kit to cover my 8x12 flatbed. I have to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH, you saved me. Today I received the kit with a rollon kit, turns out it was a tintable base, it was white for my black bed. I remember you saying you can mix urathane paint in it to color match your vehicle. Well it just so happens, I just painted the bed with black urathane and I had some left over. I guessed how much to put in, a couple ounces, a little thinner and shoik it up. Well its black, I would not have been able to do that without you saying to mix paint into it. Thanks again.

      Top Shelf Innovations - I bought the six bottle tintable kit off of eBay and had my local auto body supply shop tint it to my factory color code. Unfortunately my red metallic color was as expensive to get tinted as the whole kit - $150.00
      But everyone will probably find different prices depending on their color choices.

    I like my bed liner smoother so I used hvlp and added reducer, it was still super durable and still lasting super well and durable . I hauled rocks and lumber in the truck bed . No chipping at all. Raptor liner is awesome . Want it thicker, spray more material . Use epoxy primer for adhesion. If you want more sheen, add more hardener .

    This makes so much sense for a true off-road vehicle. The one thing I hated about my lifted Ram 2500 was that after every trail run...I basically needed to spend hours with a cut and buff to get the trail rashes off the sides and front end. But I have a 2002 Honda accord that has hail damage and fading paint...I might just slap some Raptor liner grey on that old dog and keep her around.

    That is a beautiful looking truck man, I think you may not have scuffed the surface enough before coating it specially since the places where it chipped of looks shiny underneath, I got my truck rhino lined and five years later after many offroad trails and one minor accident never had a single chip the only change in five years was the sun fading the black semigloss finish but even that was easily fixed with a bed liner restorer, even after 5 years my truck looked as awesome as the day it got coated. 💪

    It doesnt add 30 lbs because it loses significant weight when the liner hardens. Ive done several Jeeps and a couple pickups with Raptor . It works very well if prep of the vehicle is done correctly. Its great on bare metal with adhesion promotion. When sprayed over paint it sticks only as good as the paint below it.

    Weight of liquid paint is much heavier than the dry finished product. So i dont think you even added 20 lbs of paint. Besides its a truck. Like it nice job.

    One of the best video!!
    I’m planning to do it on my Nissan 87’ 300Z in fire red with sparkles and on my son’s RAV4 in black with pearl.
    Thanks again

    Nice video!
    I'm having a hard time really being able to understand the difference between raptor liner, linex, and the rhino liners. Of if they are pretty much the same.

    • @RustbeltMechanic
      @RustbeltMechanic  5 років тому +5

      They definitely are not the same. They may look alike from 5 feet away but they are quite different. I may do a video about this sometime in the future.

    I'm getting ready to do it to my 95 Geo Tracker inside and out! stripping and masking EVERYTHING! It's red now and i'm going black and don;t want interior red showing! I might have to figure a way to brush or airbrush around pillars and interior window edges. THX FOR THE VID!

    80-130 grit is way to course! 180-220 is what you want.

    Looks good. I did the same on an ambulance built. Living in a desert area, tan went great with the dust and always looked clean. My son inherited his grandmother's 98 4Runner and wants to bed line it in OD Green to start off making it his own. Better hurry though, he only has 4 years until he can drive it on the road.😆

    I do 120 grit, than spray a acid etching primer as a adhesion I get my bed liner from tcpglobal same brand

      Thomas Algrim but now, TPC Global charges a outrageous hazardous shipping fee ( easily as much as the cost of the product) I used amazon, still a higher shipping fee than normal, but a lot less )

    The Raptor liner looks better than the OEM paint..... great job on the video and explaining what you did and why- especially on the mirrors and suspension.

    Love how your truck turned out! It's a nice change of pace from what you see on a daily basis. I have a 98 Tahoe I dropped a 6.0L in and plan on Raptor lining it in a gun metal grey not only cause I think it will look bad ass but I live in Michigan where we see a lot of rust and rott due to the long winters and tons of salt they spread on the roads. It's a win win all the way around. How many coats did you put on the duramax btw?

    if you are worried about weight can always remove the sound deadening from the inside of the vehicle since raptor works as deadening as well.
    But only questions i have is,
    1. Ceramic Coating yah or nah would this make it much easier to wash and keep clean.
    2. Also could you also put a clear coat on it as well for a harder protection over just the bedliner.

    • @RustbeltMechanic
      @RustbeltMechanic  2 роки тому

      Yep and I have experimented with both in other videos. Ceramic definitely helps with the cleanability

    A really is a very instructive piece of work. As a rank amateur,I'm preparing to paint my landrover defender in black raptor and the little things such as the use if thinners and spray adhesive I found really useful. Thank you.

    Obviously being quite some time since you posted, but found your video as I've been researching bed liners. I think what you done is awesome. It looks great. I recently purchased a used 2014 Ram Big Horn with low miles and now debating if I want to do the same as what you did. Yours not being the first I've seen, because of a local who did the same to his Laramie in all black, it's very inspiring. 👍
