- This is part 1 of my review of the new Braun Series 9 9296cc which is released next month. I was given this free of charge by BzzAgent to try and give an honest opinion whether good or bad so here it is. :)
Test #1:
As it's a wet and dry shaver I did my usual prep (pre-shave oil followed by shaving soap) on one half of my face and on the other half I did nothing at all.
Result #1a (5 day dry shave):
The shaver was pretty poor to be honest. It tugged at a couple of longer hairs on the lower neck at the start but got better as I went on. I had to continually go back over every part of my face to get the missed spots where the razor only shortened the beard, didn't take it off completely. Took a good 5 minutes on that side alone to be "good enough" but even then I had to grab my blade to trim the longer neck hairs that were flat against my neck that it missed. 3/10.
Result #1b (5 day wet shave):
The shaver was a LOT better on this side and didn't tug at all. It slid across the surface of the skin nice and easy but because it was easy it missed spots again so I had to repeat the process several times. Still didn't catch the longer neck hairs and they needed a blade trim to finish. Took 4.5 minutes on that side. 4/10.
Test #1 Summary: very expensive toy that is not capable of tackling longer hair without repeated passes (and resulting skin irritation!). If I was a 5 day shaver I'd return it.
5 day stubble (wet and dry average) - 3.5/10
NOTE: Since this video I have shaved with the 9296cc on both 1 and 2 day stubble instead of the 5 day in this video and it's much MUCH better!
Future videos will include:
- Part 1 - 5 day stubble review (wet and dry)
- Part 2 - 1 or 2 day stubble review (wet and dry)
- Part 3 - Charge and clean station review.
- Part 4 - Overall summary of the shaver and any tips I've picked up on using it.
Looks like you're in the bathroom from the movie saw 1
lol
I agree 100% with what you have reviewed. I picked up the series 9 two days ago and had my first shave and it was good but it left alot of stray hairs on my neck that I had to use a DE razor to finish off the job on my neck.
I think it is just the nature of the electric razor and its limitations. I am trying out the Arc 6 and Pro 9 and the Pro 9 actually for me, did a better job at those pesky hairs without irritation. I have used foil shavers before and the Arc 6 gave me more irritation than those. I will say that Arc 6 is an awesome bald head shaver, but if I can't use for my face, it's a no go.
Thanks for the vid. Good job. I've been using a series 7 for about 3 yrs and thinking about upgrading. It takes a few tries to get the routine down to get into the little edges. It can eventually lift and hack them off with a little practice. I have a super thick beard FYI.
I also have the Braun series 9 and my experience is consistent with your presentation. Accurate video, thanks for posting.
Thanks for sharing your experience
I have flat lying fine hair mid to lower part of my neck. Electric can never seem to cut very well.
I tried wet shaving with arko soap. Helps prevent irritation especially if you push a little too hard from the 9 series head to get a closer shave to reduce razer bumps and ingrown hairs.
Nothing beats a cold steel blade!
Great review, had the same issue with the dry shave- including the same heat rash. I followed it up with a separate razor just to clean up the missed hairs. Going to try wet tonight; if it still doesn’t pick up everything I’m taking this shit back!
So what happened ? Are u satisfied with the wet shaving
Just out of curiosity when will there be a part 2
I bought the top model, and tested it today. Im shocked that it couldnt shave clean. Small hair left all around. Im really worried if i have to return it. Had to finish with my 5 year old cheap phillips rotating shaver.
I thought it was just me. Wow. Hard to believe. We're well into the 21st century .. and yet somehow they just can't make this happen.
Same here ,my neck hairs still there ,and i have cut on my neck it was bleeding yesterday very disappoünted
Return it then. How were you using this? It should not cut you because of how its designed unless you are doing something very reckless or in the 1% of folks who can't even use an electric razor. @@levnad4086
I thought with foil shavers you're supposed to go against the growth of the hair, which was probably why you were struggling a bit?
Wow going to buy one on Black Friday but still have doubts between braun and philips norelco. I have very sensative skin. Should I buy this or philips?
I just want a video on how you do your hair
Your shaving movement with hand is way too fast. Take a breath and shave SLOWER. I think buying this, are you still using it? Would you say its a must to use the cleaning system after a wet shave?
I'm sorry you had so much unpleasant commentaries. This is the first video I felt sincere. Congrats and thanks.
Same problem with S9 Pro + and S7
so you say good for a one day beard to get a baby face? Normally I shave every thirs day for 16 years with Gilette Fusion ProGlide. I don't wanna cut myself anymore and want to shave faster - so do you think this would be a good choice for me?
Wet shave or no shave, afaic.
Nearly bought one today off eBay ...
After watching this I'm glad I haven't ...I'll continue with wet shaves for now, besides his shave is taking forever, I thought the purpose was to make it quicker and easier...not sold in this......good video
I absolutely agree with you.
Lee H I think the point is to shave every day or every 2 days. Electric shaver are not meant to tackle long hair.
Fast forward to the Series 9 pro for up to 7 days of hair. I am testing my new Pro tonight on 4 days growth. @@tiloalo
In your video, your head disappears and we can't actually see your technique. Since this is the first time you shaved with an electric shaver in a while, you may need to shave with it three or four times so your facial hair starts to conform to that of the razor and electric razors are not designed for 5 day stubble as well. Thx for sharing
So don't blame the shaver.
Anybody else struggle with getting the Braun 900 to remove hairs in a single stroke? I've shaved over the same spot 15 times and still can't pick up some stray hairs. CRAZY! Maybe I need to add shaving cream into the mix?
15 times? Dude how long are you letting the hair grow? Remember that only the Pro 9 can handle more than 3 days of growth. A guy posted a video of him and two weeks of growth and it cut it but it took a good long bit and tore up his neck. Only use as designed.
Can i join to be a Bzzagent too? Will i be able to review the Braun series 9?
I thought you were making a sandwich for the first couple of minutes.
My biggest issue is I get pimples on my mustache area after shaving with an electric. I never got that with using a razor. I use a braun wet with shaving gel and every time I get these little pimples do you have any tips?
Matthew Fischbacher You may be pressing down on your skin too hard. There is also an adjustment period with electric razors, usually 2-3 weeks. Just make sure to keep a proper post and after shave routine!
Try using some Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5 gel after shaving.
hi did you find a solution to this as i suffer from the same thing?
@@Liyads I’ve found that if I shave after a shower, and after the shower I use very warm (not hot) water on a flannel and gently rub at my skin that makes quite a difference to me. I used to use a hot flannel and place it on my face for a few minutes to open up the pores but actually since I’ve stopped doing that I’ve found that I don’t get as many zits or none at all actually so it’s worth trying that
@@mattyboi8338 thanks a lot! are you using braun series 9? i'm thinking of buying - as with manual razor i always break out in spots. But if Braun series 9 caused you to break out in spots too then i' don't know if i'll buy...
I used old Phillips shaver (top model 10 years ago or so). It did cut perfect, lot better then manual, BUT, it took me forever and 100 of passes. So I went back to manual. Took too long time and too much irritation on the skin.
Couple of weeks ago I got Braun (9296cc). After 2 shaves... I was expecting a lot more for the price. Today I did exactly what U just did (before watching you video) and I got better results with wet shave.
I´ll give it a go for another few weeks. Have 60 days money back return. Perhaps it´s my technique. Or it´s just my shave. However, they way it shaves now is just not good enough. I have to go over with manual, to look decent. So what the point then? It´s aint quicker, better or simplier? And it cost 400e. But, I´ll update my comment in a few weeks.
MrVricolaks How is the shaving going? Is it worth the expense as I am thinking of buying one for my very coarse beard.
I decided to return it back.
It feels nice and solid, but just don´t work for me.
1. I have to make like 20 passes or so, before it´s somewhere to "good enough".
2. Even then, there are several hairs left. I must carry with me/use manual razor.
3. After 20-30 passes, my skin is a lot more irritated than with a manual razor. And it takes longer time...
4. As I mentioned earlier, my old Philips does a better job. Closer shaving than Braun.
By all means, it feels like an amazing product. And there are TONS of good reviews. But it did not work for me.
So my advice would be to buy it somewhere with an easy return option.
And if it does work for your beard/skin, I would say you will get very close to a manual razor and quick shave. If it doesn´t... well... then it´s waste of money.
If you lather up why use electric?
Because its easy to cut your face even if you use a razor blade as should, at least for many people. and you must lather three times with razr blade shave if you want a smooth shave, that SUCK BALLS. i'd rather have close the smooth shave but with 0 cuts.
This should take 2 minutes! Why the hell is it taking you so long when it takes me 3 minutes to get rid of my terrorist beard with a 3 year old 7 series?!! Why the hell does it cost so much? Was considering an upgrade, not considering it after watching this.

wich is best a fusion pro glide or thid machine, i never used one

im from Uruguay
Sounds like your in a rest stop bathroom.
12 minutes to take a shave! Too much time for me…
Something tells me that's because of him shooting a video.
It's not worth the price.
You can get them new for $200 now. I'd say at that price its not too bad
@@mikechivy Still 347e here in Finland
I bought this 4 months ago and must say it's shit compared to my Panasonic Arc 5.
I'm torn between the Arc 5 and this braun 9260 how is your Arc 5 better than your Braun 9260?
