Absolutely stunning. What a trombonist and band. wow!
There are so many great Big Bands past and present but right now my top two are Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band and The Thilo Wolf Big Band! Thilo is also a fantastic drummer besides his incredible piano playing skills, not to mention his arrangement expertise with those charts!
Very, very impressed with this band's artistry and cohesiveness. But did anybody notice (I did!) the gorgeous venue where these fellows are performing??!! What a gorgeous theater!!
I like how the melody changes very slight but makes it seem very jazzy. It's like they took just a few notes and moved them a half step up or down and BAM, Barry is incoming.
By the way: The arranger is Marc Nightingale and it was originally comissioned by the SWR Big Band Stuttgart. We had the friendly permission to use the sheetmusic.
That was wonderful! Magnificent playing with a great big band. I've got to get to Europe more frequently.

Especially slide Trombone!!! I'm sure it wouldn't be the easiest some to learn and play on a valve Trombone but to play it on a slide Trombone and play it that well.....it's just proves that there are Trombone players from other planets
