      @@investorbettor505 This show is the reason I keep a little emergency bag in the back of my car... With water bottles, a first aid kit, a very bright flashlight, one of those silver emergency blankets, crunchy granola bars and dog food since I always travel with my dog. I add little things to it all the time. I don't even drive out in the middle of nowhere or go off roading but you never know something might happen and I'd rather be safe than sorry.

    2. Get a satellite phone (not a substitution for #1)
    3. Bring more than enough food and water and all the other basic survival tools
    4. Be smart, don’t do anything overly dangerous, go slow if you need to, if you start feeling yourself getting lost, follow the exact path you came. If you’re officially lost stop moving and call for help or wait for help.

    Pro tip - contaminated water can be distilled in plastic bottles over indirect heat from a fire. Even if you have no traditional materials to start a fire, in a situation like this, you could use sparks from the car battery, gas from the tank and dry desert brush as an accelerant...if that fails, someone's glasses can be used to concentrate sunlight. Also, drinking your pee is never warranted, as you're exerting your already desperate organs with toxins meant to be excreted from your body. Glad this couple made it out alive though

    • @aldinlee8528
      @aldinlee8528 6 місяців тому +6

      The fact that the river was running high, I should think would make contaminents less concentrated; correct me if I'm wrong. They most certainly should have drunk themselves full, and filled up both bottles, and anything else capable of holding water, even if for just a while. Even soaking their clothes in water, would have helped a bit.

    • @ilana0507
      @ilana0507 6 місяців тому +4

      @@aldinlee8528 while there are some advantages to steady flowing water, one of the disadvantages is that water contaminated from animal feces travels downstream. This would be an issue in areas where I live, but not sure about there. I still wouldn't drink that without at least trying to find ways of distilling or boiling it. Using the river water to cool down and soak your clothes is a great option though!

      Good advice. Also:
      - Follow the road back, or find high ground to view possible routes
      - Don't hike in the middle of the day
      - Digging a deep hole in that moist river bed might have yielded water
      - Of course, always have an emergency kit in the car

    The power of Love, prayer, and communication were all prevalent in this story. I don't know if this couple are still around, but I hope that they had or have many more years of a Joyful Life together.

      It would've been nice if "the lord" kept them from being in this situation in the first place.

      It wasn't the Lord that saved them It was the hikers that found the note and alerted the rescue team

    My God, what recklessness! Trusting a car as if it had alien technology - instead of respecting nature, which is not a fairground! But I'm glad they both survived; and the love that binds them together is beautiful!

    She chose not to drink water. That is a perfect example of how people remain unreasonable even in the face of death. You have to rely on yourself and not allow others to bring you down.

    Water purification tablets are inexpensive -- around the price of the cheapest bottled water -- and don't take up much space or weigh much. If you can pack a gun and ammo you can easily include a box of them.
