As an 8 not adapting to others is an immature thing. As a mature 8, you do, you just feel like your “biting your tongue” all the time. As long as someone doesn’t pry or you realize it is not that important, you adapt. You get really tired of having beef with so many people.
Well said! Our behaviors may morph and mature over time even while our internal motivations and drives stay the same. So out behaviors may look very different based on how we act on the internal motivation. Great examples of how this may present for a mature 8, thanks for sharing! 🤗
I’m an Entj 3. You hit the head on the nail. I tend to be more adaptable to the feelings of others, while also avoiding being emotional. My 8 traits are on the back burner, but because 3 is dominant I’m someone that understands that people are usually more motivated by emotion than by logic or reason.
I'm an ENTJ 8 in all respects but bluntness and emotionality. I think this is in large part due to the fact that I'm a woman. As a woman, if you don't learn to communicate diplomatically and "kindly" to at least some degree, men will often think you're overstepping or the like and other women will just think you're a bitch.
This is such an important point, I'm so happy you brought this up! While any Enneagram type can be any gender, the way that type expresses externally within a society can vary based on gender and what society expects of that gender. This is especially true for female 8s and often why they get mistyped. It's so important to hear female 8 voices -- I really appreciate you sharing your experience, thank you!🤗
I am 8 in leadership, 8 with energy, 8 with ambition, 3 with blunt, I’m somewhere in between 8 and 3 for emotion. Reflecting over the past 5 years most of my 8’s were 3’s but evolved into 8’s with time and experience This is very insightful. Thank you for sharing this.
I'm glad this was helpful! You make an excellent point: we often lean more on certain aspects of our personality at different stages of life. Thank you for the great comment! 😊
@@qua7771 I don’t think speaking to people respectfully is finessing anyone. It’s simply helping them to be their best. When you rude/blunt to them do you think they will give a shit about doing a good job? You just sound like an asshole.
Wow! I’m the exact same type right down to the 853. I use to feel like an alien and less human, but as I prioritize friends and grew my social circle things changed. But my goals needed to shift to becoming more ppl focused.
I could care less about being affirmed. So I definitely lean towards being in control. Now I do care about being understood. But as long as my message gets across clearly, I wouldn’t be bothered if no one agrees.
So i did the mbti test and i came out to be an entj. You got me the minute you said 'they strive power'...i remember being a people pleaser because my ambitious heart and leadership roles weren't liked by other. If i achieve something or make a confident move...some people seemed really annoyed, and since i was a kid...that made me a people pleaser. I struggled a lott with that, to the point my reputation got all low with my school friends. And thats it there and then. Im now slowly regaining my power back and dont give a sh!t to "people" anymore. Though i didnt wanted to write this down but i feel i got something off of my chest. This whole thing made me doubt if i really was an entj?? Thank you
I'm happy you are regaining your power back! It can be a long journey figuring out which is our dominant type! It's possible you have both 3 and 8 in your Tritype (a mixture of one main type from each center of intelligence) 😊 I hope this is helpful! Thank you for sharing your experience!!🤗
@@beigepiano-du5dkyup I'm entj 3w4. I used sakinorva test to identify my cognitive functions. It's always the same and I relate to the functions as they are. I hope you can find yours too. Love and light.
Thank you for your intelligent analysis. I’m type 3 btw and I live under goals. They’re the meaning of life. I have zero interest in controlling others or being controlled.
Thank you!! I'm glad you liked it! 🤗This is a great example of the importance of goals and how they are connected to creating purpose and meaning for type 3s. Thanks for sharing your perspective! 🤗
Ayla, these compare/contrast videos you do are the best, so unique and insightful. Many YT channels talk about E types, but your deep-dive vids contrasting 4s vs 5s or splitting MBTI types into their E types are so much more illuminating. I feel like I understand ENTJs now better than I ever did before. That’s why I’ve ended up watching some of your vids 3-4 times. Please keep them coming! And if you can… more often! 😉
Thank you Jerry! This is so generous and I really appreciate it🥰 It's so helpful to have your feedback to know which types of videos are most helpful. I'll do my best to get more out! There's so many interesting angles to explore and dive deep into! So happy you found it helpful! Thank you!🤗🤗
I definitely plan to do more on the cross-over between mbti and Enneagram! Not totally sure if I will do every mbti in the same format but it's possible 😄
I enjoyed this informative video. As a fellow INTJ with an enneagram 5 wing 4, I can relate to an ENTJ with an enneagram 3, especially in the context of being on a vacation, yet staying in that exercising routine, it sounds like something I'd do. Keep making these informative videos, I'll definitely keep watching!
Thank you so much! I'm so happy you found it informative!🤗 this is a great example for different ways our personality patterns can overlap and in interesting ways. Thank you for the example and for your kind words! 🤗
Great way to identify both ENTJs! I split between 8 and 3 every time I test. 8 resonates with me personally with a big part in the career deciphers - I definitely prefer autonomy and treat myself as self employed even though I'm currently on salary. Great video!
I can see my development arc in this video, I started out as a 3 as a younger man and in my 50s I’m full blown 8. I do have some lingering traits from the 3 side, especially being persuasive over blunt.
Interesting! How our personalities can change and evolve over the course of our lives is a super interesting topic, and I'd love to do a video about that soon. Sometimes this can happen when we pivot from leaning on one part of our tritype (like 3) to leaning more on another part of our tritype (like 8). Thank you for sharing your experience! 🤗
this really helped me understand things I could not relate to some things on the stereotype around ENTJ. 8 is exactly what I am (for better or worse). Thank you for making this video
I totally agree with your explanation about the two types. I am an 8 ENTJ female. I often dont agree with all of the stereotypes for ENTJ’s. Now I know why. Because I am not a 3!!
I got an entj as a result today. I am not bossy nor unemotional. I actually never lead before however I am highly opinionated, i am organized cause i work in the office and I make sure deadlines are met, I would call out people for facts over their feelings, I am highly ambitious and to be honest I crave power and status, I am very insecure and hard on myself. However I am highly empathetic, I don’t resonate with being bossy. I don’t make people uncomfortable I try to make them comfortable around me that i am a safe space.
So well said! A lot of your description sounds more 3 to me than 8, especially the part about feeling insecure and avoiding making people feel uncomfortable. But might you use both 3 and 8 patterns in your Tritype! Thank you so much for sharing your personal experience! 🤗
Glad you said that at the end. Beginning of video I was thinking 8 and then partway through thinking 3. I'm much more 3 but I also want the control because I believe things are just going to be better for everyone if I'm steering the ship. As a caveat, I will always seek to guage knowledge and experience level of others against my own to determine if I have a learning opportunity. If I'm not the smartest person in the room, I'm in listening mode and yield control to whomever deserves it. How else am I to improve?
I feel like 3 is so useless, earlier in my life I would’ve loved some affirmations, now i know that you can do great without someone telling you it is and without anyone noticing
Thank you for sharing your experience! 3's, like every type, have higher and lower aspects of their type. A 3 at their best is incredible at making awesome things happen and inspiring others to set their sights high and do awesome things, too! Thank you for adding to the conversation! 🤗
You get to be free. Work on your terms and make your money. Definitely an 8 because I do not care about image at all or what others think of me. I’m in power of myself because I control myself not others. That’s important to me. Lol I’m an 8 through and through.
As someone who got an 8 but can relate to the 3 as well as the 6. I don't trust people to do what I need done. If I want something done quickly I need to do it. I do see fear and sadness as weakness so my friends see me angry and happy. But they know something is up like when I am sad because I go from normal happy to extremely happy. Then when I am scared I go from normal anger to extremely angry. This is me hiding. This is also why I have get mad at my crush because they are bringing out feelings I see as a weakness so I tend to be really angry. My friends now find it funny because they have known me for awhile and I am working on it. As for control I actually don't mind if I am not in control. But that is if I trust the person. And I don't trust many people so I guess it is just my fear of being taken advantage of by someone in power
INFJ (E4w5) here writing a fantasy novel and researches mbti traids for my characters. :D One of my Main Characters is an ENTJ (E3w4) you nailed her character. She is determined and whatever she sets her mind to, she achieves. She is very concerned about living up to her family's honor and legacy, and is very careful about the light in which she is seen. One of the antagonists - also an ENTJ - is an Enneagram 8 and I would like to depict this difference between these two in my story. Even though people have the same personality type, there are plenty of differences between them. The world is diverse. Therefore: THANK YOU for this great summary. I could never have summed it up like that. :D
Yay, so glad to hear you liked it! I love that you're using MBTI and Enneagram for developing characters, I think they are really valuable tools for that. The Enneagram especially, since it's all about motivations, can give characters a lot of vibrancy -- like the character that you describe. It sounds like a cool story! Thanks for sharing! 🤗
I’ve always tested as an ENTJ, never doubted it but I don’t relate to the stereotypes of blind pursuit of success or being super charismatic. I don’t seek out leadership roles everywhere but I tend to lead whatever I’m doing not because I want to, but because if I care… I can’t just comply or concede my position. I am driven by my individual mission / life purpose and by autonomy. I am a relentless workaholic but only in pursuit of significance, not for just success sake. I don’t care to be busy - just effective. I don’t give a shit about structure or order, just the outcomes and I don’t see myself as comparable to ESTJ (though were often put in one category).
Great examples! Based on what you describe here I would suggest looking more into type 8 and the different subtypes 8 can have. You eloquently stated the main internal motivation for 8s, the need for autonomy. How that manifests in external behaviors can vary a lot and is often influenced by a person's primary subtype🙂 I hope this is helpful! Thanks for sharing and helping to deepen our understanding!
@@TrueYouSystems I also wanted to say that I appreciate that you have identified both three and eight as common Enneagram types for ENTJ. A lot of YTers are under the assumption that e8 cannot be intuitive by definition which is not true.
Thank you!🤗 I'm so glad you brought this up! Enneagram 8s get pigeonholed a lot, including in the idea that they can't be Intuitive. I wonder if this might be a good video topic! Thank you for the idea and for sharing your insight! 🤗
She is right most of the time, wrong when it comes to how we feel about others. I am a brutal ENTJ but I have to feel like I am making an impact for people. If not, I feel like I’ve let people down.
Thank you! I'm glad elements of it resonated for you!🤗 I'm happy you brought up a need for having impact. This is a great point and an idea that often really resonates for many type 8s in particular. Thanks for sharing your experience and helping to deepen the conversation! 🤗
I am close friends with another ENTJ and I had to tell him to tell me that he is going to do something better than me in order to motivate me lol. If I can't muster up the intrinsic motivation to do something, I have to seek it externally.
Yes, we can certainly have elements of more than one type, and usually do! In this case, you might have both 3 and 8 in your Tritype, which is your main type from each of the three centers of intelligence -- heart (2,3,4), head (5,6,7), and gut/instinct (8,9,1). Thank you for contributing your thoughts! 🤗
I’m an ENTJ 1w2. As far as the leadership aspect of me, I would say I take control because I feel others don’t put the right amount of care into whatever I’m working on them with and simply “do the minimum” or make what we do “average”. I take control because I want to make sure my group is the best and that it shows that we’re doing good work. Other than that I suppose the only thing I hate being controlled on like the 8 is being forced to be on a certain schedule. I like to do things on my own time and I don’t like being forced to work on a project with others because working as a group on something big takes even more time when I already have so many little things I’m working on completing. I’m a college student so I’m very busy. However, if there’s a situation in which I feel someone else is better suited to be the leader or would do just as well of a job as me, then I’ll step back because being the leader is a lot of responsibility that I would rather not have. However at the same time I will still make my ideas be known and if they are not at least considered then I will be very angry with the leader.
Great video I learned from it. I actually appreciate when people are blunt, especially when they're asking for something. My sister-in-law wastes time being like "Can you please do me a favor?" and then asking what she wants someone to do. It'd save a lot more time and energy if she just asked what she wanted right off. "Can you put this in the sink?" would work just as well. I have both type 3 and 8 in my tritype with type 8 being my main type. It's a bit confusing because I operate through life more like a 3, I noticed recently that I really am a completely different person depending on who I'm around, but my motivation and fears and all that stuff are way more 8. One thing I can relate to with not being controlled and being told what to do, is I'll plan to clean the house or something, but as soon as someone else mentions that we need to clean the house, I'll not want to clean anymore because they're now taking charge of the cleaning situation. What enneagram types are ENTJ least likely to be? I'm going to guess type 9 and type 1. If I were to rank from most likely to least likely types my prediction would be: 1. 8 2. 3 3. 7 - The tert-Se of the ENTJ leads me to believe they care a bit about having experiences. 4. 2 - They're an EJ they like helping people in some sort of way. 5. 5 - I had initially had this lower, but then I thought about the fact that type 5's look at a lot of real world data and facts like seeing thoughts in the world, extraverted thinking, the dominant function of the ENTJ. 6. 4 - Since they're intuitive I can see them being a bit odd and relishing in that. 7. 6 - I initially had this higher but now it's not. It's one that I had trouble placing. 8. 1 - I don't imagine they care much about perfection and being seen as a good person. 9. 9 - I think this is obvious lol. The reasons I listed as based on the general public and is not applicable to everyone, so I'm aware of the fact that there are probably ENTJs out there who go against everything I've said. I've actually never met an ENTJ so this is all just hypothetical lol.
Thank you! So happy you liked it! Great examples! And yes the top most likely enneagram types for entj are 8 and 3, and then either 7 or 1 next, followed by 6s. 2s don't tend to be entjs because they are so concerned with the feelings of others and how others see them and so tend to be F dominant. This is true of 4s as well. 5s have a lower likelihood of being extroverted so tend to be less likely to be entjs. And yes 9s rarely are 😊. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!! Always appreciate what you have to say! 🤗
@@TrueYouSystems No problem! So I was off about 1, it makes sense though, they are Te users and EJs and EJs can be a bit aggressive about things being right lol. Thanks, I appreciate what you have to say as well. Typology is one of my favorite things to talk about.
Thank you for this video. I’m an ENTJ 3w4, and as I looked more into the ENTJ type, I kept finding things that I couldn’t quite relate to. Like, I enjoy being in charge, but I do it to get things done in the best way, not because I dislike being controlled. Your video helped clear things up for me a lot.
I'm so glad that you found this helpful! You summarize the key difference really well here. Thank you for sharing your experience and perspective and adding to the conversation! 🤗
I was pretty curious about the differences you were here to speak about on the ENTJ enneagrams, but a lot of the information was really stereotyped. Meeting an ENTJ in person doesn't quite follow textbook definitions of someone. The traits and basics of an ENTJ were absolutely spot on. They are the things most people are aware of and typically apply to us, even if there is a lot more under the surface that leads us to be misunderstood. I noticed many of your ideas are based around an ENTJ who either wishes for praises and achievement of goals or control over their own life and destiny. The small points you made here and there made sense, especially if they related to our general typing, but separating an ENTJ into those two groups simply doesn't work for most people, including all the ENTJs I've met and myself. I aim to have complete control over my life, no one to be the boss of me, not because I simply want to have no superiors telling me what to do. That would be illogical and emotional. I believe that if I want to reach my goals and help others, I need to have the ability and command to do so. I had the same problem with your other assumption, praises of others have little to no meaning. They are appreciated, but not sought after and neither are comparisons or status. If I want to be able to achieve my dreams, I don't care if I am given the title, as long as I have the ability to make my goals. ENTJs also value logic and rationality. We understand the need to take breaks and relax once and while, even if we are workaholics or push ourselves harder than anyone else. We love challenges not for the praises or for making a goal or direction, so much excitement comes from the promise of growth in learning, connections, and adrenaline, and the function of the end product. The difference in bluntness had nothing to do with enneagrams and is just maturity and/or experience. ENTJs develop a more keen eye for communication with others and how to properly get their point across without being too blunt through life. An ENTJ strives to be logical in their choices and actions, being too blunt in many scenarios works against us and is matured then honed overtime. Exact same thing with emotions, an ENTJ can become more attuned to their own emotions overtime and by maturing in emotional intelligence. Also, stating we don't feel sadness or fear characterizes us as inhuman and alien, as such a thing is impossible. Our relationship with those emotions is much more complex than simply being unaware of it because we are aware we just are gonna tell anyone since it makes us look weak. It's called compartmentalization, very common among my type, and how we react to many emotions that we don't like. The more mature someone is, the more they find ways to release the pent up emotions in healthy ways, and are just as less likely to get angry or rash. Yelling is a method to get other peoples attention, intimidate them, and make them listen to you. We command because we have the authority and strength to do so and acting wimpy or quiet ain't gonna cut it, so showing anger tells everybody else who's boss and that we are serious. I appreciate that you are trying to make more people aware of who ENTJs are and our true personalities, but from how you speak, it seems you've never actually met an ENTJ. We are rare and unlikely to speak to others about our true inner selves or make chit chat if there is no purpose or deepness to the conversation. It does make us hard to get to know and understand, but please consider the tone and word choice you use before posting a video. Much of your language was very rude and brash, especially not taking account ENTJs, who are known for their confidence and self-worth, that wish to achieve their dreams for the good of others and to see the world grow. Not selfish ambition of being their boss or praise.
Thank you for the feedback! I'm always looking to improve in the accuracy of my information and in how I present it, and it's always possible for me to miss the mark. It's also possible that you do not relate to 3 or 8 because that's not where you are on the Enneagram 😊. As I discuss briefly at the end of the video, ENTJs can certainly be other Enneagram types! For example, you may instead relate to being an ENTJ who is highly principled, moral, self-controlled, justice-oriented, who cares about rules and order and has an active internal self-critic that keeps them striving to be better. This would describe an ENTJ Enneagram 1. ENTJ 1s tend to share much in common with INTJ 1s, so if this is something you're interested in, you might check out my INTJ video, which is all about 1s and 5s (which, again, is not all INTJs, but rather the two most common types of INTJ). I'd love to hear your thoughts! 🤗
You sooo nailed it! I had no idea ENTJ's had subsets.. I am a 3 - no wonder the ENTJ classification never fully fit. I also use whatever tactical resources i need to meet a goal. Thank you, I will watch this video again.
Oh wow you nailed it. My dad's an xNTJ and he fits the 8 description to a T, I think he's 8w7(&ENTJ), and he can come across as ESFP or even ExTP at times. You'd never mistake him for an ESTJ or any of the other 3 IxxJs, which unlike INTJs, have social graces in their stack.
As an ENTJ, while the internet results are talking about how much you can see the "3 traits" in ENTJs, I find myself much more of an 8. Thank you for the video!
So accurate! I’m off for 2 weeks because I maxed out my PTO at work and they forced me to use the time🙄 so here I am working on my personal and professional development⭐️🤓
I'm so glad you found it accurate! I'm also glad you're taking time to work on your own development -- the ROI on understanding yourself and others better is huge, and often people overlook this. If you're interested in leveling up in a big way, definitely reach out to me about 1:1 coaching, since go beyond learning the MBTI and Enneagram systems to looking at how to apply them in your life and work in order to amplify your superpowers and break free of "autopilot" patterns and habits. In the meantime, thank you for the feedback and great ENTJ example! 🤗
Yay! I'm so glad you found it accurate! This is a great point you make, and ultimately your Enneagram type is the one whose underlying motivation you relate to most, not necessarily the type you score on a test. I made a video all about this that you might find helpful: ua-cam.com/video/3AowGOXFP9Q/v-deo.htmlsi=ybSvDxTLg02kw31O I'd love to hear your thoughts after watching it! Thanks so much for sharing! 🤗
Nice! ENTJ's can definitely be type 7s -- I almost included them here, but decided to go into 7s more when I do a video on ENTPs. For now, I just did a video on ENFPs that's all about 7s (along with 4s), and you might enjoy that -- I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on how the ENFP 7 patterns I describe are similar to or different from your experience as an ENTJ 7. Thanks for contributing to the discussion here! 🤗
This is very insightful. Thank you! I can see myself in both ENTJ types. Question: can a person's personality change in the various stages of life? I am close to retirement, and I wonder if I have always been an ENTJ.
Thank you! I'm so glad you've found it insightful!🤗 This is a great question! Often our personal context and stage of life matter a lot when we take tests like the mbti and can greatly influence how we answer a question and what results it shows. Also, since the mbti is by percentages, our results may vary from testing to testing. This is especially true when we were close on a cognitive function to begin with, like 56% P and 44% J, for example. In terms of enneagram type, we tend to stick with our main dominant type from adolescence or early adulthood onwards, with the same core fears and motivations. But, how that presents and manifests externally can definitely change depending on stage of life and other personal context. Hope this is helpful! Thanks for watching and for the excellent question!🤗
I'm glad that you found the video accurate! It's also great to hear from different kinds of ENTJs 😊 If you identify with Type 1 as your dominant type, then you might be interested in my INTJ video, as it's all about 1s (along with 5s) and much of what I discuss there tends to apply to ENTJ 1s, too, especially those whose I/E is close to the middle ua-cam.com/video/9q5TDuWAEMc/v-deo.html thank you for sharing here and adding to the conversation! 🤗
Thank you! So happy you loved it!! You might also enjoy my new video about ENTP's, since it's all about 8's and 7's ua-cam.com/video/WqsO0rYCqhg/v-deo.htmlsi=BLz0OcthW83TfCY- Thanks for sharing! 🤗
I haven't really heard before about this classification. The classic MBTI describes INTJ as a captain, commander or business shark, which makes it difficult to identify myself as I definitely don't fit those roles. That's why sometimes I see myself more as ENTP although several tests classified me as ENTJ. So thank you for the explanation, it makes sense.
I'm glad it was helpful! You might be interested in my INTJ and ENTP videos, too ua-cam.com/play/PLvu3Mso64sssRDPwcAAkdnntJK8k50K1Q.html. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience! 🤗
I’m a combination of both for sure. I do care about others feels, but I have limited patience for them. I just tolerate them bc I know I have to in order to achieve my goal. At the same time, if you cross a line or try to control me, I don’t care giving up on my currently path to achieve my goal. I will burn the bridge and not look back. Then start from scratch another route.
Great descriptions! It makes sense that both resonate, and it's possible you have both in your Tritype. Based on what you said, it sounds like 8 might be your dominant type. Your emphasis on control and lack of fear around burning a bridge -- even when it might set back a goal -- leads me to believe that 8 might be more dominant. These things tend to be harder for someone who is 3-dominant. You know yourself best, of course 😊 Thank you for sharing and adding to the conversation! 🤗
So happy they resonated for you!🤗 Perhaps both patterns are in your Tritype (a mixture of one main type from each center of intelligence)🙂 Thank you for sharing! 🤗
I am definitely a 3. I don't have a problem with authority. Never want to be in a leadership role, but for some reason others want to put me in that role. I don't like telling others what to do and don't mind when others give me a task and tell me what to do. Really not a high energetic person, but I do have narrow vision when it comes to completing a job. Bluntness, well maybe, I just don't care about what people think most of the time. It's better to be straight forward than beat around the bush and speak in parables. My God that drives me nuts, just say what you want to say and move on. Optimistic? Yes I believe I am, there will always be something new on the horizon. I really don't like to be in the spotlight so to speak, just want the recognition, which is a number 3 type, like the doctor. I sometimes think my test results are wrong.
So many great examples here of the 3 type patterns, thank you!😄 I'm curious what test results you often get😊 In my last video I went into some reasons why enneagram tests often don't work. This is such a good example of how to figure out your type by carefully going through and seeing what behaviors and motivations you relate to most. Thanks so much for sharing!🤗
First of all I want to thank you for making these video its so helpful, and I also want to make a request about ENTP-8 vs ENTJ-8 cause it is really hard to differentiate an ENTP form an ENTJ when you are an enneagram type 8. Thanks a lot
As I have matured, I have found more access to my 3, although I am dominated an 8. I can see the value in the other subtype and sometimes my strong 8 tendencies have come back to haunt me!
I'm so glad you brought this up -- often as we work on ourselves, we gain access to more different aspects of our personality structure, while still having our same main dominant type, as you describe. Thanks for illustrating this so well! 🤗
I tested as an entj I have have experience with numerology astrology and tarot I keep seeing 3 .8. These as positions are realized in my chart as sun in 3rd house moon in 8 and now I understand that I'm an 8 dominant Not being controled is an obssetion but i do worry about how i look in my activites achieving goals are fundamental drive finish the list allways
Interesting! You may have both 8 and 3 in your Tritype! To find your dominant type you'll want to look at the basic fear of each type and their main fixations rather than certain behaviors. I hope this is helpful! Thanks for sharing and adding to the conversation!🤗
@TrueYouSystems thank you I am anchored in astrology and numerology I'm interested in psychic performances for insights on intuition I am not a practioner I have learned and observed Many also i have studied runes and tarot since the 90s I have relations with people who operate a psychic fair I have meet dozens of psychics And readers and astrologers
Just realized I was an 8, this video. My father is an ENTJ and he's a 3. To be described as wanting control feels funny to me. The only times i want control are the times when that's the only way to not get controlled. Other than that, i feel more driven to win the way i know it's going to work. Often times, my way works. When we all win, we all win. But i would want to control the win if it was some other person's plan as well. I would just want to win. That's what i feel like. Not that i need to control people but i want my group to be successful.
I identify more as a three but I really don’t like to be told what to do, more so in my personal life. I guess it depends on the circumstances. But if I’m a relating a story about an experience and someone says “you should have done this or that or you should do this or that” makes me very angry. Like I don’t want to confide in that person again. Anger is def a feeling that is most prominent
Great examples and insight! 3s can definitely experience anger, especially when they feel that someone is holding them back from their goals. They can often be quite visionary and may not like others telling them how to do things, since that slows them down and sidetracks them from their vision. Being told they should have done something differently can also seem to imply failing to a 3, and they don't like that. Also, 8 might be in your Tritype! Thanks for sharing and adding to the conversation! 🤗
Im a 8 and you hit the nail on the head. We may not always some CEO. That's a stereotype. Im a truck driver and even though i don't own the company I'm the captain of my ship (my truck).
Really well said! For 8s, it may be the case that being affirmed really is more about being in control, since that's what motivates type 8. For 3s, by contrast, being in control might just be a means of gaining affirmation, which is their primary motivation. Thank you so much for sharing! 🤗
Totally! In fact, 8, 7, and 3 are known as the Go-Getter Triad -- I plan to make a video about that sometime, too. For now, you might enjoy my ENTP video, which is all about 8s and 7s. Thank you for adding to the discussion here! 🤗
I recently came across MBTi and I am a ENTJ. I am also a Gemini and thought this was why I had two sides to me. Your video has taught me how I actually 2 types of EnTJ..I would love to know more about this so if you can point me towards something I would greatly appreciate it 😊
I'm so glad this video was helpful to you! If you're new to the Enneagram, you might find the videos in my "Enneagram Basics" playlist helpful: ua-cam.com/video/I25HJVaFIQI/v-deo.html&pp=gAQBiAQB I'm excited to do more video about the different facets of ENTJ, as well as other similar types (I'm working on one about ENTPs, and I already have one about INTJs that you might enjoy). Thanks for contributing to the conversation! 🤗
@@yassermughal3692 Ok cool! It's exciting to explore this stuff for the first time. If you have questions about the other videos, just drop them in the comments 😊
But I think the 3’s can’t be considered to be the real ENTJ’s. Entj is represented as being always the same - The fundamentals never change. But the 3’s are objective-driven so when that changes the personality changes too. Seen that a lot! Whereas the 8’s are driven by endless energy and interest so they never change the fundamentals. I am an 8w7 so I know that from inside and out. I think only the 8’s should be considered as a true ENTJ.❤😂🎉😮
Interesting point! I agree that the most classic descriptions of ENTJ most closely fit Type 8. However, 3s are usually dominant in E, and can definitely be dominant in N, T and J as well, and put together that's an ENTJ. We also see most surveys showing ENTJ as a common MBTI type for 3s (with all the usual caveats about the limits of tests, self assessment, and surveys, of course!). If you haven't watched it already, you might be interested in this video on the intersection of MBTI and the Enneagram, and the limitations of each system: ua-cam.com/video/K_efTVWeaoM/v-deo.htmlsi=kGlk4P0tFxDArscf I'd love to hear your thoughts! Thank you for sharing your knowledge and perspective! 🤗
I had to learn to be softspoken, it was very difficult; while i understand i have to show extra care about how people need things worded and thru actions themselves, i find this painful because people are always needing to be babied but i have to rely on myself for everything because people are so flakey. Cant depend on them for shit, frustrating.
I'm glad you brought this up! This is something that I often hear 8s describe, and it can be really really frustrating for 8s to have to modulate so much. Very good examples, thank you so much for contributing this! 🤗
We’re not “emotionless”. Of course, as stereotyped you mention anger. Mmm-kay. We are also natural optimists, always seeing tomorrow in a positive light. We’re good at happiness too. Thanks.
I totally agree! ENTJs, both 3s and 8s, are not emotionless. In this video, I touch on classic traits people *say* about ENTJs -- stereotypes, in other words. But ENTJs are definitely human, and have a wide range of feelings, though they may show some more readily than others, depending on their Enneagram type. Interesting point about optimism! 3s in general tend to be optimists, and they tend to be very good at reframing setbacks and seeing things in a positive light. 8s tend to be less optimistic -- they can be quite pessimistic in their view of people, for example, since they see the world as a harsh, dog-eat-dog place that demands assertiveness and protecting the weak. But they are quite confident, and so optimistic in their power to effect the outcomes they want. Thanks for sharing these great points! 🤗
ENTJ 3w4 with 8 in Tritype checking in. Regarding emotions, since I have a 4w it's pretty easy for me to understand and know feelings, it's just that feelings are kinda overrated, they're chaotic, make little to no sense and hinder your longer term goals etc... Now F is king, every type uses logic as a tool to get what they want/desire, that want/desire would stem from your F function so I'm not really avoiding my emotions, I'm actually optimizing my emotions. I.E I know if I doing do X, Y and Z, I may get fired and default on my mortgage forcing the bank to sell my home I just bought 20% under market value thus fking years of my life since money is accumulated. Thus I would do a cost to benefit analysis and determine that I should swallow whatever the fk feelings I'm currently feeling otherwise I'm gonna feel 100x worse due to the consequences above so really I'm just a long term planner of emotions who optimizes, structures and puts in the minimum effort for maximum long term emotional gains.
I love your example and perspective! This really illustrates how 3s can be hyper-pragmatic and rational while still being driven by their Feeling center. Thank you for sharing! 🤗
ENTJ E8 does not exist. Those are mistyped ESxPs. The reason is that the enneagram 8 itself does not match the ENTJ temperament. But still, they can have E8 in the tritype.
I agree that often the way that ENTJs are stereotypically described does not match the way Enneagram 8s are stereotypically described. That being said, there is a lot of variation in how each of these types can present externally. Ultimately, the MBTI and Enneagram look at different things, and so the types from each system don't always line up neatly -- you may find this video interesting, as it goes into this more: ua-cam.com/video/K_efTVWeaoM/v-deo.htmlsi=p3w5GXSToY9hIWVw I'd love to hear your thoughts! Thanks for adding to the conversation here! 🤗
I'm predominantly an 8, but know how to manipulate or finesse situations... although it is distasteful bs and I have to move on quickly from that mindset.
Good point! When 8s are motivated they can finesse a situation but like you say it won't come easily or feel authentic. Thanks so much for sharing a great example!🤗
Bro I'm a mix. I love being a leader and i hate being told what to do. But i also love being an mvp, because once you get a taste of mvp pleasure and benefits, you never turn back. I'm way more mixed than i thought 😅😅😅
they are so rare all the "subtypes" come from mistypes. borderline psychos with huge ambitions, all of them. That ambition and lust for success resonates with enneagram 3, but they also don't have any need to "showcase" that, unlike ESTPs, so they are usually act like 8 toward other few people (usually subordinates).
Mistyping can definitely happen as you say and can be for a number of different reasons. Interesting what you say about subtypes -- I've always found subtypes helpful in seeing and understanding the nuance and diversity within a type. You make a good point about how the presentation of a type can vary depending on context (3's appearing similar to 8's sometimes, in your example). Each type is, of course, capable of the best and worst of human behavior, and these highs and lows will look different depending on the type. Thanks for your comment!
Interesting! Yes, you might have both 3 and 8 in your Tritype, which is your main type from each of the three centers of intelligence -- heart (2,3,4), head (5,6,7), and git/instinct (8,9,1). Thank you for adding to the conversation! 🤗
I AM ONLY 8 . 3 LOOKS REVOLTING TO ME. I HAVE WONDERED ABOUT SOLDIERS SAYING THEY HAD FEAR. TO BE HONEST, I WAS THINKING, THAT MAY NOT HAPPEN TO ME. I HAVE.COMMANDOS, MAJORS, SOLDIERS, BOXERS, AND STREET FIGHTERS ON BOTH SIDES, AND I DO NOT BELIEVE FEAR SEEMS TO SHOW ANYWHERE.
Im here to better understand TJ's and their wiring coming from ISFJ energy. I love them but I also secretly fear them lol but I know that's mostly fear of the unknown...I think im gaining a better understanding and their assertive, effective personality is very attractive
It's great that you're exploring and trying to get to understand other types better! You express well how our experiences and feelings around different types can be complex. Thank you for sharing! 🤗
I am mostly a 3, becos i am in mid-career, eventually i might be a 8 if i am able to find success as my own boss etc or have more power in the future.. In short, being a 3 to reach the status of a 8. Does this make sense? :)
Interesting! Ultimately, the Enneagram looks at internal motivation rather than external behaviors (which may be driven by that internal motivation but can vary a lot in how they look). So, if you are primarily motivated by a desire for affirmation for achievement, for praise and kudos, and being seen as successful, that's Type 3. If you are motivated by a desire to have full autonomy and not be controlled by others, that's Type 8. Do you want the status and admiration that comes with being the boss? Or are you willing to work hard and achieve so that you gain enough power so that no one has power over you? Thanks so much for sharing and bringing up this interesting topic! 🤗
After doing the test I am an ENTJ-T and dominantly 8. The anger one is different for me though as I control it. I feel it but hold it inside because as you said it shows emotion. Once I get to know someone I do let down my walls but how much depends on our connection. Someone at work about a year ago did say to me that I tell it as it is, that I don't sugar coat anything which is good but can get you into trouble at times. If I lead it's not because I want to, sometimes it might happen naturally without realizing it. I'm a technician who works mainly alone or sometimes in a team. If I am in a team in an area where the other techs are more skilled at I will follow them but will come up with solutions to problems a lot of the time. I also watched your vid on the numbers and I have traits of 5,6 and 1 also. I hate when you get a poorly planned job and go in unprepared. This though is where I do my best work figuring out what to do being the first one to do it.
These are such great anecdotes! You really flesh out Type 8 with your examples, and also illustrate some details that show how you might be different from other 8s, for example strongly preferring planning and preparation, which is reflected in you scoring J on the MBTI. If you're curious what a Type 8 looks like who has ENT but P instead of J, you might enjoy my video about ENTPs: ua-cam.com/video/WqsO0rYCqhg/v-deo.html Thank you so much for you insightful contribution to the discussion here! 🤗
Great point! I've stuck with the classic four-letter MBTI types since people are more familiar, but bringing in the Assertive/Turbulent pair adds another layer. For 8s, you're probably going to see more A-dominant types. Thanks for adding to the discussion here! 🤗

Same here it's like a big old middle finger.
ENTJ here. I’m 10 years into a career I willed into existence because somebody told me I couldn’t 😂
@@MarsellusWillis😂😂😂 crazyness but hell yeah
This is so well said! Thank you for sharing your experience and great examples! 🤗
O my gosh amen ❤ 😂
Random, But i need an ENTJ man's perspective on a recent encounter with an ENTJ man. Can I pick your brains?
I'm blunt. Trying to finesse people seems like a game.
@@qua7771 I don’t think speaking to people respectfully is finessing anyone. It’s simply helping them to be their best. When you rude/blunt to them do you think they will give a shit about doing a good job? You just sound like an asshole.
I got the exact same for mine haha

Tri-type 8, 5, 3
I'm just learning about this stuff and really enjoying it. Makes me feel less "alien".
I'm so happy to hear you're enjoying it and finding it helpful! Thanks for sharing!🤗
I suggest you try learning cognitive functions if you really want to know deeper without stereotypes. 16 personalities wouldn't cut it fr
Very 8, love it! 💯 Thanks for the comment! 😊
@@TrueYouSystemsthank you so much❤, yes I was always confused cuz I didn't belonged to just one!
same honestly i used to be a people pleaser because of the same reasons.. did you find out your mbti yet?
@@beigepiano-du5dkyup I'm entj 3w4. I used sakinorva test to identify my cognitive functions. It's always the same and I relate to the functions as they are. I hope you can find yours too. Love and light.
I have to say that your acting/costumes are great. The shark and it's accompanying music was gold.

Thank you for your intelligent analysis. I’m type 3 btw and I live under goals. They’re the meaning of life. I have zero interest in controlling others or being controlled.

Are you going to break down the other 14 MBTI types? 🙂
As an ENTJ/8w9, I think you are on point with what you are saying. You summarize it perfectly.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you liked it! 🤗
Thank you so much! So glad you liked!🤗 And I love that example, very 8 😎 Thanks for sharing!🤗
Thank you! So happy you found it helpful! Thanks for sharing!🤗
I totally agree with your explanation about the two types. I am an 8 ENTJ female. I often dont agree with all of the stereotypes for ENTJ’s. Now I know why. Because I am not a 3!!
I'm so glad this was helpful! Thanks so much for sharing! 🤗
Fellow ENTJ/8 -- very insightful video. Your observations are spot on.
Yay I'm so glad it resonated! Thank you!! 🤗
I am a blend of both.
Nice, thanks for sharing! 🤗
I’m a dominant 8, but years of forced humility in customer service and sales has blessed me into a 3 master finesser 😂
Interesting! It's great to develop other aspects of our personalities, not just our dominant pattern. Thanks for sharing your experience! 🤗
@@TrueYouSystems thank you for your insight!
Great examples of how 3 and 8 can manifest and interact within our personality structures! Thank you for sharing such great examples!🤗
Thank you for your video! I actually learn something from your video as an ENTJ /8w7. I love my autonomy and am seen as a high energy person.
I'm so glad you liked it! Thank you so much! 🤗
You get to be free. Work on your terms and make your money. Definitely an 8 because I do not care about image at all or what others think of me. I’m in power of myself because I control myself not others. That’s important to me. Lol I’m an 8 through and through.
These are fantastic examples that really illustrate Type 8! Thanks for sharing! 🤗
Great examples! This is really well said and highlights a lot of things than many 8s experience. Thanks so much for sharing your perspective! 🤗
it's a good way of putting up ENTJ content😄
I'm glad you enjoyed, thank you! ☺
great video! thoroughly explains the intentions behind each trait in entjs for both types. amazing analysis, thank you, enjoyed it a ton!
Thank you so much! So happy to hear you enjoyed it!🤗
She is right most of the time, wrong when it comes to how we feel about others.
Such a good distinction! Gave me a whole new perspective
Thank you!! I'm so happy you liked it! 🤗
I think I’m a mix of the 2
Yes, we can certainly have elements of more than one type, and usually do!
@@Thetruthgirl I appreciate your comment and I think we are the same in these points you mentioned

Good job! Eloquent, artistic, fun) You are such a beautiful person.
Aww! Thank you so much! So glad you liked it! 🤗❤️
If I were to rank from most likely to least likely types my prediction would be:
1. 8
2. 3
3. 7 - The tert-Se of the ENTJ leads me to believe they care a bit about having experiences.
4. 2 - They're an EJ they like helping people in some sort of way.
5. 5 - I had initially had this lower, but then I thought about the fact that type 5's look at a lot of real world data and facts like seeing thoughts in the world, extraverted thinking, the dominant function of the ENTJ.
6. 4 - Since they're intuitive I can see them being a bit odd and relishing in that.
7. 6 - I initially had this higher but now it's not.
I'm ENTJ 5.5 as per the logic discussed in this video
Interesting, thank you for sharing! 🤗
😂
I'm so glad to hear that this was helpful to you! Great example of a key 3 trait -- pragmatism towards a goal. Thank you for sharing! 🤗
ENTJ-A woman and definitely an 8. Thank you so much for your explanation. It was very enlightening.
Thank you! So happy to hear you found it enlightening! Thank for sharing!🤗
Very well explained!
Thank you! 🤗
This was mind-blowing 🤯
Yay! I'm glad you found it interesting! Thanks for sharing 🤗
Yay! So happy it was spot on! And fascinating how our enneagram types can even influence how our mbti presents! Great examples, thanks for sharing!🤗
As an ENTJ, while the internet results are talking about how much you can see the "3 traits" in ENTJs, I find myself much more of an 8. Thank you for the video!
So happy it resonated for you!! Thanks so much for sharing! 🤗
Gosh. Now my ENTJ traits make so much more sense. I am a 3!
I'm so glad you found this helpful! Thank you for sharing! 🤗
Like.. this video is super accurate - i personally go and relate more to type 3, but i got type 8 fro my enneagram. :D
ENTJ type 7 here. Typed by David Burke
Thank you! I'm so glad you've found it insightful!🤗
This is a great question!
ENTJ Tri 1,6,3! This video was on point!!
Thank you, very informative. I was multitasking while listening, so I'm not sure, but overall I'm definitely an eight.
Nice! I'm glad that it was informative 😊 Thanks for sharing! 🤗
This is a good video, ENTJ 8w7 here. Love this!
I love the career examples! I always only hear CEO, Sales etc. did that and hated it.
Thank you! So glad you enjoyed, and you make a great point! 🤗
ENTJ‘s over 35 - I don’t care, I’m in leadership already. I’m here because my assistant sucks and I want to know where I went wrong.
Hope this was helpful! Thanks for sharing!🤗
I strongly identified with both types.
So happy they resonated for you!🤗 Perhaps both patterns are in your Tritype (a mixture of one main type from each center of intelligence)🙂 Thank you for sharing! 🤗
8 all the way, wow, thank you for this video. I was unaware of the 2 types.
Yay, so happy you liked it! Thanks for sharing 🤗
Thank you! 💖 Great idea, that would be an interesting video! Thanks so much for sharing your ideas! 🤗
Legit, the first thing I think or say whenever someone attempts to doubt me is: "Oh you don't know me. I'll show you."
Haha! I love this example! So glad you found it accurate! Thanks for sharing!🤗
I tested as an entj I have have experience with numerology astrology and tarot I keep seeing 3 .8. These as positions are realized in my chart as sun in 3rd house moon in 8 and now I understand that I'm an 8 dominant
Not being controled is an obssetion but i do worry about how i look in my activites achieving goals are fundamental drive finish the list allways
Interesting! You may have both 8 and 3 in your Tritype! To find your dominant type you'll want to look at the basic fear of each type and their main fixations rather than certain behaviors. I hope this is helpful! Thanks for sharing and adding to the conversation!🤗
@TrueYouSystems thank you I am anchored in astrology and numerology
I'm interested in psychic performances for insights on intuition I am not a practioner I have learned and observed Many also i have studied runes and tarot since the 90s I have relations with people who operate a psychic fair
I have meet dozens of psychics
And readers and astrologers
*saves to watch again later* 😮 its excellent!
Yay! Thank you so much! 🤗❤
This is such a great illustration of Type 8! Thank you for adding to the conversation! 🤗
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you found it accurate, and I love your description, very well said! Thanks for sharing! 🤗
As ENTJ 8, this makes me laugh :)
Yay glad to hear it! 🤗
Girl you are the best!
I’m a new subscriber.
👏🏼👏🏼🌹🌹🎉🎉🫶🏻🫶🏻
Aww thank you!!! I so appreciate the love! 🤗💖🌸✨
As a entj, can i say being affirmed is just a part of being in control? and of course, being in control is prior
Really well said! For 8s, it may be the case that being affirmed really is more about being in control, since that's what motivates type 8. For 3s, by contrast, being in control might just be a means of gaining affirmation, which is their primary motivation. Thank you so much for sharing! 🤗
Entj 8w7 with tritype 8x3 will have both 8’s and 3’s traits
If you're new to the Enneagram, you might find the videos in my "Enneagram Basics" playlist helpful:

I'm excited to do more video about the different facets of ENTJ, as well as other similar types (I'm working on one about ENTPs, and I already have one about INTJs that you might enjoy). Thanks for contributing to the conversation! 🤗
@@TrueYouSystems I’ll definitely have a look..not sure what Enneagram is/are tho 😝
If you haven't watched it already, you might be interested in this video on the intersection of MBTI and the Enneagram, and the limitations of each system:

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Thanks for the info! you are also stunningly beautiful!
I'm so glad you found it informative! Thank you, you're far too kind!
I was gonna say ENTJs are turned out to be really blunt and agressive but now i see it better, im an ENTJ 3!
Yay! I'm so glad it was helpful for you! 🤗
Your gesticulation is called the tumble dryer haha :))
Haha it's hard to talk without using my hands! I get too exciting when I'm talking about the Enneagram! 🤗
For unknown reasons, I suddenly began to have problems focusing my attention on the topic... serious problems.
Hope you were still able to get something out of it 😊
ENTJ E8 does not exist.
Perfectly done.
Thank you so much! 🤗
Costume changes on POINT 😂
Haha thank you! 😄
Nice!! And excellent description of how we can be a mixture of the Enneagram types that are in our Tritype! Thanks so much for sharing!🤗
entj 3w4 and 358 hope the data helps u
I appreciate you sharing this! 🤗
ok the shark got me 🦈so funny 🦈
Haha! Glad you liked it! 🤗
they are so rare all the "subtypes" come from mistypes. borderline psychos with huge ambitions, all of them.
ENTJ 1w2 here. Rare but it does exist.
Totally! While less common than ENTJ 3 or 8, ENTJ 1s definitely happen -- thanks for sharing and adding to our understanding! 🤗
Im litterally a combination of 3, and 8
Interesting! Yes, you might have both 3 and 8 in your Tritype, which is your main type from each of the three centers of intelligence -- heart (2,3,4), head (5,6,7), and git/instinct (8,9,1). Thank you for adding to the conversation! 🤗
*gut/instinct 😅
I AM ONLY 8 . 3 LOOKS REVOLTING TO ME. I HAVE WONDERED ABOUT SOLDIERS SAYING THEY HAD FEAR. TO BE HONEST, I WAS THINKING, THAT MAY NOT HAPPEN TO ME. I HAVE.COMMANDOS, MAJORS, SOLDIERS, BOXERS, AND STREET FIGHTERS ON BOTH SIDES, AND I DO NOT BELIEVE FEAR SEEMS TO SHOW ANYWHERE.
This all sounds very 8! Thanks for sharing 🤗
There is no -T and -A in your type. Take another typing test that's not 16P. It's not accurate enough. 👍🏾
Great point! I've stuck with the classic four-letter MBTI types since people are more familiar, but bringing in the Assertive/Turbulent pair adds another layer. For 8s, you're probably going to see more A-dominant types. Thanks for adding to the discussion here! 🤗
Great videos, funny n informative 🎉❤
