I appreciate your carnivorous plant videos. I've been growing them for 20+ years myself. Had to cut back a bit as I ran out of room, I have no greenhouse or space to put them during dormancy so they go in the fridge in October through January. Then under lights until it's warm enough outdoors. Cheers from the N.E. United States!
Very nice collection of VFT Mick. I repot mine in October during dormancy to let the plant settle in. In the winter I put my VFT in a cool basement in trays that I barely fill with water. Just enough to keep it moist. I am also very vigilant about removing dead leaves in the winter because they are more likely to mold up. Thanks again for the informative video Mick.
I didn't had so much luck with the venus fly trap in inorganic media...killed them all....I need to give it another try because all my other carnivorous plants are doing great in inorganic media. Yours are looking great❤
I know this is a video from a year ago but, I thought I’d make a comment for any other future viewers. The Venus flytrap is indigenous to only one area on earth, North Carolina. Many people make the mistake of thinking that it’s a tropical plant, it is not. It must have a cold winter rest, I live in maine, USA and left mine outside all winter and it came back beautifully in the spring.. just google North Carolina weather and that will give you a great foundation for your Venus flytrap care.
Hi Mick, thanks, thoroughly enjoyed listening to you, however mine are struggling. I am in East London, UK, appreciate your suggestions for appropriate growing media, please. Many thanks. Selva.
Selva at the moment I’m using a mixture of peat moss and perlite about 50/50 which has worked fine for me, but looking for alternatives for next season.
Hi Mick Thanks for your review. Theyre looking great! Do you have any suggestions for potting media as I cant get hold of peat moss ( and dont want to!)? Thanks
@@MicksMasdevalliaorchidsI see thank you because I am looking for a greenhouse right now but not sure what to buy may i also ask how big is it? Thanks!

Thanks for watching and commenting Tommy it’s great to hear from other growers around the world how they grow these beauties.
That’s a man who doesn’t need to worry about insect problems.

Thanks Sma I’ve only ever used peat moss and perlite so next season I’m planning to try alternatives but I find they easy to grow with minimal effort.

@homejames5087 it’s 6x6 in area but they do have low sloping roof panels which can be a bit of a bummer until you’re used to it lol .
