In this film alone, he wrecked one in Rome, had another in Naples, had two godamned more in Brazil, then had one again wherever the hell they were at the end. I mean, logistically, how is he even transporting these everywhere?
If this is the start of a new trilogy then they should just add another X to each movie making the third one Fast xXx and it could be a Fast and Furious/ Triple X crossover with Vin Diesel playing both Dom and Xander
30:25 Jason Momoa is so tough that he can wear old colorful granny glasses chains and a 12 year old girl scrunchie and nail polish and still be intimidating lol
Dom has always been Latino coded in the franchise. They’ve been much saying he’s Dominican without saying it hence why he has so many ties with Dominican people and him having a white brother Dan easily be explained. Latino is not a race, there’s plenty of Latino families that are multiracial.
Felt the first 3 flicks amounted to a bunch of professional pretty people trying too hard to appear edgy and cool. Legitimately like parts 4-8, plus Hobbs & Shaw. Now it’s come full circle. It’s like a bunch of professional pretty people trying too hard to be tough by dumbing things down. Will catch this on HBO. Hopefully it fares better than F9.
It's funny to see these guys watching the FAST franchise go to the ridiculous lengths that they used to once joke about, like Doctor Strange watching the multiverse tear open before his horrified eyes. "Dear God... they actually went to space? Han's back from the dead? WHY ARE AQUAMAN AND CAPTAIN MARVEL HERE NOW?!?"
People always talk about how unrealistic the fast and furious movies have gotten. The real unresisting is that Dunn is gonna be able to provide for a family, have a garage, have tools and equipment for these cars, be able to supe up these cars run a diner and pay a mortgage for a house.
He will play a former Blockbuster employee. Toretto, back in his early twenties, returned a bunch of tapes without rewinding, causing Pascal's character to be fired. He has been plotting his revenge for years.
Using a car as a landing pad after falling hundreds of feet to then drive that car to save your son by having him jump from a spinning car into your spinning car. I’m convinced Jason mamoa was giving us his best Deadpool impression, and I can’t unsee it.
Saying the stunts in this are way more extreme than the last is a damn lie. Not one stunt in this compares to them swinging from a f****** vine wit a car. Let alone going to space. Then saying no director made their mark??? Two words. Justin Lin.
Jason Momoa, "I get to be the bad guy finally. I’ve been the good guy for a while,” he explained. “He’s very sadistic and androgynous, and he’s a bit of a peacock. He’s got a lot of issues, this guy. He’s definitely got some daddy issues.”
Honestly the Fast and Furious saga is the perfect example of a franchise that simply just overstay their welcome, simply based on the question of “what more do you have to offer aside from you giving me the same old shit and trying to up the ridiculous levels to 11. To me it’s less having to do with betraying where it came from because I never thought the first one was all that good, but they found their stride with Fast Five and seem to love how over the top these movies have gotten because despite how stupid it gets and them defying logic, there’s a sense of believability and part of the charm was that they didn’t take it all that seriously. And they could’ve ended on a solid and emotional note with 7, but with 8 and 9 you can feel the magic has worn off and they start to take this shit too seriously. At least with other big blockbusters, John Wick may be just as invincible as the Fast and Furious characters and nobody goes into them for the dialogue, but they’re well crafted, the stunts and action sequences are first rate to where you’re still engaged, and even despite them making spin offs, they ended on high note with 4 and the quadrilogy don’t have one dud (the weakest which is 2 IMO still being solid). Mission: Impossible, only had one stinker with MI2 but after that, they got better and better with each installment, plus they actually have stakes. Sure they might’ve used CGI in some moments, but it’s Tom Cruise actually doing those stunts and they keep you on the edge of your seat because there were times where you thought Ethan Hunt was gonna die. Hell even Marvel, I know it’s common thing to criticize them lately, despite some valid criticisms, but I never agree with the whole notion of “Man they should’ve ended after Endgame.” Cause I actually do think they can tell stories with the remaining characters after the events of Endgame while introducing new characters that we haven’t seen brought onto the big screen or in the universe like Blade, Fantastic Four, and X-Men. The MCU’s biggest problem recently was that it was inconsistent and that it was focusing more on quantity > quality, though part of that seems to be more on Disney and luckily it seems like they’re trying to fix that and heard the criticisms. But even when you think Marvel has lost their magic with like Thor: Love and Thunder and Quantumania, they still gave us stuff like No Way Home, Wakanda Forever, Shang Chi, and recently Guardians Vol 3 that show that they still got life left in them to where I’m still invested in what’s going to happen even if certain projects are going to be better than others. At the very least, I always go in hoping they’re good or at least I like them, like for any movie no matter if it’s a big blockbuster or a small indie/arthouse film. But with Fast and Furious, I just don’t know what more they can offer. Even hearing that it’s 2 hours and 21 minutes and it’s a Part 1 of 3, it just seems like, no pun intended, that they’re running out of steam at this point even if I hear there’s fun to be had with some things, specifically Jason Momoa.
First off this was a very dope analysis! Secondly, I think the only way you could possibly still change up the Fast series is if they just flat out said “My Family and I have actual Superpowers” and make it an actual superhero genre type franchise. I know they basically are doing it without saying it BUT if they call the thing a thing, it could potentially be interesting. 🤷🏾♂️
@Jo Ol I literally mentioned it in the comment that at least Marvel has an excuse where they have decades worth of source material with dozens of characters, whether old or new and storylines to make projects with. As great as The Infinity Saga is, it barely scratches the surface of the Marvel universe and there’s so much more you can do with that franchise so it make sense to “milk” it. And unlike Fast and Furious, even if Marvel isn’t as consistent with their quality as they used to and trust me I’ve been underwhelmed by some of the recent entries, they still have put out some great movies/shows in between. Even some of the mid-tier entries are still enjoyable and great moments in them. Fast and Furious however, what more can you offer aside from trying to up the craziness even further?
Right now the only villain that doesn't have a revenge arc on Dom's family esp. for Bryan and Roman is Carter Verone. I can't wait for part 2 and 3 for Fast X.
I loved most of the first seven, thought eight was okay to see once, and i hated nine. I fully expected to absolutely hate this one and i have to say i kinda liked it. Jason Momoa was over the top in a good way and the action did not seem boring like it did in nine.
I don't think the movie is saying that he heard her, its more so that he understood her body language. This movie was shlock from beginning to end, and I loved every second of it. Even as a film critic, you have to set your expectations properly when watching these types of movies. It's not a thriller, it's not meant to be. They crossed that bridge five movies ago, or should I say they jumped that bridge and landed on a car five movies ago. You watch it for the spectacle and for just pure entertainment.

It no longer makes sense and it hurts when I hear others say "oh, the fans are just along for the ride rather than for the story and characters." 45:25 Well Martin did said it perfectly. It kinda obvious they prefer the more “grounded” tone of the first than what the franchise has become starting with 5. Cause I saw their Spill review and they seem to be in the minority on that movie.
@@gcolbyp Oh yeah, I remember that Spill review, with them being down on 5 for sure. Even at the time, I was like "Shit, maybe I'm crazy because I really liked 5". Low and behold, 5 is still widely regarded as the best overall film in the series, hitting that sweet spot between grounded and absurd. I just don't think they realized at the time that the shift was an *intentional* one. It really is down to your personal tastes and expectations of this franchise. If you want something grounded, of course you're not gonna get it here. It's like walking into a "Jackass" movie and criticizing it for being too gross. This franchise knows exactly what it is and wants to be, and it sounds like they're catering to the audiences that prefers that. Can excess be too excessive? Sure. But if they wear it on their sleeve, I can't be that mad at it lol. I know my own tolerance level lol, as do everyone else. I absolutely predicted how Korey & Martin would rate this movie, along with Julian lol. To be fair tho, the fact they're not giving this "Some Ol' Bullshit" or even a "Fuck You", shows there's still entertainment value to be had, even in this era that they don't particularly care for.
@@thedefinitionisthis I mean I’m somebody who’s willing to accept a movie being dumb fun and I agree when going into these movies, you know what you’re expecting, but I do agree with Martin in terms of these movies basically giving you same structure you come to expect, “A villain connected to Dom and the group’s past comes in and mess with their lives and crazy hijinks in sues.”, it’s like I get some people they ain’t going to care and just want the dumb action, but what more do these movies have to offer besides them pushing the limit of defying logic and physics? Like it was fun at first with Fast Five, but now especially this being Part 1 of a trilogy for a finale thinking they like Infinity War and Endgame or some shit, they’re kind of pushing it and I think it’s been starting to wear on certain people, not just Korey and Martin, but even some fans of these movies and critics who’ve like 5 and onwards until 9 and so far this movie.
@@gcolbyp I definitely do agree that the structure is getting played out. 5 & 6 worked extremely well IMO because they didn't bank on that structure. F7 was the real beginning of the structure of: villain with some connection to Dom coming back to wreak havoc, and hilarity ensues (Charlize whose character essentially had hands on the events of 6 & 7, in 8; Cena being' Vin's brother in 9; and now Momoa being the son of the F5 villain, in 10). I think what they do offer outside that structure is definitely where people's tastes come into play. Because all they have is the excess and the challenge to outdo the previous movie in terms of craziness. For me, I personally like seeing the creativity in that, despite the obvious absurdity. I know FOR DAMN sure not everyone is gonna like that though, and that's cool too! To each their own. I totally understand how it starts to wear. Like I said: comes down to your tolerance level lol. In the case of Martin & Korey tho, they never really liked where the series went from 5 on anyway. If they weren't to fond of arguably the best movie of the series, for damn sure they not gonna like what comes after lol. All this being said: I think it would be a colossal mistake to stretch this to a trilogy. I was down for a two-parter, but three definitely feels like much. Even tho I liked F9 okay, i definitely felt F7-F9 was weak overall.
They still do some of the stunts practically. Obviously the big crazy things aren't, but I do appreciate seeing millions of dollars worth of cars explode.
I wish they'd do a way more stripped down spin off with a way more Tokyo Drift vibe. Or a spinoff with Helen Miren trying to set up a UK/Eu "family" to race Christoph Waltz (he seems he'd totally get the F vibe)
Man, remember back in 2 Fast 2 Furious when Roman could actually throw hands. Like, he pieced up Brian the second he got out of the car, it was on sight. He was also one of the better drivers and according to the lore of the movie, he taught Brian a lot of his driving skills. Then the later movies come and he's just the punchline for seemingly everything. It wasn't until this movie that they shoved Ludacris into the comic relief role with him. Maybe it's me expecting too much but I personally feel Roman was a wasted character potential. On another note, I wonder why Hobbs ended up being the only character aside from the 2 Fast 2 Furious garage crew who didn't make an appearance. Maybe they're saving him for a big return tag team battle of Hobbs and Shaw vs Jason Mamoa and Idris Elba. Polynesian vs Polynesian and Brit vs Brit, it would be a fight for the ages in the Fastverse.
This movie is basically the fast family vs captain Jack sparrow. If that sounds chaotic, well, it is. What I can’t comprehend is how something so chaotic could be so boring
Catch Phrases: Kory - I don't wanna make it seem like I'm hatin ( continue to hate ) Martin - Sure Skinny Black Dude - AhahahahahahahahahahaHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I like dumb things and complex things. I dislike dumb things masquerading as complex things. This is why I’ll take Fast X over GotG 3 every time. If you don’t like dumb things, you should not go near a Fast movie. They gave me what I wanted since Fast 6 ended. When she came out of the submarine, Fast XI instantly became my most anticipated movie of the next 3 years. If Ja Rule ends up in Fast XI, the universe will be complete. Fast XI is the Endgame level event of this franchise and I’m all in for it.
As long as it's entertaining that's all I care about. That's my only criteria for a movie. I'm not some movie snob that needs over the top Shakespearean acting, just simply entertain me.

I actually think James Wan did leave his mark with Furious 7. This was the first Fast & Furious movie that felt like it was winking at the audience and just fully went for broke. This was the first F&F movie that felt like self-parody and it is all the better for it. The rest after Furious 7 have been trying to recapture what that movie did, but they fail to do it imo.

Dom has always been Latino coded in the franchise. They’ve been much saying he’s Dominican without saying it hence why he has so many ties with Dominican people and him having a white brother Dan easily be explained. Latino is not a race, there’s plenty of Latino families that are multiracial.
Dom been "coded" as being Italian if you look at his sister in this movie but that's my opinion lol

The double toasted family
Felt the first 3 flicks amounted to a bunch of professional pretty people trying too hard to appear edgy and cool. Legitimately like parts 4-8, plus Hobbs & Shaw. Now it’s come full circle. It’s like a bunch of professional pretty people trying too hard to be tough by dumbing things down. Will catch this on HBO. Hopefully it fares better than F9.
41:02 I disagree about no director leaving a personal mark on this franchise. Justin Lin brought this franchise back from the dead
Dom lifted a car with 1 arm
No Don and the others have been rich since a few films back. Also, they get paid by the CIA
Jason Momoa and Brie Larson own this film.
They knew exactly what type of movie they were in and ran with it and I loved it.

Are you really telling me they killed off, Roman, Ramsey, Tej & Han when they just got him back 😂
U know NO BODY DIES
They just brought Gal Gadot back, ain't no way those 4 are dead. They'll come up with some Fast & Furious science with how they brought Han back 🤷🏾♂️

Prediction: Pedro Pascal will eventually be in a Fast movie. Guaranteed
That guy’s in everything. I think I saw him in a Captain Crunch commercial recently 😂😂😂
He will play a former Blockbuster employee. Toretto, back in his early twenties, returned a bunch of tapes without rewinding, causing Pascal's character to be fired. He has been plotting his revenge for years.

I'd say Justin Lin and James Wan (Furious 7) left their makes on the series. I think 7 was probably the best directed of the bunch.
Once again, my timing works out as I just came out of the theater showing Fast X. I can't wait to hear what they have to say.
I remember watching the first movie, what feels like 50 years ago, and I never thought it would turn into this wacky franchise.
Fast X seemed more toned down than part 9.
What was done in this movie that was more ridiculous than what’s in part 9?
Using a car as a landing pad after falling hundreds of feet to then drive that car to save your son by having him jump from a spinning car into your spinning car.
I’m convinced Jason mamoa was giving us his best Deadpool impression, and I can’t unsee it.
@@mersongrimI was thinking a Gay Bro Jack Sparrow
@@Bigedub101 I can see it.
Saying the stunts in this are way more extreme than the last is a damn lie. Not one stunt in this compares to them swinging from a f****** vine wit a car. Let alone going to space. Then saying no director made their mark??? Two words. Justin Lin.
Dude literally turned bomb with car, car on fire after explosion
@@benjaminjenkins394 Maybe that would change it for them to flat out admit it. 😂 Also thank you.
Well said
Do the rebels beat the empire in the end? Other than that, Imma need Cliffs...
It's my favourite of the 8 to 10 "super car riders" era. Momoa and Ritchson were amazing.
I was hoping for classic cartoon bomb with the fuse, I love those.
My boyfriend and i gave up after part 5. But we both agreed we're THIS far, might as well finish 😅😅😅

As an original Fast and Furious 90s kid, I left the franchise after Furious 7. The story is no longer there. Even Leon from the first one never came back to the family yet we have villains being added. It no longer makes sense and it hurts when I hear others say "oh, the fans are just along for the ride rather than for the story and characters." I got off the ride and standby as it burns itself down in nitrous and gasoline.
Im pretty sure in the next movie Jason Momoa's character will be at the barbeque
The Fast And Furious franchise is the best live action anime series.
The only thing that matters is family.

I'm not gonna lie, even with everything they (and other reviewers) are saying that are critiques/negatives to the movie... they're kinda exactly why I gravitate to these movies in the first place lol. So I'm game lol. Looking forward to catching it tonight with my crew. Or ahem... Family.
45:25 Well Martin did said it perfectly.
Lol smh no wonder these movies have been around for 20 years...
Didn’t Hobbs actually finished off Dante father on the bridge!?
Yes
Hobbs is in the post credit scene
Yep, he walked by him, pulled his gun out, and shot him in the face, all while not even bothering to look.
F&F can be summed up by saying if you break out the clowns, next you’re gonna have to break out the circus.
I think they don't want to since Tokyo was the least profitable one I liked it though
Come on y'all. By now everybody knows that before watching any of the fast films, the first step in preparation is "so I smoked some weed" 😂

7:32 "they playing Rocket League" 😂
It was the rock didn't wanna appear but he will appear in the next movie now
This movie is basically the fast family vs captain Jack sparrow. If that sounds chaotic, well, it is. What I can’t comprehend is how something so chaotic could be so boring
The underrated thing about part 9, is Tyrese became aware how crazy this shit is. Also, they actually took internet jokes and put them on screen..

I like dumb things and complex things. I dislike dumb things masquerading as complex things. This is why I’ll take Fast X over GotG 3 every time. If you don’t like dumb things, you should not go near a Fast movie. They gave me what I wanted since Fast 6 ended.

I think 1 is fine and 5-7 make for a nice little trilogy. I think Paul Walker not being able to be in them anymore hurt the franchise. I always felt he was the most human character in the franchise.
