    At 36:33, Thank you so much for touching on a very important part. I had heard simular things like that. (Many have said the same about Christianity over the years.) What made me decide to have an open mind and investigate myself was learning that Doctor Martin Luther King also followed Swedenborg. Living with chronic health issues my whole life and been very close to leaving many times, I no longer have a fear of dying. Being raised in the black Christian Pentecostal/ Baptist churches, we were taught that being a "Mystic or Interfaith" is bad/evil. (I've always disagreed with that ) When I was younger I was always told I had a beautiful Aura, as I got older I started researching what that meant. Now that I'm an adult, I have an open mind! Being non-denominational. I love learning, there is so much out there to learn. It was a breath of fresh air to watch this and I am really looking forward to learning and reading so much more. I wish there was a Swedenborgian church in my area! Right now I'm learning everything I can online with the books and the videos. You all have been so gracious with the material being fair priced/free, That is beyond generous! Thank you all for that. Looking forward to buying all the books that you showed, to build my collection.

      @@spiritual_sunshine_ Many blessings to you as well and thank you for connecting also. I'm actually considering becoming a Swedenborgian, I'm just trying to see what all it entails there is no church in my area, so I'm looking at maybe if I can become a member online it's so much out there and a lot to take in. As of now I am a non-denominational Christian, though I was raised Pentecostal and Baptist. ( my mother is also a minister she has been over 20 years.)

    How does Swedenborg deal with the dark parts of the OT? Is OT canonical in his teaching?

    • @spiritual_sunshine_
      @spiritual_sunshine_  5 місяців тому +1

      Thanks for the questions! Swedenborg believed that although the literal meaning of the OT was cultural to the Hebrews of the time, there is also an inner spiritual meaning of consistent allegories (Swedenborg inspired Jung's "archetypes"). Meaning he thought that many of the books of both the OT and NT (not everything and not the letters of the NT) were essentially channeled texts that used the allegorical nature of the spiritual realm and the human mind to convey deeper truths. This is made plain in the Bible during the more allegorical parts and Jesus' parables.

    Was Oscar Wilde influenced by Swedenborg? Seems to be with the portrait of Dorian Grey

    The simple fact swedenborg taught another gospel. His problem is that he allowed angels to teach him that he could mediate with Paul and others like Augustin when the bible teaches that Jesus Christ is the only mediator between God and man 1 Timothy 2:4. We as Christians say we believe in God because of the Bible, only the Bible and nothing but the bible. He added to what the biblical teaches on things like there is marriage in heaven and we will have children in heaven. No, we will have glorified bodies in heaven we will not be angels. He also denies that Christ is the only way to heaven on what He did only on the cross. Swedenborg says you actually are the one who gets yourself to heaven which is another way than the gospel. We get to heaven by God giving us a free gift lest any man should boast the 2:8-9. He denies the trinity which the bible says anyone who denies the Father and the Son is antichrist 1 john 2:22. I think you're sincere but you aren't saved by a born again in Christ or you wouldn't teach such craziness. May you see the truth before it's too late. Be blessed

    • @spiritual_sunshine_
      @spiritual_sunshine_  7 місяців тому +1

      Swedenborg actually didn’t say that we have children in heaven but that our offspring would be good works. Also, it seems as though your statements are more meditations on Paul’s letters than Swedenborg’s writings are, which are more centered on Christ’s teachings in the gospels. It’s good to note the differences as Paul never once quoted Christ or referenced any story from the gospels. Many thanks! 🙏

      Please cite where it is said that Swedenborg allowed angels to teach him that he could mediate with Paul and Augustine.
      Also, what exactly do you mean by "mediate" in that context.

      @aservant2287 7 місяців тому

      @@thenowchurch6419 in a book swedenborg wrote sections 268-69, 272-74 he talks about talking to angels. To mediate is to speak for someone else on their behalf.

      @@spiritual_sunshine_ my friend you're delusional at best. Obviously you're not saved through being born again because God's people know the difference between error and correct doctrine. You can delete my comments all you want but in the end you'll still go to hell because swedenborg denied the Father/Son relationship and it says if you follow or teach this you're antichrist 1 john 2:22. Swedenborg talks about talking to angels in his book " heaven and hell" .

    What took away from this presentation was your use of words. Did you mean explanation when you said and the subtitles wrote “expiration” at 19:13? And in other places. Just what does “Swendenborg’s ex-pir-a-tion of the afterlife” mean? And the word conjugal is not a rare or unusual word. It’s CON-ju-gal, not con-JOU-gal. Watched because I just learned William James’ father was a Swedenborgian theologian and wanted an explanation, but it’s difficult to grasp a message when the words in that message are problematical. And your “selling” your beliefs at the end was off-putting. As for the afterlife and what’s on YT, the detailed stories about NDEs on several YT channels devoted solely to NDEs give all the info anyone needs, no church required.
