    This documentary was an entrance stage showcasing Swedenborg’s achievements. I believe Swedenborg was misunderstood in his era and as the times changed, his work became noticed. I have found new meaning in God and Jesus since listening to Swedenborg’s work.

    Very intriguing man whose perspective strikes a chord with memories of my earliest spiritual understanding. As I near the final chapter of my life, I find his insights familiar and tugging on me to further contemplate. My ancestors on both sides were Swedish, with family representatives in the ministries of the American Swedish Lutheran Church; so it’s possible I was introduced to some of Swedenborg’s insights when I was very young. I intend to undertake my own informal studies of Swedenborg’s spiritual philosophy.

    Although questionable his visions and beliefs about the afterlife and spiritual world. He seemed a man of love and certainly wise. His work regarding concordance in the Scripture and it’s spiritual interpretation has been a true blessing to me and others in understanding the Scripture. Though he leaves much work undone in regard to understanding the Scripture he has lit the flame for many of us in the dark.
    And that I believe is of God.

      You are on track. So long as you can have some grip of the Internal Sense of the Word and apply it to life or live by it, then you are being led by the Lord Jesus Christ into Heaven. You should by now have no doubts about life after death. Man is but a spirit clothed with a physical body so as to be able to live life on earth. While on earth we eare expected by our creato to live a life of Faith and Love

    Did Swedenborg hint anything about reincarnation? I don't embrace that idea but many things about it. When he talks about creating the next life. Swedenborg was definitely a gift. The Bible and all science and philosophy are Hermetically inspired and Swedenborg nailed so many things.

    • @SwedenborgFoundation
      @SwedenborgFoundation  Рік тому

      From what Swedenborg observed during his 27 years of daily spiritual experiences, we spend just one lifetime here on the the physical plane and then continue our cycles of learning and development in the spiritual world, rather than coming back to earth. But Swedenborg does briefly offer an explanation for the experience of "remembering past lives" which has to do with the fact that in spirit people can easily share memories with each other in a very vivid way. In this video, "Do We Reincarnate?", Curtis looks at the differences and similarities between Swedenborg's reports and reincarnation beliefs: ua-cam.com/video/kVYKEfpnxj0/v-deo.html

    I would love to watch this but the intro (first two minutes) is too "woo woo" and the loud music completely drowns out the documentary. It's a shame because knowing Swedenborg's background is important as a basis for listening to what he had to say to the world. It would be so beneficial for the Swedenborg foundation to consider doing a new, updated professional quality video of his biography.

    I question whether psychic awareness might be different from spiritual awareness of the afterlife, thinking psychic awareness may be "expanded knowing" of the physical world (like the Stockholm fire ES spoke of here) where spiritual knowing may be beyond the physical. I'm thinking there may be two separate paths of knowing, one not related to the other. I have experienced "expanded physical awarenesses" since childhood but wonder if they are connected to my spiritual knowings....don't know...

      I think there was some music that UA-cam thought was copyrighted, so we chose to have UA-cam silence the music for us in that section to avoid issues. The sound should return to normal shortly after that section! Thanks for your patience!

    • @fuatkurban353
      @fuatkurban353 6 років тому +1

      Swedenborg Foundation the same music is playing before and after the silencing. The narration is silenced as soon as a portrait of Asian master (Suzuki sensei?) comes on. So anyone can undersrand that the channel has censored some part of the story that connect swedenborg with Suzuki sensei. The reply about music wouldn't satisfy even the most dumbest of your listeners, I think. :)))

    • @SwedenborgFoundation
      @SwedenborgFoundation  6 років тому +4

      Nope, we haven't censored anything, it is a music issue with UA-cam in the introduction of the video, but thanks! The connection between Swedenborg and many other thinkers, including D.T. Suzuki (you were right!) is mentioned again later in the video, and we have a lot of resources on our website if you want to check them out: we have a have a whole book by Suzuki (swedenborg.com/product/swedenborg-buddha-north/), and some blog posts about him (swedenborg.com/scholars-swedenborgianism-zen-buddhism/), and you might also be interested in our video about Swedenborg and Buddhism on this channel (ua-cam.com/video/GBbuaPLIkE4/v-deo.html). He was obviously an extremely intelligent man, possibly surpassing even Da Vinci. But what many fail to consider is that genius and honesty are not strongly correlated. A brilliant mind may more easily deceive others, including themselves. Having said that, I must admit that this is an interesting video of fascinating man, and much of what he espoused is definitely true. But it's always a mistake to trust anyone more than the Most High...the Great Spirit in Whose presence we all live, who confirms one way or the other what we may learn from each other.

    The loud music makes you concentrate on the narration. Its like focusing on a person and tuning out the background in real life...

  • @DaphneMaine
    @DaphneMaine 4 роки тому +1

    Is Swedenborg's state of heightened consciousness properly being interpreted as "intense concentration" ... did he document this term?. Or were his new awarenesses perhaps just the opposite....that of surrendering the brain/intense thought to the greater awareness by means of "surrender" in meditation, that state where the "walls of intellect are dissolved, surrendered" , where thereby the subtle "knowing" of the mind of the Divine finally is heard? I'm wondering if "intense concentration" is more a logical mind intellect wrong interpretation that may be disallowing what we now know as "surrender" of scientific thought. When we stop forcing the brain/thought to get us to that place to which it CANNOT go...then the exhausted seeker falls into the arms of Divine Wisdom which may take us to that place. (per thousands of years of Eastern India experience).

    Yes, he was brilliant, but after Swedenborg, in the 1800s, the world started to have dependable information from the life after this life through the Spiritism, through Alan Kardec's Spirits Doctrine. Spirits Doctrine goes beyond Swedenborg' s Spiritual experiences, so The Spirits Doctrine is the answer. However, I have to say that I really look up to Emanuel S. He was brilliant 👏 he was ahead . I can also say that he could've been the first Spirits due to his mediumship and other spiritual faculties. He really met all the standards for being a good Spirits: good moral character, spiritual connection, God in his heart, and science in his brain.

    This is from 2006? It has a really 70s feel. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just pointing it out.

      I don’t really agree. It reminds me a lot of educational videos made in the 90s that we used to watch in school. The use of synthesizer has that 80s or later sound. The video quality is too good for the 80s, let alone the 70s, but clearly prior to the turning point when made-for-tv films have production values comparable to cinema at times.
