Roger Vallve Nice! One site I would highly recommend you check out is www.hondatwins.net It's a forum that specializes in our bikes and bikes of that era, and there are guys with very extensive knowledge about them. I got a lot of help from them when I was restoring mine, check them out! If you join make sure to include pictures they love them!
Hi Roger I am in Niagara area. Do you still have the bike? What can you tell me about it? There is one for sale I am looking at but I've heard these bikes run high rpm because of how the semi auto trans works
@@RidersInBlack i don't have it anymore. I found it rides great but high rpm on highway. Fuel tank a bit small too. You can shift early to keep rpm down in town. otherwise great bike. super comfortable
Yours is so clean and new looking, mine runs probably about the same though the crome is blacked and I use it for back road touring in the Montain valley in Montana. I love it because it sips fuel and loves to clime through terrain, old highways, dirt roads, and dunes.
Very good vid, and bike! I have an '81 w/33k. Never been apart, runs like new. Fork done just once in 37 years. Doesn't burn or leak a drop of oil. 62mpg all day long. Extremely reliable.
Dave M I have essentially two micro oil leaks - one is at the left head gasket and on the left front of the engine. They are micro because they don't drip oil but after a couple thousand miles you see where it is barely wet. Great little bike, they made the engines bulletproof!
Bought a decent example of 1979 CM400T with many accessories. Pretty interesting bike to ride on. I'm coming from 2014 Honda VFR 800 and 1994 Honda VFR 750. Now, the CM is my third bike, and I mean 3rd. I have all of those in my garage. I'm also vlogging 🙃. Good job!!
Does it start on 1st gear??. I just got a cm400a today, but i dont know how to put it on nutral ,with key on on i can switch it fron 1st to 2nd but dont know how to put it on nutral to see if it start
Great bike! I miss MY Candy Apple Red one, from way back then. I have never seen another bike with the 'star' shaped wheels on it. I thought I got a 'odd bike' as it was, being an automatic, but the wheels were the 5 spoke stars, jut like yours. Instead of all those thin wire spokes that it seems ALL bikes have. always thought THAT made it a VERY sturdy bike. Always wondered why Honda put them on this bike, but not on their BIG bikes. Lived on that bike for over 2 years, daily, even on I-95 here in Ft.laud! Never droped it, and I lived through it:) I would KILL to buy one. Wish I could find another one, that wasnt rusted out, or junked.
The candy apple red ones are beautiful! When I was getting mine repainted I thought about doing the red version as I found some red decals but decided to go with the original color. The wheels I found out are called Comstar wheels, and depending on the year of the bike you got either the ones like mine (where the edges are curved in) or where the inner star parts were pointed out, showing off the metal on the edges. I think they didn't put them on bigger bikes as the wheels are riveted together so although sturdy on smaller bikes, perhaps the massive weight of larger bikes were too much for the wheels because the wheel wasn't one solid piece. Thanks for watching and commenting, and I love that you used to have one too! Makes us like long-distance cousins, twice removed! :)
I dont know which wheels i had. Don't recall which way the edges curved. Do you know of anyway to find one, today? Or are they all about gone, or rusted out and junked?
One site I've used a ton is: www.hondatwins.net This site has experts on these types of bikes, and the people there are awesome. A lot of them keep spare parts on hand or know of others that have them, so I would visit the site and post on the forum about any questions you have! They have helped me a lot with some of the repairs I did on my bike.
Got my 1980 , almost completely refurbished. Got it running great, everything worked good. So now , I'm taking it apart for repainting. Frame too. Mine is olive green at moment, thinking maybe some sort of browns.
I found mine on the internet, after some searching. I can't remember the exact site, but I know Amazon has some kits (although I'm unsure if they work). I found a site (www.siriusconinc.com/m/products-detail.php?product_id=495) that has a kite that looks very familiar, even the box it comes in looks familiar, but as of now the site is out of stock. Good luck to you!
1. Gorgeous bike man, eye candy. 2. What front brake caliper is that? Desperately looking for a replacement for mine (82' CM450 C) after spending 4 weeks trying to rebuild it. Gonna try that braided cable tho..
¡Buena suerte!
Damn bro 750 bucks! That’s crazy.
haven't seen one of those bikes in years thank you for sharing it :) RSM8 :)
I just picked up a 1979 Cm400A! Nice vid. I am in Hamilton, Canada

I had this bike in high school cause my car would only seem to start half the week lol. I want another
Gorgeous bike. And great job.
Thank you! A lot of hard work and TLC went into it. Luckily it wasn't in too bad of shape when I got it, just a lot of general age work was needed.

try 4 oz of Blue Devil in the oil store.gobdp.com/oil-stop-leak-49499/ it will work in about 100 miles.
Sweet! I have an '81 :-)
I have the exact same one. It's my baby, I wouldn't trade anything for that bike

Why don't you purify your bike in the waters of Lake Minnetonka? It will turn it purple.
