Not on instagram only FB . We came across the Porsche stuck in the sand on a slight rise. They had the winch cable wrapped around the RHS half shaft. My driver took to the side of the track and then reversed up to the Porsche and we attached the tow strap and pulled the car out. Jurgen approached us at the next control to thank us and say the Opal was amazing in the sand. We could easily catch and pass the Porsche in the next competitive section. Bruce
I randomly watched that trial a couple months ago, now this popped up in my feed. It'd be cool to see if the drivers are still around, what they remember about it.
Oh cool. One of the comments below is from one of the drives in the race, they actually towed this car out of a sand dune. I'll do some hunting to see if I can find the drivers this weekend, great idea.
@@OutlawGarage Wiki says Jurgen is still kicking, but in his mid 70's. Hopefully he'd be responsive to sharing some stories, I can't imagine how hard it was driving for periods that long over rough terrain, an adventure worth hearing for sure
An absolutely brilliant Porsche 924 and what an amazing piece of Porsche and Australian rally history, hope you enjoy this look back in time.
Very keen to follow the restoration of this piece of aus rally history.
There will be a follow up video or 2 👍👋
What an interesting car! Thanks for the video!
Cheers, no problem 👍
I remember we towed this car out of a sand dune somewhere in SA . Jurgan Bath was surprised that our Commodore was so capable in the sand. Bruce
Wow that’s amazing, were you racing?
We were in a Holden Commodore with the last of the racing XUI specification engine . If I rember correctly the diff was a Detroit locker . Bruce
@ fantastic, I’m always amazing how these videos reach people and the history they have. Are you on Instagram at all?

@ I’ll do some digging and see if I can reach out to him 👍
Finally something of substance and not the usual bunch of preening peacocks pissing in each other’s pockets.
Well glad you like it, historical substance 👍
Say what you really think mate!!! Takes all kinds of peacocks to make the world go around @markstclair6426
