It's insane what you get for the money. The guitar looks and feels great. It's well built. Played it for hours with a lot of bendings - had to tune only one string a little bit. The sound is absolutely fantastic for 159,-.

I gotta say that I love the blues track at the end. Great presentation as always, sir. Just ignore smart-ass trolls, don't even reply to their comments. You are really doing a great job, everybody knows that. Who would review cheap Chinese crap, & talk about same thing ten times in a high-end studio all day without getting paid. These guitars worth it and you should get paid for this, seriously.
Your demo video was very helpful. I put Dimarzio 36th paf set in this guitar and it's amazing! It was good at stock but now it's great for the price. This guitar is also very light weight to compare many other LP models which is very nice feature. Solo cut also on neck great feature to have. This is like perfect les paul.

I've just bought one of these (lemon drop finish) after watching your videos. What an amazing guitar - I can't believe how good it is for such little money. The pickups sound amazing, the fit and finish of the hardware really good, the frets are well finished. My only criticisms are that the tuners are OK (they work well, just feel a bit cheap) and the nut is a little sticky. I will say the scratch plate is very flimsy - but this is not a problem as it was going to be taken off anyway. I'm so impressed with Harley Bs I'm aiming to pick up a few more - a semi a strat and a tele are all on my list!! Keep up the good work and looking forward to more great videos!

Nice demo as usual, I have to say that I am a proud owner of this guitar and I only have nice things to say about the same, nice sound due to the nice Wilkinson PU's, well built hardware it is not top notch but does its job well. The only upgrade that I suggest, and I'm going to do on mine, is to upgrade the nut!
I just bought a second hand L-450 Plus Lemon drop for 120,00 Euro with Wilkinson pickups and it is awesome.
Cant stop playing her. I have never played a big G, though, I own a big F Strat USA, but I prefer LPs for the thicker sound, but I think I would not be happier with a big G, as I am not a great player, just playing for my own pleasure. I use a GT 100 and headphones, nice sounds!!! Greetings from Innsbruck, Austria to all of you!

I got this guitar partly because of this review, and it is amazing! Quite a heavy beast, but it is unbelievable that a guitar which such a low price plays and sounds so awesome. Seriously, it plays nicer and 'more fun' than any Gibson I tried. Mine is a three-piece body too, and it came setup almost perfectly! Highly recommend this one (though, the price is 159 euros :P)

I just got mine yesterday the HONEY BURST version got it based on your videos, will be ordering other HB models soon. I already have a few more Heavy style guitars, that are not so good on little overdrive/distortion rock sound they always just sound like metal guitars. Picked this up and plunged it in and right away I could hear Rainbow, GNR, Ozzy, it just has that rock sound and I totally love it.

I bought mine at the Thomann Flea Market for about 40 EUR. Mint condition, just the the neck pickup volume poti is broken. The guitar is awesome! It's light, the tone is marvellous. It will be my new working guitar :)
What I don't like (and what I will definetly change) are the ugly poty hats, the truss rod cover (urrrgh!!) and the mechanics (although they really work fine)

I have a question though: from all HB you've tested so far, which one has the best tuners and action? I want to acquire the HB L-1000 VB Progressive because of the metaly sound but the tuners are a little turn off for me.

+tidevaihto I thought the L-1000 was the weakest one of this review series... the new one I have waiting are great too.... I would go for the HB SC55o Paradise Flame... that is a great LP Style guitar... super fat and pretty..... if you want a metal axe with bite and weight in the tone... the CST24 is a serious guitar for that style... no shit...

+tidevaihto Thanks...there is a 70 minute "2nd impressions" video with links underneath if you can't wait for my in depth demo of those guitars.... the CST24 is a serious metal monster... it has a good mahogany attack with a enough high end to really cut through a mix... that one paired with a great distortion pedal and you are flying... seriously !!!

I just bought an Oscar Schmidt LP , the logo under the name on the headstock is exactly the same as the Benton your playing. Did the same manufacturer make both guitars.

Would the pickguard for a real Les Paul fit on this guitar? The reason I ask is that I would either take the pickguard off altogether or replace that horrible bit of white plastic with a clear pickguard that you can get for a regular Les Paul.

You should try the s620 I have just got one and my guitar teacher says it plays like his £2000 Ibanez the only problem is the floyd goes out of tune relatively quickly
I want to replace my tuners on my sc 450...I've never replaced tuners before. Can you recommend some locking tuners that you think would work well on this guitar and not be too difficult to install?
Harlye Benton has locking tuners... I would always go for Graphtech Ratio Tuners, but they are not the cheapest

I would get the Cherry Burst, but I think the amp on the G88 Set is better....

I would say that they are pretty much the same thing...

Yes!, for live cab micing, save your money, get the T.Bone and don't tell anyone. Forget the 'For the money' qualifier. Recently purchased a t.bone for micing my little amp and can tell no difference. It does the job without fuss, aggro, colouration or feedback. I couldn't tell you about handling noise or vocal reproduction as my singing is so bad I don't even sing to myself.
Last gig, all the house mics for drums and guitar bore t.bone labels, which is what convinced me to pour more money into Thomanns coffers. Not a lot of money for a fit and forget mic.

Hi! First of all, really nice videos! :)
I started playing acoustic guitar about a year and a half ago and recently I started taking some electric guitar lessons. I plan on playing all kinds of rock and metal (from alternative funky rock like red hot chilli pepper to hard rock and classic rock like guns'n'roses and three days grace, to grungy stuff like nirvana, foo fighters, pearl jam, to sorts of punk like green day and rise against, and even death and black metal like dark tranquillity and dimmu borgir - all these examples are to give you a precise idea of what I am talking about). I will also play very little blues and jazz, but not much. Still, I wanna be able to play clean tones pretty well, not just distortion.
Out of the 6 HB guitar you reviewed, which one should I get ? My other options are Ibanez GAX-30 WNF and Dean Evo Xm Sn. Please state your opinion on those (can't find a good review).
As far as amps go, please recommond me a 10-15 watt amp that can get decently loud too (solid state, no tubes), as I plan on playing with a band in the near future. For the amp my budget is about 90€.
I know this comment is very long, but please respond. I really want your opinion. ^_^

Casual MTG well, I haven't played the HB I-500... the best bet for those styles would be the L450 Plus... I would stay away from Ibanez and Dean in that price range...
You won't find an amp for 90 Euro that you can use in a band. Transistor is much quieter then the equivalent Tube Wattage... a 15 Watt Tube Head could survive in a band, but no less.... and with Transistor you need at least 50 Watt... but I would go for tubes and you'll have to spend more money.
EytschPi42 If I'll get a tube amp, won't I have to replace the tubes periodically ? And if I get a tube head, must I get a 1x12 speaker too, or can I use computer speakers or something of that sort ?
you have to replace the tubes every couple of years but it really depends on how much you play the amp. you do have to get the speaker for it or just get a combo

Came to see what the Dr (Henning) had to say about this model, since I am now putting it at the top of my wishlist for my first guitar instead of the Harley Benton DC Custom, which I fell in love with until just recently I saw the price go from 168 eur to 222 eur (more than 30% increase)!!! I hope it's a mistake, but I am already getting used to the idea of getting this one instead...

+Valezz the main difference is the looks and the sc-500 is made out of basswood and maple neck as for the sc-450 mahogany body and neck.

I really don't like the body finish. I don't say it sounds bad (because it doesn't) or that it is a bad guitar, but the finish looks really cheap. I mean, Thomann could make it better on this guitar.
By the way, I love the HB ST-62 Vintage, I think this one is a better guitar. As soon as I get the money, I think I will buy it.

#EytschPi42 Why aren't gibsons no longer well manufactured? I agree that they're making akward stuff for the 2015 line... (we don't need automatic tunning robot, nor adjustable brass nut, nor crappy pickguard, nor pretty much everything they're comming up with lately...) But what about the ones from last years? I've been looking for one but never had chance to actually try out one.

They have been making awful guitars for a long time now... chambered to make them lighter... they are all "classic" Gibson look with no classic Gibson tone.... I payed many.... you can find a good one, but you need to look for a long time... my student and I looked at the PRS SE singlecuts at a store... and they had two €3000 Gibsons... visually and totally they were a total joke and the €700 PRs killed both of them... I have had good ones here in the studio, but they cost 3500 Euro and above and even then you gotta be lucky...l even Zack Wylde's guitars just say Gibson on the, but are not actually made by Gibson... their production quality is in the toilet, sad but true.
Thank you for answering EytschPi42! I've given a look also at the single cut line PRS and they look quite nice (actually really nice...). For what I've read they're quite nicely built, but that bridge with no ajustable intonation concerns me a little. Obviously they must work, they wouldn't be bought if not, but I'm a little skeptic. What do you think about it? Do they work for all string gauges? Do they have good sustain?

obviously, if this was a problem, they wouldn't do it. Even my €6000 Modern Eagle II has that type of bridge... works just fine...
thanks... interesting comment... to be completely honest.. I have no clue what they are doing and what they are up to over at Gibson... I don't consider them worth buying at all.. it at those prices and not at that quality. Many other companies offer more value for the money. I know a PRS does not offer the classic Gibson flair, but when it comes to tone and quality, there is no comparison...

I'm considering one of these. I was looking for info on them and then I looked at my subbed channels to see you had covered them. Are you spying on me?
I was thinking for my next guitar I'd go for a Tele (still a possibility) or a Les Paul Studio. Problem is, I don't like the new Studio (even last year's with the horrible coloured plasic hardware). I don't know if I should buy one of these as something that I'm not scared to beat up a little or save for something better. I'm 31 and all I've ever owned are "inexpensive" guitars. Hmm, decisions decisions.
wait for my next demos, you'll see and hear extremely good and expensive guitars and maybe you save up for one of those!

Yes you can play jazz , just play pentatonic scale and then go next high position the same scale but not for too long and then come back to the original scale in previous position ;) improvisation on say Am only ...here we go JAZZ
I got that guitar in honey burst. I emailed them they don't want to take any responsibility for the broken toggle switch or the oddball tuners. Grrrr. Don't have time to send it back because the kids birthday is in a couple weeks. Put a bad taste in my mouth to say the least. No options here to send pictures or you would understand what I'm saying.
