- $243 Harley Benton Guitar almost didn't make it to my door, but was is worth the wait? This is an unsponsored honest review, I paid for this guitar with my own money. Should I keep it?

The Cherry Burst is a deeper red around the rim, but same in every other way as the honey burst shown here. Sometimes they have deals for free shipping which can bring the cost down by around $50 US (I paid for my shipping).

You bought a great guitar at a fair price. Harley Benton is amazing. The reviews say it all. They don't make bad guitars but quality control is hit or miss. That's nothing diff from any other manufacturer. I appreciate their pricing. While many OEMs are inflated by brand hype. I have a high end Harley Benton played ALOT on my channel. It's a nice Fusion T HH FNT. Silly name but is just that. Fusion tele HH flamed to the teeth. Stainless frets , locking tuners and Alnico splitting coil roswell. Truss wheel adjust intonation is an icing. As well as the tusq nut. I got mind on reverb damn near same cost. 400.00. But it was strung wrong. The nut is great but they cut it a bit oddly on outside but I think the guys luther friend wasn't a luthier. My son in law got a hold of it and fixed it up. All is well and the chipping or chafing of the headstock was not told to me by the seller. Anyway I love it. The bridge Humbucker seems to be loosening connection so I need to fix that. Nothing is perfect so just like any other guitar upkeep is important. I won't spend 1000 or more ever on a guitar. Keep it up man. I almost commented on the negative bashing at your playing. It's obvious we all start sometime. I admire your video for doing exactly what the title claims. Thank you. See you around the tubes brother. Peace
Robert, thanks for the great and thorough comment. Yeah it plays great but there seems to be a a lot of shipping stories like mine or worse or at least folks are sharing their worst cases with me.
Bought exact same guitar,a few months back.Shipped to U.K .,and arrived via UPS in three days!In perfect condition;-absolutely flawless!Regarding the packaging;-they are made in the Far East,Indonesia ,I believe,but set up in Germany before delivery.Mine was spot on for intonation,and almost exactly in tune when it arrived.Oddly,I purchased a hard case,at the same time,assuming that they would put the guitar in the case,and ship as one item,but-NO!Arrived as two seperate packages,both in their own boxes.The case,by the way,is also superb. Black plush lined,and fits the instrument perfectly.
Edit.It’s not coil tapped,it’s coil split.Switches out half of the humbucker to give more of a single coil/telecaster sound. Coil tapping picks different impedances on the same coil.

at least you are different, You made honest review about thomann's quality in terms of packaging and quality of their Home brand guitar Harley Benton, other people get mad when someone is being honest making reviews specially those reviewers/ affiliates of their brand which made promotional video behind the name of a "review".

If mechanically ok, I’d vote to keep as well. Curious if you’ve seen the Spark practice amp. I got one last Summer and it’s pretty fun. Wish my playing were better and that I had more time to practice.
Mike, thanks for the vote. My brother has a Spark and likes it a lot. I've come up with a micro-learning process called 555 or triple nickel. Five things I want to learn, five minutes a day for 5 weeks or 5 months. Playing the guitar is one of the "5." Like you I'm busy but I've found I can always squeeze in 5 minutes, some days its tough and I delay going to bed until I get all my 5's in. I've found particularly with guitar I end up spending more like 10 minutes willingly and feel great afterwards. I guess its part of my mental fitness program...
They have sent me three to the UK and all have been damaged.
I ordered one a few weeks back and emailed them to put more packing in the box, only to be told it's not down to the shop.
So packed in China or wherever and distributed from their warehouse in Germany.
I have a claim going with them again, happy days!
On the other hand it's a HB 35 Plus mettalic green and apart from the cracked finish between the neck and body it plays really well and stays in tune like no other!
John, wow my situation seems trivial to yours. Not sure what to think about the shipping though, seems like the cost there are small compared to their products and reputation. My guitar plays well also. Think I'm going to keep it.
Regarding packaging, I ordered an SG style guitar at the end of November from a UK company which was delivered by DPD to me here in the UK. When I opened the outer box which seemed okay the guitar itself was damaged-so I had to send it back for a replacement; still waiting! It was slow to return it due to problems that DPD are having at the moment, and it's Christmas! So frustrating!
:))) the last few seconds made me smile. i know that EXCITEMENT of when your box arrives. !!!!!!!!!!! (yeah i get a lil too excited. *waiting* can be excruciating. i have my first electric guitar on order, a teal/ish les paul and aaaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuuuuuugh the waiting. my brain is like ORDER A BUNCH OF STUFF THAT WILL GET HERE IMMEDIATELY!)

@@MakeItorBreakItNow my teal/blue guitar is a diff manufacturer - xavier.... still needs a setup. wondering if the harley bentons are better. that shipping to the states is killer... $70 that could be used for parts. so is it better than a guitar that starts at $200 i wonder? (also is it buzzy/hum at all?)

Hahaha, join the club sir .I ordered the same guitar and had almost the same problem and I live in Germany, northern Deutschland . I had to take four photos of the box . The sad part is that they put an amplifier, jambox , accessory pack and the stand all in the same box . One corner of the box was crushed . I guess customer service wasn't in a good mood .hahaha . Took two weeks for my refund . 🤔

Bob, they are solid guitars, no regrets here although after playing it hard almost dail for well over 18 months I'm starting to get a slight buzz on the third string bridge.
It’s kinda OK if you review a guitar despite the fact that you don’t know how to play guitar yet. But I would argue tuning the guitar first is not optional. 🤗

Yeah it sucks that your box was damaged, I would be upset too, but really your video is about 10 minutes long and you spent the first 1/4 of the video talking about a box?
permculture, valid point. Next time I shoot a guitar video, I'll aim to do better.
Keep it but good lord tune it, change the pickups, and learn to actually play !

true, its not the best...
HB guitars are utter rubbish, the necks are twisted and all frets are different heights, total waste of money, beyond beginner guitars...
Always Right, so far so good for me, not had any of the issues you mention above. But based on how they're shipped, I have no doubt there might be quite a variation in quality.
