Got my Speedmaster because of this channel, got the motone risers because of this channel and installed them (my very first solo modification of a motorcycle!) following this video. Thank you, Mr. Fillingham!
Thanks for the video and detailing the torque specs (38 Nm for bar risers; 24 Nm for bar clamps). Just installed on my T120 and didn't need to loosen the wire clamps. I did unbolt the tank and moved it back a few inches to get better access.
I just performed this mod on my Triumph T100 and it made a very noticeable difference! Thank you for bringing this to my attention and for the procedure!!
I like how you put a towel over the tank and how careful you are to protect your bike. The little things make a difference. Great video. I want to do this with my 2017 Triumph Scrambler.
Great video, fitted these to my Speedmaster as I also fitted the straight bars. Probably worth mentioning that the rubber mountings can fall out of the yoke when removing the bolts. Managed to fit these without having to remove the wire cable retainers.

Great video! I just installed these risers earlier today and it really does make a huge difference in the riding position for a short guy like myself - it went from feeling like a poorly setup cafe bike to a proper standard. It just feels "right" now. Now I just need to do something about that awful front brake.

How great they had the initiative to manufacture something that makes all the difference. Congratulations and thank you very much for presenting us with details. Regards
Just ordered, been waiting for something to come out as we do 5 - 8 hour rides and the palm of my hands and shoulders sure know about it. Thanks for the info
Good video, great help. The wire keepers were hard to get off on my Speedmaster, a lot of Loctite had obviously been used. The hardest moment was attaching these back!
Cracking video my friend! I just installed these on my '22 Bobber Gold Line after watching your video. I was able to gather all the tools at the ready and had the torque specs in mind thanks to you. Really appreciate the detail and the good lighting. Going on a ride later tonight but I can already tell I'm going to like them 🙂 Also BTW, I used "copper grease" on the riser and clinch bolts, and blue Loctite (medium strength) on the cable keeper bolts.
I put ~80 miles on her today and I can say the Motone risers offer a HUGE improvement. I can now sit firmly in the "pocket" of the seat. Beforehand I was riding it with my nads all squished up against the tank like a dirtbike. That was the only way it felt like I was in control. I'm 5'10, about 190 lbs, pretty normal build so it was kind of confusing. It's still the least comfortable bike I've ever owned (mostly due to the miniscule suspension travel) but it's far more bearable now. 100% required Bobber upgrade IMO.
Installed today. Thanks for the how to video. I do feel we “undersold” the difficulty removing the *********** cable keepers. Anyway, the up and overs in conjunction with Grip Buddies solved my hand numbness issue. Thanks for the great video!!!
I have a set of these and when I install them I notice some flexing of the bars because of the added leverage pushing on the rubber bushings. Is that normal/ok? They didn't come with instructions and I can't get an answer from the company. Thank you!
Was about to go out to the garage to install these, thought Motone might have install instructions on the product page (they don't), then thought... Maybe UA-cam has the answer? And, of course, it's Stuart to the rescue.
Because everyone likes closure ... 1) I think this will be a nicer riding position for longer rides, but will take some getting used to even though it's only 1-inch up and 1-inch back. 2) I now own more tools ... after two trips to the hardware store. Basically a completely normal install.
Nice video Stuart, those handlebar risers certainly blend in very well with the existing Triumph brackets and fittings. I must say the bobber is not quite my cup of tea. I did go for a test ride on a T120 a few weeks ago and I just could not warm to the bike at all. This was very disappointing as I had already been onto the Triumph website and decided on all the options that I wanted to be fitted (Vance & Hines pipes etc...) I eventually ended up buying a Honda Goldwing which to be fair is a bit of a beast but I really enjoy riding it. First journey was from my home near Nottingham to Eastbourne, the bike ran like clockwork, although she is a bit thirsty on the fuel.
I like the subtle change in the look and love your descriptive name for ape hangers (Scooby Doo). I feel the same way and will keep that name handy. Do the handle bars in the new position, interfere with your ability to see the speedometer and other instruments?
Stuart, I added these risers to my Bobber a year ago but just noticed that my handlebars can be pushed up and down slightly with a little bit of force. Everything is really nice and tight and Bobber came back from service today and I asked the technician to check it out. But they still move a bit. Is that normal...? I’ll call them tomorrow, but they’ll probably just point to them being aftermarket...
Appreciate your question. I just got my from the dealership and I noticed a little give. I can budge them a little. A little lame in my opinion. I’ve gotten several Motone times and they have a lot of style, but it’s definitely aftermarket. The finish, fit, etc isn’t what you’d expect from the name and price. Not to mention all the videos and social media stuff out there. Regardless, much more comfortable with the risers. Just wish it was like a stick fit.
