I like this bike because it looks and sounds old school. i'm 55 years old, and this is perfect for me to just cruise around the city from beer pub to beer pub. i have Japanese cruisers, crotch rockets and a 250 enduro in my garage. this bobber is what i need to add to my single man lifestyle in the U S. thanks
My first bike I rode was a 305 Honda in the Philippines. In 1970 I bought a Triumph T100R and rode that for 5 or 6 years. The Next bike was a 1948 Harley EL Chopper , I rode for over 40 years. I'm now 75 and riding my Triumph Bobber. The best Bike I have ever had.
Nice review. Just bought one for myself. One comment: the rotating speedo is not merely a gimmick. In sunny conditions, the glare off the large glass surface can be brutal.

Killed, not maimed, not damaged, but killed it so dead only the names remained to be purchased by different (and competent for a fucking change!) management. John Bloor revived Triumph and make far better machines than the originals of which I've owned several. (Still have a Trident and pre-unit 650 Thunderbird). Purists should do what they do well, which is RESTORE the old machines and fuck off when it comes to whinging about the new sort. If modern Triumphs had been available in 1972 they'd have shitcanned their old rides so fast is would make sonic booms.
Ob Fuscated, not just Triumph. Those 70s/80s vintage bikes just about killed motorcycling if you don’t like trying to break the speed of sound on a crotch rocket.
Thanks for you appropriate comments. I made 32.k kms at today. Let me add a couple of issues: a. I disagree about your opinion of standard rear fixed shock absorber: has short stroke, on bad roads it's almost inefficient, I had some hard bumps to my back. Therefore I decided to option for an adjustable shock absorber, that is really more efficient, 14 levels, comfortable. Unfortunately it comes for ab. 350€ but... "problem solved". b. I changed three couple of tires (had also those with the white side). Now I'd like to change tires with other Brands that look better, but my Triumph Dealer said Avon Cobra is the only one tires eligible for Bobber. Is it true? Overall, I am very happy with this retro bike. Its design comes from a 1940's Triumph model
Love the looks. I live in Scotland and some of my rides I can go 100 miles between petrol stations so the first time one was shut I'd be stranded. Someone out there fabricate a nice bigger one?
I'm more of a Bonneville guy but the bobber is really growing on me looks-wise. I saw a black one last weekend that had the classic chrome four bar Triumph badges on the tank. It looked great. I wish that was a factory option. I'm guessing this guy bought a couple badges for a bonnie and put them on himself.
Having a hard time choosing between this and the HD Street Bob. The downside is that I can't take a passenger but not sure how often my other half wants to go for a ride either.
Both great bikes, I woudl say this is more refined, but maybe not as much 'character' as the aircooled Street Bob? The pillion could be the clincher in the deal of course. But then there is always the Speedmaster?

Way off on a number of points. I’m now on my second bobber and love it as much as the first one. 250km fuel range is not that bad. Change the bars to apes and the riding position is even more comfortable. Agree on the brakes but ride with that in mind. 18000 kms on my first set of tyres and I do ride long haul rain hail or shine. The Avon’s are brilliant, I couldn’t want anything better.
First video I have seen of yours.. great job.. I am looking at one of these but tend to do longer rides.. more highway cruising. Fuel is no issue..plenty of fuel stops in AUS.. the comfort might be a challenge though.. thoughts? Having said that I have a ST1100 in the US that I rode from LA-Texas.. and ride a W800 currently..all of which I get sore on.. hmm.. maybe I should harden up!
I wouldn't let that put you off the brand, I had one for a weekend a couple of years ago and it was one of the most uncomfortable bikes I'd ridden. The new Speedmaster is miles ahead of the old one
As a past Triumph owner, my preference is the traditional style T100/120 Bonneville in either the red or orange. If I had to choose another brand, it'd be hard to go past the Kawasaki W800, particularly in that stunning blue metallic, featured on the 2016 model. I go for the classic look every time, as somehow I find it very hard to appreciate the current look of the other big bikes with their arse end pointing at the sky, looking like some giant had sat on them and bent the frame in the center. Each to their own I suppose...
David Hamilton You can’t beat a classic and until the new T100/120 came along the W800 was more of a Bonnie than the Bonnie, if you know what I mean? What is good is that there are more styles of bike available than ever before perhaps? Something for every taste
Thanks for your prompt reply. Yes, I totally agree. I also agree with you in regard to the W800. Can you confirm for me if they still release it in that blue metallic colour. I can only find the 2018 model to be an all black limited edition model. While this model would be an awesome machine to own and ride, I still much prefer lots of chrome for a true stand out effect. Besides, to clean and keep clean Matt black mufflers/engine pipes would be a nightmare. Cheers...
Where do you live David? I'm pretty sure that 2017 was the last year for the W800 in the UK/Europe, so its no longer available as a new bike. Its all about the Z900rs now....

Hii really liked the video, I have a triump bobber and a harley sportster . On my Harley I have a V&H ShortShots Exhaust which is mind blowing and my Bobber is still running the stock and I am really looking for a lounder Exhaust for that what do you suggest ... V&H or other custom made..??
I only had the bike for six months over the winter, so I can’t remember a time when the fan came on 🤔 would have been nice for a lot of the riding I did! 😂
Love this bike but think slightly used BMW R9t has more power and looks to back it up and same price range.I am going to be honest bike feels like a toy the diminutive size puts me off.I may be wrong but that's my impression
Hehe, Scoot Jockey, a bit of a throwaway comment really, but I’ve always preferred scramblers or similar bikes. Something I can rag around the countryside, so a cruiser always seemed a bit ‘limiting’ to me. Perhaps I’ve changed my mind now......

what can i say apart from to$£""!$%, lets take your comment about the clocks first , have you never been caught in the situation were sun is shining in your eyes reflected from the clocks. brakes well maybe you should your rear on the odd occasion. mind you if you only drive in the sun you maybe never need it. i have covered 8120 since April when i brought my bobber. the only things i have been concerned about have been are the rear shock which is rubbish and the fly by wire which does take some getting used to. for a bike that only has 2 inches of travel at the front it handles superbly. hate people like you who review bikes get some mile under your belt and then come back with a considered review.

Firstly I never made any comment about the sun shining in my eyes from the clock. Secondly the brakes are ‘wooden’ on the initial bite, which did ease off as I put the mileage on, I never said they were bad, but it’s interesting that Triumph chose to go with twin discs on the Bobber Black. Oh and going back to my point about assumptions, how do you know what my braking technique is? I tend the use the rear more than the front in general riding anyway. Only drive in the sun eh, well I had the bike for 6 months starting in September, the video was filmed in December and I clocked up just under 4000 miles before it went back. I don’t know where you’re based but there isn’t much sun in the uk over the winter. And just why wouldn’t you need a rear brake if you only ride in the sun anyway?! As a Bobber owner I thought you would be aware that it has 3.5 inches of travel in the front forks and not 2. Hate is a strong word, so I’ll say that I dislike ill informed trolls who comment on reviews without watching them. Overall, I am very happy with this retro bike. Its design comes from a 1940's Triumph model
Triumph will only recommend tyres that are homologated with the bike at manufacture. The reality is you can fit any tyres you like.

Speedmaster tank will be a straoght swap. Somebody allready switched to the t120 tank, thats no straight swap but seems manageable.

Yep should be fine, it’s a relatively relaxed position. If you have really long legs you might want to consider forward pegs?
When the radiator fan turns 0n do you feel the engine heat blowing towards your legs??

Its low, but is the same length as the other modern retros. I'm a bike fan of the R9T, but its aiming at a different market.

Needs a slightly larger fuel tank without that silly flange. If pajeets can make repop tanks without it, so can they.
A bigger tank would be useful, but then I see this as more of a cruiser for around town.
