Boxtruck wrestles with 11foot8 bridge while train crosses
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 бер 2019
- On March 13, another rental boxtruck got stuck at the canopener and ended up in a bit of a wrestling match with the bridge. Right at that time a train crosses the trestle as well. After about 10 Minutes, the bridges finally lets the truck go, but the driver still has to deal with the impatient car drivers, before he can finally get his busted truck out of there. This was crash # 144 since 2008.

There needs to be confetti released when someone smacks the bridge.
Hahahaha, yes, this.
They would never keep up with cleaning it
LMAO
There is. It's made out of the truck
Or fireworks
If I ever visit the US, it’s not the Golden Gate or Brooklyn bridges I want to see, it’s this one!
good choice
where is this bridge.. city... state?
There is no special about the bridge. It is only lower than some others.
The special are the drivers that ignore signs that warn them from a disaster. And that there is not only one such driver - no, there are many - too much for a civillized society.
But anyway - you need luck to see a crash. The camera watches the whole day...

Poor guy? The driver ignored ALL warnings, including a lit up sign tellin them to turn... not poor guy, they are a moron.

Honestly the best part
my fav part, it's like READ YOU IDIOT
"Overheight? Must turn? That must be for that other vehicle shorter than me. I'm good."
5 seconds later BANG!!!!!!
I wouldn't assume the driver was able to read any of the signs, more like, to read at all. Probably never finished elementary school either, if these things are really so difficult to them.
@@JonWylan the driver doesn't know the height of the truck he's driving more likely.
@@Songer80 yes...thats why theres a flashing sign saying that your truck is too high.
@@VoidplayLP To be fair, it doesn't specifically say YOU are overheight, it just says that "over high vehicle must turn". To someone not familiar with the bridge, that could just be a generic sign. I see the same kind of things all the time.
I love how this is such a common experience that drivers simply drive around the wreck.
Lmao in another video it happened right as this one dude stopped at the intersection and after a few seconds just drove on through like "I didn't see that 😃"
Maybe so, but it is more that most people just don't care whatsoever. People suck.

I like how, after he finally freed himself, the giant yellow 11'8" sign is literally waggling back and forth right in front of his face.
I drive trucks for a living, they ALL say how high the truck is on the inside front window. People just do not pay attention.
From my experience, most people don't look that far up...
I'm quite sure many of those tangling with that bridge didn't even notice the sign telling them to turn.
Most people just go about like they're driving their 2003 Ford Focus. Height never occurs to most people because they never have to worry about it until they drive something like this....which is almost never.
Most of these are rental trucks. The people driving them probably never driven anything bigger than a minivan
Most people are like deer they don't look up that's why you use a deer stand.Except that bridge is a truck's natural predator!!
Passed my HGV a couple of years ago and my biggest fear is hitting a low bridge, I always check I've even pulled up and converted the height on my phone if it's in Meters and the wagon's is in feet. I dont get how people do this.
Even the train warned the truck 🤦🏻♂️
Have we ever seen a train actually go by when the bridge feasts? If so it has to be incredibly rare, I can't remember ever actually seeing it before.
@@Tukaro Yes we have. It's not the first time I've seen a train pass while a truck is being feasted upon.
@Tucsoncoyote 501 there is a bar in front of the bridge, so the truck hit that and got stuck, he didn't actually hit the bridge. (so the train going over had no effect) The bar protects the bridge so they don't have to inspect it every time like they would if the bridge got hit.
@Tucsoncoyote 501 They hit a metal beam which was made to protect the bridge, the bridge was not struck in this instance.
@Tucsoncoyote 501 you know even if that was happening, it doesn't matter how long the train is.
It always amuses how the "residents" of the town just keep going about in their daily routine.
"Oh well, Just another Idiot @ the Bridge, What else is New "?
Some of them look more like "hey, I'm not getting caught up in that, let's gtfo".
And to be honest, I can relate. I know a particular overpass where the speed limit is 70 kmh, but I never drive that fast there because I know there's a fairly sharp curve at the top with a nasty bump in it. Some BMW overtook me just before the base of the incline at maybe 80 kph, and when I reached the top, I just saw the driver climb out of his totalled wreck on the other side of the road. He looked ok from a distance and the oncoming traffic had (just) managed to stop in time, so I chuckled to mystelf and drove on.
Thinking back later I guess I should have left my phone number or so, but at the time I was like "nope, not my problem".
@@zJoriz when that kind of things happens is delicious. When you are the local and some idiot that doesn't know your street does something very stupid and gets their car damaged
I grew up in an area with two 11’ 8” bridges. The local rock station would play “Another One Bites the Dust” whenever a truck got eaten.
@@IJustWantToUseMyName that sounds like an epic radio. I love that song
A lot of the 4 wheelers are dumber than the truck drivers!
I love how after the dead stop created by ramming into an immovable object, the driver then tried accelerating forward again.
The 11’ 8” sign even put up a fight.
And then he stopped to read it. And read it again. And again. And again. Each time hoping it would say something different and he hadn't just smashed into a bridge.
@Tucsoncoyote 501
A smarter truck driver might have considered letting a little air out of the tyres.
@Tucsoncoyote 501 They don't hit the bridge, they hit a beam in front of the bridge.
It slapped the shit out of his mirror.
another one bites the truck
When renting a truck from Ryder in this area, surely every rental agreement starts with "Listen, let me tell you about this bridge...." at this point. Right? Apparently not....
13'6"
It is a rental truck. That is what the insurance is for....
They do tell people they also don't cover insurance if you try going under the bridge.
They do . They also point out that if/when they hit a bridge the insurance does NOT cover it.
The rental trucks have a notice of what the clearance is on the dashboard, too.
@@andrsmit Except the insuance does not cover hitting a bridge. (too many claims = not viable insurance rates) The folk that rent the trucks are warned THEY are personally responsible and have to pay for any damages to the truck caused by going under low clearances, be it an overpass, or drive-through at a fast "food" joint.
Attacking the 11’8” sign was a nice touch. That’s some quality driving right there... 😂

It simply amazes me that this happens, especially since rental trucks have their clearance info posted to see in the drivers mirror.
Probably the drivers are not, or just barely qualified to be driving the truck in the first place. I suspect a good amount of these are caused by distracted driving. They are on their phone, messing with GPS ect. I feel sorry for them because of the financial hit and loss of a job, but it is very entertaining in a schadenfreude kind of 😊way.

Honestly, adding a simple "YOU ARE" to the Overheight must turn sign might wake some of these derps up. Most people have the bad habit of assuming these messages are not directed at them.
"Overheight trucks must turn huh, well duh!" ~ Famous last words of some of these people I'm sure.
Exactly. Especially the people driving rental trucks. Until that day, the sign always *was* for someone else.
Can we all just appreciate how thunderous every impact sound is? Props to the guy who captures these. So satisfrying.

I love how the can opener refuses to let go easily. I never tire of hearing the slow, sad beeping of a truck mangled by the opener. I bet the train engineer was laughing so hard
Normally the train engineer would not be happy if he knew he had just gone over a bridge that has just been hit by something. If a train controller is aware that a truck had hit a bridge he would stop all trains using the bridge until it had been checked out. Presumably this bridge has been suitably reinforced to prevent damage to the bridge by over-height trucks.
Sadly I doubt they saw it
@@netking66 I do agree. And if you see carefully, they hit the yellow bar, which is not structural part of the bridge and placed there to avoid contacts with the bridge, or at least to reduce them by destroying things that can hit it before they can
I think there is actually an overhead beam just before the actual bridge so they hit the beam instead of the bridge. Presumly they had to install that because of how often it happens lol.
@@redsquirrelftw That's exactly correct. Vehicles hit the bridge so often that they installed a steel girder to damage the trucks and prevent the need to close the bridge for each bridge strike.
