I really need those Iceball makers... I have the small black ones i just got for my birthday. When I started the resin and polymer clay train it was because of a video i saw of a diy dandelion paperweight made out of a gumball machine toy thingie. I was turned on at that point. Well this year I finally made one and I love it. The last coat of resin was done in black to make the dandelion pop.... You are my inspiration with so many project. I thank you so much for being a great teacher on UA-cam. Blessings to you and your family.
Thank you so much! ❤ ❤ ❤ How did the black background turn out?
Even with the bubbles i think they turn out great. It looks more natural. Good job.
Thank you! I didn't mind the bubbles in this one either.
I love the dandelion paper weight. I wonder about other flowers. Thank you for your videos, they inspire me to do more crafts.
Thanks Stephanie!
I never thought to do this. Well done!
Thank you!
Wow! I always thought it would fall apart once it hit the resin but they turned out really cool.
That's is exactly what I thought Carol! That's why it has taken me so long to do this!
With my Hating dandelions, this is cool!!!
Neat idea! I guess you can do that with any flowers! So beautiful that would be! TFS!
I don't know how fresh flowers turn out, but maybe!
Really cool ! I love the " messed up " one! The perfect one is great too !
Thank you Angela!
She said "son of a gun" when that happened
very pretty even the messed up one is pretty, tfs
Thank you Lala!
So much fun. Pretty.
Thank you Cathy.
ooh imagine dandelions and glitter or other flowers, love it as always!
Thank you Tiffany!
A dandelion has to stand on its own. Adding glitter, color, or other flowers takes away from it.
This is SO cool! I think we just found a 4H project for next year's McHenry County Fair!
Perfect!
that's pretty.. with a light background or glitter. but is pretty.
Thanks Lynette.
Yay! Thanks Mona!
I love it!
Thank you! Glad you like it!
I love it, dandelions are my fav flowers...
Thank you Yvonne!
Brilliant stuff Mona. I love them both.
it turned out great, i have to try next season
Thank you!
i like how it turned out! I feel like the other one is just one that has been blown by the wind.
Thanks Jill!
Awesome! Can't wait to do mine!
Thanks Angelica! I hope you try it!
Thanks for showing that! I've always wanted to see how that works . Looks great!
You are welcome Mary! I was so happy it turned out!
Ohh how cool!!! i loved this one girl!! You always amaze me with your work my friend!
Thank you Kaye! I was pretty excited at how easy it turned out to be!
Oooooh! I just went dandelion picking at my sister's. I used clothespins to hold the stem. I brought a can of aerosol hair spray along to spritz them and later sprayed them with Krylon UV-resistant clear acrylic coating. They're waiting for me to do something with them, lol
What are you going to do with them? Are they pretty sturdy now that you sprayed them?
They are very sturdy, I can even pet them! I will eventually put them in resin.
Turned out great!
Thank you Theresa!
Totally cool! They both look great!
Thank you!
I'm surprised the dandelion didn't collapse going in to the resin. They are so fragile. Well done!
That's exactly what I expected to have happen!
Really great idea. I loved how it turned out.
Thank you Julie!
suggestion: the little "top off" of resin after you cut off the stem should be a solid dark color. Also if you lean the dandelion from side to side very slowly as you push it in it lessens the micro bubbles.
Thanks Marcy. I really wanted this one to be clear, so you could see all sides. Thanks for the bubble tip!
LOVE it, dang it our dandelions are gone and my molds haven't come in yet! Thanks for the inspiration!
love this very pretty
Thank you Sharon!
very beautiful and cute 😃😃😃
Thank you Jill!
I actually like the one were the seeds are all around and not in the ball. It's kinda like a wish in motion. I always wanted to try the dandelion but since I had a bad time with flowers looking transparent I didn't want to try. Thank you for showing me.
Thanks you for watching! Glad you liked it!
i have seen other peoples work on these but never on how its done so easy so cool i like i like (thought i would give you a total of 3 likes)
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. :)
How cute! 😍
Thank you Gillian!
I really like them both. I wanna try it with some fresh pansies. 😊
If you do, let me know how they turn out!
thatz so neat...love it
Thank you!
I love the one that came out right...but a suggestion would be to paint the bottom of the paperweight black so that you can actually see the white of the flower...or next time make the resin black when adding the final (embedding) layer
Thanks Jasmine!
I did put backing on it but it's REALLY SOFT, almost smoochy like and it's been almost a month now and still soft.
Hi Rose. If it is still soft, it probably either wasn't mixed with even portions of resin and hardener, or it wasn't mixed long enough. Humidity and being too cold can factor into it too, but likely something went wrong during the mixing process. Hope that helps.
Those are beautiful! I love them! =)
Even the one that got messed up is cool, makes it look like someone blew on it... ! =)
Thanks Phoebe!
that's pretty cool!!
Thank you Tara!
+CraftKlatch I've been enjoying all of your videos. always curious and interested in what you're going to do in your next video! Craft on, girlie! :-) hugs and
love it
Thank you Jeanna!
I think they're cool , have you thought about doing other flowers like roses geraniums anything like would look nice as a paperweight
Thanks Cathy. I'll think about it. I don't think fresh flowers do well, but I'm not sure.
those are awesome.
Thank you!
your welcome
very cool
Thanks Angie.
That's gorgeous, the "ruint" one isn't so ruint that's cool the way it looks like it was frozen mid blow. Don't know if it'll help but my cousins and I used to use our mom's aerosol hair spray to "fix" the dandelion together. You just have to hold it away from it or you'll ruin the dandelion.
what would happen if you lightly colored the resin? Do you think it'd make the white of the dandelion pop or would it mute it's color?
oh and as always Mona you do some of the prettiest & coolest crafts. I look forward to your videos every week!!!
As far as coloring it, I lightly color that bottom layer, and because it's clear, it reflects throughout the paperweight without changing the dandelion puff.
+Donda Willenburg I like that idea, Donda! I'm using it. Thx.
Thank you Jeanne! Fixing it with hairspray might be a good idea, but it might be a better idea not to knock it over! :) I think Donda is right that the bottom layer having a color would more likely make it pop.
Thanks Donda!
Anytime.
Love that! TFS
Thank you!
I found the music funny for some reason😂😂😂
Good! :)
really good =P I love it, both of them =D
Thank you!
wow its really easy and cute and thanx for doing it for us :)
Thank you Ezra. It was surprisingly easy!
That is really cute :) xx
Thank you Claire!
That's great. :) I have tried a lot of flowers and even a dead shiny green beetle I found. Dandelions are a bit hard to find here. We have an abundance right now of these beautiful light purple three and four tiered flowers growing here now just outside my fence and I have been really tempted... there are so many that just one won't be missed. :p - Heidi
I think you should give it a try Heidi!
CraftKlatch I know I should but they are so beautiful I hate to pick one. :P They are Lemon Beebalm and loved by bees and butterflies. Also edible with both flowers and leaves. Can also be used to make tea but apparently should be used carefully by anyone with a thyroid condition.
I just looked them up. They are pretty!!
CraftKlatch Definitely. I am so fortunate to have them growing wild around my yard. :D
That's interesting. I wondered how to do this without getting bubbles trapped. Perhaps it's just the luck of the pour. I wonder if coating them a bit by hand before inserting would help, or would they just sag.
I'm not sure. They are so delicate, I think coating them would take them apart, but I really didn't think they would just go in as perfectly as they did either.
That's pretty, but I thought that you were going to do the yellow variety, which would be striking.
I don't know how the live dandelion would do as compared to the dried out puffy one.
you should consider doing flower balls I have been trying to do some but i have no clue how
I'm not sure what that is.

Suggestions for how to minimize bubbles on top of the dandelion?
Nope. Maybe just put it in even slower?
Nice! Would you do a video with layered colored resin in those molds please?
As a paperweight, or a ball? I do have the glitter ball that I did that was similar.
Either is fine. I'll look for the glitter ball video.
Question: Don't you have to prep or dry the dandelion beforehand?
I wonder if the dandelions degrade over time. I know other things like insects do or so I have been told. I wanted to do a spider but heard they don't do well.
I don't know. We will have to wait and see.
Cool! But I have a question. Does the stems decay or rot and then ruin the resin? I have been looking for a technique to embed my oxalis in resin. Everything I've read says that the chlorophyll will leech out and will cause the resin to rot or discolor. Any advice would be very much appreciated. thanks!
The best method I've found, is using uniodiazed table salt to dry them with. Silica gel or sand distorts petals and you lose some color. Take a flat bottomed bowl, like a Glad bowl, add a 1/2 inch layer of salt. Place flowers face down and gently sprinkle more salt to completely cover flower, leaving the stem exposed. Wait for a couple of days for thin petals, longer for thick ones. Use a fork to gently scoop them out, holding the stem. If any salt is stuck on, I use a fan brush to lightly brush it away. Important~~~Do Not Add Lid To Bowl! Salt will clump and ruin your project. Leave it uncovered and be patient. :)
Thank you!! I was going to just try some experiments since I couldn't find a definitive answer. You save me time and resin! Thanks again!!
Your Welcome, I've had enough failures, but I'm happy to share my successes! One more thing, don't use sea salt.
+HKreations Thanks for these tips!
Great question Kristen! It looks like HKreations answered it better than I ever could!! :)
hi Mona omg I loved this so much I litterely went out the next morning and picked a dandilion and I've made it, is there a way I can send you a picture of mine? it's not as good as urs but it was great making it :) thank you for the inspiration 😍 x
Yay Laura! You can always post pictures of your projects on my Facebook page facebook.com/craftklatch1
+CraftKlatch awesome, have done :) Thanx hun x
so pretty :)
Thank you!
Love this paperweight idea/project that you did. Just have a question....on the whole dandelion (green), would there be a way to have none of the large bubbles that were visible on top of the paperweight once it had dried? Just wondering. Love your ideas.
Thanks Eva. You could try putting it in slower. The polyester resin might work better, but the fumes are pretty bad.
are you used dry or fresh flowers? thanks
Can you make a outside scene coaster with real grass
That's a fun idea. Be sure to add it to the most recent coaster video.
Hi Mona, I love both your dandelion weights. But I have the same question as Sydney. My resin comes out sticky on the bottom. What am I doing wrong? Again, thank you for sharing!! Myles my grandson wants to make a dandelion paperweight but I would want my question answered first. I wouldn't want to ruin another project. Thank you, Mimi
I've never done this, but I was wondering something? If it's sticky, couldn't you, trace around it, cut out and glue a piece of black, or any color of felt, to the bottom?
Maybe that would save your project until you find out why it's sticky. Just a suggestion.
Hi Mimi- Typically what goes wrong it either the resin and hardener were not measured properly, or it wasn't fully mixed. Humidity and cold can also be factors. If you continue to have trouble, I would suggest contacting the manufacturer www.eti-usa.com and they can help troubleshoot. They have a great customer service department.
This is soooo cool! Will the dandelion deteriorate in anyway, as in change colour?
Never mind answering LOL! I just found my answer further down the page. :-)
awesome thanksssssssssssss
Thank you!
Can you make a video the same way but using different flowers?
I'll keep it in mind.
Could you do a rose one??? I wont to see how id
T will look??
Maybe.
but I really like your little paper weight
Live rose or flowers would be pretty.
Hey! so I have queation... why does the bottom of my coaster never dry its always sticky I use resin?!?!
You need to mix the resin in completely equal parts it it's gonna dry sticky
Hi Sydney. Trash face henry is correct. Most commonly, I think people either don't measure even parts accurately, or they don't mix it well enough. Cold and humidity also can be factors. If you keep having trouble, contact the manufacturer's website www.eti-usa.com they have a great customer service department.
What is the resin mix? Where can I buy it in Toronto, Canada ?
You can go on the manufacturer's website and see where they sell it in Canada. www.eti-usa.com
I want to encase some shrunken human heads in there with their faces contorted into a scream!
Okay, so I'm just kidding of course...but in all seriousness, this does look like a LOT of fun. Would it work with flowers or leaves too?
🤣 Hi Rob - It would work with flowers and leaves. You might need to seal the flowers first.
@@CraftKlatch okay thanks !
You should make a paperweight out of a wasp nest.
You are about two days late it posting that idea! We just had one we got rid of!! I'll have to keep my eye out for more!
does it melt
It's like plastic. If it gets hot enough, it certainly would.
Threadbanger tried doing this...thought you would enjoy watching it! You def rocked it better!ua-cam.com/video/P7uXkxf5hKg/v-deo.html
Thanks! I'll check it out!
