The rule was changed around 1960 or 1961 to allow both feet to leave the ground and the modern serve followed. Servers from the 1950s and early 1960s stepped up and in to the contact point and hit over 100 mph with no problem. Gonzalez was a great server.

Roger's "soft" serve is still pretty fast. I notice Roger works on easy swings at the top of his reach to maximize his serve effectiveness.
