In my experience, the warmup is the most neglected part of the game at the recreational level. I need to add some elements from this video to my warmup routine. I think the video is missing ankle and knee rotations which I find important to get my joints ready.
Could be seen as common knowledge for those professionally involved in tennis but for me, as an amateur, those are great ideas for warming up. Also serves as a reminder to do it. Nikola, I admire what you do, man. You do make a big impact on tennis. Kids around the world learning their first strokes, adult amateurs (some eventually will parent a junior player). Cheers from Brazil.
Haha inclusion of Carla's bloopers is gold. You have science on your side with the stretching: don't as a warm-up but do as a cool-down. Also, I can see your starting speed on the sprint is resembling mine, .. From a fellow 197x-er
You convinced me with the Sampra's sweat flick haha. Thanks for the video Nik and glad to see Karla again (even if she was on the camera/extra) awesome content!
Thank you! This is exactly what I have been looking for! Could you also do a video for what kind of stretch exercise one should do after tennis? I feel that my elbow and wrists are tender or tight after tennis, but don't know how I should stretch them. Thank you!
That's a misconception. Most recreational sports players think that way - I used to too. But you do find your "second breath" and it's a rather mesmerizing experience.
Hi Nikola I love your videos man. They are very professional, great picture quality and very informative. I think tennis fans would love to see your videos on a sports channel like Eurosports before a match starting or during a weather break. Keep the videos coming please. Scuba Tom London
Good stuff, Nik. You're upping your game now. Last ones had extra swag, now you have bloopers like the movies. You're a star now ;) and not just in tennis. hehe. Awesome work, man.
I thought it was Anna filming this. 😔 She’s the only one who could dance backwards so gracefully and not suffer a major catastrophic injury. 😄 But Carla is pretty awesome too! 👍🏻😀
I am a hobby player. Every time before i start with tennis on the court i making some warm up like you showing. My partners always smiling and want to play without warm up. I think thats not good when you like to play tennis for a long time in your live. Thsnks for your "tips" and inspirations. Have a good time👍
Great content Nik. Warmups are neglected (or dismissed as unnecessary) by a huge percentage of club players. What's your take on jumping rope as part of a warmup?
Hey coach, can you tell us about tennis players at top level please We don’t see them warm up apart from some ball exchanging between opponents!? Do they do it inside, I mean outside the court on treadmill or something?
We also warm up properly in my bjj academy. Before we start teaching technicues or sparring with each others. Also at least till sweat comes to forehead (around 15 minutes). I have trained diffrent martial arts now over 15 years and continue training. Tennis is also fun and I play it usually once a week with my friends. Thanks for video and good tips! 🙂
My side always used to be sore after playing tennis. After you put out this video I added the warmup you show at 1:00 and my side hasn't hurt since! Thanks Nik!
Nice video, Nik! Before my training, I take 10 'to warm up. But why do you think stretching is not good? I always learn something new with you, thank you
Hey Nick, I have been having some shoulder issues, specifically near my rotator cuff (severe pain, I have iced it and used bands lightly.) I need a stretch recommendation to aid that area. Thanks!
In my perfect warm I do a 2k run pre match in about 10mins followed by some upper body exercises for shoulders and torso… find the 2k run really puts me in the zone!
Why do you think stretching is not a good warm-up? I'm a recreational player competing in team league tournaments in Austria (~4.0 ITN, which according to tennisPAL is between a 4.5 & 5.0 NTRP, or 6.0 & 8.5 UTR level). I warm up with stretches for every practice and match, for which I earn skeptical if not confused looks almost every time because most other players don't warm up at all. If I did any of your suggested exercises (except maybe the ones with the stretch-band), people would laugh at how serious I take myself.
@@IntuitiveTennis yes,I know ;-) - but u r still a great Coach. Wenn ich bald in die USA reise, dann komme ich auf ein Match vorbei. Viele Grüße aus Offenbach. Tobias.

Yes add those as well
This video of yours, like all others, is beautiful in its simplicity.
Perfectly said.
True
Many thanks for leaving a few outtakes in and also many thanks to the camerawoman - great job!

Great Video! Please make video for cooling down after match. Greeting from Bulgaria.
Tennis is not for lazy People , correct 😂😉❤️🎾 oh I see you have your camera🎥 rolling 🛼😂 very nice 👍🏻
If I could give this more than just 1 like, I would. Saving this as a reminder so I can quickly recall and practice this.
Thank you! This is exactly what I have been looking for! Could you also do a video for what kind of stretch exercise one should do after tennis? I feel that my elbow and wrists are tender or tight after tennis, but don't know how I should stretch them. Thank you!
Sure
Great content, Nick. But I am probably too tired to play tennis after this set of warm up. Ha Ha~

@@knotwilg3596 Hope so~ My physical fitness is quite poor. I really need that "second breath!"

Eurosport would be nice 🤩

Intuitive warm up... Thank you!
Video saved! Between my warmup now, my dates, and my 3rd set socks, good freaking luck to my future opponents!
🙌🙌

Alright! the bloopers came over :)))) thanks for the lesson tho!
0:40 Me when Coach Nik posts a new vid
Great video ... as many others you have created so far
Really need to start incorporating the leg swings as part of a pre-playing routine. Thanks for these pointers Coach Nik.
the best camcorder

Tank you!
Hey coach, can you tell us about tennis players at top level please
We don’t see them warm up apart from some ball exchanging between opponents!? Do they do it inside, I mean outside the court on treadmill or something?
Yes usually inside
Something I need to do more often that’s for sure!

More excellent content! Thanks for helping me take my coaching and own tennis to the next level!
danke das habe ich gebraucht!!!
This is one of the best and simple way for warming up
Love this routine! Thanks for sharing!
NICE! regards from brasil as a phisical therapist!!!
🔥🔥
Love your energy man💪👍👏😎
My side always used to be sore after playing tennis. After you put out this video I added the warmup you show at 1:00 and my side hasn't hurt since! Thanks Nik!
Great video Nick! Much needed routine!
Great tips. How heavy is the med ball in this video?
10 lbs
Much needed video! Thanks Nick. Idk about that Sampras sweat flick haha, but I'm definitely going to try the warm up exercises today
The way the audio disappears is disarming 😂
Copy right issues
How much time should be spared for warm up...15 min?
Expect the ball part, I did the other things today before training. It felt good. Thank u
thanks
Awesome video! Thank you.
Glad you liked it!
How many warm-ups did you have to do, to turn this video ? No wonder you were sweating ! :-D
Warming up is critical when playing in colder temperatures. 👍
Have seen Djokovic doing this.
Great one! ❤️
Can you clarify your comment on ‘the serve is not a throwing motion’…I’ve never heard anyone say this before is all
The best warm up video from internet! Thank you so much!
How long before the tennis match should the warm-up be done?
This is great. Wish I saw this before I suffered my Achilles injury T_T
its looks funny.... but its for reals ..... awesome my friend .
It’s good but with this type of warm up, will have no energy to complete the game 😄
I will try to implement these routines in my warm ups before practice. Thanks for the great content as always.
Nice video, Nik! Before my training, I take 10 'to warm up. But why do you think stretching is not good? I always learn something new with you, thank you
You can read up on it. Some people think it’s not good for muscles.
Hey Nick, I have been having some shoulder issues, specifically near my rotator cuff (severe pain, I have iced it and used bands lightly.) I need a stretch recommendation to aid that area. Thanks!
Got a stretch vid coming soon, but best to see dr
No camerawomen was hurt in the making of this video !

2K is a little too long. But if it works for you 🙌🙌
u gotta use ur thumb for the nasty sweat flick. cmon man.
Where can I find the resistance band you used in 3:25 ?
I’ll try to do this tomorrow before my match, but I'll afraid I'll lose due to exhaustion!
Do a segment you’ll be fine 😂

I got a major tournament in about 40 minutes. Thanks for this!
Good luck 💯
Hey Nick, random qs - which camera do you use to shoot all your videos?
A mix
Is there a warm up for this warm up?
🤣🤣
😂😂😂
Well that's unfortunate that there is no any sound after a certain point, due to copyright I reckon
Yes copyright issues on this one
LOVE THE BLOOPERS!!❤
Great video!
2:00 i tried those years ago and am still suffering from the strains i got...never again
How much tension do you recommend on the resistance bands?
perfect timing, I literally just came back from tennis practice
So cool if you have time for it.
Especially in the winter, we rent a court for a lot of money, we don’t want to waste time with warm up.
You can do all of this off court
Hi Nick. How did you solve the groin injury? I am going through it right now.
Mine was chronic bc I didn’t rest long enough and played on it 😩
U are not that fit ;-)
I’m getting back (back) in shape. It’s been a tough year
@@IntuitiveTennis yes,I know ;-) - but u r still a great Coach. Wenn ich bald in die USA reise, dann komme ich auf ein Match vorbei. Viele Grüße aus Offenbach. Tobias.
