- Karl Manke, a 77-year-old barber who has cut hair in town for 60 years, opened his shop up on Monday. This defies Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s executive order mandating salons, barbershops and other businesses from opening.
When the government bothers a 60-year barber trying to run a small shop, this country is not free.
The founding fathers would have been done shooting by now.
Too many great Americans died to protect our freedom to let one woman sign a paper and take it away. I support MR Manke’s actions and hope he inspires others to do the same. 🇺🇸

Corporations are open. Wendy's is serving hamburgers across the street from Karl's shop. He is following safety protocol. Can anyone give an intelligent reason why Wendy's is less of a risk selling burgers than Karl is cutting hair?

But no meaningful replies on why his business entails a greater risk than the next-door Tim Horton's. He touches people's heads? Oh, the horror! She took away his license to operate as licensed barber. In trying times you must work outside the box. Use your computer setup a private club collect donations schedule a time to award the donor with hair cut and trim for free by a friend of the club. Pay sale taxes, state taxes federal taxes on donations. Do not setup a 501c. Remove your signs, cover your windows, all enter one at a time via back door on a scheduled time. My wife and aunt in Detroit started a sewing club and somehow the sisters take turns doing each other's hair during the sewing sessions. We aren't starving anymore.

If you're going to protest something, please do it RIGHT. Wear the mask. Take temperature checks at the door. I mean, at this point, given you removed the mask, here's another strategy, if you really want to make headlines and new friends, you could offer to take temperatures PR. May bring in some interesting clients. Probably some from the Governor's office.

With all due respect sir, I have a board of barbering and cosmetology license for over 20 years and my first and foremost priority to each and every customer and all those come in contact with is for their safety. The board of 💈 and cosmetology in each and every state has a legal responsibility to make sure every licensed individual is providing safety and sanitary measures. You too sir took a political and religious stand in support of Trump. My question sir is have you considered that not everyone else feels the same way. If one person sits in that chair or you yourself carry it and are asymptomatic do you believe you have the right to take away others rights(all the other people who you or a customer comes in contact with at church, pharmacy, grocery store, etc.) as those individuals or yourself can then transmit it unknowingly...what about those individuals and their rights and you sir know sanitation and disinfection are one of the most critical things for you to carry the privilege of a license in this field. Your reasoning makes no sense to me as why do you or your customers feel they have the right to determine that everyone else must conform to you? Very hypocritical and truly is confusing to me as a professional! Don't I have the right to be safe from your adult decisions that can actually take the life of a loved one or my right to work under a license I too need to support my family? Your choices effect others and you had no right to disregard others especially considering your sign about religion. I too read the bible and I would never jeopardize my license, my customers, or any person that comes in contact or near whom Had No Choice! Time people started finding a way to provide services for all...if you haven't noticed not all people support TRUMP and we all deserve the safest working conditions possible along with respecting the strangers each and everyone of you come in contact with. We need humanity to return to this world and this my friend must make us all reflect on our choices. Your decision and reasoning is very one sided and you too became a political pawn my friend. Otherwise we could do ridiculous things like marry 50 people and claim being violent is free speech, etc. The courts have shown the constitution has some limits. And each state has police powers that they can use when there are exigent circumstances. It’s a hard pill to swallow but it’s the truth.

@@greggtaylor8666 Yeah it was some A-hole county judge up in Dallas that sent her to jail for 7 days after she refused to close her salon. The Governor and state Attorney General are going to exonerate her and get her released. Hair salons and barbershops will be reopening in Texas this coming Friday.
I think with a combination of facemasks (given all barbershops can provide them at a reasonable cost) and appointments only, I feel like barbershops can safely open back up soon in the rollout. No need for walk in haircuts with waiting areas given the circumstances. As few in the building at a time with people waiting in their cars if they're early.

Jericho Rising under the CARES Act self employed people DO get benefits. At least half the states weekly average PLUS the extra $600. His attorney should redirect their focus on receiving benefits while keeping the shop closed b/c reducing infections should be the #1 goal.

Given the minimal impact of Coronavirus in Shiawassee county, he should absolutely be allowed to open. The infection rate here is 197 people in 71,000 - 0.27%. Every consumer and business that chooses to open and assume the risks should be allowed to do so. FREEDOM is, and should be, the #1 goal of Americans. 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Equate this virus to a wartime enemy as trump has done. Would you be ok w/ the enemy gaining any ground, even just .27%? The enemy is not the governor. It’s the virus. Both are in the distant future. We have traded the false promise of security from the virus for a police state and lockdowns for healthy people. We have surveillance drones in NJ, snooping on citizens in their front AND back yards. Sheriffs browbeating a housewife who let her child play with another. Neighbors snitching on neighbors who dared to go to Church service. None of these things are acceptable trades for a virus that will come and go.
