Thank you lovely lady. This guy only started sewing last year, and I've made a few bags and reupholstered my boat already, and great fun! I fancy a go at the hand stitching now having watched your tutorial. I might practice this on a piece of cardboard first. Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Regards from Scotland David
Thank you, Diane, for this tutorial! A friend had mentioned the 2 needle method, which I had not heard of. I am about to sew some leather handles on a bag I made - and I have never done this - so this tutorial is very helpful. Thanks again! I am wondering what kind of fabric you are using in this tutorial?
Wonderful! The fabric I am using is a home dec acrylic tweed and has a coating on the back to make it firmer. I'm not sure of the brand as I purchased as a remnant (from Abakhan)
Thank you. Is the pattern the Harris Tweed bag or the free bag you have a tutorial on? Also, what kind of interfacing did you use? I bought a kit from Emmaline Bags that has Harris Tweed and the Miss Maggie handbag pattern. It has, I think Bosal foam, which has made it kind of stiff. Or maybe I'm just not used to using it. I'm not an experienced bag maker. Your bag looks very supple. Thanks again.
oops - I'm now watching this for the 3rd time and I see you mention that the tote is similar to the Harris Tweed bag. So disregard that question! Sorry.
It's the 2-piece bag, I used a heavy curtain lining (bump) to give it the wieght, I explain more in the free tutorial here: ua-cam.com/video/iii9STtX5bU/v-deo.htmlsi=_MJroG3T-7WCx61d Join my bag sewing Facebook Group for help and support with my patterns, to post your pics and general bag making chat: facebook.com/groups/spencerogg
I actually picked it up at a clearance store so there was no composition/weight description with it, but it seems to be a wool/polyester mix. It is quite a firm decor wieght fabric
Thank you, it’s those small tips that give projects finesse.
Glad it was helpful!

Again a nice tutorial
Looking forward for such more
Thank u
Thanks so much Gauri xx
Great demo Diane. I'm not sure my hands could deal with the waxed thread but the double polyester would.
If you use a thimble to help, and your fabric is quite open weave, the waxed thread is actually not bad Gwen
Thank you for this tutorial! 🇧🇷

P.S. Your bag is beautiful - love the green tweed. I'm in the US. I googled Abakhan and see that it's in the UK (I figured that!)
