As a beginner in sewing thank you so much for making something that looks complicated so simple and easy to follow. Needless to say everyone is getting a boxy bag for Christmas this year!
I sat at my sewing machine literally all day trying to figure out how to best make a flat bottom to my tote bag that I am making for a friend. Waking today I thought that it had to be an easier way. I forgot about the power of youtube in this regard. You saved me a lot of time with your easy to follow methods, thank you!!
The best tutorial I have seen...as I often design my own bags, it was lovely to been shown three different techniques that are available. Thank you so much !
perfect you answered my question that no body else ever answered or showed, excellent, now I know forever I always had the question where to measure for the boxed corners, knew how to do it but never knew where to measure from the outer fabric or the sewn seam, thank you now I know. perfect I am happy now.
I have been searching and searching for a tutorial that would explain this process and explain how big to determine the size of the box that is eventually removed. You FINALLY explained it to me! If you want X inches wide box, divide by 2 and use that measure! You know, every time I am looking for a tutorial, I end up using yours! I have learned my lesson and will START with you from now on! I TOTALLY understand you!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!
I basically haven't sewn for 25 years, since grade 8 home ec, although I'm confident I can make myself a tote bag. I have been through hours of confusing tutorials & this is the best one, thank you! So simple, well explained, succinct.
This was good. I knew how to make box corners, but you had some really good tips that I might not have thought of. And method 3 was a surprise! Love it! Thank you!
Thank you so so much Debbie Shore for such wonderful videos - I have learnt so much from them over the years. Sewing is my passion especially making make-up bags, tote bags, sports bags, back packs etc., I have now even held workshops to show other people how to make bags, putting in zips, making flat bottoms etc., thank you once again.
Wonderfully simple video with a lot of information. I am just beginning to sew bags and very much appreciate a video without a lot of complicated mumbo jumbo. Thank you.
Marvelous video! I'm an experienced sewer and I loved your style of presenting...very clear and well-filmed, plus it doesn't hurt thay your voice is easy to listen to 😊
Thank you for this video. Your third method was totally new to me and I like the way it looks when finished. That was a fun surprise at the unveiling of the corner. Great video! A nice alternative to the normal looking boxed end.
Thanks, this tutorial is excellent, clearly showing how to achieve great 'boxed' corners. May I ask two questions regarding the 3rd method specifically, please? Firstly, is there a name for this method? Secondly, can you achieve this same box style when lining the pouch/bag, please? Many thanks for any help :)
The same method can be used to box the lining, but you will have little pockets for things to get caught in. I would do method one or two for the lining. It is called envelope boxing method.
@@corinnehowland3349 Thanks Corinne. I've since learnt more regarding these corners and there are advantages to each of the 3 methods. I've made a number of un-lined shopping bags, with some polyester fabric I acquired, using French seams, making them so they fold up and take up little space and weigh hardly anything. The 3rd option, slightly different, easier method with the same effect, has been so easy to do. Hope your sewing is going well. Julie :)
What a Great Tutorial On Boxing Corners...One Of The Best On You Tube, You Are Very Detailed In Showing Us Step By Step...Thanks For Sharing Your Skills and Your Time With Us...Greatly Appreciated.
Really good ideas, I allways use the sugar corner method and find it fiddly and it takes time to get them both accurate and in unison. So I will in future try your first and second way of doing them. Thankyou!
Awesome example I really enjoy your demonstrations and how you show the difference ways to achieve this boxy bottom to the bags. I like them all but I have to say I prefer the first two and use them the most. Love your channel and thank you so much for youtube tutorials!
i completely agree with the comment below by boo lopez, this video is a godsend and by far the best demonstration and explanation out there!!! thank you for taking the time to do this video!!! it truly is brilliant!
This is the exact information I was looking for. Thank you for your clear and straightforward instruction. It is much appreciated. I am a new subscriber.
Thank you for this informative tutorial I loved the last tip in boxing out the corners. Definitely going to try it on the next bag I sew. I just finished sewing the make-up bag. It came out lovely.
Very well done I understand the first method because that's the one I usually do. In reviewing this video I find that I understand the second method really well now. My dilemma requires third way to box and I think it's going to be just perfect. For the application that I have. First time I actually do this I'm going to have this tutorial out in front of me and follow it really closely and I should be just fine. I appreciate your sharing this in such a clear uncomplicated way. In fact when I took my yoga teacher training it all seems so complicated. As I've been teaching for several years now I'm realizing that it's not PhD material! A yoga pose can migrate nicely into another pose if the teacher meaning me, also incorporates the breathwork. I appreciate clear concise Easy instructions thank you. You are a good teacher
Thank you for this video. I made a couple of shopping totes using method 3 and found that there is a stress point created at the tip of the triangle on the outside of the bag. I switched to method 2 which worked better for me. I am looking forward to trying the first method.
Thank you! Excellent video! I've made cosmetic bags with Method 1 & 2. Now I can't wait to try Method 3 with a different colored fabric for the bottom portion. So fun! :)

I always wondered how the third method was done. I love the look of the turned up corners on the outside of the bag. Thanks for sharing!

My thoughts exactly
@@nancejack56 Ugh! I have the same exact questions ...no answer! :(
