I just got one at Guitar Center. My $30 Guitar Center bucks made this $40. I'm anxious to try it with my Rusty Fuzz and Skysurfer. Thanks for this video.
I really dig this whole pedal line from TC Electronic, they released some really cool pedals for a great price. I bought this pedal just for fun but it became one of my favorite pedals. You can get smooth tremolo sounds too but obviously it's not smooth like a boss tremolo. It chops really well like you mentioned. You can dial old school tremolo sounds similar to a Magnatone. It also works great with a fuzz to get a gated sound.
Think you’ll find this is a upgraded version of the beringer trem which was a cheap copy of the boss tr2 . This trem though is good , no volume loss ,true by pass , well made . No need to mod the tr2 .
The Danelectro Tuna Melt Tremolo was a perfectly mellow trem. I loved how that sounded, but it could be tricky at louder volumes since it didn't have a volume knob. - steve
Ant Thomas Hotone Skyline optical trem. It has a hard/soft button for a choppy or smooth curve. I have one and really like it. Plus it's about as big as a matchbox.
I love your demos. I hate your demos. I love your demos, i hate your demos, i love... you asked for it so this is a choppy tremolo comment. Bipolar quantic cheers. Or not.
If your TR2 is fairly recent, there may be a trim pot inside to adjust the volume up a bit. There is also a mod for the older ones, but it might be easier at that point to just switch pedals.
I don't know if many people know that those TC Electronic pedals are Behringer pedals re branded. Behringer bought TC Electronics. That's why they are so inexpensive.
i think plenty of people know at this point. Tc was bought out by the company that owns Behringer, its not quite the same as behringer owning tc but its close. it means that tc has access to behringers production infrastructure. Most of these pedals ARE reworks of existing behringer circuits but with with a much better case. I imagine the time savings on R&D helps make the price lower too.
From Tore Mogensen of TC Electronic: "Just wanted to give a little more insight into the design of these pedals. Most of them are indeed based on some of the old Behringer pedals, but it is incorrect to say that it's a rebranding or re-housing. I gave the Behringer pedals a listen over a year ago, and truly though a lot of them sounded really good. From there the idea formed that with some work they could form the basis for a new cheaper product line... something I (and our dealers) have been wanted for years. So here is the skinny on what has been changed from the original pedals. As you can hopefully tell, this has in now way been a quick copy/paste job... quite the contrary! The TC team in Denmark made a whole new mechanic design. We designed new mainboards to support true bypass. All the pedals have changes to their original circuits (both component and signal flow) to change the tone, add or remove knobs or switches, remove unwanted noise, etc. In essence we've diligently gone over every single pedal and changed the things necessary to make them work and sound the way we wanted them to."
Behringer also was offering Digital stuff nearly exclusively. Outside of their "Vintage" range... which seems to have been a flash in the pan, they really don't fill this niche in the market. I've got the Phaser. It's *NOT* as well made as my Echobrain! But it sounds amazing for $24! There are comparisons with the Small Stone circulating & it truly holds it's own in my estimation! Wishing I could get my hands on a NOS "Vintage Time Machine" !!!
People who say truh-moelow instead of trem-ello deserve to be in the same place as people who say melk instead of milk. On an island, with limited resources.
"Tray mow low". It's from Latin. But him saying "truh MOW low" is a little off. Either way, in common English parlance, it's usually "treh muh low". When you meet Classical Musicians though, who have had the benefit of learning of the concept from Professors who understand the roots of the word... you'll hear "tray mow low".
It's from Latin. We actually pronounce it wrong in common English parlance. I say "treh muh low" too. But "tray moe low" is, in fact correct. "tray MOE low", however is a bit much :P
This pedal is terrible and I sent mine back. The LFO knob does absolutely nothing! This whole line of pedals are just re branded Behringer pedals housed in a steel case. T C Electronic have gone down hill since becoming a part of the Music Tribe group. Also, forget using a battery unless you want to fiddle with trying to remove and replace 4 small grub screws. Be advised that the 'wave' knob on the Behringer UT300 actually does something and it's $20 less.
One thing I don’t like about this pedal is how it turns on as your foot comes up off the button, rather than when you press down. Anyone else notice this?
The only question to ask, when choosing a Tremolo pedal... would it sound good in a Tarantino film? This choka would 👍
That should be the ultimate thing to look in a tremolo pedal 😀
Alright this is what i was looking for. Vintage trem tones at cheap price in cool design
Thank you so much for mentioning the unity volume.

Phil Roof how does it sound bro I’m wanting to go with that exact line up
@@joelek19, I love it. All the sounds are pretty solid.
Phil Roof nice thanks ,
I’m thinking
Strat into
Vox Wah - Magnus dist - tc boost - rusty fuzz - 3rd d chorus - tc delay - sky s reverb - boss looper - Clean Amp
This intro solo sounds really sweet, you have sold me the product Ryan, can't wait to try it!

Tre-moe-low, tra-mah-lo, tri-may-loe, who cares! I love this demonstration of an affordable low frequency oscilatrix
aTeólogo De Virtud you get me, let’s be friends.
60 Cycle Hum Aaaaaw... Friendship pedal engaged
You find some crazy stuff that makes all kinds of sounds.
Are there any tremelo pedals that give the sine wave in around this price range (as the Choka)?
This is one schmexy Airline you've got there my friend. I'm jealous af.
Excellent channel Ryan
At 2:38 he mentioned that this pedal does chopping well but not that smooth. Does anyone know what Tremolo pedal is the smoothest?
Not sure if it's the smoothest but a Fulltone Supa-Trem Jr is pretty smooth on the Sine Wave setting. Other optical trems could be similar.
The MXR
Love this pedal and your playing is awesome! Nice n surfy but modern.
Very useful video, well explained :)
Great demo - thanks.
Right arm. thx 👍
This video is really helpful! Thank you :)
you bet!
Noice demo. TC's are great budget pedals. The simpler the better.
In all honesty, a very good pedal demo.
Is it an advantage to have the input and output jack on the top as opposed to the sides?
It can save space on a crowded board
Does this tremolo have a sound level drop once you engage it into your sound chain?
6:20 he talks about that
Great demo, as always Ryan! Now, what guitar is that?
Nice vid man!!! Cool!! Thanks!!
It has an internal trimmer. What is it for?
no idea, try turning it to see what happens
Realizing a choppy tremolo kinda serves the purpose of a delay without the "wall of sound" kinda thing.
man i want this so bad but i already have the prophet and that thing takes up a lot of space
I don't know what it is, but trems always seem so...abrasive? I feel like I'm being buffeted by the chops.
TIMExBANDIT this is an especially choppy trem
TIMExBANDIT Tremolo always seems to fit better in a mix than it does on it's own for me.
Try a bias vary trem like a Swamp Thang or Bayou, much smoother effect.
It still doesn't get to the choppa fast enough for Arnie. But word is he's pretty happy now that he needs only twenty trems on his pedalboard.
Get a vibrato pedal.
Can anyone point me in the direction of a "mellow" trem. I don't like the super choppy ones and I can't seem to find a good one.
The Danelectro Tuna Melt Tremolo was a perfectly mellow trem. I loved how that sounded, but it could be tricky at louder volumes since it didn't have a volume knob. - steve

I recently tried the Choka. It has the extreme tremolo settings but can also be as mellow as you want it to be at lower settings.
I love your demos. I hate your demos. I love your demos, i hate your demos, i love... you asked for it so this is a choppy tremolo comment. Bipolar quantic cheers. Or not.
That’s cool intro
I am tempted to replace my Boss with this. The drop is volume on that pedal is really annoying! Great bid.

what is the green pedal ?

I wasn't knocking them. I have Behringer pedals and I like them. I just don't think they are the quality of the old TC Electronic pedals.

tra - mow - low
Tray may lay?
#bossshade
more than boss, there are quite a few trem pedals that drop volume.

id love to spend some time on an island, sounds relaxing
@@60CycleHumcast haha I'm about to pick this up, it's on sale at GC.
pity that this pedal cuts the bass
unless that is what you want
Is it really a truh-mow-low?

Caalamus never knew this! Thanks!
This pedal is not True Bypass. It change the tone of the guitar and attenuates the volume when the pedal is on. Peace of crap. Not recommended at all.
This is a classic problem with tremolo pedals that don’t have a pre-amp volume control - steve
Paired with a lot of gain, this sounds like it would be perfect for the so g polyamorous by breaking benjamin
You lost me at "tre-MOH-lo" XS

Lost me at (a) being unable to pronounce the effect's name correctly and (b) either not knowing or caring that his guitar is out of tune.
You should hear me say flanger. Also this is a very old video from the earliest days of this channel
Nice pedal, shit guitar. Where did you get it from, the set of Space 1999?
man i wish, that show was rad.
Choka stole my bass. Hard pass.
not impressed
Sorry I cant watch a pedal review by someone cant pronounce the effect correctly.. its Trem-Oh- Low. or Trem- Uh- Low.. Not Tra-mow-low.
Rusty Rutherford it’s actually pronounced “Yoo-r-a-vur-gin”
People in the internet hate it when someone else enjoys doing something just for fun.
🙄
The pipeline, in my opinion, sounds Better.
