I have the Tube Pilot and I had to Open it up remove the board and adjust the Trim Pot to lower the voltage going to the Tube to decrease how much gain I was getting. Yes it not only has a Bugera 12AX7C tube it has trim pot for adjusting the bias of the Tube. That's a preamp design feature you don't see in many pedals.
Maybe someone might have elaborated this but still, At 17:36 In the key of A, The Scale knob of the Pedal represents the Modes of a Major Scale. IO maj = Ionian (Major) DO = Dorian (Minor) PH = Phrygian (Minor) LY = Lydian (Major) MI = Mixo-Lydian (Major) AE min = Aeolian (Minor) The 7th mode is Lociran. This one's more of a "Diminished" in Nature. But It's not present in this pedal. Stay safe, Happy Practicing
I don't know why you aren't more popular. These videos are so helpful when looking for pedals to buy. I love this line of pedals and I hope they send you the others they've recently come out with.
I've had a Quintessence for a few weeks now, and it is one of my absolute favorites. Once you get a handle on how it all works together, it becomes a TON of fun! The thing most people seem to miss at first is the "#" toggle. So when you set the pedal to "A" in the major scale with a +3rd & +5th in this video, the toggle was still on "#" which means it was set to "A#." And in that mode, you'd have to play a major scale for it to sound right.
I've had a Tube Pilot for years. I've tried swapping it out with some distortion and drive pedals, but I keep putting it back. It's surprisingly versatile. With the drive down, it adds just a little warmth. With the drive up, it's a gritty distortion. High recommended.
I have eight of these pedals, and a few things you might have mentioned that I have found helpful: The sound quality is consistently good. These do not sound like inexpensive pedals. No extraneous noise. Very clean signals. The build quality is excellent. They're very solid and roadworthy. They're a bit bigger than the current standard pedal size, which adds some visibility and even allows foot dialing on stage if you're careful, but at the cost of room on your pedalboard. Some of the pedals have a soft-touch button which is great--no click noise. For example, the Rush boost pedal is soft-touch. It's the cleanest boost I've used. No coloration to the tone whatsoever, just a nice big boost with a ton of extra volume on tap. I leave it at the end of the chain and never gig without it. This is an amazing line in terms of quality of sound and build at an accessible price. Great value for the money, whether you're a pro or a beginner looking to build an affordable, quality pedal board. Besides the Rush boost, like Ryan, the Tube Pilot is my favorite. Just a great sounding overdrive pedal.
Great video! I’ve had my eye on the 3rd Dimension since they first announced it, as well as the Eyemaster, but they didn’t appear to send you that one. I’ll be watching out for your individual pedal demos!
All that high end in the tube driver is the the high end natural to a 12ax7, this would sound cool into a gain stage, into the fx loop of an amp to add some top end or after a dark fuzz
I had a hard time believing there was a real 12ax7 in that Tube Pilot with no venting or anything but I tore mine open and checked, sure enough, its in there! I thought about cutting some vent holes but apparently the lower voltage doesnt really require venting and surely TC knew what they were doing either way, I really love mine especially hammering the front end of a BD-2 with it!
The Honey Pot Fuzz is cool, I bought me already now, the Flanger and Tape Delay as well.. Also just ordered yesterday some of the other out of the line, it has now more... Chorus, Phaser, Analog Delay, Choka Tremolo, Vibrato.. exited
@@TemkaUwU I have also the Fangs Metal Distortion sounds for me more agressive.. maybe better even the Fuzz is nice... But my son is more the metaller..he came to see this effects cause he dont knew them and was quite impressed by the fangs but also the fuzz.. he got Amon Amarth and also Iron Maiden licks out of the Fangs with no problem... But i must say its maybe also the combination with my Two Notes Le Lead analog tube who makes that... That can also be..
Loved the Tube Pilot. On the Quintessence, the upper toggle switch determines if your are in the key of A or A#. I don't think it has anything to do with the mash switch. Having an idea about music theory will definitely help with this (especially if you need to know the difference between PH and AE... and you're a bit rusty in your Greek).
Ph stands for Phrygian, Ae for Aeolian, Do for Dorian etc. It's just the mods. If you choose the 5th, you won't see the "color" of the mods, because a 5th stays the same throughout each mod. It's like you played power chords. Pick the 3rd, and you'll notice it. In Phrygian, the 3rd is minor (b3), in Dorian it's major. But you definitely have to know just a few basics to work with this pedal 😉
Nice, but on the tube pilot you were on the bridge pickup the whole time - sounded good, but I would have liked to see it on the neck pickup for an example of less high end
The Nether Octave and Honey Pot stood out for me. They all sound great for the money. That last one though could be the best if you learn how to use it. I am sure you will give us a great video on it, Thanks!
Cow Town Customs Yeah I usually can’t stand the splatty kind of fuzz you get from the Fuzz Face or the Rusty Fuzz. But I’m digging the Big Muff Style fuzz.
Great demo! T.C. Electronics guitar effect pedals are great products because 1) They are cheap and 2) high quality. I have tosay these effect pedals hold up to anything that Boss effects pedals put out. I have the Boost, Distortion, Delay Prophet and Analog Delay, Afterglow, Blood Moon, Thunderestuck, They are all great!
7:10 damn that sound! if u have headphones on you can feel like a drum kick going on with the guitar(?! hahah. Love from Argentina! I think you and ur work is great.
The only pedal from this line that I really like is the Skysurfer. I like it because its £29. Edit: I bought the kid the whole line for Christmas last year. I think it was £400 for the lot. He loved it and as a teenager prone to spilling beer on things and 'lending' things to 'mates' it was good value. :)
"Big music theory nerd pedal". Yes lol. If only you switched the mode switch to Aeolian it would have been perfect! lol. Great demos, thank you! That Tube Pilot rips!
Totally constructive criticism, when you demo a fuzz, people are going to want to see how it reacts to the guitar volume knob. Not trying to be a dick, but that's one of the most important aspects of a fuzz to me
Bro, you were in the key of A# when you tried it I think. Dang I want a quintessence but it's too expensive for a fun pedal or something I'll use rarely :D
Nice demo. It would have been a little bit better had he used the front pick up from time to time with some of the pedals, especially the drive pedals.😎
there's always the Boss PN-2, if you're going for 90s, panning, shoegazy ambient stuff, in the boutique world now there's also the PanaTrem by Mr.Black
Sweet demo, playing and sweet ax! Theory smeory, I’m a music school grad and composer and theory doesn’t enter the mind as much as the use of the ears in my playing or compositions. Although it could be because it has become subconscious? Think melodically not theoretically
An octaver is great if you are jamming with a looper you can create a bass part in a flash. They should have put the names of the controls UNDER the knobs. Easier to see on your pedal board from standing.
I was honestly so interested in this line of pedals ever since I tried the blood moon phaser one time at a store, but honestly none of these pedals seem to do it for me! that’s alright, to each their own
Great first impressions right up until the harmoniser pedal, then you made sounds so disjointed it made the back of my eyeballs itch. Think I’m going to need to check out the honey pot and the tube pilot for myself, they sounded great.
Pedal adiction is very easy to be in,...That Tremolo reminds me of "Bang Bang" with Nancy Sinatra :),....anyways already bought a few TC´s cos you inspired me Man! :D thanks for very good rewiews
You need to be playing in the right key and mode for the harmonizer to “work” the way it’s intended to. Of course, you can just mess around with it but you won’t be hearing the way it’s supposed to sound.

Yeah the design with the mash seems to be pretty confusing for some people. On the flashback 2 it's a bit more clear.
I love the fact how easily they can be arranged in the pedalboard with the inputs/outputs and power all on top. Brilliant Idea
