This is honestly my dream pedal. When i found out that the Boss version goes for 200-300 dollars nowadays, i was so dissapoined, but then TC Electronic made an equally good and more affordable version, i'm a fan! Thanks for the review by the way 👍
even the Behringer copy of the boss pedal is pretty hard to find (and it’s not very durable like the boss or these TCE) and not nearly as cheap as it used to be
Actually the Boss Waza chorus pedal is a lot better. This one sounds flat, where the boss one is very dynamic and sound like it's coming from a tube amp. Very high quality sound, you get what you pay for.
@@perfectwhine742 That's stupide the circuit is THE SAME. Sorry for you if you feel like an idiot after spending a lot of money on the waza. That's the only drawback for me too is not knowing what buttons are on or off. I wonder if they sit higher or lower when pressed, because if so that'd be handy.
I use this guy matched with their skysurfer reverb. Gives me a thick and little bit drippy warbled almost DeMarco esque sound. Match that with some fuzz and delay and you thicken it up for some idles esque layering insanity
Tree Funk Jones he’s the great guitarist from Rush, he used a lot of chorus in the 70s and 80s, it’s what I associate the effect with, check out Cygnus hemispheres for that sound
I mean it might not be as good as the boss waza version but at a small fraction of the cost it does a good enough job to scratch that same itch imo. A rich yet mild chorus tone that just screams 80s.
I'm amused that it's called "3rd Dimension" and is Mono. If you're an apartment, headphones-bound player like me, you want that stereo spectrum before your mind's eye. Someday I'll pony for a Waza but I've got the little Behringer and it helps out.
Good simple pedal, Good review. Hard to screw this up. If it was 50.00 I would buy it if I needed a chorus. Works well with the overdrive/distortion as well. Nice mix. You are right 80s mix . The best I have heard is the Mutron phase shifter 11. I bought one when I was 16 years old for 160.00. I went on tour and it got lost. IF and that is a big IF you can find one now you are looking at 600.00. We are talking Steely Dan quality. My friend played on the Asis album & that is what he used. Now aday you need to buy a noise gate with many of the newer pedals. Many are made like shit in China. This is actually good, unless you are not telling us something. I do not think you would omit anything. Thanks. Great job.
How are you guys not connecting this??? Its similar to the design of the inspiration. Lol Dimension D Roland SDD 320 Used by journey on the piano...and bass... On any song you hear chorus. I guess this pedal sounds close to that. Boss had the dimension C pedal. Another attempt at the Roland SDD 320
Honestly I prefer the sound of this to the DC-2W. I mean I use a CE-2W nowadays but I love the sound of this pedal. The DC-2W has a more full sound but I kinda prefer this brighter almost flangerish sound.
Ah...I wasn't aware of that pedal. TC has said that a few of the pedals in this line aren't traced through Behringer, but offhand I don't recall which ones. - steve
i have, listeners of the podcast know that my new years resolution is to just work on being a better player. Last year my resolution was to be more educated about amp, and I totally did it. So i feel like my chances are pretty good.
I spend about an hour figuring out my parts before i record and Ive been discovering that if i make a loop with two parts on top of each other it forces me to be more focused in my noodling because its not as wide open.
Thanks good review! I have this, though it sounds fine with various combinations, I struggle with how to mix in my pedal board. It’s like when you turn it on, even I have other pedals, overdrive, reverb, delays, etc- the entire tone becomes very chorus sounding. So I took it out of the chain. Maybe that’s the disadvantage of not having a level or mix control.
For $50 it isn't bad, but if you can afford it, the boss DC-2w Dimension C Waza sound amazing. Dim-C is definitely is more dynamic and has that cool "angelic" sound you want from a Chorus pedal.
Daniel Estrellado I didnt keep the afterglow because I have other modern chorus pedals I like better. I’m keeping this because nothing else I have does the dimension c thing.
Awesome! What else did you keep, your favorites are? I'm loving the progress of your channel, been following from the beginning, you've come a long way!
Daniel Estrellado yeah it’s been a wild ride. I’ve kept a handful of them, there’s really only a small few I wouldn’t recommend. I think the line as a whole is very strong. The delays modulations and fuzzes are all strong options. The drives and distortions are very taste specific.
I have zero pedals. Could you recommend like 5 especific to start building a pedal rig. Id like to get dirty distortion sounds but enjoy cleans and even surf guitar.
if i was to rebuild my rig with 5 pedals with a good distortion and a surfy reverb included this is what i would do. 1. DOD 205 for light drives (the pelican noiseworks 50/50 is my custom version of that concept) you could also fill this spot with a tube screamer variant. 2. Walrus Audio Iron Horse V2 for distortion (its a variation on the ProCo RAT) 3. A versatile delay is nice to have around, EHX Canyon fits the bill but im a big fan of the TC flaskback 2 and walrus ARP-87 as well. 4. Fuzz, this is a personal decision and takes a lot of trying to find the fuzz you like, starting with the tc Rusty fuzz or honey pot wouldn't be a bad decision. They are variations on the classic fuzz face and big muff circuits. 5. Get a tremolo or modulation (chorus, phaser, flanger, etc.), maybe even fill this spot with some kind of multi FX pedal so you can explore effects your not familiar with. Starting out i think its smart to buy used so you can resell stuff you don't like and not loose very much money.
60 Cycle Hum thanks! I have no knowledge about pedals that you seem to speak a completely different language hahaha i will trust your recommendation. Next investment will be a tube amp.

60 Cycle Hum would the afterglow be able to get the “come as you are” tone I seen u play it in the original 8 pedal unboxing and I was set on getting this pedal instead of the afterglow
60 Cycle Hum thanks for your reply and time I appreciate you one more thing, I like bands like slowdive and ride a lot to do do U think the dimension one would fit better for that style also , which fuzz did u like more the rusty or the honey pot
There’s no point in getting the Boss waza DC if you don’t run a stereo rig. They sound exactly the same in mono. If you do run stereo then get that overpriced one though my dude, flex on em!
Yep, this is ridiculous, the whole point of the DC-2/DC-3/SDD 320 etc. was to use them in stereo for a super lush sound. I can't believe they didn't do this. It's the only thing stopping me buying one.
Ridiculous? The whole point? Most of the market for these pedals aren’t running a stereo rig. We both know that. Omitted feature that can easily be found in the Waza unit? There’s your option. That or the plastic Behringer. I’m running this into the front of a 1990’s Vox AC15. I’ll take this price point and leave the stereo in and outs for which I have absolutely no use.
I KNOW!!! the funny thing is that UA-cam puts a pink/purple haze over everything. I try to adjust my color adjusting further toward yellow/green but sometimes youtube just wants me to be pink. look at the color of the wall, its over the top!
Fugue State Fugue State the circuit in this pedal is almost certainly an exact copy of the old behringer CC300, which was their clone of the boss dc-2.
