Video should have been labeled why you should go to a bike shop if you are looking for a bike. Would have preferred a video actually providing three tips and explaining the why for those tips for big guys. You know, explain why you would choose a specific frame material and its price vs durability for big guys, wheel width - wider tires can support weight better as well as traction, etc. Things that would be nice to know before we go to a bike shop. Came here to learn something and got nothing out of it. Thanks.

Like Matt I was a 300lb HG/strongman and I now I'm dropping the weight using mountain biking.
At 6'1, 275 and love to ride downhill park I agree with what is said in this video and here are a few extra thoughts from heavier rider..
    1. My knees are not great. Riding standing up is hard so investing in a dropper post helped greatly when transitioning pedaling to downhill
    2. Upgrade components first. Powerful legs break things!
    3. Upgrade as you can afford but not to the point to where it only advantage is a lighter bike. At 275lbs what's a lb or 2?!
    4. Embrace the fun and forget about being competitive out the gate. ... more of a personal win for me.

Big boys need to know that they need to spend money on a solid quality wheel set. Hubs like DT Swiss 350’s with low 24 POE are stronger than the high points of engagement ones. Hand built with good spokes and rims wide enough to support your weight. That’s one of the most important things a Clyde needs to know when learning about bikes.

Hello, new subscriber here. I ask a question about bike size. I was given a Schwinn Sidewinder with 26" tires. I am 6 foot 1 210lbs. Obviously the bike does not fit me. Riding position is uncomfortable and maneuverability suffers. Is there any value in attempting to adjust the bike (even buying new/different parts) so as to make the bike fit me? Is this a task that has any chance of turning out well? If the answer is "no" I will just fix all issues with the bike (gear selection issues) and donate it (hate to donate something like a bike that does not work right, besides being unsafe the person that gets it, likely a child will be disappointed.) I am not going to be riding much on trails so a light weight frame is important to me. I ask for suggestions regarding a bike manufacture/model to consider priced under 500.00 used. Thanks.

While I ride a Specialized Turbo Vado eBike, might I suggest taking a look at SE Bikes? They are built robust and have a higher weight limit. Plus they have 36-40 hole spokes. I'd suggest a larger tire like a 27+. I was strongly considering the SE Bikes but decided on an eBike to assist with hills. I wish you success in finding a bike.

3:35 No grown-up should never consider a Wal-Mart bike for themselves. Sure go to WM for your 7 year olds bike that he'll outgrow in 3 years. The bike may even make it that long, but don't count on it.
I ghetto-financed my XC hardtail and it's still a really nice bike...all premium components that all told probably cost me over $2k (keep in mind I stopped upgrading 8 years ago). If I were buying a bike today and had say $3000 to spend and could get a alloy frame FS bike with all top-tier components or a carbon FS bike with mid-low tier kit...I'd definitely go for the alloy bike. Sure carbon is lighter and stronger, but not enough to justify the price imo. But then, if the sun rises and sets for you on the trail.... get whatever you want. You only live once and you can make more money.

Nice advertising for this bike shop but no real information about bikes.

Chro Mo steel frames are twice stronger than Alu, slightly heavier. , Aluminium tends to crack on welds after time, is soft, scratches are deep, and is hard to repair. Steel is for life, strong, easy to weld or even replace a tube if you have to. . Double Suspension bike is mainly for DownHill, nothing else. I say -Stay away from bikes with suspension, get bigger tires instead , unless you are riding downhill. Fat Bikes are awesome, I love my Surly

I disagree but that’s cool too. To each their own. Ton of variety of bikes.

Fat tires have too much rolling resistance. Total fad job. I laugh when I see them.
