I had the privilege of meeting Warren when our kids dated. He was the most gracious and humble persons I ever met. I only wish he could have shown me how to play some guitar solos. What a gift of a recording this is. I hope he gets a solo band together and tours soon. Maybe Steven Tyler could collaborate with him in the same vein as Gary Moore took Jack Bruce and Ginger Backer to make BBM sound like Cream on steroids. Think about it Warren 🌪
Damn, I have been playing guitar since 1986 and been a Ratt fan since they came out of the cellar. I had no clue he put this album out until today in 2023. Its wild and completely off the charts. Literally. I'm into the 2nd song while writing this post. So far its definitely different. And cool in its own way.
Just heard this for the first time. Great record! Showcases the true talent of a modest musician who survived the peak of the 80's rock scene. Solid production. Mr. DeMartini delivered an album with a signature sound and an honest vocal style that is very reminiscent of Joe Walsh. I was dumbfounded by it and immediately felt compelled to write this review. Hope to hear another solo album from the guitar legend. Personally, I think a blues record with the team of Zappa and DeMartini would be killer.
that's great you picked up on the Joe Walsh vocal sound. to me it's great rock 'n' roll voice, gritty and gravely and sounds like a mix of Walsh and Keith Richards vocals. the album is a wild departure from Ratt and it was a treasured discovery for me.
Stephen, Robbin, and Juan wrote most of the songs. Not throwing any shade at Warren at all he is my favorite guitarist. They all contributed their share to their work. It always showed
none of the guys in ratt were “creative geniuses”, if that were the case the song writing wouldnt have been formulaic and derivative of shit they already did. they were an alright band with some decent songs, if stephen wouldnt have been such a piss poor vocalist they probably would’ve killed it and done all sorts of cool shit
this is totally not what i expected, but i loved it a lot! as a fan of ratt, i thought this would be an album full of heavy guitar riffs and solos; but once i heard how calming and soothing these songs were, i instantly fell in love. this album is so mellow and relaxing. i could listen to this at a beach all day long and this would be heaven to my ears. ❤️
Damn, what a cool record! Loving the bluegrass, southern rock, and psychedelic influences here. I was in high school when this was released. Wish I would've heard this back then. Martini rocks!(not mention Dweezil!)
Warren can sing?!... wow. :) From being in a huge band and to a solo artist so to speak... surprised to hear him sing alone, I think he's better on back up vocals but he doesn't sound bad at all. :)
This sounds like it could have been released in the last ten years fitting in with Blackberry Smoke, Whisky Meyers, Marcus King Band, and stuff like that
Wow..definitly a huge departure from the Ratt stuff..not sure if i like it or hate it...it reminds me of the direction Jake E Lee went off on with Badlands. Not my thing, Ive great respect for Warren as a player
I believe Warren got pegged as a "hair band" guitarist. He has so much more to offer to those who really listen to this dudes ability. I really think Warren could pretty much do whatever he wants on the guitar. Great player.
of course he got pegged as a hair band guitarist, he’s pretty much only known for ratt and fell out of the limelight and really didnt do shit. His short stint in whitesnake didnt do shit for him and neither did a solo album that went nowhere. Doesnt help that ratts song writing only showcased a certain side of him too, had they not had a shit vocalist like stephen that band probably could’ve done all sorts of cool stuff
I'm a Japanese surfer, and Surf's Up is so cool that it gets me excited.

One of the best guitarists!!
You can say that again and severely underrated
@@rexgrainger5242 I'll say it again. Warren fucking rules.
he's one of my favorites and this album speaks volumes to me. I could listen to "I Know You" a million times and still want more.

Without a doubt! He blew away all of his contemporaries(i.e., George Lynch, Jake E Lee, etc...)

As a big DeMartini fan, i really like this record, i hear his style in the mellow side as i do for the hard stuff, 🎸😎 rockbrotherrock!
I always knew that Warren DeMartini was the creative genius behind Ratt. Health and long life for Warren. Cheers!

Really great!!! Feel with effortless technique is Warren's gift.

it's a great departure and even though it's not heavy it is.
First time hearing this, and it's definitely a far cry from his days in Ratt. It shows a very interesting side of his creativity.

I got this CD on ebay and fell in love with it. thanks for posting so others can discover its magic!
OMG! Love Warren..! I saw Ratt 3 times! Lay it Down Bro!
interesting and experimental, i really like this. very original.
Holy moly. I love this and completely ashamed I never picked this up through my ridiculously busy life, til now 💗 Fantastic
Eu também não sabia desse álbum incrível.
Grande Warren!
I love you, Warren! ❤🎼🎸

Che sorpresa nel 2022...scoprire questo disco da uno dei miei musicisti preferiti in assoluto. Grande Warren.. Italians do it better!!
Awesome album and guitarist🤙🤙😍😍
fantastic spanish alley!!!!
His solo phrases in ratt are so dramatic. Cool!
Warren can sing?!... wow. :) From being in a huge band and to a solo artist so to speak... surprised to hear him sing alone, I think he's better on back up vocals but he doesn't sound bad at all. :)
reminds me of a mix between Keith Richards and Joe Walsh.
Love you warren demartini ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ top notch guitar player and musician of the great 80's
I wouldn`t mind, having my next album, produced by Dweezil Zappa.............that could only turn out great !!

Warren definitely assembled a killer band for this
Wow.. this sounds like it could have come out of the 60s or 70s.. It's got a Zeppelin and even a bit of a country rock vibe
he kinda disappeared didnt he? i think he really needs to sing more it has a country rock vibe to it.
hope he does a 2018 remaster with a new cd in it right time for emo rock
Wow..definitly a huge departure from the Ratt stuff..not sure if i like it or hate it...it reminds me of the direction Jake E Lee went off on with Badlands. Not my thing, Ive great respect for Warren as a player
Mr DeMartini could you send this album to me on vinyl
All of this is very 70s sounding

@@knightfall93945 platinum albums. Numerous headlining arena tours. Think the Singer & band did just fine for themselves
@@kurth4255 yea when were those headlining tour, oh yea in the 80s
Not too bad of a singer...He sings a bit like Keef.
Now that takes me back.40 years..almost forgot about Keel! Making me feel old!
His playing is very Hendrixy sounding here
Tyree sneed
Huge Ratt fan but this effort was too mellow for me. Distortion set to 1
It's ok but not what I expected totally and it definitely shows his blues rock influence on his guitar playing. Not a fan of the vocals at all.
Not my thing adios
