- Don't drill into your beloved desk. It doesn't like that. Instead use velcro straps to secure your cables, it's cheap, easy and effective!

Velcro ties - amzn.to/2MCklNy
A lot of the videos i've seen for comuter desk cable management guides have been fairly generic in offering the Ikea Signum as the one stop shop for cable management. While the Signum definitely does hold it's own for cable management, not everyone has access to Ikea for all of their cable woes. So... I got a bit creative and used some velcro straps as a cable management solution.
I really want a no holes drilled, no power tools, no tools cable mangement guide. I wanted something that was easy to remove, install and flexible enough to allow me to remove and add peripherals on the fly. Which is exactly what the velcro allows me to do.
For a pc cable management guide, I wanted to show that even for 15 dollars (can be cheaper if you bulk buy off amazon), you can have an extremely tidy gaming setup, with minimal cables showing on your desk.
Send me some snaps of your before and after setup on twitter!

In hindsight this video has an obnoxiously long pre-roll. 1:30 for context and 2:10 for the start of the video.
finally someone makes a video that you dont need to drill holes or buy a signum
+Louis Vo I just felt sorry for Ed from Tech Source and Randomfrank p having to constantly repeat " And as for cable management we have an ikea signum." Hopefully velcro will start making some in roads on the room tour project scene lol
I always watch Ed and Frankp, and they always say buy a Ikea Signum. Personally I think that the Ikea Signum just look ugly as hell and it's not very clean.. Velcro with Cable clips and 3M Tape do the jobs and it's ten time cleaner than the signum.. hahaha
yeah the signum looks ugly af xD
I saw the hue review a while ago and though daaaamn that's some tidy cable management, cool seeing how it was achieved. I've done something similar now too, we have pet rabbits and so far I haven't lost any more cables!
I did add in some fixed fastenings to the desk for a modem and my Arlo camera hub... kinda cheating haha
You are amazing!! i couldn't find these velcro straps any where :/ but im going down to warehouse stationary tomorrow to get some cause im using cable ties atm and its so annoying tbh... Also! great video man, i subbed too.
Tutorial starts at 00:50
this guy ^ thank you.

With the cables coming from the IO of the PC, you could use cable sleeving to group them all together and make it look a bit tidier. Just a suggestion
Been following a lot of the bigger tech youtubers but just recently stumbled upon your channel. Phenomenal quality of the content you provide, I hope more subscribers find their way over to your channel too!
+Jamesv93 Hey James! Thanks a lot for the kind words, it's much appreciated :)
I liked ur t shirt
Holy crap wipe that case down
2:55 why do I always notice $ex things?
Great video! I dont mind drilling the desk though, you can get a 2200mm counter-top from bunnings for $90 :P
Hey. Nice to know you live in the same country as me. Makes it so much easier to find stuff and calculate prices of course.
ikr
yep
If the cable box actually was 140x140cm that would be pretty sizable indeed! ;)
Can you plz link your desk lights, they’re perfect
The top of table still a mess, I'd rather just drill a hole still.
I used a shoe box instead of the bluelounge to hide my power strip. Haha
Ryan Angelo Morta lol I’ve seen people tape a paper under there desk to keep their wires in
Ryan Angelo Morta fire hazard..
Holy Jesus! I love your setup Dude! Have you done a Setup Tour if not Please Do one! Ive just subscribed and Im looking for more Awesome Content
You can probably use good velcro strips to also mount your strip and such as well. I might try this method, after learning the desk im using cant really be drilled into (ikea honeycomb filled).
But these adhesives lose effectiveness after a period of time with a load (eg: power strip) especially in a warm environment.
For the keyboard cable I actually run it towards me and then down the table, so it looks wireless-other than near the table ends a few centimeters of cable where my big belly rests
my eyes would hurt seeing that cable
Nice video man! Your video work is flawless!
I make similar content to yours, if you're interested!
Anyone got a link to his wallpaper?
Where are the white pieces linked?
Does carry chunk of cables?
Great video mate. Found it very helpful. Off to grab some velcro this afternoon :)
+Josh Aw Yisss, well that just validated the reason I did this video. Send me a pic on twitter of your before and after setup if you can :D
Yeah mate. I;ll post it up on GP too. I'm just looking at a new case first. Have you any experience with the Phanteks line? I saw a P400 in PBtech this morning.
Awesome. I haven't actually built inside a Phanteks case before, Dmitri over at HC's said that the P400 would be his budget case pic for 2016 though so it's supposed to be very good lol I've personally spent more time with Corsair, NZXT and cooler master cases. I absolutely adore my Fractal R5.
OMG A NZ tech you tuber instantly subbed and have gone to warehouse stationary already !!
Can u please tell me where u got those velcro straps mate
There's a link in the description for ya :)
Another high-quality video! And a large gain of subs since I last looked, make sure you remember me when you become famous!
+Steven Roberts I shall remember you fondly and always ;p
Can you come help with my cable management?
how about the mouse and keyboard?
That's what i have trouble with.
Hey +Matt Kjer I would personally recommend to get some cable sleeving for the cables coming out of the back of you PC. Hope this helps!
Sleeves even better
I know this is a dead thread, but how would the adhesive and the lock hold up upside down? my desk is just one piece of wood without any support so i need something that attaches to the bottom
It would depend on how much weight there is on the velcro and how far you space them out. If you were mounting it on the bottom i'd use more velcro pads and have less distance between each pad.
okay cheers for that
What's that box under your headset what is that used for
love the video
Thank you! If you feel like it, sharing the video would make me love you too :)
