What a masterpiece... About 15 years ago I was driving with a friend and a song came on the radio. Neither of us had heard it before and I said it sounded like a Blind Melon song but that it wasn't because I knew all of their songs inside and out. While the song was still playing we stopped at a store so I could run in and grab smokes. When I came back out my friend told me that it WAS a Blind Melon song... from after Shannon died and he wasn't on it. Just not the same without him.
My heart broke when Shannon Hoon passed away. They were one of my favorite 90s bands and I just missed seeing them live 😢 what a beautiful soul. Beautiful, soulful music and highly underrated!!!
This song, well, Blind Melon altogether, will forever take me to a place NOTHING can even compare to. Shannon Hoon was brilliant and taken way too soon. Music just doesn't touch the soul quite like it used to. RIP Shannon
Saw these guys way back in the day with Shannon at the helm. Still one of my favorite shows. Saw them a few years ago too in NH. Met all the band members. All very personable. Spent tons of time talking to us, signing items. Wish more bands were like this with fans.
I remember listening to the radio years ago. Then the song “I wonder” came on. I was fkn blown away. I walked right down to the music store (yes they existed then) and bought the CD. It stayed in my six disk shuffle CD player for like two years!🤘🏼🤘🏼 Miss you so much Shannon..
I miss Shannon..... this album was outstanding. And this song.... wow... he’s looking in the mirror and talking to himself. So underrated as a band, as artist.... their lyrics were so deep. I’m just glad that the new generations are finding them and appreciating them. I was 18 when their 1st album hit...... to this day.... they are by far my favorite band.
This song has followed me since the album came out. From the acoustic riffs to Shannon and Jena's voices running around each other really is fantastic. While the lyrics have a darkness to them they are oddly comforting. I know the album has been out for a long time but I'd like to say thanks to all the members of Blind Melon.
How cool would that be! To not only sit down with a platinum artist but for them to be that cool to know she would enhance one of their songs. Personally one of my favorite Blind Melon songs. You really get to hear Shannon's emotions coming through in this song sad that he was gone shortly after this beautiful song was made! RIP Shannon you were a kindred spirit!
I love this song! I get sad sometimes thinking that for so many people the only Blind Melon song they know is the "bee girl" song. They made so much better music. RIP
I've talked to his mother Nel Hoon a few times cause I live near Lafayette, IN and she's invited me to the vigil they have every year. She's incredibly kind and generous
I lost the greatest love of my life last week. I truly thought I had found it. The happiness everyone searches for. She showed this song to me. I love it
One of the best songs to come out of the 90s ....I had a group of about 7 friends in 92-95 and Melon was all we listened to, then just like that they were gone....such an impact in such a short time it’s amazing to me now, I’m still listening
I went through that same thing almost. I was living on the streets from 92-94 (just out of a 3 year teenage lockup by my own parents, well 4 places, 3 years) with a bunch of other punks and my best friend and I listened to Blind Melon constantly. We absolutely loved them. Had a huge crush on Shannon Hoon. For his depth and raw spirit. I connected so deeply with the words of their music. Got a ration of shit for loving them so much from our other close friends but we knew they'd love every word and melody if they'd just stop being punker than thou and f-ing listen. We just shared our headphones with one walkman and some tapes and lose ourselves in the feels of it all. Wish I'd been in a situation where I could have seen them live, I loved them so much. But I caught the pregnancy bug in 94 and it was time to figure out how to do life in a way too raise my daughter differently than my parents did me. RIP Shannon Hoon. Your anniversary was 2 days ago and you've been on my mind and in my ears and my soul all week, just like the days I miss so much. I would have lived that life forever. Nobody gets that. I was homeless. But I had the most intense friendships I have ever had in my entire life. I hate how things, people, times change.
@@sixmercer2504 This sounds alot like what I went thru...I was homeless and strung out and living out of an 89 Suburban...all I listened to was Blind Melon and AIC...my friends were sick of hearing both bands because that's all I played...Ive went to Shannon's grave twice during this dark time...when I went to rehab...I snuck my cd player in and 1 CD with all my favorite songs burnt on them...his music has got me thru alot of darkness...RIP Shannon Hoon....
@@bobbywalton5029 Now AIC I did actually see. Me an several friends (literally the summer before I landed myself on the streets) we went to Clash of the Titans at Red Rocks. I was mainly only there to see Slayer, another of my absolute favorites). The alternative kind of pre-grunge stuff like Alice in Chains were bands I liked but didn't love. I had a crappy station wagon with an AM/(FM?) radio so I would steal D batteries like crazy to keep my boom box in the car to listen to Jane's Addiction and Nine Inch Nails and then of course the standard old punk stuff I loved like CRASS and Cock Sparrer and such but my friends then, before I met the people I was on the streets with, they didn't like the harshness of Minor Threat of Black Flag. It was easy to compromise because I was a huge heavy metal fan and also absolutely loved Jane's Addiction and the Violent Femmes and Skinny Puppy and NIN. So Yeah, I dodged the "radio" play music. They never would have played (and didn't any of the stuff I was listening to aside from the heavy metal. But thise times were behind us. The 80s metal had eased off the cliff into perma-grunge and enough was enough with the "I like it because you like it" when it was my car lol. But yeah, I don't know where you're from but living on the streets in Denver in the very early 90s was (well extremely dangerous when you had a shaved head and were mistaken for being a skinhead with the gangs as bad as they were) but it was really awesome. We had an amazing scene, several all ages almost all night coffee shops and we weren't kicked out of the parks for sleeping there (not too often, the sprinklers were much worse on us) and most of the time we'd find a place to stay because the scene was big and rent was cheap. My how things have changed. But none of us used drugs. We were against that stuff. I bailed on my friends when they started getting into that because we had such a rule against it I felt so betrayed. I still talk to them though. Those friendships are lifelong. If you were there, you were a friend.

You guys are so amazing. Shannon was a candle that shone so bright he burned out early. Thank God we got what we did from him. This collaboration with Jena is absolutely jaw dropping. Their vocals are truly a gift to the world. That shouldn't outshine the band one bit though. Each member is just phenomenal. blind melon for life. we cant stop and we wont stop. RIP Shannon
Absolutely beautiful! Jenna and Shannon together are magic. So pure, so wholesome. I miss you man😢
Beautiful! This is all the music should be! REAL
Briliant Band! They hit you on a personal level that can rock your foundation. True artist's to the core. RIP Shannon Hoon❤❤
Wooow! This song and the whole album is just a masterpiece! Is gonna be always in my top 5 albums ever!
same here! maybe my favorite album of all time!!
Me too!!!!!
Him lighting the joint on the candle is about the coolest shit I've ever seen.
Such a killer album
What a masterpiece... About 15 years ago I was driving with a friend and a song came on the radio. Neither of us had heard it before and I said it sounded like a Blind Melon song but that it wasn't because I knew all of their songs inside and out. While the song was still playing we stopped at a store so I could run in and grab smokes. When I came back out my friend told me that it WAS a Blind Melon song... from after Shannon died and he wasn't on it. Just not the same without him.
Rest In Peace Richard Shannon Hoon. You left way too soon. This just reminds all of us.♥️
When music is just perfect. No more bands and singers like blind melon these days.😥
My favorite acoustic riff right there
My heart broke when Shannon Hoon passed away.
Man the life without a smart phone was great
Jenna Kraus really did a great job on this track!
What a compliment to have Shannon Hoon think you’re worthy of singing on a track with him. Probably the most underrated singer ever.
the ease with which he hits those high notes is incredible
I remember listening to the radio years ago. Then the song “I wonder” came on. I was fkn blown away. I walked right down to the music store (yes they existed then) and bought the CD. It stayed in my six disk shuffle CD player for like two years!🤘🏼🤘🏼
Miss you so much Shannon..
One of my favorite songs of all times.
Touches the soul
Yessss!♥️♥️
And my ❤️
This song will always be one of my favorite ❤
This song.isone of a kind. It's sad they are.only.known for.the worst song in their xatalog
LOVE THIS SONG SOOOO MUCH❤
THIS SONG IS MORE THAN A MASTERPIECE IT IS A MORNING MEDITATION AND WILL CARRY THROUGH YOUR DAY
Haven't seen him smile in a little while ,tears me up
Such a beautiful song about such an ugly drug. 4 years clean and this song def helped get me there.
Blind melon this song right here has got me in my sister through some hard times😊 every time we hear brings back memories
Genius!!
Beautifully written!! My fav song as well ♥️
this song makes me weep every time. her voice makes this song.
Yeah, she definitely gives the song more depth.
I dont know that it makes it. Great song with And without.
My heart breaks that he's gone
This song puts me in a total different mindset. God bless indianas finest and the rest of this amazingly UNDERATED band
She helps, but shannon shines too
Uno dei migliori gruppi degli anni 90
I love this song! I get sad sometimes thinking that for so many people the only Blind Melon song they know is the "bee girl" song. They made so much better music. RIP
I've talked to his mother Nel Hoon a few times cause I live near Lafayette, IN and she's invited me to the vigil they have every year. She's incredibly kind and generous
Jena has done a lot of gigs since this. Excellent collaboration.
Another fn masterpiece.. my god what an Album this was
Such a great band and Shannon had such a beautiful voice 💚
Eu amo essa músicaaa
Blind Melon are the best love love love and her voice is absolutely lovely 💓🔥❤️Shanon was great loss RIP beautiful man
Still gives me a lump in throat and a tear in my eye listening to this.
I lost the greatest love of my life last week. I truly thought I had found it. The happiness everyone searches for. She showed this song to me. I love it
I tear up almost evertime I hear this.
@@sixmercer2504 You sound like you listen to alot of the same bands...I live in Louisville..KY...its bad here now...wasn't back in 2002 when I was in my dark place but like you...I learned alot from over 2 years experience of having to listen to nobody...it was an experience...I used to drive to far away places...Slayer is a band that I've been listening to since 1986 and still do...I just went to their farewell tour right before covid hit...it was an awesome experience...Tom Araya went to each side of the stage and looked at the crowd and saying his goodbyes and everyone was throwing 🤟 up...I did the devil horns (index finger off my forehead) and I swear on my daughter...Tom looked dead at me and smiled and bowed his head to me...that meant alot considering they have been one of my favorite bands since I was 13...when I went to see AIC in 2009 with the new singer...my hair was half way down my back...bangs and all...and I've seen old AIC videos and me and Layne resemble each other when my hair was long..it was a small venue but Jerry Cantrell kept looking at me and I know he kept thinking man he reminds me of Layne so much...I was yelling them songs to play and a few they did...my voice was gone the next day from screaming so much...good times...
There's levels to this stuff, and Blind Melon is literally one of the greatest bands to ever record a track. The musicianship exhibited by this band is very rarely seen in this world, and I don't say that lightly. I put Blind Melon up there with bands like Rush, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, any of the greatest of the greats, and Hoon's vocals are as legendary as they come.
Been listening to you guys since high school in the 90's. If I was born yesterday, I still wouldn't have enough days on earth to get my fill of Blind Melon.
Wow.. I soo miss this band.. been listening to Melon since the 90's,very much memories my early 20's hippy years.. now 50yrs old many many things gone by,many memories to remember.. they were the best years of my life..
"Time forever goes by ever soo quickly.. embrace the moment..for if you blink it'll already be over"
Miss you Shannon🥀
This song since its debut still gives me the feelings.
I’ve always loved this band. Thank you 😊 🙏 for the good music. “3 is the Magic Number” is one of my favs too, as well as “The Pusher” cover. 😉
just one of the coolest videos ever to me. haunting, but beautiful
Beautiful song & duet
On a Blind Melon binge for the past 4 months and counting...Shannon had one of the most unique and gorgeous voices ever and I like 90% of Blind Melon's songs. Had he lived they would've kept on producing such unique, beautiful and high quality music with Shannon. Such wasted talent gone way too soon 😢.
I’m always torn between this and St. Andrews falls as my favorite song from them both are for sure in my top 10 of all time
That’s funny that’s how it is for me.
The st. Andrew's fall performance from INTIMATE & INTERACTIVE is the best live set of all time. Song and show in general..truly breathtaking
Yeah its hard cuz saint andrews hall is one of the greatest songs ever recorded
same
Big stretch not much sleep,i got a couple of palm trees on each side of my cheeks yaaa.
No one is better then anyone else just some are missed more ..not everyone truly lives except the ones that do we miss even more lots of love my brother Shannon Hoon
This is the least wear out-able song ever! Every time I listen to it I get excited.
this is my favorite song by them. so much feeling in the words
Shannon Hoon was one of a kind.his harmony with Jena Kraus was harmonic and smooth.
This was their best song
One of my all time favorite bands. I love 💕 Blind Melon.

My favorite Blind Mellon song.
Fantastic song and an unbelievably great band. That damn heroin
There is no song like this. I guess it’s the feeling inside me.
Shannon and Jenna touching our collective souls
Soup was so ahead of it's time ....this band threw everything into it and the creativity and songs are amazing, the idiots in the music press that didn't get it I'm sure talk today about how great it is.
Galaxy was good too, but soup is a classic imo
Absolutely bro, this was and still is brilliant.
It's my favorite album of all time
@@michaelmcgilvry7123 in my top 20 for sure
@@joelenhanciosa3697 he's talking about the album Soup that Mouthful of Cavities and Galaxie/Hello, Goodbye are both on. Not the song Soup which is on the album Nico. The naming is always confusing
One of my favorites
how does this not have millions of views? crazy!
