I hold him in high regard and would recommend him to anyone like me (noob, 60 yr old guy whose only boat was 15 yrs ago 18' bayliner). I've always like to sail but at 80 don't want to be handling lines so I'm looking for an aft deck trawler. I want lots of solar, water maker and stabilized, so when I head to the horizon I'll just need fuel.

You are pretty close with your numbers. I should have about 120-130 when I am done with the generator. Probably 200 hours of my labor as well. She is certainly not perfect but neither am I!
My grand banks 36 sat covered up for 18 years there were 3 of us put in offers, the other 2 guys only wanted the Lehmans, I wanted to restore it and take it to Florida so I won, the owner didn't want it scrapped and my bid was 5 grand lower 😅😂
I’m 46 saving money shopping boats. If you sell I’d like to know. The wife and I really like Marine Trader 44 tri cabin sundeck. We would like to keep the price under 100k.

I'm not sure elections have any sway on prices. I went through 10 and figured it was up to me. So I saved and planned, then bought a boat and retired.

Do it sooner than later. I am 48 and I am so glad I did it when I did. We only LIVE once. So many wait and wait until its too late.
