I can listen to Eric Sorensen all day ... I'm a real fan. Every time he contributes to (or puts out) a video I learn an immense amount. Nice to see him working with G-W on this and other instructional videos. Keep up the fine work, Eric.
Grady's do handle the seas off NJ very well. The 33 Marlin's are typically what I've experienced. A 26 Regulator is as good or better IMO. The biggest issue with GW's is access to components like bilge pumps, fuel tank accessories, batteries, raw water pumps, etc... but that's true for these style of boats in general. I have a 27 May-craft which has a pilothouse towards the bow of the boat and it will beat you up compared to a GW. Great video on hull design, especially the deadrise explanation. I'm that guy that only asks about the stern deadrise and never stopped to consider the midship deadrise.
To Eric Sorensen: I just saw your presentation, filled with experience and knowledge. It was excellent, BUT, I also design and build very nice hulls for commercial fishing, recreation, and for comfort in rough seas. But I have another excellent feature or two which I don't see on any boats I observed/experienced which I know you will find very interesting? I commercially fished the North Atlantic 1997-1992, and was disappointed how slow todays hulls go to and from the fishbanks. They take more time going and returning then they spend fishing. I left fishing to become a P. Eng., but I never did leave my desire to produce a most efficient boat. I spent many years trying to get more speed, more comfort and least HP installed, and I did run alongside your Grady White off Vancouver, B. C. in my 25' hull, using a single Yamaha 200 . We both ran side-by-side in some chop, for several miles to the fishing grounds. We did not test who was fastest. They were my very good friends. I would like to share some items you did not cover in your great presentation. I learned some new info from your presentation also. May I ask if we could upgrade our knowledge so you may possibly consider use of what I have. I'm getting old now, and trying to make my design known to designers and builders. My 36' fishing boat with 270 Hp Gas 403 Olds Marine at 4600 revs, gave a 35 MPH speed in SW 15-20 MPH chop. It also went airborne off a 6-8' wave when I tried to outrun an increasing storm. It landed so smoothly, that there was very little impact. I am certain you, like me, love to run smoothly in rough stuff, using much less HP. Your article heading SEVEN SECRETS, caught my attention, since I also have quite impressive secrets you will ge surprised to know. Possible you know McKesson's presentation on High Speed Cargo Ship Trends 1996. He liked what I was doing, and what could possibly improve faster ship designs while reducing power consumption? I have a 5.86' model which was pull tested to 12-14 MPH , from my 36' hull mentioned above. You know well for my 14,500 lb hull with 270HP , what that could mean. Your Grady White hulls are very impressive and well known, and proven. My 36' hull runs with an attitude of about 2 degrees above waterline.
Between a Grady and a Pursuit? Im looking at both. Pursuits seems more luxurious, family oriented and less fishable (down side for me)……but what about hull design for high seas? Thoughts?
They pound and are wet. On the positive side they look better, slightly fancier in the way they look and put their interiors together with nicer stitching, clever doors to the head and cabin areas...just not a Grady ride.
One Quick question, that's been Puzzling me; GradyWhite designs consider stating the deadrise angle from keel to the inner Chine line or is it Keel to the outer chine line ?
I’m guessing because is displacing the pressure point when making contact with the water. A bigger surface area but still not sure myself just guessing lol
Axopar boat shows the new technologies development design,,,,, as many other new boat ,yacht on the market ,,,,, the hall design change a lot the last few tears ,,,,,
I had a run in a Bertral 32? while on my honeymoon in USA. I had already known about their hulls and always thought them to be a super design. But not quite as good as my 36' hull I am now wanting to update?
@@edwardranno7119 I would think so. There’s a lot of emphasis on being very attentive to detail. I for one always make sure my job is done to the best of my ability and I make sure to clean everything I’ve touched and always double and triple check my work.
I have been looking for boats in my retirement, since you work at Grady white I would really like to know the quality of the build as they are much more expensive than the other boats
Why hasn't someone invented giant airbags inside the cabin's to stop your pride and joy sinking to the bottom of the oceans. Then you can limp back to shore, knowing you're not polluting the oceans. Have a safe fun life and safe journey God bless ❤️
I'm on my second Grady White first was a 226 Sea Farer and now a F26 Tiger Cat. Love Grady Whites, BUT!! when you call them or e-mail them they have no clue what you want and where to direct your call!! Answer this Grady White!!
Best bill on the market and the awards and value speak for themselves. Freeman and grady are some of the few boats you can buy and sell at same price if not more than when u bought it because the hull… but keep living in fantasy land!
none of this actually talks about design, he is just saying "Pick my boat, because reasons..." Just a sales pitch. No theory, no evidence. Not a good video.
strakes make for a harder ride, the entry is superb, deadrise is steep at section two as are my designs, deadrise aft should be shallow not steep, some top game boats have mid and fwds sections like this is but only 10,12 aft, fore stability at rest and for ease of planing and fuel economy
I can listen to Mr.Sorenson for hours. His courses on piloting boats are excellent. Grady picked a great spokesman in Eric Sorenson!

I watched the video twice!! I love smart people that just know their business-
If I hit the Power Ball Lottery, I'm getting a Grady White and then do You Tube videos featuring these beautiful machines!
DID YOU BUY THE TICKET!!!
Lifting strakes also greatly increase structural integrity.. Really good video....I learned a lot...Thanks!!.
I spent a LOT of miles and hours in Grady Whites in the Gulf of Mexico off Naples Florida. They are everything he says they are.
I’ve been around boats, and studied hulls along time, I learned quite a bit! Great knowledge 👏😎⚓️🇦🇺🦘
Brilliant! Most comprehensive description ever produced.
Great video!!! Informative, nice rhythm and simple to understand. Good job 👍
Well,,, when you put it that way... you have the right guy explaining it! easy to see why this brand hull is so popular.
Good hull design, and design terminology summary!
Thank You for the Explanation, Quality information there.

Oh Gradys handle Haulover better 💪🏻 too I’ve noticed

Have you done small 25/35 foot commercial fishing hull boats for rough weather Al?
Wow, Thank you so much for that Great Vid it makes so much Sense , and now All my Expectation will be incorporated in my next hull ..
Great , informative video.
I am a big fan of Grady White's and have made it my "dream" boat.
Very informative. Well done.
I am surprised nothing was said about weight, Gradys tend to be heavier and I have to believe that weight helps in rough seas.
salam hadir dari Indonesia salam sehat selalu dan terimkasi informasinya sangat bagus sekali senior
What would be the best hull design for catamaran used in ropax and cruise at 20knots?
Great video. I love my GW! Best hull you can buy!
Eric & Sam Excellent ☝🏻
if i was to buy a boat i would buy it from that man.
okay. where was this video before I purchased my last boat
I have a 99’ Grady White 300 Marlin and want to know if the hull design is the same as a new Marlin.
Thanks
ThnkU, very good to know.
I'm sold.

Nice learn a lot in design of a boat or ship for speed too... ;-D

Hello, Anshul...the answer from the Grady-White engineering team is: Keel to inner chine.
Nice explanation
Beautiful boat, unfortunately it is a bit out of my budget, but man is it fun to look.
where is this boat show held? i like to see in person
Annually in Miami
this was filmed at the Miami International Boat Show in Feb. 2022
I wish this grady hull guy would walk around boat shows and review how good or bad hull designs are.
Does Grady use balsa wood core?
Wow That guy really know what he was talking about
Wow I’m sold. Now let me get back to you with 500k. In all seriousness, Grady’s are the shit.
Grady White Vs Scout Vs Sailfish. What one and why?
How does rounded keel make the ride softer? I get that it prevents bow steer but...
I’m guessing because is displacing the pressure point when making contact with the water. A bigger surface area but still not sure myself just guessing lol
good stuff. who's your major competitor your allude to? lol.
Boston whaler I’d bet
Grady White magic

Every design feature was born from the Bertram 31 🙏

What competitor is he talking about regarding the strakes?!? Very Curious
whaler chines are huge
Yeah I would have guessed Boston too
Regulators
Definitely whaler
Perfecto👍
"One of our major competitors"...Boston Whaler?
Lifting strakes also greatly increase structural integrity.
Coral Gables 🌴🇺🇸 GOOD information. Being a die hard Donzi Magnum Cigarette family I can attest to a WET hull ! Hehe 👌 🏄
Will someone Please make a Sorensen statue!?
Player Hydrofoil entered the game ...
I work at Grady white
Are they really that much better than other boats??

It’s too bad that Grady white boats are so expensive,You pay for what you get!!!
A lot of great information… fire your video editor for putting the music in the video it ruined a what could have been a great video
What's wetter than wetter? Wetter.
Old thinking. I know this guy is selling what he has but huge advances have been made since this hull was initially designed.
Just curious, what hull are you more stoked on RN?
Yeah, all those great new designs you see turning into submarines in the inlet videos on UA-cam.
There’s a reason they lead the market for multiple years.. if it’s not broke don’t fix it.
@@craigfrigo6077 That thinking would put the US and every company in it into bankruptcy. Innovate or die.
Good boat but costumer service is not helpfull
No. 1. should be: It's gotta be water-tight! Ok, stupid joke, sorry.
Grady white and great hull design don't go together.....js
