- Carrie and Doug's marriage is on the rocks...will they be able to salvage their relationship?

It's rare to see a male character in a tv show end a relationship for his valid reasons.
When hs job was on strike he found something to do, when she lost her job she didn't do anything. It's crazy how she did whatever and when he wanted to go vegas he was afraid too ask.

People forget… things got REALLY deep and passive aggressive between these two the last couple of seasons. I appreciated it, it showed how a married couple really grows resentment towards one another

9 seasons and the producers finally wrote an episode where Doug's character stood up for himself, showed some intellect, and finished like a man.
He finished like a person who finally demanded the love and respect that he deserved.
He kept an apartment secret from her. He's a hypocrite.
If only he could lose the weight like a real man
Man, the feeling of hurt and sadness that Doug is portraying just made me tear up. He loved her and never wanted it to end, but he knew she wouldn't change. When he said they were done he stood there waiting for a response from her wishing maybe it wouldn't end, but she walked away which proved his point, and you can see it shattered him to pieces 💔
You're very right. I was thinking the same thing. She didn't even try at the end to convince him that her love was true. She just accepted, cause she wanted that anyways. That's when a ma'am knows. Waiting for a response...but nothing.

Doug was right... if she could have done better she would have. Some women plan their lives a certain way and if they know xyz ain't happening there's always plan B. Doug was her plan B while still working on her A game. She even had the dope take care of Her father even tho he owned property, a house he kept a secret from them. She used him like a mule, and it showed in the series. She was always up Itty, and angry with Doug for being such a Blue Collar thinker...

The show got so deep at the end. I can’t watch it. This show is ridiculously well written. So many jokes, excellent plots and wonderful actors. Love this show.

He took her verbal abuse and twisting his nipples and she took his behavior as well. She was always basing their relationship on how others are going.
She couldn't say anything. She failed the leap of faith for him and knew it.
Saying they were over was just him trying to see if she’d finally take that leap of faith.. and she said nothing and walked away.

Well in the show she lied to him about an apartment she got in the city because he didn’t want to sell the house. He caught her and that’s what ended it. She broke his trust on a monumental level and he was done. He wasn’t trying to get her to do anything else at that point.
The very fact that she walked away showed that she wasn’t interested in trying. Smh. So in the moment she proved his point.

I think people place too much emphasis on romantic relationships in general. There's just too much effort and energy that goes into it. I found an amazing woman, and I didn't have to go looking for her. We stumbled into each other. Took a while, but it happened. True love is something you realize and stumble upon, not something you do that actively drives you to feel things like loneliness. It'll happen, but we have to be much more patient for it.
Also, it's surprisingly not difficult to know when someone feels the same way about you. Don't ever go for anyone that cares less ....OR.... more for you, than you do them. The imbalances lead to inadequacies, and the inadequacies lead to resentment. Just stay true to you and try not to worry so much about it. There is no such thing as "The One"!

Most actors that do comedy are good dramatic actors because in comedy they have to reach beyond their selves to create a comedy character. Look at Brian Cranston.
If you want to see an intense ending to comedy .Watch the final episode of "Blackadder Goes Forth " a British comedy set in ww1 during 1917 in France. It's a slow build up to an investable conclusion. It went on as one of the most watched episode in British T.V. comedy history.

She _does_ work things out, though, both of them do. Carrie doesn't walk away because she doesn't care or because she doesn't want to still be together with Doug.
She walks away because she knows that she's in the wrong and that Doug clearly didn't want to see her in that moment. He had been outside by the dumpsters for nearly the entire episode purposely to be away from Carrie.
That feeling she has a backup plan really does hurt. You really have to commit to a marriage for it to work, through good and bad times.
Reasons why I hated her character even more.
I didn't like either one of them, but Doug was always lying to get so he could get what he wanted more than Carrie.

i feel they were both in the wrong doug was hypocrite about carrie keeping apartment even though he had one himself doug gave it up carrie didn't it was also wrong when doug and carrie got back together in Church in God house the deal was carrie give up apartment doug get a new job doug did his part even though he was happy at his job and carrie didn't kept her deal she was very wrong have doug quit his job for her when she didn't do same
Through most of the episodes, it was one of those stories that made you wonder how it lasted as long as it did... she never ever seemed to be happy with anything he did.
She was a real debbie downer the whole show.
She wasn't happy. Worse she thought she had a right to be happy. But all those flash backs before they even met show she was incapable. Of course she blamed everyone else.

Wow, Kevin James really delivered in this scene! Doug had some scenes when things got serious throughout the series but nothing like this... this is not "sitcom upset", it is dark.

When I went through my divorce (I didn’t want it), the county I live in requires each person to go to classes. Almost always not together. One of the speakers made the comment you made and added, but they’re still alive and that makes it worse. With a real death, it’s final, you’ll never see that person again on this plane of existence.

One thing I never understood about Carrie is that she always acted like she and Doug had a terrible life. She had a two story house, a good job and a husband who loved her. Granted Doug did a lot of stupid things but I never for once doubted that he loved her and wanted her to be happy. But Carrie nother was ever enough, she complains about never having any money yet spends a fortune on clothes, when she saw others happy, and wanted everyone else to be miserable. She felt like she was OWED the luxurious life, the fancy clothes, the apartment in Manhattan. So ungrateful for what she had I would kill for a house like that! And look how fast she was willing to throw it away.

Having Carrie's life would be a dream come true! Doug was a wonderful husband! Some people search for a relationship like that their whole lives and never get it! He was trusting, loving, loyal, funny, honest, he didn't have all sorts of baggage, he never hurt her... What was there to complain about??! I always thought Doug deserved better than Carrie.

There’s no point shaming her, if she wasn’t happy, it would have only gotten worse for both of them down the line if they didn’t do this.

The sad part is that Carrie gave up waaay before Doug did. If she truly cared about him, she would've tried to change his mind and work it out. All throughout their marriage, Carrie always had a comeback for anything Doug said or did. This time she didn't.

I remember when this episode aired an their break up had finally had happened. When the show first started Carrie was very sweet but as time went on she got more mean and abusive and never really accepted Doug for who he was. The way I see it is Carries mother passing away young forced Carrie to be an adult much sooner than she needed to be and Doug was always sheltered by his parents and had an easy life therefore their life experiences just didn’t click. I believe most of Carrie’s anger also came from Arthur’s shortcomings as a father to her growing up and I believe the reason she wanted such a lavish lifestyle was to make her forget her youth
But Carrie being mean was so hot though! Whoa, I've said too much....

Carries can be mean but re-watching the show now i realize how awful Doug was! He constantly lied to her and did whatever he could to get out of doing things she wanted to do. He was incredibly sexist, childish and had no type of aspirations or goals. All of that would probably make me mean and resentful too lol.
@@megansarat Doug was hilarious but yeah I guess that’s sorta true lol but I Carrie didn’t really do much for herself either being just a secretary and she thought it was okay to spend half their income on expensive clothes for her job but whenever Doug made a purchase she would complain about wasting money and call him an idiot. Arthur was always wreaking some kind of havoc as well (love Arthur though) and I feel Carrie let it slide a lot which made Doug act out more as well. Just a good example of a couple who aren’t fit for each other at all

One of the greatest endings ever! Doug didn't need Carrie. In reality, she needed him, and she never appreciated that he was willing to make a sacrifice for her.

@@Artanis667 Still they wanted the Baby but for each for themselfes! On the way to get the baby (China) they met each other in the plane and they tried to make clear! And hours later, Doug falls to sleep and Carrie had a bit of time to think about the Situation... she woke up Doug to ask what they gonna do now, when they leave the plane! ... After 1 or 2 jokes, Carrie said some emotional things and at the end something like "I wanna have the baby together with YOU and i wanna forget everything what happend the last weeks!" .... Doug said "I love you Carrie!" and she said the same to him of course .... then they brought the baby home to Queens and after some minutes with Doug, Carrie and the Baby, Arthur came back from his short marriage with Veronica (Spence' mother) ... He said "It shouldnt be!" everyone laughed (except Doug and Carrie xD) and he moved in again :) that was the last scene :D
Basically, nothing changed (because Arthur is back again) but they have a baby now :)

I loved how the show ended. It goes on as if there's another episode coming up next and then it goes to the pilot again for another full circle of hilariousness. Same thing with how George Lopez ended up. You just feel like it'll never end.

I was in a 10 year relationship like this where the other never took a leap of faith and constantly made me feel like I was wrong. It took my a long time to leave, and I don’t regret it.
Hurt does not fix itself. You either start hurting the other person in return or hurt yourself more by being silent, neither of which is fair to you nor your partner.
He carried the relationship really loving her, and she just loved to fight. She loved always thinking she was top dog, thinking she was always right. But she walked away KNOWING he was actually REALLY right about her. She hated being wrong, she hated more so that he was right. She couldn't fight back. She couldn't win this one. He silenced her once and for all. He delivered alot of golden nuggets of truth.

Some Women (and Men) have relationships knowing if a bigger better deal (BBD) was available they would leave... this show shows this perfectly in the end. He married her, provided for her, took in her father and dealt with her condescending attitude. They couldn't even have children (birth control or another reason?) without some sort of drama coming out of it... so adoption was on the table for a while, but never followed through. This ending 💔 really showed her true intentions; which was to go along for the ride until someone or something better came along (that's plan B). Horrible person, horrible and dark situation to be in.

king of queens back to back episodes all seasons got me through what i thought was the end of a 12 year relationship. the laughs made me forget what i was going through this episode broke me mentally it brought it all back. thankfully me and the wife pulled through now married 18 years and have a son. thank you king of queens

I assumed the series continued to be a lighthearted and fun comedy.

They didn't. This was the very last episode. She found out her eggs had gone off so she wasn't having a baby then her entire pathetic world crashed in on her. Of course she blamed Doug. The bitch. In the last five minutes they adopted a baby from China and she magically fell pregnant. It was the most softcock final episode since Melrose place. Pathetic doesn't cover it

Leah does such a good job here. When Doug says “I guess I am” saying that they are over. You can tell her heart drops and breaks at the moment. This is the most serious Doug has been and she felt that.

Lets not forget the other crap Doug put up with on a daily basis, besides Carrie's crap. Like Arthur. My spouse's parents have lived with us for over 7 years when it was only supposed to be for less than a year and they are nightmares to live with. He lived with all of Carrie's crap and then also had to support her father and all the trouble he always caused and who's side did she always take? Arthur's. No one should have to live with their in-laws forever and support them. He didn't marry Arthur, he married Carrie. Helping family is one thing, but Arthur's problems were asking too much.

I love this show but the good thing about the ending was their talk on the plane when they got back together. Because as he said, she was always pulling away from him. And I think it’s the driving force by her always yelling. It wasn’t so much that she didn’t love him, they were just different people.

Always thought this was a weird plot choice, since there was literally an episode where Doug had his own secret apartment.
But in the end he always settled for her needs, than his. I think that’s why this episode seemed more grounded. (Serious)

Yeah but his apartment was like a guys hang spot and he didn’t not get rid of it. This is different. Even in this argument he says he sacrifices a lot for her and she had been kind of selfish. Years later when trying to start new and fresh for the future and she didn’t hold up her end.

Doug and Carrie may have truly loved each other, but that's different than actually being "in love" with a person. They weren't truly compatible. They were never on the same page mentally, emotionally, or personally... they wanted different things out of life.

This part of the episode broke my heart. Every marriage has it problem and I remember watching this when I was a teenager in high school. I loved this show and I loved doug and carrie together for some reason. To see this part of the episode blow me away.💯😥

I feel like the most profound serious moments come from sitcoms. They are a slice of life. Life is funny sometimes, but those serious moments make you evaluate where you stand and where you're going in life.
I really liked what Doug said about marriage. It's true. It's very hard to keep a marriage going I know. I've been married 32 years and it's not always been easy but (at this moment) I'm glad I did.
I miss this show, used to watch it literally all day. It was a tv show but it was based off real life emotions and situations

It's criminal how Kevin james was always looked past by The Academy. He likes to do the real people's characters, which doesn't leave much room for range. However, when he is allowed to, I think he proves himself to be a great actor.
I can relate. I heard something like this 9 years ago and she walked away. I've been in freefall ever since. If you don't care about relationship it's easy to say it's over and time to move on. When you invest your heart in something you've taken a leap of faith and often the other party didn't and they can walk away when things get difficult. All the guilt in the world later can ever atone for the heart you destroyed. We only get one life. Be damned sure you are ready and are taking that leap of faith. Otherwise, it's just a series fo one night stands that eventually get old.
Get past it, my dude. It stings when you're the one getting walked away from, but it eventually doesn't matter. You'd get tired of each other. I have friends who have been married a LONG TIME. And the best they can do is tolerate each other.

I mean, how the hell are you supposed to have a fun and fulfilling relationship if you're making an average salary? What's the point of it if you're just worried about money every second of every day. Oh I can't go there, oh I can't buy that. And I'm not even talking about raising a family. I mean that is an absolute pipe dream. If given a choice, I'd much rather struggle by myself than with somebody by my side. And maybe you can get to a point where you're making good money but that's going to take so much effort, time and sacrifice that you don't even have time for anybody else.
Don’t allow someone to permanently break your heart. Let it finally heal, sir. Your heart deserves another chance to feel and be free and love again! You owe it to yourself and your heart. It may take a lot of work but you should at least try. 🤎
