The scene where Dewey made a literal organ out of junk and played a classic piece on it is hands down one of the best and most iconic scenes in the entire show.
Makes you think if his Talent is Engineering & Music. If my kids were doing these things I'd be dead from a Aneurysm but proud to realise they could take care of themselves.......maybe not Reese.
I always felt bad for Dewey. Out of all the kids he was ignored by his parents the most. He was also the most moral. I loved how he stayed in the special needs class to help the other students and he was nice to his younger brother, Jamie and broke the cycle of violence.
He learned from the mistakes of Malcolm and Reese who prioritized bullying and fights over bonding. Like Francis, Dewey saw how toxic the Wilkersons are to each other. Unlike him, Dewey at least, can ignore that and pretend they don't exist. Francis took his anger out on the family, especially Lois.
He didn't break the cycle. There's a funny scene where Francis tells Dewey that he can break the cycle with Jamie, then Dewey says "How's that fair?", then Francis agrees with him lol
@REDEEMERWOLF and yet he is still a better brother than Malcolm and Reese combined. I think part of the reason is because Francis is actually a pretty good older brother to Dewey, and that is what truly broke the cycle.
"most moral" dude was buying new fish every day when the old ones died from neglect so he could trick his parents into getting what he wanted, tricks old lady into giving him money for overpriced candy bars by telling her that they're for a 13yo baby mama
He is often neglected by his parents. Its having his three brothers as role models with Malcolm the genius, Reese the bully and Francis the conman that makes him who he is, all three rolled into one.
Except, Dewey learned from the mistakes Malcolm and Reese made with him in their bullying him. He treated Jamie much better and developed a close bond with him. Malcolm's problem is his ego and self-absorbed nature. He uses his genius to cause others pain in their lives, which has caused him to lose friends and make everyone hate him. Reese's problem is his tendency to harm others for a good laugh and being an overall jerk about it. In a lot of ways, Malcolm and Reese are similar to each other. They're both reckless and lack empathy in their own way. Francis learned a lot of life lessons after leaving Marlin Academy and working under Lavernia in Alaska and Otto in New Mexico. Late season 3 and Season 4 gave him the best development and had him grow up from his delinquent ways.
It really shows how smart he is but in a whole different way. He's very people smart which let him get away with a lot of things and to get what he wants. People compare him to Malcolm but you can't really compare them together since they're geniuses in their own ways
I don't. The problem with Malcolm is his ego and his self-absorbed nature. There are also at times that he has shown to be just as reckless and lacking common sense as Reese unlike his earlier seasons' counterpart. Malcolm is only book smart. Francis is crafty and street smart, along with him being a natural leader. In addition to being a musical genius, Dewey is a rare combination of book and street smart. He has the brains and the common sense to go far in this world.

Their only real drawback was their anger and rage and recklessness. It’s a great example for all of us, we all hold so much intelligence but we commonly throw it away just to be reactive

Sometimes a tv show will linger a bit too long on a shot with a fake baby, and it's like, "Cut away, quick! That kid hasn't even twitched in 45 seconds!"

I never watched the show but based on these clips, Dewey seems like a psychology genius. I don’t know if that’s a term people actually use but let me explain. He is great at fooling people. He knows how to manipulate the mind and behavior of others to get what he wants. Sometimes to get an actual benefit, and sometimes just for the fun of it. Take the chocolate bars as an example. By simply having a rough idea of each target’s personality, he knew what their soft spots were and used them to his advantage. And what about the nanny scenes? He knew how the nanny perceived him, and again, used it to his advantage. I’ve read a lot of comments saying he’s a musical genius as well. So maybe both, again, I haven’t watched the show. Lois reminds me so much of my mom. My younger brother used to pick on me a lot when we were kids, and I wouldn’t ever fight back, and my mom knew this, so on the rare occasions I did do something to him, she would usually let it slide.
Especially since Dewey was the best candidate to be US President. Malcolm was too self-absorbed and egotistical with no people skills. He'd likely have lost, then faked his death and change his name Cody Banks.
Dewey was a genius who was destined to become one of the country's most powerful men in order to support Malcolm's successful presidency campaign, allowing him to continue to shape the future behind the scenes.
Thing is that out of Hal and Lois' sons, Dewey was the best candidate to be a US president. He has the brains, skills and compassion to do the job very well. Dewey can relate to the lower-income families because he came from one and knows how to deal with the issues. It helps that he has good people skills and can make smart decisions. Dewey would've been the US president everyone needed because he would've made the rich pay their dues, help the lower class out of the poverty line and make sound decisions in regards to foreign powers. Hal and Lois pooled their faith in the wrong kid. Malcolm's problem was his egotistical and self-absorbed nature. Even if he won the presidency, he would've still end up disappointing Hal and Lois by being a bad one because he bought his way there using Stevie's family money. Malcolm would've screwed his family over by supporting the rich just to prove his point that he doesn't care about them or anyone else except himself. Proving that even though he's a genius, Malcolm is reckless and lacks empathy similar to Reese.
@@ladyfire44 disagree malcolm is just a young child then Teen in the show whos need to be a child and then later hormones make him do daft things that most do growing up over all but most of us a lot worse. He still works very hard and is very caring and mature. Looked to episodes where Hal loses his dad and he initial recognises this amd tries to stop hal buying them all everything. Or not having sex with a drunk girl
Have you forgotten that most of the things Malcolm does was for his own benefit? He usually has to learn his lessons the hard way because of his ego. Hormones had nothing to do with it. During the earlier seasons, Malcolm used to be a normal kid who had friends. Once he was revealed to be a genius, it ruined him because Lois soon took control of his life and thus starting him on a road to his egotism. Malcolm has shown he is just as reckless and lacking empathy as Reese only in different ways. His downfall has always been his selfishness, arrogance, egotism and his need to overanalyze everything.
In the last episode, its stated by Luis and Hal that Dewey gets to just coast through life and everything always goes well, I think this is why they say it
Mad respect to him playing tea party to get a toy he wants. Then I completely lost it when his brothers threatened to burn his beloved bear thing…it was funnier when no words were spoken.
Closest to that tea party trick I ever came as a kid, was ask for the thing I wanted... then ask for something much more big ticket. I'd usually get the original request to shut me up about the bigger one. Tricks like that don't work for girls like they do for boys. Aside from that I could easily get my pick of *any* pair of girl shoes in my size by just asking for a boys' pair instead. Or I could always get the cute sleeveless summer top by asking for a boys' t-shirt. But generally, playing with or asking for boy toys wasn't a way to get the girl things I actually wanted... not that I ever wanted any, I was a bit of a tomboy anyway.
Except Francis, Reese, Dewey and Jamie got the last laugh against Lois in the final season. 1. Francis never told her about the employment he has at Amerysis Computer Enterprises and only enjoyed tormenting by telling her that he's still unemployed. 2. Reese also enjoyed tormenting Lois by not caring about his future and she eventually gave up on trying to motivate him to be more than the delinquent he is. Maybe he accepted that his life would be nothing more than a pile of garbage and will always be. However, like Craig, that doesn't mean Reese can't enjoy the heck out of it. This is why Hal made arrangements with Mr. Hodges to have him be a janitor at his former high school. 3. Dewey and Jamie hid their bad reports to the neighbors about them as Lois was freaking out over her pregnancy again. The only person that Lois was able to beat was Malcolm because she knew how spiteful he was to her the most and made no attempt to hide it. No one stood up for him mainly because of his behavior and it forced him to follow the path she wanted him on.
He is a good example in a way that you don't have to define yourself to people in a certain way, just make the most of the least you have and be yourself.
@@ebro8655 I grew up on this, wild boys, wildcratz, some wwe little bit of robot chicken later on and some spongebob and Ben ten mainly I loved watching but was also disgusted with the jackass and wild boys films, it was like a trip cause I only got to see it once a week same for Malcolm in the middle, episode cuts, and the show would continue within a week with week so long to wait so when it came on we al sat down to watch it
With the problem being that Malcolm's own ego and selfish nature that was holding him back from actually appreciating it. Dewey pointed out his own shortcomings because he expected an easy grade and his flunking the class showed otherwise that he needs to humble down.
Malcolm's intelligence was frequently on display. Starting with Season 1, do you not remember him freaking out his family with those extensive mathematical calculations? Or, when Mr. Herkabe first arrived, Malcolm used his intelligence to destroy Herkabe's system, by making the whole class go crazy? Those are just a couple of examples among many others, but the show liked to display Malcolm's vulnerability, creating moments of conflict and (hopeful) personal growth, especially when he became an older teenager.
I think both Malcolm and Dewey were geniuses, Malcolm was on the more logical side and him being a narcissistic asshole didn't help his case... Meanwhile Dewey was more on the creative side, however he's manipulative (manipulated his mom's friend to make himself a party, manipulated Hall's friend when they sang in a little event to make them fight each other and many more times) but keeps a low profile, so he isn't perfect either.
Dewey was more logical and street in the later seasons. In the early two seasons, Malcolm was both book and street. I didn't like how they made him an egotistical jerk in the later seasons
There were plans for Malcolm to mature in season 4's Day Care after his stint in Mrs. Munson's support group. He realized there was more to life than complaining and grows up into his own person. Malcolm was supposed to keep the maturity during the last three seasons, while Reese continues becoming more egotistical and Dewey starts experimenting with his genius.
He is a genius at messing with his family's head. The best one is when Dewy wishes Reece to dissappear. The scene starts with Dewy explaining everything he knows about the model ship he had just finished when all of the sudden Reece smashes it, setting Dewy to wish him to dissappear. I believe Dewy built that ship to get Reece to smash it so he can mess with his head through out the episode.
I feel like Dewey is more flexible. He's able to roll with what he gets. On the other hand, Malcolm is smart, but he's so stubborn and spiteful that he ends up shooting himself in the foot at every turn.
Malcolm seemed to need the Krelboynes. His peers gave him more of a purpose, as the latter half of the show mainly involved Malcolm trying to appear cool (much more often than his younger self). I think he found that purpose again at college, as Francis was also needed to find his right environment to do well (at The Grotto, even if it involved some luck on his part)
I think they were all highly intelligent, in their own ways. Malcolm had mostly book smarts. Dewey had book smarts, musical smarts, and he could manipulate anybody. Reese was a culinary prodigy. Francis had street smarts, social smarts, and a type a personality that benefitted him when he really put his mind to something. They all take after Hal, who was also incredibly intelligent, but he really presents as having ADHD, which I suspect Reese also had, and maybe Francis. Out of all of them, Dewey takes after Lois the most, with his manipulation and mind games. Francis got passive aggressiveness from her too.
@@christophergarza210 Oh! Well then; I thought you meant it was a scam. That's what it means out here, anyway; score one for language barriers, huh? :D
Dewey is a creative genius Malcolm is a mathematical genius Reese is a culinary genius Francis and Hal are savants where they can pick up skills incredibly easy Jamie is some type of genius but we never found out
There was also the time he laid out an entire scavenger hunt for his parents uskng only Hal's wallet and some willing strangers. Best part, it wasn't even for himself. He just wanted to make sure his parents gave his little brother more than 0 attention.
I still can't stop laughing at Lois letting Dewey torment Reese on the box. Was she trying to get Reese to learn a lesson about stupid plans? For Dewey to get back at him for all the bullying she wasn't able to stop? To get him to appreciate her housework more? As a punishment deserving of the atrocious acts with cats Reese has committed? Maybe a combination of all?
Just seemed like the kind of thing that wasn't really going to hurt and may actually help, is my guess. Reese, remember, has the empathy of a tree frog.
After all she's done to raise the four boys with so little resources, she's just too tired to really care about the ethics of the situation. You can see that she knows she should care, but she just doesn't have the emotional energy. That's why she is the way she is as a parent.
4:46 it just came to me after so many years of this that if Dewey didn't change Charlie the goldfish. It might have been Reese or Malcom that wanted a dog. So they would keep buying new goldfish when it died.
Malcolm was a science and math genius, Dewey was a musical and cunning genius...and Reese was a Culinary genius....I wonder what kind of genius were Jamie and Francis?
It might be too early to say, but Jamie is implied to be crafty like Dewey. He framed Reese for drawing on the walls and snuck into a neighbour's house to steal jewelry.
Francis was smart enough to recognize very early on how toxic the home environment was for raising a child. He deliberately got himself in as much trouble as he could because he wanted to be sent away.
one of my favorite aspects of this show is how much this show would never really try to invalidate their characters with other characters intelligence.

They force all their energy and money on the wrong kid.
Given the sacs and pumping action, I really think it's more accurately characterized as an organ. But point taken.
@@Joshua-ew6ks when u have kids meaning more then one..... in case u don't know that lol. u treat them equally!
@@sadrevolution It's literally a pipe organ made from asorted pipes.
Especially since Dewey was the best candidate to be US President. Malcolm was too self-absorbed and egotistical with no people skills. He'd likely have lost, then faked his death and change his name Cody Banks.
My favorite character. The secret genius. I wish we would have seen more of his career as a musician.
@@ladyfire44 Dewey also stayed in the special Ed class to help protect them and actually teach them since the teacher wasn’t.
10:34 Hal gets arrested for possession of meth
Lois's reaction to finding Reese in the crate was just...priceless.
I think every single mother can relate to it.
The fact that after finding out Reece is totally ok…. She’s just. ….alright…. An shrugs it off. 😂
Malcolm - conventional "genius"
Reese - selective genius
Dewey - Evil Genius
Francis?
Louis smarter then all of them
Except Francis, Reese, Dewey and Jamie got the last laugh against Lois in the final season.
When Dewey pulled a brick out of the bag he used on those kids, i was like "holy shit."
He is a good example in a way that you don't have to define yourself to people in a certain way, just make the most of the least you have and be yourself.
The brick in the backpack killed me 😂😂
Still one of the best shows ever! They dont make them like this anymore
Glad I grew up with stuff like this rather than stuff on tv atm
@@ebro8655 I grew up on this, wild boys, wildcratz, some wwe little bit of robot chicken later on and some spongebob and Ben ten mainly I loved watching but was also disgusted with the jackass and wild boys films, it was like a trip cause I only got to see it once a week same for Malcolm in the middle, episode cuts, and the show would continue within a week with week so long to wait so when it came on we al sat down to watch it
I watch this show religiously.. one of my only few joys. Best series ever
8:13 so Jamie's special skill is to transform into a baby doll every now and then
You notice it, right. I thought I'm the only one.
i noticed it too hahah
They can only have so much screen time with babies until they have to put them back or give them back to his or her parents
@@aggressivesewerpipe6290 well, yes, and I'm glad it is like that, but still looks funny
He is sure a resourceful master manipulator 👏🤣
Dewey was an artist. He could play piano and had to teach Malcolm music appreciation
With the problem being that Malcolm's own ego and selfish nature that was holding him back from actually appreciating it. Dewey pointed out his own shortcomings because he expected an easy grade and his flunking the class showed otherwise that he needs to humble down.
I admire Dewey, Dewey is nice, funny, cool, caring, and a lovely good caring human being.
Please! If there's a show that needs a reunion is this. The chemestry behind this ''fake'' family is the best thing that has ever come out of TV.
So true. It's really incredible.
Totally agree.. realist family ever. Best show ever
Erik Per Sullivan has already repeatedly been absent from cast reunions…
@Turd Ferguson Turd I miss you 😢 Tell Norm I said hi
Heard that Hal is working on it now
Dude! Dewey is a legend. I mean did you here the way the babysitter said come to bed. Like bro 😂😂😂
The show constantantly told us Malolm was a genius, but rarely gave us much of a glimpse. They actually showed us Deweys intelligence.
They showed everyone’s intelligence what are you talking about??
They also showed how egotistical and self-absorbed Malcolm is during the show's run.
@@ladyfire44 thats the whole family outside dewey really! massive ego battles
Malcolm was often shown as being the most intelligence in academics. His own narcissism, anxiety and neuroticism held him back.
There are no words that can describe how criminally intelligent Dewey is 🤣
I think both Malcolm and Dewey were geniuses, Malcolm was on the more logical side and him being a narcissistic asshole didn't help his case... Meanwhile Dewey was more on the creative side, however he's manipulative (manipulated his mom's friend to make himself a party, manipulated Hall's friend when they sang in a little event to make them fight each other and many more times) but keeps a low profile, so he isn't perfect either.
It was confirmed in the show that Dewey is also a genius like Malcolm.
Dewey was more logical and street in the later seasons. In the early two seasons, Malcolm was both book and street. I didn't like how they made him an egotistical jerk in the later seasons
@@ladyfire44 I think Malcolm’s transformation was kinda reasonable. Not healthy, but I can see why he developed the way he did.
10:52 the smiles from the 2 LEO made my day!
the show did such a bad job at showing Malcolm’s genius in the later seasons lmao dewey seemed far smarter
Dewey is smarter and the little one even more
I think they did a great job making the boys geniuses in different ways
I feel like Dewey is more flexible. He's able to roll with what he gets. On the other hand, Malcolm is smart, but he's so stubborn and spiteful that he ends up shooting himself in the foot at every turn.
Malcolm seemed to need the Krelboynes. His peers gave him more of a purpose, as the latter half of the show mainly involved Malcolm trying to appear cool (much more often than his younger self).
I think he found that purpose again at college, as Francis was also needed to find his right environment to do well (at The Grotto, even if it involved some luck on his part)
Malcolm lacks the emotional intelligence that Dewey has.
Dewey was always my favorite and the funniest 😂 😂😂
Reese and Malcolm take after Lois's aggressive behavior.
One of the best shows ever.
I have watched this show like 7 times and it’s still hilarious
The real genius of the show wasn't Malcolm. It was Dewey.
Yep, true
It's really both. Malcolm was just written as a fool more often in the later seasons
@@Joe_Parmesan reece was also a food genius
Most of Malcolm's recklessness and foolish behavior rubbed off on him by Reese.
they did one without Malcolm, and it was just called the middle , show wasn't nearly as good
Dewey was my favorite part of the show!
Dewey made a piano out of his stuff at home. If this were for real and on UA-cam in the old days, he'd be famous and a millionaire.
I love dewie so much. Malcolm in the middle was such a great show
They missed the scene where Dewey becomes a busker and gets hundreds of dollars doing a magic/contortion act in the city square.
The Great El Foldo. That was hilarious.
Lol, Manyee Dewy was straight hustling them tourist folk!😂
@@christophergarza210 Hustling? Nah. It was a damned good act. When that box fell away and he was gone, I was shocked.
@@vsgfilmgroup well I agree, it’s just from where I’m from hustling doesn’t have to mean scamming. He was getting it on his own the right way.
@@christophergarza210 Oh! Well then; I thought you meant it was a scam. That's what it means out here, anyway; score one for language barriers, huh? :D
Probably the best show that’s ever been on television it still comes on everyday and I watch it
I'm surprised that Dewey doesn't have his own company.
I've just realised they switched Jamie with a doll.
The scene where he closes the door slowly on his brothers. SAVAGE.
That whole segment with the babysitter is just freaking gold! Omg
Dewey is a creative genius
Malcolm is a mathematical genius
Reese is a culinary genius
Francis and Hal are savants where they can pick up skills incredibly easy
Jamie is some type of genius but we never found out
Jamie is a future Villain or something like that
Francis is more street smart and a natural leader. Thus in his future, he could get promoted for a managerial job as Amerisys and like the work.
6:18 wtf Dewey how are you playing a game boy with no game
There was also the time he laid out an entire scavenger hunt for his parents uskng only Hal's wallet and some willing strangers.
Best part, it wasn't even for himself.
He just wanted to make sure his parents gave his little brother more than 0 attention.
Francis: Legal Genius
Reese: Culinary Genius
Malcolm: Academic Genius
Dewey: Creative Genius
Jamie: Evil Genius
I like how all the children are geniuses in their own right.
What stood out to me is how much Dewey and Reese take after Hal while Malcom and Francis take after Lois.
2:19 The most legendary scream of all time.
only a genius could get a Gameboy running with no game inside it 6:11
I love how proud Hal looks when they find Dewey playing the junk organ
I still can't stop laughing at Lois letting Dewey torment Reese on the box. Was she trying to get Reese to learn a lesson about stupid plans? For Dewey to get back at him for all the bullying she wasn't able to stop? To get him to appreciate her housework more? As a punishment deserving of the atrocious acts with cats Reese has committed?
Maybe a combination of all?
Maybe she just wanted some peace for a while ...
@@nemeart yep. She's still in uniform, too. I think she saw a quiet afternoon and didn't want to mess with a good thing.
4:46 it just came to me after so many years of this that if Dewey didn't change Charlie the goldfish. It might have been Reese or Malcom that wanted a dog. So they would keep buying new goldfish when it died.
Definitely my favourite character... Subtle and manipulative but they all deserve it.
He's truly a product of his environment. Reese paid in but had no idea what kind of interest he'd be withdrawing once Dewey grew up a bit.
@Levacque sowed the wind sort of deal I suppose.
8:12 how have I never noticed it’s just a doll in a chair 😂
Malcolm was a science and math genius, Dewey was a musical and cunning genius...and Reese was a Culinary genius....I wonder what kind of genius were Jamie and Francis?
Francis was a social genius
And Hal was engineer genius
It might be too early to say, but Jamie is implied to be crafty like Dewey. He framed Reese for drawing on the walls and snuck into a neighbour's house to steal jewelry.
@@mustafasaifuddin7831 yeah he made some pretty look stuff
Francis was smart enough to recognize very early on how toxic the home environment was for raising a child. He deliberately got himself in as much trouble as he could because he wanted to be sent away.
Dewey definitely is my favorite! 😂
2:19 that scream is forever ingrained within me
Malcolm- academic genius
Reese- cooking genius
Dewey- artful genius
Hal- psychotic genius
Lois- Mrs. Genius
and then there's Francis...yep

one of my favorite aspects of this show is how much this show would never really try to invalidate their characters with other characters intelligence.
My favorite episode growing up was the baby sitter one 🤣🤣the way he closed the door
Okay I admit it, I’ve never watched Malcolm in the middle before. All these recent clips have inspired me it looks hilarious!
Bit annoying that it’s on the all4 page but you can’t watch them on all4 🤦♂️
It’s on Hulu if you have that
Reece screaming “count to 10!” Always gets me
This show is underrated. I mean everyone know it's genius, but it's more than genius, it's LIFE
8:50 Dewey you smart genius you basically predicted the future.
What are you talking about? Can you explain it please cuz I'm uncultured/dumb
This kid is going places. Probably federal prison at some point for scamming the wrong person out of their life savings. But places.
Con artist or politician
🤣🤣🤣
Probably US president given the skills he learned at a young age and is much better at dealing with people than Malcolm is.
The first main reason why I watch the show. Then I fell in love with the entire family ❤
Dewey was my favorite actor in this show everything he did was brilliant........ I have not seen this show in years would love to see again just dont have the time!!!!! 2 jobs.
Him and Reese were my favorites and made a great duo. Although they didn’t always get along, I feel like Dewey and Reese had the best love-hate relationship. Kind of like Kimmy and Stephanie from Full House
The baby sitter episode was just something else lol
