Such a great explanation - my medium golden doodle is an f1B and my breeder explained this to me very effectively also. My dog is jet black - like her mama the black poodle! But she is a joy every day - wonderful companion, and one of the most trainable dogs I have ever worked with! She learns everything after only one or two repetitions of the cues - what a treasure.

Great explanations, especially to understand the texture of the coats. I just taught Mendelian genetics tonight. I always use your lovely dogs to illustrate the crosses. It's far easier to relate to dogs than pea plants! I appreciate how informative your website is in explaining the generations. I've not seen any other breeder do this. I just found out today that you have these great videos! I hope to get an F1b for myself for my service dog. 🤗

We have our Lucca, an F1b (2014 Dorothy x Chili breeding), and he is the cutest, most wonderful dog. He does not shed, is healthy, has a great disposition and is very affection and intelligent. One of our neighbor's kids is allergic to all other dogs, except for Lucca. They have since become buddies. I can't say enough about how wonderful our experience was when adopting him. I exert great amounts of self control every time I see one of these videos - if I had lots of land, I would have many more dogs from Smeraglia.

I have a F1B Golden Doodle and his name is Disney. He’s so clingy and loving but he’s my rock 🖤🖤🖤 He’s about 60 pounds big hazel eyes and a black nose. He’s 1 year and 4 months I got him at 2 months truly my love and heart. THEY NEED TO BE GROOMED ONCE A MONTH. I think I’m going to get another one soon.

Maximus is 75% Golden Retriever and 25% Standard Poodle, (Father is a Golden Retriever and mother is a Golden Doodle). Maximus very much like the dogs you have. Is he still considered F1b even though he has 75/25 mix with dominant Golden Retriever?

My F1 goldendoodle is just about to turn 1 in a few days. We truly did NOT expect him to be so big. We thought he would be about 40lbs max, but he is about 60 and he is absolutely massive. But he is a big baby and definitely recommend f1 golden doodles if u have tons of extra time and money to groom.
random question: why are f1b goldendoodle all 75percent poodle and 25 percent retriever and not breed the F1 goldendoodle with a golden retriever to get 75 percent golden retriever and 25 percent poodle?

Depends the size of the mother, could possibly be a miniature, or small. (I doubt it will be a teacup)) if the mom is a medium or standard it can be anywhere from 40-?? Lbs. I’m no expert I’m just guessing off what I know. (I’m sorry I’m late))

That mix is called a "schnoodle". Google it. I've been going back and forth between getting a schnoodle and goldendoodle.
mssmtaylor1 Thanks I will look it up ... I love 💕 the giant poodle 🐩 and I love 💕 the giant schnauzer 🐕 and the reason why is because they’re hyper allergenic and I’m allergic to other dogs 🐶 ... 😢😢

Do you notice a temperament difference between the f1 and f1b?
There both super sweet! From my knowledge (and experience) f1b may be a bit more stubborn since they are more poodle. F1 is 50/50 golden and poodle so it is more of a surprise. I’d say there’s no big different and there both sweet! ((though f1b may get a bit stubborn there great))
I'd be interested in how much these wonderful dogs weigh? I'm trying to get an idea of what size I'd prefer, approximately. But have no idea what that'd translate to in terms of pounds.
Reena Khosla typically between miniature 15-30 medium 30-45 and standard which is what the type of golden doodles these are weigh anywhere from 45-100 pounds, they do breed them in different sizes

Ok! I'm assuming the large is considered oversized?
I’m not sure, but here are the sizes I found online:
Mini: 15-35 pounds, 13-17 inches tall at shoulder
Medium: 35-50 pounds, 17-20 inches tall at shoulder
Standard: 50-90 pounds, 20-26 inches tall at shoulder
I don’t know for the other sizes but at least for standard, they are usually higher up on the size, for example, they can be 50-90 pounds, but I believe 80 pounds is most common? I hope this helps! Also you might want to look into it more because I don’t know for sure if they are usually around 80 pounds, but that is what our breeder told us. It’s also a good idea to look at the parents because your puppy will be about their size.

All dogs shed out their puppy coat. But depending on the dog they may end up continously shed as they get older since your dog is a 50% mix.
F1 is more golden so she would be more likely to shed than an F1b

Prefer 100% poodle myself - because I find Standard Poodles to be the perfect, non-working, pet dog.
But these dogs are cute too!
I'd advise keeping the face hair a bit shorter. Nothing is as gross as a sloppy, dripping, hairy muzzle!.
What about for a service dog? I'm trying to choose between a poodle or a golden doodle but a standard poodle may not be big enough.. the doodles are sometimes bigger
@@lumiandripley9821 i would vote poodle. They dont weigh as much as a doodle and you wont have to guess too much how the coat will turn out where the mixes you cant guarantee the cost type you want so maintenance mat be more difficult
