Everyone says they love their shadow 2 but the stock 2 takes the cake all day everyday! Bull barrel, more aggressive grip all around, and that finish is just immaculate. My stock 2 is one gun I will NEVER sell. I’m just in awe in how beautiful it is everytime I see it even to this day years later.
The nice thing about the Tanfoglio not taking CZ mags is that you can change calibers from 9mm, .40, .38 Super, 10mm, or .45 by just changing barrels, slides, and magazines. For countries that aren't as free, they technically have multiple calibers with only one gun.
Up Next...... The Laugo Alien?!?!?!?! Would also love to see a "vs" video of CZ 75 clones, i.e. Tristar t-120, Tanfoglio Witness, IWI Jericho 941F, etc. How do they stack against the original and each other...
I agree completely with your request for comparison of all the CZ Clones. Clone Wars. Definitely looking forward to the Alien review. Although it is a very expensive competition priced gun, it is very reasonable when you compare it to the price of some of the 1911's out there especially considering everything you get. If the outlawing gives the alien gun a positive review I would definitely start saving my pennies and put it in my wishlist.
I got a tangfolio, and it is the most solid guy I've ever held, and I own numerous firearms and pistols. It is sturdy, every piece fits into each other like a glove, it fires smoothly, has never misfired, and is incredibly accurate. I'm surprised by the lukewarm reviews on YT, that wasn't my experience at all
The 10 mm is definitely easier to find in the witness P model. And a heck of a lot cheaper. The Palmer model (P) for competition probably not but for everything else it's just finding a heck of a lot more affordable.
This is a really informative video. Exact barrel length to minimize recoil in particular. Also, your wife does an amazing job filming. It is always steady and easy to watch.
""A competition gun makes a pretty damn good home defense gun, regardless of what people say." When you think about it, "home defense" is a "competition." In "home defense," you train, train, train, and hope you never have to "compete." As always, great review of the gun.
Despite the presence of the rail (thats there to make the gun point heavy and reduce muzzle flip, that's why the Tanfoglio Stock I and Stock III have it, while in the Stock II the same service is done by the bull barrel) the Shadow line is a pretty dangerous home defense gun since, to make the trigger crispier, they don't have the firing pin block, so a pistol drop in condition two is likely to result in an accidental discharge.
I've always liked those, ever since I subscribed to your UA-cam Channel and started getting into CZ Shadow's lol. To me it's the "affordable" version of the Shadow's. This is a pretty nice pistol
They're more or less affordable in both cases. I've run Tanfo's for USPSA prod for about 3-4 years, the cost of a Tanfo isn't off the shelf its all the tuning needed to make them fast. That said, the list of things I'd trade my tuned Stock 2 for is very, very short. The bull barrel on the Stock 2 separates it from the Shadow's by a good margin.
Nothing like a 100+ degree day next to a corn field unless your in the cornfield. Played with Tanfoglio's about 35 years ago when you couldn't get CZ's about the only change is the price and the fit and finish.
I've got the Stock 3 in 38 Super and the Hunter in 10mm, all I can say about them is that if you have never shot one, you need to. The Stock 3 has the Light Rail and Hennings sells more custom parts for these babies than you can shake a stick at...lol
Henning has AWESOME customer service too. My Witness came with one grip screw hole drilled poorly to the point my grips flapped and eventually sheared the screw off. Not only did Henning offer to drill the screw out for me but they replaced and upgraded my grips since they got scratched fighting with that screw
Glad you finally reviewed the Stock 2 and pretty much have the same experience, though mine had no issues with the sights; very accurate. One of the first thing I did was replace the grips with LOK grips and just bought an Eric Graufell trigger system upgrade and also replacing the sights w/ fiber optic and hopefully be on par with my custom Shadow 2.
I bought a EAA witness in 2018 at a pawn shop for $219... not sure why they had such an odd price, but I snatched it up without hesitation. Once home, I did a serial number search and it was sold in 2002 as a Witness Match. I have also owned a CZ 75b for almost 13 years and the Witness is glaringly better in all respects. Also, I have used my CZ mags in the witness for, what must be, at least 5000 rounds without issue. It is possible that a change was made after 2002, but all my mags work in both guns.
I love my Witness, all steel, full size, standard model. It was my first pistol that I purchased over 20 years ago. The only updates Id like on it are night sights and an ambi safety.
I have the same in wonder finish, chambered in 45acp with Loc grips, really this gun looks so good to this day and it looks brand new. The finish is really solid....
I bought one about 5-6 years ago. I replaced front sight with a fiber optic one. Put on an Extreme magwell with matching grips. Changed out the firing pin and a few springs and did a polishing job on the enternals. Now it's fast and accurate. Makes a great range pistol. One day I would love to have a red-dot mount milled for it. IMO, a fantastic gun.
I bought a red dot mount for mine from egw. Just drove out rear sight out of the dove tail. Applied some loctite and tapped in the red dot mount in its place.
I like all of your reviews. Most professional on you tube in my opinion. I have and enjoy a Grand Power and wonder if you have ever done a review of this pistol. Thanks.
@@BigJohnsonGG trying to be better than the gun isnt ignorant. Too many people rely on having the best parts on their gun rather than actually relying on their own skills. Pretty sad. I love challenging those kind of guys except I pull out 2 sccy cpx2's and hand them one. They all of a sudden dont do too well lol. That's why I train a lot with the worst. Because if you can get good with the worst, you can dominate with anything else. Bob munden was the best and he didnt need a gun better than he was. But that's the difference between average and the greats.
That rear sight IS windage adjustable. I can easily see the adjustment screw. This is the second time you've reviewed a pistol (SAR K12 Sport) with windage adjustable rear sights and said they weren't. How can you miss such an obvious detail? FWIW, my recently purchased Defiant Limited-Pro in 40 S&W required a lot of elevation adjustment and a little left windage.
Bought an EAA Witness in 10mm. Great fun to shoot. got a new trigger and springs from Hennings which converts it to a single action. Much better trigger.
As for: "A competition gun makes a pretty damn good home defense gun, regardless of what people say." I was about to say other variants have a rail, but none of them have this stainless finish. Every other gun I own has a rail so when I finally get my paws on the Stock II that is how I mentally justify it...lol I do however have a full sized steel witness in 45acp in wonder finish with Loc grips. I have had it for years and years and it looks brand new.
Ok, so... first impressions of this fella's shooting skills: Don't break into his house unless you want to get triple-tapped _very_ quickly lol. Excellent video, beautiful firearm, thanks for the review.
I love my Tanfoglio Witness Pro 10mm I swapped the front sight with a Dawson Presision fiber optic and now is a nail driver. If you can find a Sar K12 Sport get it, not only they are about $700 but they have the best of CZ and Tanfoglio put together in one pistol.
I had both the Extreme Stock 2 and the Match at one time but after I bought my TSO they just weren't making it to the range so I sold them. Both fine guns though, I especially liked the Match.
A Tanfoglio has a completely different firing control group, a vastly superior one, and several internal improvements. It's no more a CZ clone than a CZ is a P210 clone
I’m awaiting my Tanfoglio Defiant Stock Master in 10mm, to get here tomorrow. It should be a complete blast to shoot. I purchased it strictly for home defense because I wanted an all metal 10mm pistol and for the money, I don’t think I could have done any better.
I got the Stock 3. It had not been sighted in either. I think they screw it all the way down for shipping. Less chance of breaking the sight during transit if it's hard against the base. IMO these are good for people like me that enjoy stripping and polishing internal parts to get them to run faster. Tinkering is fun
You would think a gun in that price range would come from the factory with the sights adjusted! I can't think of a gun I have purchased in the price range that wasn't just about spot on.
Thanks again for the great video, HO! I've seen a lot of competitors on the IDPA circuit running Stock IIs. I hope to see a 1,000 round review on this pistol. As always, Mrs. HO is hillarious!
I picked up a Tanfoglio limited custom in 40S&W on sale. I was struck by how rough the gun was out of the box. Interior machining is very norincoesque. very rough coarse machining. The trigger was utter trash. The 40S&W magazines would induce incessant malfunctions. I put a ton of new parts and tuning and polishing into it and converted the magazines to 10mm by removing the filler plate and replacing the followers. Now the pistol is sweet and runs like a dream. And is ridiculously accurate and fast. If you want something nice out of the box definitely get a CZ. If you are looking for a home gunsmithing upgrade project... get a tanfoglio on sale and get to work. IMHO.

Have two polymer models (full & carry) had to adjust the sights. Dotted the front blade with a glow paint. Bought them in 2013, sub $300. Both are accurate and eat everything I feed them.
SAR USA K12 SPORT, just like that one for 1/2 price 👍. It's a great gun easy to work on All the common upgrades to those guns can be done. Missing attack rail does hurt but it's only a holster fun gun
I have the 9mm and .45 both I bought back in 1996 outstanding pistols I prefer them over my browning high power or Glock 17 I have a Jericho 941 I think is pretty close but hey it’s basically the same design..the witness been actually around longer then the cz75 in the western world …best trigger ever
Buy the Limited version: Crisp Single-action-only trigger which is longer forward = better ergonomics. Also easily-adjustable sight windage, and a slightly longer barrel.
@Chris G My CZ's came with 3 mags so I have 3 17 round and 3 18 round plus one 17+2 which I bought thru Mec-Gar @ $24.95. Sig mags. are expensive I don't think any go for less than $49.95 ea.
@Chris G Yeah I have so many magazines I can't remember them all. Even my P 365 mags were $49 ea and I bought 2 12 and 2 15's. Did the P 320 in Sub Compact then changed the frame to X compact and magazines. Sig got's a lot of money from me. And they are pricey.
I saw a Rock Island in the store the other day that was a clone of the CZ. Had a polymer frame, they had 3" and 4" barrels there. Wanted to put it on layaway, but i gotta wait 😑
Not for competition but for home defense & carry. The Tristar imported canik55 c100 lightweight compact has been 100% reliable for me with over 1,ooo rounds of pre-pandemic 9mm. It's all metal, has a hammer and manual safety. I prefer the da/sa feature and have this pistol at my bedside vs my ppq which is more accurate. Turks make great cz75 clones!!
It's not a stainless-steel finish or metal. It is hard Chromed., It is pretty. Nice gun. I have one. It is my main gun for USPSA shoots. I have a Stock 1 in plain black for backup if it were to ever fail..
I do appreciate your videos and wish I can get some of the guns you shoot ( I live in CA.). On two that I recently watched you said you would have to drift the rear sight to adjust but looking at the guns there is a adjustment screw on the right side of the blade for side to side adjustment.
If you can find a "small frame" version of this gun, your CZ 75 mags will work with it. They are hard to come by though, most now are the large frame version like you have
the lack of malfunctions in cz variants, the triggers (oh, the triggers), the low bore axis, the deep beaver tail (perfect for pistol whipping from the muzzle), the accuracy, the capacity; cz 75 is the only true successor to the 1911 for all things good with a pistol. that said, a 5 inch "government model" 1911 simply cannot be beat in the pistol whipping from the muzzle department.
I’m excited to know what this gun actually is...there is a pair of them in a local gun store for around 700$ a piece I have/had no idea what they were..... ok I guess I’m off to pick one (or both) up yeah ....I know it’s late I mean in the morning ... Thanks outlaw keep up the good work
@@SnapD24 The rear sight literally has a windage screw. He could have adjusted it when he was adjusting elevation. Would have only taken him a few seconds.
I'm glad you said it... There's the preconceived notion that a competition gun wont work for anything but competition... I'm mean if the gun wont run it's not going to be a popular competition gun because you have to be a le to finish one in order to win. Not to mention ranges where competitions are held at aren't some clean room like a say a persons house is. You have dirt dust and grime that's in the air and your gun is normally very well lubed and if you have to use chamber flags it's open for everything to get inside of it. Are they as reliable as other guns normally used for self defense or law enforcement probably not but theres not enough of a difference there that would make your gun fail. Very little critical thinking needed to figure this out... LOL Cool gun had to come back to this video after the one you dropped today because I missed it.

I have a Tanfoglio in 10mm, great gun
Not only do I love you and your videos, you've let us know you're a UFC fan. I love it! 👍
Looks great! But I won't be replacing my Shadow 2 with one!
@Chris G You can buy Mec-gar magazines 17 + 2 rounds $24.95 last time I checked.
@Chris G My CZ's came with 3 mags so I have 3 17 round and 3 18 round plus one 17+2 which I bought thru Mec-Gar @ $24.95. Sig mags. are expensive I don't think any go for less than $49.95 ea.
@Chris G I noticed CZ Shadows starting to go up in price so buy one as soon as you can they are a great bargain. Did you buy P 226 Legion or standard?
@Chris G Yeah I have so many magazines I can't remember them all. Even my P 365 mags were $49 ea and I bought 2 12 and 2 15's. Did the P 320 in Sub Compact then changed the frame to X compact and magazines. Sig got's a lot of money from me. And they are pricey.
The rare sight is fully adjustable.Check the screw on the right side.
been waiting for this review from you sir..can't wait for the thousand round review..
That's one I'd love to add to my collection. I have the 10mm compact p model. It shoots really well.
I saw a Rock Island in the store the other day that was a clone of the CZ. Had a polymer frame, they had 3" and 4" barrels there. Wanted to put it on layaway, but i gotta wait 😑
Beware of the casual gun store trip..lol
You and ur wife are awesome I like how y’all have fun with everything and shooting. I got my wife watching ur page now she a big fan of ur wife lol.
Got 2 10mm eaa compact a 4.5 all steel both m-carbo spring kit and the polish job both are beasts now lol good video as usual sir
It's not a stainless-steel finish or metal. It is hard Chromed., It is pretty. Nice gun. I have one. It is my main gun for USPSA shoots. I have a Stock 1 in plain black for backup if it were to ever fail..
need the 10mm version of this the beast especially the 6inch
If you want a competition Tanfoglio with a rail, there are the Stock I, Stock III and Stock Polymer, they are cheaper too.
That’s a beautiful gun. Thank you for sharing.
Those sights are fully adjustable. I hope you discovered it in the last year.
They are hard to come by though, most now are the large frame version like you have
Maybe the rear sight windage adjustment was maxed out? But geez I cringed every time you called it “stainless” ☹️
Hard chrome
But would you pick it over a CZ Shadow II?
I've never been able to transition to single stage with a beaver tail. One of the things I miss from my USP.
Look into the IFG Stock 1 small frame!
the lack of malfunctions in cz variants, the triggers (oh, the triggers), the low bore axis, the deep beaver tail (perfect for pistol whipping from the muzzle), the accuracy, the capacity; cz 75 is the only true successor to the 1911 for all things good with a pistol. that said, a 5 inch "government model" 1911 simply cannot be beat in the pistol whipping from the muzzle department.
Sweet gun but I'd be killer with sights and a rail. Looking forward to the 1000 round review.
Awesome review. Waiting for a review of the RIA STK 100.
I love my 10mm Steel frame. I believe the Stock II is hard chrome finish, not stainless.
I think you're right. My Witness Stock I is hard chrome plated steel.
@@n0yxl I'd have sold my liver for a Stock II if they were stainless steel.
I pity the dude that thinks of breaking into this guy's house . Man could circumcise a mosquito from 100 yards .
Lol
It would be very interesting if you could try the tanfoglio1911 witness custom
I’m excited to know what this gun actually is...there is a pair of them in a local gun store for around 700$ a piece I have/had no idea what they were..... ok I guess I’m off to pick one (or both) up yeah ....I know it’s late I mean in the morning ...
Thanks outlaw keep up the good work
always wanted the Tanfoglio Witness Pavona ...
6:30 Why would you have to drift for windage when the rear sight appears to have a windage screw?
Less to mess with if you're good with holdovers. Seemed like he wanted to get the shooting done sooner rather than later.
@@SnapD24 The rear sight literally has a windage screw. He could have adjusted it when he was adjusting elevation. Would have only taken him a few seconds.
He didn't notice the windage screw
Her comments never disappoint
The newest version the Stock3 also has bad sights. I put the SRO on mine.
Like most guns, they have gotten too damn expensive, so I opted for the Girsan 1911 long slide hunter for about half the price of the Tanfoglio.
