I think it's kind of ridiculous for Ubisoft to remove Rocksmith 2014 from digital stores while Rocksmith+ still feels empty/still in beta in terms of features.
Why? Do you imagine there’s a huge amount of people clamouring to buy rocksmith 2014 for full price that they should negotiate with record labels to extend it another 10 years when they’ve moved to a subscription platform?
@@toymachinesh I feel like people would be more satisfied with Rocksmith 2014 because it's not subscription based, there's custom tones, and cdlc (among other things) and only being able to get RS+ kind of feels like you're getting less for more (in terms of customizability, not song selection)
@@fractureduniverse7470 Did you ever consider that since Ubisoft does not make money off of cdlc that it may be a reason to move to a subscription model?
I agree. Piano addition is the only reason as of right now that I am planning on getting the game. It was the next instrument I wanted to learn. I'm predicting that it initially is probably not gonna be very good or in depth and will feel kinda rushed. However, I hope and think it will definitely improve over time
@kaasboerjan5685 lol I've never heard of it. My piano quest is in the very infant stages so I don't really know what is put there for it. However I got the rocksmith news since I already play guitar and use rocksmith. But I will have to check that out, thanks!
Rocksmith 2014+ Needs tone designer BADLY. The fact that tone designer dont exist in Plus is the sole reason I wont play it. If they added tone designer in a update id buy it
Agreed, if they had tone designer or at the very least a way to switch to tones (songs in plus don’t have a 3 tone limit) it would make chord charts into a better session mode
My only problem with r+ is it’s so expensive for me it would work for me cause I travel so much but the price 100 dollars a year or 14 a month is complete insanity i would much rather pay 200 dollars for a one time purchase then pay a monthly sub
I always loved rocksmith 2014, but if there's one thing I absolutely despise, it's these stupid subscription models. If I buy a game, I want to own it forever. I'll pay for the game, and I'll pay for the DLC, but I'm not gonna pay to play a game I already own.
I've only avoided RS+ due to not really needing it and RS2014 still being good enough for me with or without CDLC. But the piano addition will get me on board I think as it just makes it so much more viable and flexible for not only me as I play guitar and piano, but also the household as those who don't play guitar in my home DO play piano.
gimme session mode, gimme tone designer gimme multiplayer mode, and i could play rocksmith plus with my mom on the piano while i play guitar.. how amazing would that be???
I wish they actually cared about improving this game. At least that is my opinion. I haven't seen any major changes since I tried it out over a year ago. There are so many creators such as yourself that could really give them some amazing feedback to turn this into a legitimate music learning engine, especially with the piano support. I'm a little optimistic for the piano content since I am currently using a separate piano learning software. Would be nice to just have one sub for all my music learning software. I'm just not sure what direction rocksmith + is trying to go in, but it still feels utterly directionless.
Piano support will finally bring me into RS+ if it's even moderately well implemented. I don't think though, even then it will replace rs14 for my 2700 hours in. I think it's just too handy with the CDLC. But you put piano in +, then I might be down for the sub. Also add some drums, and I'll be shouting to take my money. This needs to turn into Bandsmith if it wants to be around for years and years to come.
I still play 2014 pretty much every day. Rocksmith + has minor improvements in Riff Repeater, but nothing else IMO. I prefer the 2014 note pathway. I play a lot of Score Attack because you get better feedback. There was never a time where I wanted to play it on my phone, but I always preferred playing on a large tv via PlayStation. Thousands of uncharted songs that I mostly don't care for don't interest me. There are artists with dozens of songs, but not the only one that I liked by the group. I hoped that they would add features back, but they never have.
What would bring me back is not having most of their songs as cord charts. I wanna play the full song not just the cords. Rocksmith was my primary way of learning songs. I got tired that most the songs i wanted to play werent charted fully.
Just cancelled my annual subscription a few weeks ago and now they are adding Piano. My membership is good through December so let's see if that sells me into renewing or not. Was very disappointed in year one updates.
Would be cool if rocksmith got to the point of rockband where you can play with friends, drums, bass vocals, guitars, ECT. Online would be cool but latency would be a nightmare
Ok, I have not touched an instrument in my life. My younger brother has some Squier guitar collecting dust in the corner of the room so I need one good soul to tell me if this thing is worth a try? My expectation is to learn to pick at some strings, maybe play a song or two and just get a feeling for the guitar. If it can get me to a more intermediate level - that is a bonus.
Im interested to see your perspective after trying it out. It's hard not to be negative coming from 2014 as a more experienced player. I can see the value if you are starting from the beginning with the lessons.
Oh yikes, I do prefer immediate feedback. I'm a novice, so when I'm really out of my depth being able to lower the speed and make sure I'm doing things correctly was really helpful.
(Could use some advice) Not sure if I wanna get it or not. I'm about as green as they come. I goofed around a lot with a guitar when I was a kid, but just didn't have money for proper training. So I just learned how to play bits and pieces of songs and that was it. Zero musical education, just parroting songs and riffs. I do want to learn, just as a hobby. No plans to play in a band or anything. Plus now is probably better than ever to learn with how the internet has evolved with online lessons etc. So as far as an actual learning tool, how would yall rate this? Like this is all you need? This and a few lessons? Or just stick to lessons, and this is just a game that you happen to be able to play with a guitar?
pick up a bass in E standard tuning. And try to play it with rocksmith bass video available in youtube. If you enjoy it. Torrent the Rocksmith 2014 game.
My biggest feedback on RS+ tbh is that it feels...unnecessary. there are some cool idea but even after a year it still looks inferior to Rocksmith 2014. They've improved the string colours a little but it still looks awful and is much more difficult to read. As you mentioned with the menu's, they just don't work for the style of song selection Adding the piano feeos like a good move, but whats the point if it's going to be as badly developed as the guitar and bass?
The point is that they weren't making much money with 2014 since it was old the song licenses renewal was coming up. Companies consider the subscription model the holy grail. Ubisoft has been trash for many many years.
It’s all about the money. But yes graphically it’s a bit more crisp but I actually feel there’s less features. Maybe more how to videos. But no arcade etc. I prefer 2014.
The only real complaint I had with RS+ is that I found myself playing the same like 6 songs whenever I'd open it up. I haven't touched it since launch I believe. Maybe I'll give it another shot sometime soon.
Kinda weird, I'm listening to your critique of the lack of missing notes and I played Rocksmith 2014 the other day and thought the exact opposite. In + I easily see the missed notes (at the top), but in 2014 I could not. Perhaps it's just in a different place to where we are expecting it to be (I haven't played 2014 in a couple of years, so I've totally forgotten).
The thing I'm referring too is right at the fretboard where you have feedback if the note is being hit or missed Yeah you see where in the song you missed the note in +, but I mean more so as you're playing
My whole thing is, I hate the idea of paying for a subscription for it. I'd much rather buy it, and purchase songs if I choose to, and own it. However, I would subscribe if they finally added drums to it. For now, I'm thinking of getting Paradiddle on VR for drums, as it's about the only option for drums right now that's similar...
I have had Rocksmith 2014 for a long time, still their old tone cables that I always have to solder to make them work. Was waiting for it to be released in PS5 but guess that won't be happening so looked at it for PC. If it didn't had the subscribtion fee then I most likely would have gotten it. But the main thing that is holding me back is the fact that the songs can be removed any time and it needs to be online at all times which I am not too sure how mods will work if they can for this platform. Guess I will stick with my 2014 edition when moving forward. If my wife wants to go back into learning piano then I guess the sub would be worth it since we can share the account.
Honestly, this rs game needs to give us a little more than that. No tones? This should've been a thing from the beginning. I hate the tones in rs 14 because they are way too quiet or don't have enough power in them, so I can't imagine the devs fixed it in the new one. Custom tones are mandatory! The new songs are just okay. So far I haven't seen a single rs youtuber showcase a song that is genuinly very interesting (besides that one Metallica song that you can only play in certain regions). But the piano addition is a welcoming change. What troubles me though is that they will probably add more piano based songs than guitar songs with rock features (although there are exceptions like Night Ranger or Lynyrd Skynyrd). I also miss drums, considering there were some prototype showcases just when rs 14 aired. What about it now? Did the devs ditch the development on drums? In my opinion, they would fit even better to the "Rock"smith theme than piano and I hope the piano addition does not affect the implantation of drums. There are certainly more things I'd like to say but it's mostly just small things that annoy me personally, like the overlay.
Coming back to RS after a couple of years, finding this video to know if it's worth an upgrade. Thanks for giving clues to be sure I don't need to waste my money on RS+ ^^ 1- I don't have all titles I would like on 2014, but I still got way more than with R+ thanks to old DLCs and CDLCs. 20$ a month and zero QOTSA, Fu Manchu etc... no thanks. 2- Worst case scenario I can do CDLC by my own 3- I paid enough with 2014, its DLCs, its stupid slow DRM dongle (and had to get a good audio interface and mod 2014 to get rid of latency...) 4- FO Ubisoft, seriously at every new game launch they compete with EA for the title of the worst greedy piece of S in the gaming industry. 5- 2014 looks nicer when playing and is faster to launch, how is this possible... oh, yeah, Ubisoft, again... I wouldn't be surprised if during every song loading RS+ contacts Ubisoft servers to be sure subscription is still valid.
it's more expensive than the previous game for just 1 month's access or say 1 year if you include however many dlcs i got in the last one but still modding & being able to play offline was great. Now this monthly more expensive than netflix, more expensive than world of warcraft. I could never justify purchasing this subscription model no matter how many features or songs they add. if it's genuinely teaching people and has enough content to teach someone for years then i'd say the price might be fine but i'm just looking to mess around and have fun on the off occasion, so expensive for my needs.
I'm just trying the game now, and so far, guitarplay and interface wise I think it's better than the 2014 version, I don't mind the visual feedback not being as present, I think the recommendations in the end are big plus, this way you can jump right into the sections you sucked the most. My only gripe with the visuals is the colors, I constantly confuse the yellow and orange notes, they are very similar in my screen, but maybe changing the colors can solve that for me. My true problem with the game is the song library, they have thousands of songs but most of them as far as I can tell are really farfetched, I mean yeah you have Sepultura and Fear Factory for example, but you have whole albums with songs that aren't familiar to most players, I kinda preferred the selection that 2014 had because you had the biggest hits from a wider variety of more known artists. What's the point about licensing with labels if you still don't have the greatest hits of the bands? Are they planing on adding them all in the near future? You only have 5 songs from Linkin Park and they're all from the Meteora unreleased songs, I like Lost and Fighting Myself, but c'mon give me the true hits! Another example is Maneskin, great rock artist, what is the single song available? Somebody told me cover... Why? At this moment in time I don't believe the library justifies the price they're asking for the subscription, 100$ a year when you have games like Just Dance also from Ubisoft with 25$ subscriptions... I know the licensing process is not the same but still... The piano addition though that's interesting, and may be worth to some people just because of that alone.
@@RiffRepeater well that's even worse IMO, I know the agreements with labels have country restrictions but it's kind of bulshit that not everyone gets to have the same experience. As far as I remember this wasn't the case with the 2014 version.
Just saw the “Master of Puppets but every time he says ‘Master’ the song gets faster” vid and I have something you should try, …And Justice for All but every time he says “Justice” the song gets faster. Do it now, thank me later 👍
I'M SO HAPPY I'VE FOUND SOMEONE ELSE WHO PLAYS ROCKSMITH WITH A 7 STRING I played through the original on PS4 with 7 string, I have yet to pounce on plus yet
I am probably not gonna be getting Rocksmith+ because they haven’t even released it for other countries. Also, they haven’t even released it for consoles yet I don’t get that😕🙁.
One reason given for consoles not coming yet is periphels was yet ready. I tried rocksmith 2014 with keyboards and it works 90 percent of the time. I think it was the midi periphel they are going with to work with keyboards. Ps5 may not work with midi signals who knows. Speaking ps5 and lack of optic port, could be they having trouble with audio lag. I'm just amazed they got keyboard seemingly out of nowhere coming. Probaly decided 6, 7months ago to get keys going for ps5.
Great video Chainbrain! some good points raised, would love to see another video on RS+ and playing a few songs if possible and feedback on it all again! just an idea matey (Y) keep rocking my guy! 🎸
library still sucks. If I'm paying a subscription I'd rather have a smaller, better selection of songs than the entire mountain of garbage RS+ has. RS2014 actually had good DLC. what happened??
@@Chainbrain All I said to you was how I thought the price was too high and you got super aggressive and seemed to imply that I was just looking for things to hate. Kinda took that personally for a while.
I apologize for that then. It was a weird time and I was wading through lots of hyper negative comments, not to mention the personal attacks to my integrity etc
did you play the original rocksmith (2011) or rocksmith 2014 or synthesia 2.3 or synthesia 4, rockband game, guitar hero drum, frets of fire, phase shift or other rhytim game in general ?
long story short then is RS+ is still a heap of s#@! and like I thought won't get anywhere until they reopen the doors we had in RS2014, thanks for helping me keep my money still in my pocket, with or without a piano (which I have) it's still pointless from my perspective.
@@Chainbrain It would be nice if they had some kind of vetted submission process for bands or solo musicians to upload their own work and charts though, some care about the licensing deals but not all. It's a shame there won't be any community made songs/charts for RS+, especially with them discontinuing RS2014
I see what you're saying about indie artists not being able to be in the game. I wonder how they could make it easier for people to self submit stuff 🤔
I'm just gonna say all these comments wishing for RS+ to fail are really fucking weird because if it fails, the franchise is done, and we are stuck in the box of 2014 and customs forever. If RS+ adding a whole new instrument (piano) does not show you the possibility of the platform and software, I really feel like nothing was going to make you happy
@@Chainbrain at what point did I wish it to fail? Get a grip. Maybe take a break for a while it seems you need it, it's really not that serious, it's really weird that you're so invested and clearly emotionally attached to rocksmith
What is the point of this game. Is got to be the worst way you could learn a song. The song selection is shitty. It's pretty much only for youtubers to have a visual to what they are playing
They have too many ghey songs on rocksmith plus...not enough slayer, machinehead, pantera, alice in chains, etc... actual rock songs... But i will say they do have a good amout of sepultura, i give them at. And also they have a couple of Ministry songs but not the good ones.

Coming back to RS after a couple of years, finding this video to know if it's worth an upgrade. Thanks for giving clues to be sure I don't need to waste my money on RS+ ^^
1- I don't have all titles I would like on 2014, but I still got way more than with R+ thanks to old DLCs and CDLCs. 20$ a month and zero QOTSA, Fu Manchu etc... no thanks.
2- Worst case scenario I can do CDLC by my own
3- I paid enough with 2014, its DLCs, its stupid slow DRM dongle (and had to get a good audio interface and mod 2014 to get rid of latency...)
4- FO Ubisoft, seriously at every new game launch they compete with EA for the title of the worst greedy piece of S in the gaming industry.
5- 2014 looks nicer when playing and is faster to launch, how is this possible... oh, yeah, Ubisoft, again... I wouldn't be surprised if during every song loading RS+ contacts Ubisoft servers to be sure subscription is still valid.
I tried it a few months ago and its still poopy doopy
I believe you but I also kind of don't believe someone who would call something "poopy doooy" is old enough to have a credit card to subscribe 😂
@@Chainbrain Hahaha I'm 24 if you're wondering
it's more expensive than the previous game for just 1 month's access or say 1 year if you include however many dlcs i got in the last one but still modding & being able to play offline was great. Now this monthly more expensive than netflix, more expensive than world of warcraft. I could never justify purchasing this subscription model no matter how many features or songs they add.
if it's genuinely teaching people and has enough content to teach someone for years then i'd say the price might be fine but i'm just looking to mess around and have fun on the off occasion, so expensive for my needs.
are you abel do add cdlc like u did in 2014
I pay just for access to most of The Clash's discography.
got damn i am so mad at myself for not getting the org rocksmith before they removed fuck
cough torrent with nocable.
@@bluedragontoybash2463link it please
20€ a fkn month and you don't even get any kind of trail if you don't buy a full year. Fk ubisoft it's just disgusting.
There's actually 18 Linkin Park songs but you are in a region that only has five
@@RiffRepeater well that's even worse IMO, I know the agreements with labels have country restrictions but it's kind of bulshit that not everyone gets to have the same experience. As far as I remember this wasn't the case with the 2014 version.
But I'm too lazy to learn 5 string bass lol
Just happy I got RS 2014 and don't have to deal with this subscription fees bullshit
Just saw the “Master of Puppets but every time he says ‘Master’ the song gets faster” vid and I have something you should try, …And Justice for All but every time he says “Justice” the song gets faster. Do it now, thank me later 👍
Ive just given up hope on this coming to console, unfortunately I don't have a PC and don't really want to play on my mobile
The console delay is very very strange considering how similar consoles are to PCs now, and how much of the content of RS+ delivered over the internet
Completely irrelevant to the video topic lol but where did you buy your video game shirts?

@@Chainbrain Awesome, thanks!
I'M SO HAPPY I'VE FOUND SOMEONE ELSE WHO PLAYS ROCKSMITH WITH A 7 STRING
I played through the original on PS4 with 7 string, I have yet to pounce on plus yet
I am probably not gonna be getting Rocksmith+ because they haven’t even released it for other countries. Also, they haven’t even released it for consoles yet I don’t get that😕🙁.
What country are you in?
One reason given for consoles not coming yet is periphels was yet ready.
I tried rocksmith 2014 with keyboards and it works 90 percent of the time. I think it was the midi periphel they are going with to work with keyboards. Ps5 may not work with midi signals who knows.
Speaking ps5 and lack of optic port, could be they having trouble with audio lag.
I'm just amazed they got keyboard seemingly out of nowhere coming.
Probaly decided 6, 7months ago to get keys going for ps5.
@@RiffRepeaterI don’t live in a country I think but I live in the state of Pennsylvania
Guy says "mobile" like he's Bane.
Hey mr.chain i have a song request Midnight Prowling Leather, if you can beat it 👋🏻🤘🏻
Yo Midnight friggin rules 😎🤘
Great video Chainbrain! some good points raised, would love to see another video on RS+ and playing a few songs if possible and feedback on it all again! just an idea matey (Y) keep rocking my guy! 🎸
it has no songs for the price it is
This reminds me. I have a couple of other dlc to buy before RS 2014 store shuts down.
Rocksmith+ is an overpriced dumpster fire
I'm just here to make videos dude
I’m not ragging on you, man. Just not impressed with RS+ offering right now
library still sucks. If I'm paying a subscription I'd rather have a smaller, better selection of songs than the entire mountain of garbage RS+ has. RS2014 actually had good DLC. what happened??
Is there a modding community for RS+? I just started looking into what the landscape is currently
Don't trust modern day Ubiscam...
so you have been paying a subscription to a game you haven't played in almost a year? you see the problem there? subscriptions killed Rocksmith.
If they add drums I will subscribe
Yeah you were kind of a jerk to people who were simply being critical of RS+. Hopefully you've chilled out. I rather enjoyed your videos.
Also, I was always critical of RS+ myself, people just couldn't handle someone pointing out anything positive
@@Chainbrain Forgiven. I didn't consider that other's were giving you a hard time.
did you play the original rocksmith (2011) or rocksmith 2014 or synthesia 2.3 or synthesia 4, rockband game, guitar hero drum, frets of fire, phase shift or other rhytim game in general ?
People shouldn’t bother with rocksmith
The song list is very poor. Hundreds of songs but barely any interesting enough to play.
I would have agreed a few months ago, but the last updates have been bangers
Ey ChAiN y U pLaY 7 StRiNg On RoCkSmItH
I read this comment the EXACT moment he said it, perfectly synced up
Over priced sub, no mini games, weak af song list, bad ui, and the showstopper - no custom songs. Zero chance I'd consider this.
long story short then is RS+ is still a heap of s#@! and like I thought won't get anywhere until they reopen the doors we had in RS2014, thanks for helping me keep my money still in my pocket, with or without a piano (which I have) it's still pointless from my perspective.
If cdlc was able to work, it would be the only way to save the game. Then they could use that money to get actual decent licenses
No label would license anything to RS+ ever again if they allowed CDLC on a live service game. They'd probably get sued, actually.
I know a lot of people who have learned guitar with Rocksmith. Also seems you are being particularly negative about something you haven't tried 🤔
3 sting
They have too many ghey songs on rocksmith plus...not enough slayer, machinehead, pantera, alice in chains, etc... actual rock songs...
But i will say they do have a good amout of sepultura, i give them at. And also they have a couple of Ministry songs but not the good ones.
Pointless
Looks pretty crap still. I hate so much the netflix style menu, and the colours.. and well everything is downgrade. But I think that the Piano addition may save RS+ if it is well made. Then it'll be Pianosmith+. Rocksmith will always mean rs2014.
Rocksmith+ not being on ps5 is just completely BS screw rocksmith+
