Interesting that there wasn't a singhle shipping container, but much timber, petrol (you call it 'gas') or other chemicals, louvre vans (you say 'box cars') and assorted other wagons. From a music theory perspective, as the second train passed the horns went from a D chord to a C# chord due to the Doppler effect; I was checking it with my concert tuning app. The greater the interval, the faster they're moving, or something like that.
The home with the two space ships are relatives of mine. But I think they moved out a few years ago. The one space ship came from the South Dayton , OHIO airport along OHIO rt. 741. One son used it as a bachelor pad. Then years later he acquired a second space ship and joined them.

That is some house, LoL Ready for lift-off. Oh wow!! The Spirit of Cincinnati #5500!!! Nice catch! Hey Chessie!! #1 Raildog Fan! Hey Norfie!

There goes the rooster! ...That 1st train - what's the hurry?? ...Dupps mainline is the only line!...Love the alien house! ... Those 2 huge items were whatchamacallits for the thingamajigs.
Good to see the Dupps branch line getting some heavy machinery moved over it. Sure would have been nice to have see them move the cars out from the works with that sweet little red loco of theirs! You'll have to have a chat with their managers about tipping you off when there's about to be a movement on their line. I'm sure all your subscribers would love the chance to watch it on video. The two trains on this video were doing around 50 mph I would estimate. Probably the line speed is around that so they're moving well. Thanks for another great video and a good look at those heavy 8 axle low loading cars. They look neat, and are well built for heavy loads like these.
I was cringing when you got near those two rail cars with the pieces of equipment on them at the beginning of the video. You are braver than I would be. I would be afraid of someone calling the cops on me. I was kind of surprised when you walked right up to them. But I'm glad you showed 'em to us anyway. 97 on the first train, I'm pretty sure. At 6:18 that house was made with two Futuro houses. It's good to see them in use as part of a home. In fact that was really cool. I only have seen one of them here in NJ and it's on display in a small town in Cumberland County. 157 on the next train, I think. But I didn't think that one was going very fast.
Jaw that was great good catch on those special depress flat cars . 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 and booking fast trains aswell Thxs 👍🏻🇨🇦🇺🇸 . Pets just hanging out 😂 be safe Robin . Out
UK in the house again! Yet again some scenes from America that I wouldn't see otherwise on this side of the Atlantic. There is no doubt that your trains in the US are getting longer. I was surprised to see that with over 150 freight wagons there was no DPU. Maybe a lot of that stuff was running empty. A very interesting little branch line too, but not even you, Jaw Tooth, are going to wait for months to capture one train.
The long trains are a relatively new thing here within about 5 or 10 years. They call it Precision Scheduled Railroading. With this, the railroad companies such as CSX and Norfolk Southern for example run trains up to 15,000 feet, or longer. This means they don't need to run as many trains and can utilize fewer crew members. These longer trains are presenting a problem for the railroads especially in the northeast in New York State and throughout New England where the terrain is quite hilly. There have been cases where Norfolk Southern trains have stalled on the former Delaware and Hudson lines. This required splitting the train into smaller parts in order to climb the grades. The other issue is storage and sidings. What do you do with a train that's more than 15,000 feet long? Without long sidings and yards to hold them, they remain on the mainlines which cause blockages. What happens if there's a technical problem requiring the train to sit or outlaw? (Outlaw means the crew runs out of operating hours and has to be replaced). These trains can end up blocking level crossings as we've seen in some of Brian's videos. With CSX, they have found that this doesn't work for everything, and they've made some changes in their operations while NS is still figuring that out and paying the price for it from what I read on other rail-related forums. The lack of a DPU can mean many things. This could be based on the kind of commodities, kind of the terrain, or any other things. Where I live in New England, we rarely see a DPU but then again, our trains are maybe 50 to 60 cars at the most.
They were on their way to the 🔥🚒 werent they !? Cool to see industrial track in such a place with all those manicured grassy areas. You might do a double take. Chessie and Norfie are the stars of the second half of the show. They really are pals ! 🐕😺❤️

JT, another VERY interesting video and thanks for sharing! You film at some GREAT spots in these cozy towns that I wish I could visit. You made a VERY important point about approaching trains seemingly going so slow from a distance and then suddenly, they speed by you. Too many people who cross the tracks with a train coming think that they can beat the "slow" train and then sometimes, a train hits their car and kills them like what happened north of me here in New Mexico in the past week. Such a VERY preventable tragedy and the poor engineers and train personnel have to witness the carnage afterwards.
I dream of a day when I can see a train pulling many flatbeds loaded with Ford Pintos, AMC Pacers, and GMC Gremlins. 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for sharing your adventures JT.
@@hipcat13 I liked the Vegas that were rail-transported vertically, standing on their nose - lots of stills online, but no video that I know of. A movie of the loading-unloading operation would be fascinating. They called it Vert-a-Pac.
I don't blame Chessie for wanting to stay inside. The office of my house is the only room with AC so a lot of my cats enjoy that with me. Others that feel it is too cold in here fur them, have other ways to beat the heat. They find cool spots around the house, often out of the way dark places where they can keep cool and sleep. I know all their spots! So, there will often be food/water provided in those spots.

There are indeed fewer trains using fewer locomotives. Fuel costs are a major factor in how much power they are allocated. There are other issues as well. Crew shortages are vexing.

Uk Scotland here. I have a North American layout in “n”. I can run a 10 car train with a DPU but it doesn’t look right! Need a house extension. Can’t model a 2 mile long train! The other thing I notice about American locomotives is the speed at which older ones are disappearing with standardisation on two or three basic types. Looks like that with the class 1 railroads certainly.
I would love to see how that little loco pushed those flat cars......did they make 2 trips or 1? From way it looks you would think they would be coupled
Love your videos! Please comment on train horn signals. I only know the one for crossings. What the RR names for the different cars? What are the contents of the top loading cars if you know? Most of your viewers are not former RR employees I'm guessing.
It had to be a real experience to witness the passage of mega car meets mini locomotive. While the two empties might be moved in one trip you'd have had a double treat outbound. Of course the whole move has to be orchestrated at the shop to make room.for these loads and then slowly push them to the CSX interchange. Hence the Duff brakeman most likely drives a truck to make sure the truck is open and protect Xing s. Well worth the price of admission. Both CSX trains at a good clip..first train with vintage gons at the end. 1 each B&O and SCL. Halfway thru the other one covered hoppers OFOX\INTX EX MN&S\MILW RD.
