Mismatched Locomotives Take Long Train Past RR Office In Blanchester Ohio, Indiana & Ohio Railway

- 3 Huge Locomotives In Various Paint Schemes Take A Huge Mixed Freight Up The Indiana & Ohio Railway In Blanchester Ohio. Filmed From I&O Depot Office At Brick Platform. Ex Union Pacific Railroad, CSX & Burlington Northern Santa Fe Units. A 4th unit is in Genesee & Wyoming Railroad colours with I&O letters and is the local switcher that is stationed in Blanchester. It is a GP38-2.
First we see the huge train running north through Blanchester past the train station. The leading SD60M and second unit which is an SD50-2 came from Larrys Truck Electric. They are a locomotive dealer from McDonald , Ohio which is in the northeast part of the state. The 3rd unit is ex BNSF. Wells Fargo Rail had a lot of ex BNSF locomotives and I have videos of them, mostly on Norfolk Southern.
After the huge train passes we see the local switcher, GP38-2, run south into town. Shortly before this they had run north to switch the Midland Yard. However, they forgot something because we see them return to the station and then leave north again to Midland Yard. They worked the yard and then headed towards Wilmington,Ohio.
Near the end of the video we see some scenes of this railroad at Midland. Both scenes are at the abandoned depot and are in videos that I have posted. See my Indiana & Ohio Railway playlist for more.
The outro has Norfie, Chessie and Loki showing some live action on the JawTooth Compound. The dogs really like the pond. However, in the winter the pond is a hazard. A few years ago I had a dog break through the ice and I had a very difficult time rescuing him. I had to get my boat and break the ice with an oar all the way to the dog and then pull him up into the boat. That was a nightmare. The dog was fine but every winter we have to keep them away from the pond.
Our little Aubrey is seen in a recent soccer game in Mount Orab. She is number 13 and I included a couple minutes of her game. They lost 4 to 0 but they had a great time playing. Don't miss the slide show that comes from the video!
Filmed Wednesday, October 18, 2023 in 1080p with 60fps. Thanks for watching!

Nice to see the bells ring constantly as the train passes.
Yeah!
That train was Huge, cool lashup too
Thanks Mike!
Fascinating mix of power on a big freight train with plenty of gondolas, love them or hate them, they’re here. Always love big trains. Another good one JT.
Amazing that those Big Macs and dash 9’s are hand-me-downs now.
Yes, that is interesting. The railroad is always changing
You always seem to know somehow where and when to catch good action!
You got a nice acknowledgement from the engineer on the 1st train. That was quite a lash-up for a local carrier!
thanks for watching!
That's a cool catch JT.
Doesn't Indiana and Ohio RR run to Columbus and pick up Ohio Central.
I&O does have pretty locomotives
In the first part, most of those cars, with the exception of the tankers and few box cars, were in bad condition and need to be reworked. That Blanchester local was EXCELLENT. Where I live, you just don't see them cruise up line that and see someone hop off. Really enjoyed seeing that..
There are only two types of gondola: new ones and beat-up ones. They get dinged a lot when they're being loaded and unloaded. Sure, they look crappy, but they're in good enough repair. Likewise surface rust on covered hoppers.
@@kh-ro5su Completely agree on the condition of the cars. IORY, though, is quite a bit bigger than you suggest. They have about 550 route-miles of track, and interchange with Canadian National, CSX (in four places) and Norfolk Southern (in five places), plus a whole bunch of short lines. IORY's own gons probably don't stray too far from home tracks, but my understanding is that they run such long trains (compared to most short lines) because they handle a lot of through traffic for the Class Is.
Great when the engineers wave to you Railfans! Always enjoy the long manifest trains and the variety they bring. Thanks for another awesome adventure and for all you do and the miles you travel to bring the trains to us. Until next time JT!!
Thank you very much!
Merci beaucoup pour cette très belle vidéo et très bon dimanche ! 🌟
I was in Blanchester when I came to my house in Wilmington last month. It was raining a lot in bands. Didn’t get lucky and see a train 🙄 oh well! I did go to the coffee shop next to the tracks but they were out of coffee , it was the end of the day. The tracks behind my house in Wilmington were very busy that week with really long trains, probably corn. Much better to see them in the winter. Thanks JawTooth!
I remember seeing the lead unit on the first train, ex UP SD60 #2376, leading a train past the old dilapidated depot on the I&O that you posted about a week ago. I've been a railfan for quite awhile and I rarely see any SD60's still in service. A lot of good content in this video, JT. Always informative and entertaining. I know you put a lot of time and effort in to making these videos and posting them for us. Keep up the good work .. thank you.
After watching a few other channels recently, this was exceptionally enjoyable for me - the other one's were so erratic with their camera that it actually made me dizzy to watch. Thank you JT for the smooth camera movements - that's a skill you have that sets you apart.
Always enjoy the informational tidbits you share. Great train shots on this one!
May God be with you.
Thanks for your comments!
Now,I LIKE THIS SPOT!❤
Good morning Fabian!@@FabianDiazTrainsTrucksNCars
Always nice watching a JT video. You keep them exciting !
Glad you like them!
Seeing all the leaves on the ground reminds me of raking leaves back on Long Island when i was a kid, and jumping into the piles. Small quaint office. Great video, thank you Brian stay well roll on
So true! I dread raking the leaves though. There are tons of them. The kids like to play in them but it is a lot of work for me lol
Amazing video friend!Great work!💖💖🤝🤝🔥🔥
Nice video of this long Indiana & Ohio manifest train in Blanchester, Ohio, Jaw Tooth! I enjoyed watching the variety of freight cars passing by on this train.
Thank you very much!
Morning JT! Looking forward to some great catches!
🚂🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃💯👍🇺🇸
Morning!
All patchwork, lovely
great video, Jaw Tooth, Have a fantastic week, filming with good weather granted, Amen.
Thank you! You too!
Also, I’m sure the Indiana and Ohio railroad folks like having some big power like we saw on that first train.
They always get interesting power.
That first catch Jawtooth it looks like there was an old train station there because of the red bricks in the ground next to the track.
Yes, years ago. Today they have an office next to it
Hi JT, Some fab locos there yes a mismatch but makes a change sometimes from CSX & N/S. Your dogs are so funny how they play they make me laugh! 😅❤😊
Thanks 👍
Hello jaw 👍🏻 Great video catch love the horn action. Soccer game 👍🏻 Jessie and the crew 👍🏻😎. Fish on . Robin out 😎
Thanks 👍
Awesome Railfan Video of a big short line consist and a light-power move from smalltown mid-America. Thank you.
Thank you very much!
Excellent catching all the trains in Blanchester, Ohio, Brian, thank you.
Thank you too!
9:03 so beautiful locomotive my friend! I liked it! Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷
Thank you very much!
Luv all those train engines!!! Great video!!! Dogs love each other! So sweet! Great soccer ⚽️ player!!!
Thank you 🤗
LOVE that sweet bright orange and yellow 2134 switch engine! 🍋
Me too!
Me and Trevor and his friends we watched your video of the maintenance truck on road track we was surprise but that crossing gate needs to be fixed. It's a great catch a freight train so I see grain cars, boxcars, tank cars oh my friend JT you inspiration to us during the time you filmed a Indiana locomotive and so awesome Lily's soccer ball game.
That is awesome! Thanks for watching
Nice engineer wave you got there, at 1:31. Great that you gave us the info on "LTEX" as Larry's Truck Electric, first locomotive dealer I've learned about. That brick-laid access strip/apron is quite special. A lot of those cars seem to have "senior citizen" status. 😁 I recollect you once told us the route miles of the IORY - is that around 70 miles? Nice to see Aubrey in soccer action - looks to be quite an age range on those teams, and they're really into it.
Thank you very much!
Nice lash up and footage, the leased power was cool 😎!🛤🚂
Glad you enjoyed
Hey jaw tooth mixed freights are my favorite. Hope your daughter's team won the game. Have a great railroad day 🚂🙋♀️
Thanks Lesa!
@@JawTooth welcome 🙋♀️😊
Excellent video!! Have a nice day 😊🌈
Thank you! You too!
A great vid! Awesome work JT!
Thanks
JT did you see the creative paint scheme on the lead Loco? They just blacked out the original owner name and put theirs in its place. Saved them from having to paint the entire engine. Good plan
Yes I saw that lol😊
Looks like an old UP, followed by an old CSX, followed by an old BNSF. Very practical to not repaint, and just change the name. Nice video, JT!
Well done 300k achieved! Love your vedios. Have you filmed on the North East corridor?
Thanks! I only filmed there once a long time ago
Good morning Jaw Tooth. Boy it is cold here in west Texas this morning. 37 degrees
Howdy!
Hey Jawtooth, as you know the Indiana and Ohio make trips to and from the Honda plant in Greensburg. Sometimes they stop in front of my friends house on Spades Rd (I guess their time runs out). They sit overnight and leave in the morning for the rest of the trip to Valley Junction. Going the other direction, towards Greensburg, the tracks parrallel Rt 46 from just before Batesville to Greensburg. Might make a good video for your fans and the crew is friendly as I have talked to them often.
I would love to film them in that area. It's just hard to catch them moving on that line and its a long drive. I do want to get them
Morning everyone
good morning!
Yo JT. I got a week off from work during winter vacation in February. Got time for a road trip here in Central New York so I can show you where to shoot trains? The Clarion Hotel has the best view of the mainline in Oneonta.
Gons but not forgotten. Like that you look at the whole picture: stations, background etc.
Thanks for watching
So cool. We watched this video twice. Thanks. So enjoyed it. ❤😊
Magnificent video, I like it 5 stars, watching the the trains coming by and pass at the railroad crossing was amazing, you are the best, keep it up, when i travel to Ohio and do trainspotting with you, i will see the difference between the European train and the US trains, and also, i will learn the history of the US railway.
Thank you very much!
@@JawToothno problem, what do you think about my idea on travel to the USA and film the trains with one of the best trainspotters, especially you
Like 147 beautiful video, greetings 🚂👍👋
Thank you! Cheers!
Another great video of a lot of Trains
on the tracks, the old stations and the
pets Norfie,Chessie and Loki making
an appearance Thank You Jaw Tooth.
🤠👋🚂🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🚃🇺🇲💨
Many thanks!
Nice Triclops!
Yeah!
Gondola cars are like Rodney Dangerfield......they get no respect. It's always nice when you catch a big train on that line. That porta-john on that big mound of dirt in town just isn't right.
That porta John is pretty funny
Very Cool Video!!! Thanks for posting!!
Glad you enjoyed it
The light power move was cool!
Cool mixed power train JT. 😊😊😊
Thanks! 👍
Those engines i noticed a U.P. CSX and a BNSF. Cool video.Nice catches.
Thank you very much!
Congratulations on 300K subscribers!
Thanks Jeff!
@@JawTooth I have also really enjoyed looking at the different perspectives when you and 1960gambit are filming the same locations. I think it's great when you are out railfanning together and with other rail channel creators!
Nice to see ex-UP, ex-CSX and ex-BNSF locomotives on a same train eh! Great video my Jaw. :) Your Canadian friend
Thank you very much!
Amazing videos jaw tooth keep up the good work
Thanks a ton!
Love solo loco. Nice to see a centerbeam car at the end. Love norfie❤
Thanks for watching!
Cool shortline mainlining, big action for sure. I'll take the deadhead too. Great video, liked it much. Thanks JT!
thanks for watching!
I&O great video thanks Brian very enjoyable
Thanks 👍
Very enjoyable video, the restored freight station the cat and dogs
thanks!
Fast train locomotives is very colorful . I like it . Thank you very much
Thank you very much!
Thank you for todays, JT!
My pleasure!
One of those towns I had to look up in the official guide and 60 years ago still had three passenger trains each way two of which stopped each way including the National Limited. It easily explains the long brick platform near where the depot was but when you have the picture of the train going away you can see the nipped off second track and house track for the depot. When you look at the names of the towns on this line there really aren't many big or memorable places and it shows a major line that got downgraded. On occasion I check agricultural videos and the ad before your tape was for Mosaic fertilizer and indeed the train that went by had several MOCX covered hoppers carrying phosphate. For Halloween make sure Norfie stays inside lest someone want to monkey around with a black cat. Here's to the regional lines that keep service going to areas the big guys don't want to go to anymore
I remember this location,cool place to video👍
JT,
During the first train run-by, you were standing on brick pavers. Was there a passenger station there at one point in time?
Yes there was
Happy New Year 🎉 Jawtooth!!!!
I wasn't expecting the second train to be just one engine & no railcars. Still cool.
Thanks for watching!
Great video, I like it quite a lot. I'm wanting to catch those new dash nines they got and those SD60Ms I think is what the old Union Pacific locomotive is.
Cool, thanks! Yes, the UP is SD60M and the ex CSX is SD50-2
I thought so! I've seen two of the SD60M ones in Lima but not up close.
That first catch Jawtooth it looks like they used to be an old train station there due to the red bricks in the ground next to the railroad tracks.
Yes but I have never seen a picture of it.
What I like is when they restore stations. Steven Sipes
Me too. They have a restored freight depot just down the track there in Blanchester, I should have filmed it
That's a cool patched set of locomotives! Without your description, there's no way to tell what railroad this is.
Thank you very much!
"I went back to Ohio and my city was gone. There was no train station....." 🎵🎶🎵
Excellent video, JT. Really enjoy watching your videos while I work. (I program and have your videos playing on another screen sort of like a complex screensaver.)
Great to hear! I appreciate your support!
Awesome video, yeah that train was long.
Thank you very much!
Great video today JT! 😊😊😊❤❤❤❤
Thank you 😁
Very impressive !! Nice to see!!
Thanks for visiting
Awesome video but wait there’s more 👍😎🚂🇺🇸👍
There always is lol
I like seeing some of the old code line
Me too. I look for it
Hi JT: Whoah! Was that first train a full "unit train" (120 cars)? I didn't count. I'll just have to watch it again. Lol. Thanks for sharing! DM 👍
No, it wasn't a unit train. It had cars for multiple customers and locations. That was a good one for a short line for sure. Thanks for watching!
Great Video!
Thanks!
hello jaw it's is randy and i like yours video is cool thanks jaw friends randy
Thanks my friend Randy!
Is that a blue toilet on that mound of dirt 😂😂😂😂
Someone has a sense of humour ❤❤❤
Yes lol
10:15 We got ourselves a -runner- walker!
Like the places the video is shot.
If you ever get a flock of sheep... you have the right dog to keep them in check.
Great catches and awesome video jaw tooth
thanks for watching my videos!
89 cars 53 gondolas! I have never seen that many gondolas on a train before!
Actually I was hoping it was going to be longer. A Railfan tip that I got was wrong but it was a good one. I have a video in Indiana with well over a hundred gons on a unit train
@@JawTooth WOW!
Was Blanchester once part of the old B&O main between Cincinnati & Parkersburg? As I recall riding the National Limited (many years ago) we passed through Blanchester & one night we got stopped in Greenfield due to an auto stopped on the rails ahead of us east bound.
Yes, that is correct. It was cut at Greenfield in the mid 80s. I rode Amtrak through there in 79
Thanks, Jaw Tooth.
thank for watching!
Ex UP, Ex CSX, and an Ex BNSF!
Thanks for the video
thanks for watching!
Great catch, I bet some people at the crossings were having a hissy fit, thinking there was no end to this one lol. Was the brickwork next to the track the old road? Thanks for making your videos so interesting. ^_^
That was a platform for people to get on the train a long time ago
Oh Lord, showed my age right there LOL it has been a year or two since I've actually seen one 😂 t.y. for reply, 😊
Hi Jawtooth, I watch your videos everyday and really enjoy them. My Birthday is November 3rd and I was hoping to get a shout out. Thanks.
Sure, I will do that and Happy Birthday Barbara!
Good video Jawtooth
Thanks!
Nice tri-clops and was that a SD50 trailing?
Yes, an SD50-2 to be exact
Nice Video
Thanks
I thought you caught IORY was emptying the gondola yard again. Saw you standing on pavers for the first segment. Is that where the station was? Thanks for sharing. 👍
No, this is not the location where the old abandoned station is going to be torn down. The station is still standing. I checked a couple days ago. The location in this video shows where a station used to be with the stone pavers. I got both sides of the same train and made two videos.
@@JawToothThanks for the additional information.
cool
I noticed all of the brick paving. Did there used to be a passenger station there?
Years, eons ago
I think of all the trains I have seen on your channel that the first one was the ugliest looking one of them all from the amount of graffiti to the old age looking component of the cars! Thanks and have a great day!
Very interesting. Have a great day and thanks for watching!
I enjoyed the video👍👍
I'm glad!
Awesome 👍
Thanks 🤗
@@JawTooth You're welcome 👍🙂
