I remember the first time riding an M1 and being blown away. Ok modern bikes have more suspension travel, but of boy you could ride anything on an M1. Made me fall in love with Intense bikes.
I loved the segment about the M1. Please do more segments like that. Also, please do a segment elaborating on why the M1 was so successful. Was it just popular or was there something about the design that made it better?
Tire compounds will age faster exposed to UV's heat and humidity but also a not very commonly known issue with vulcanised rubber is that's its also subject to fungus, enzymes & bacterias literally eating the rubber, dry rot is a form of visible degradation but it might be already going on, dry and clean the tire and swipe a dry cloth on it, if rubber residues are left on the cloth it's time to switch 😂
#askgmbntech - loving the in-depth bike frame section - how about Iron Horse Sunday? History of the V10? or why all bikes look like a Session? Failing that the Myst from Milton Keynes to World Champs and back again?
Geeez! Kids, that's why you don't use Ardents for mud! Also, not a hairdresser just a construction worker... however I have been cutting my own hair since 16, my friends and my son's forever, so maybe I should look at a career change. Anna, I just think you're too pretty not to have a cute shorter cut to highlight your face more. I love Owen's hair regardless, it always looks great shaggy or short.
I own an intense M1 04 edition. For her to say scrap metal. That was so wrong the intense M1 is iconic. And all the people who masked the M1 if they knew how great that frame was …..Shawn Palmer put it on the map sent it to mainstream. I own two intense cycles bikes. M1 04 edition. M6 2015 edition I think or 2016.
I've seen that same bike at a friend's house who owns some property that we use when we go to Romania (just outside of Transylvania) and I tried to ride it but it's not easy. The bike is an M1 and it's definitely a knarly looking bike. The friend who owns it, doesn't ride (he's an older guy). I didn't know that it had such a rich history. Cool.
Happy holidays guys, and see you next year. Anna, your hair is always beautiful, it’s the opposite, how can it look that good when your on the trails, Owen your looks are legendary too, didn’t want to make you feel left out. Best hair duo on the internet 👱♀️🧑🏻🦱
Thanks for the history lesson on the m1,and is that vintage bike for sale 😉or are there collectors who might part with one .love the content cheers 🍻happy holidays.
sounds like you totally miss understood the question, well from my view anyway. he wont' be riding his bike for a while because he'll be healing. so wanted to know if his tyres will be ok while the bike is stored.
Palmer helped develop the M1 but Jeff Stebbens was too cheap to give him a proper sponsorship. It was Specialized that he rode for the majority of his career. From wiki: By the end of the biking season, Palmer was number five in the World Cup rankings and seventh in the NORBA National Championship Series.[4] Palmer's debut year landed him a $300,000 annual contract with Mountain Dew Specialized Bicycles team, making Palmer the highest-paid mountain biker in the world.[11]. The M1 was a great performer but they broke like kindling wood & Stebbens was an A-hole about warranties unless you were a pro back then. It was one of the reasons that I picked Specialized at the time. All the M1 really did was copy the FSR (and paid a hefty price in lawsuits as a result). I remeber going through the tech area at the Nationals back then, and every booth had Intenses. We used to laugh about that. It was the greatest admission of guilt all those brands perpetrated, lol..
Naw bro, Palmer didn't lead the MX gear wearing evolution. I transitioned from BMX in 88, and my 1st bike was an 89 Stumpjumper. I used regular baggy shorts and mx inspired t-shirts. I had been using MX gear since 91-92 because I couldn't stand the mountain roadie look.

What did you think about a deep dive into a single piece of bike/tech? What would you like to see next
More story time, please! I think telling these stories are important because it explains to us why things are the way they are.
Segment on the M1 was great, vibe was spot on, more plz👌 👏

Merry Christmas and a Happy new year GMBN TECH
People wore armor and baggy clothes to cover them before Palmer.
Sure. People was wearing jeans as well, but no one was even near as influential as Palmer.
Iconic bike, iconic bike brand, much better times for mountain biking. 👍
That derailer is like the old bombproof you would by way back in the late 90s, good deal.
Anna!!!! M1 is the god of DH bikes. hahaha Great days.
Have a great Christmas you two.
Anna, don’t worry about negative comments. you definitely have a natural beauty!
Both of you have fantastic hair. The critics are probably thinning or bald.
When the world cup came back to mt st anne in 1998 I was there to see the bikes and Palmer.
I got a lot more than that. What an epic time it was.
I raced at Mt. St. Anne in the masters category. Such a good time
Halfords dh team were on m1 branded with carrera stickers on them
I still love riding my 2000 26er Giant " wishbone " bike I call it. Merry Christmas dear friends

I had a mongoose that copied that intense frame. It was my favorite bike until it got stolen in college

Bit of a hairy situation… easy for you to say

I always wondered, but is this guy wearing a wig??
What is a derailer Seems like even so called experts are Incapable of pronouncing simple words correctly
Foes LTS was the king of DH back then.
