    Mike, at the expense of revealing my age, I last chopped corn with a 630 JD pulling a single row Gehl chopper. Watching your videos becomes an emotional experience for me. I'm stuck in my bed now as the tears run down my face, awestruck at how far farming has come and your graciousness for sharing your skills operating all of the fancy camera equipment. Thank you and God Bless you and yours.

      Thanks Steve, What I wouldn't do to film a JD630 pulling a Gehl single row chopper and have it here on UA-cam.

      @@nealfigary3288 It sure was Neal. I milked 40 cows with those Surge buckets until I quit farming way back then. I wonder if anyone is still using those things other than for growing flowers around their homes now.

    Just curious, is there a reason that the operator of the Claas chopper was not using his full head width. I noticed that most of the time he was two rows out in the already chopped area. I have thought at times in the past that this was the case but never had a good look to tell for sure. This time you had some great drone shots that really showed.

    • @farmhandmike
      @farmhandmike  4 роки тому

      A lot of guys will always stay out at least one from so if any corn is lying down they get it all and leave the field clean. My guess is he was leaving two rows out was because it was so windy and the corn was blowing around.

    That New Holland with the LSW's on it, looks bad to the bone. How much does a farmer get roughly for a wind turbine to be on their land ? Great video, thumbs up.

    Mike I’m gonna link you real soon but the university I’m at is regarded as top 2 in the agriculture world (Wageningen University if you must know) and the most recent research basically SCREAMS for farmers to keep the silage pit as low as possible. Over here in the Netherlands we’ve been climbing a mountain on the pit over the past few years and turns out we’ve been doing it all wrong. Wonder what the developments over there are.

    Hey mr mike... I'm a logger/truck driver/equipment operator...love ur videos great footage all the time...just curious what's the price difference from amount of money made by farmer from silage compared to selling it as regular corn during harvest season?

      I am no farmer but I believe farms that make silage use it for feed and not to sell, but like I said I am not a farmer so dont qoute me lol

    • @farmhandmike

      Thanks, Versatile is not building tractors fro New Holland. At one time Ford then Ford New Holland owned the Versatile factory and they used to build Tractors branded Ford and or New Holland with Versatile just below.

      Mike Less - Farmhand Mike thank you for your answer and your awesome videos, love your drone shot and the real noise in your video. I didn’t know you were owned when Ford was rebranded to New Holland, love you showing the Americans farming work. You got equipment we don’t have in Europe(especially Versatile equipment?). Happy new year to you and your family.

      Ethanol just removes the starch,and then the distillers grain is used as a high quality livestock feed.

  • @nealfigary3288

    Mike question on that manure spreading do they pump from lagoon with all that hose hooked to the applicator as it drives around the Field ? And if so why not just pump to a Tank on a Truck or trailer ?

    • @lynwessel2471
      @lynwessel2471 4 роки тому

      Transporting millions of gallons of manure by tankers is more expensive and destroys rural roads not designed for that much heavy traffic.
