I love XTC. Even their demos that didn't make it to their studio albums are better than most bands' entire discography. I read where someone said that most bands wish that their best song could be as good as XTC's worst song.
VDGG, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, CITY BOY, Built To Spill, Yo La Tengo, The Tragically Hip, the Lilys, the Archers of Loaf, XTC, Talk Talk (I quite like their first two pop albums), Slowdive, Swervedriver, the Police, the Cleaners From Venus, and I like Sandbox so I am throwing GBV in there.
Threshold are remarkably consistent. I wasn’t that taken with their Legends of the Shires double concept album, but it’s not bad. All the others are very good to excellent.
I may be in a minority but MUSE for me have never done a duffer , and the same goes for The Mars Volta. Van Der Graaf Generator , as much as I completely adore them only just scrape through , cos the debut is rated as good for any other band , but for them only just good enough. Great episode that makes you think Scot. Awesome. 🎵🎵😍🤘
Never thought of listening to Sparks....on tomorrow's listening list... ....not prog.but bob marley comes to mind as quality plus.....and back in prog land..Focus?
rather than worry about 'never a bad' album i am keener on listing those who are always interesting and bear repeated listening - the prolific artists who are always experimenting and sometimes rough in their production values deserve their own accolades - to name but some of the alphas - joni mitchell, bob dylan, nick cave, elvis costello and then there are the bands that don't get sufficient love/recognition in the metropolitan centres of Amerika and UK - Midnight Oil, Hunters and Collectors, Hoodoo Gurus, to name but 3 white boy bands from Oz and The Tragically Hip, Bruce Cockburn (Canada), Boris, Band-Maid (Japan) etc. finally the rise of the album per se is really post-66 so the great bands that start in the 60s such as the beatles, the kinks, the Rolling Stones, the Who etc have less than perfect early albums because they are ad hoc collections of singles and B-sides.. anyhow great presentation and i love the love you give to the beatles, XTC , and King Crimson. great stuff.
I would have cut out gbv from my list too but not beacause of sandbox. Its probably the most underrated album i have in my collection. I love it!!! Come on, long distance man and i certainly hope not. Wow, what amazing songs! Sure, the entire album took some listening to before i got into it but man, im happy i did. And id like to add system of a down. Five albums, all amazing!
For me it goes : Led Zeppelin Pink Floyd (I have a soft spot for The Final Cut) Phil Collins era Genesis or 1971-91 David Gilmour solo The Police The Eagles’ 1972-94 output Dio era Black Sabbath Rainbow 1975-83 Styx 1972-99 (Brave New World was fairly good but albums after were tired and uninspired) The Firm (Jimmy Page and Paul Rodgers band) Bad Company Original Lineup Supertramp Classic Lineup Bands who I love who made a bad album or two Iron Maiden (Virtual XI and Final Frontier) Judas Priest (the Ripper albums and the last three) Queen (Queen II and A Kind of Magic) The Rolling Stones (many of their early albums and Dirty Work) Rush (Roll the Bones and Vapor Trails) ELP (In the Hot Seat, AUGH) AC/DC (Rock or Bust, Ballbreaker) Metallica (Load, Reload and St Anger) Aerosmith Van Halen (the last two)

Ps this was a great video that I really liked! Even though I hate rush (I’m from Canada and rush gets shoved down my throat and it makes me like them even less 😩)keep up the good work
Pps Deftones
Coheed!!!! Great call. They don’t have a bad album, do they?
Great list, my friend. I include the great Killing Joke.
Oh yeah!!!!!!!!
Along with New Model Army, Killing Joke always remained authentic and never sold out.
I love XTC. Even their demos that didn't make it to their studio albums are better than most bands' entire discography. I read where someone said that most bands wish that their best song could be as good as XTC's worst song.
Absolutely!!!!
The Tubes!!! And yes-Love Bomb is awesome!!! Yes!!! Sparks are GOATS!!!
I thought about Yo La Tengo. Love them!!! And Archers Of Loaf. Oh, Cleaners From Venus. I love them/him.
The Beatles,VanDer Graaf and XTC!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏 Sonic Youth for Me : 15 Good Albums!!❤ I Like Your Energy! Congrats Scot!!!
Oh!!! Sonic Youth!!! A good call. Big fan. But I never liked Bad Moon Rising…
Threshold are remarkably consistent. I wasn’t that taken with their Legends of the Shires double concept album, but it’s not bad. All the others are very good to excellent.
On the spot!
Thank you!!!
Awesome. 🎵🎵😍🤘
Fantastic!!!
Agree that in through the out door is quite a good zep album even though I can do without the long candelabra instrumental.
Three come to mind for me. Airbag, Transatlantic and Steven Wilson, solo and with Porcupine Tree.
Transatlantic should have been there!!!!
I love the fact you have RUSH on your list
I would add Tom Petty and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - IMHO he always delivered.
A good call.
ROXY MUSIC
Flesh+Blood doesn’t do it for me. Otherwise they would be here…
Never thought of listening to Sparks....on tomorrow's listening list...
....not prog.but bob marley comes to mind as quality plus.....and back in prog land..Focus?
New Focus is amazing. Focus 12!!!! And Marley was perfect!!!!
rather than worry about 'never a bad' album i am keener on listing those who are always interesting and bear repeated listening - the prolific artists who are always experimenting and sometimes rough in their production values deserve their own accolades - to name but some of the alphas - joni mitchell, bob dylan, nick cave, elvis costello and then there are the bands that don't get sufficient love/recognition in the metropolitan centres of Amerika and UK - Midnight Oil, Hunters and Collectors, Hoodoo Gurus, to name but 3 white boy bands from Oz and The Tragically Hip, Bruce Cockburn (Canada), Boris, Band-Maid (Japan) etc. finally the rise of the album per se is really post-66 so the great bands that start in the 60s such as the beatles, the kinks, the Rolling Stones, the Who etc have less than perfect early albums because they are ad hoc collections of singles and B-sides.. anyhow great presentation and i love the love you give to the beatles, XTC , and King Crimson. great stuff.
Hunters and Collectors!!!!!! I love them!!!
I've never really listened to king crimson I hear there pretty good maybe I should
They are weird. They are wonderful. And every album was different!!!
@@TheProgCorner I'll be sure to listen to them
I would have cut out gbv from my list too but not beacause of sandbox. Its probably the most underrated album i have in my collection. I love it!!! Come on, long distance man and i certainly hope not. Wow, what amazing songs! Sure, the entire album took some listening to before i got into it but man, im happy i did.
And id like to add system of a down. Five albums, all amazing!
SOAD!!! Now that’s a good option.
That was fun!
Rush is my favorite band, however I must say that Roll the Bones gets zero play for me.
Presto and Roll The Bones took a while for me to appreciate!!!!
......love Roll the Bones tho !
For me it goes :
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd (I have a soft spot for The Final Cut)
Phil Collins era Genesis or 1971-91
David Gilmour solo
The Police
The Eagles’ 1972-94 output
Dio era Black Sabbath
Rainbow 1975-83
Styx 1972-99 (Brave New World was fairly good but albums after were tired and uninspired)
The Firm (Jimmy Page and Paul Rodgers band)
Bad Company Original Lineup
Supertramp Classic Lineup
Bands who I love who made a bad album or two
Iron Maiden (Virtual XI and Final Frontier)
Judas Priest (the Ripper albums and the last three)
Queen (Queen II and A Kind of Magic)
The Rolling Stones (many of their early albums and Dirty Work)
Rush (Roll the Bones and Vapor Trails)
ELP (In the Hot Seat, AUGH)
AC/DC (Rock or Bust, Ballbreaker)
Metallica (Load, Reload and St Anger)
Aerosmith
Van Halen (the last two)
