When I was 2 years old, my mother died, and I was raised by my uncle and aunt. I never met my biological father and didn't know anything about that side of my family. To finally have some closure, I took a DNA test to uncover my origins.

Already did this test ages ago Maven. I am Italian Western Scandinavian Highlander (Scotland Irish Welsh) Western Baltic (Estonia Latvian Lithuanian) and England) no licks of African Hispanic and Asian in my blood but my mother was 1% greek.) So I 0.5.% Greek as well lol. All white boy here. Still fascinating stuff.

Man Maven this genuinely immediately touched my heart and brought a few tears to my eyes. My names Aaron and I was adopted by my aunt and uncle too. I was 3 days old and my aunt (mama) says she never wanted me to end up in the system so with no promise of any sort of help she took on the responsibility of me for 18yrs of my life until she passed in 2011. I understand I had real parents but you couldn’t tell me Eartha wasn’t my mother because she was.
They(uncle aunt) are your real parents, no matter what others say. They raised you and been with you for significant portion of your life. I am so happy for you and your family. Take love

A couple months ago my mother and I learned who my biological father was only to learn he was shot and killed before I was even 2. My mom had only run into him once after I was conceived but didn’t talk to him much and again had no idea herself. I’m glad you were able to do this for yourself and give just whatever clarity you hoped to gain from it!

A few years ago one of my uncles on my mothers side passed away and sometime later she used one of these same DNA research services. It turns out that not only did she have another brother on the other side of the country she never knew about who ran a very successful business, but he was longing for more familial connections as well. I guess this was just one of those examples of life working in mysterious ways.
Did you ever find out why your mom didn’t know she had another brother? Seems that sometimes these results bring up more questions than answers.

Just discovered thia channel after seeing people recommend it in other video comments and i binged every one so far. Fantastic work Maven, i was always a fan when you wrestled and now and even bigger one. Congrats in the success and look forward to much more.
I am 33 years old and married to the love of my life but sometimes she drives me absolutely crazy and despite having a child on the way with her I think in the worst of times to divorce her and give her full custody and starting over with no relationship/child in mind and.... hear me out ...its possible a father or mother that abandons their child does so because they hate the partner enough to abandon THEM and not the child. Abandoning the child seems essential to not have any encounters with the partner! I love my unborn baby but running away from it- at least in theory- would be easier than to deal with seeing my mother in law, potential ex, and the pains of raising a child with split custody. Everyone thinks and feels differently. For me I think too much and feel too much and full time job is soul sucking and so is being the provider of the family and giving 70% and getting 30%. That father of yours likely felt alone, bitter, lost, felt like a failure and tapped out of the relationship and tapped out of life. It doesn't have to mean he didn't love you. You don't know what he felt or thought. You weren't him.
I've been working on my family's genealogy for about 10 years. I've helped multiple adopted DNA relatives figure out who their birth parents were. Genealogy is a great hobby! It's great to to learn about your family. I'm from Ireland - my ancestry results are 97% Ireland, 3% Sweden/Denmark. I also did MyHeritage and got in contact with a 2nd cousin in England who sent me a bunch of family photos. My grandparents lost all their photos in a house fire, so I had no photos on that side of my family.

That 3 percent probably is from Vikings who came and settled in Ireland.
My mom absolutely loved Genealogy and did it pretty hardcore for about 20 years. She introduced soooo many family members to each other it’s crazy.
But the craziest part was, she was adopted by a random person from an orphanage as a baby. And she did the genealogy for her adopted family not her real family. Lol. She said she didn’t care to learn about a family who left her. So I really know NOTHING about myself(also don’t know my father.) But YES Genealogy is a wildly interesting thing. ☺️

Now this is something I've been wanting to say for a while: one thing I really appreciate about you as a UA-camr, Maven, is that you don't start or end every video with "Be sure to hit like, subscribe, and turn notifications on!" I always fast forward through that BS. We weren't born yesterday; if we like your video, we'll like, and if we like your channel on the whole, we'll subscribe. It's just a waste of everybody's time, and seeing your channel take off like it has is just more proof that you don't need to pester viewers into good analytics. Keep up the good work, and before you know it, you'll be seeing that gold play button. :)

Interesting stuff! I've always wondered this same thing about myself. My family never really talked about this sort of thing, though I remember hearing as a kid that I had an ancestor who signed the Mayflower Compact. If at least parts of my family have been in the US going back that far, there's no telling what else could be in there. I'm just paranoid enough to have avoided genetic testing, but curiosity has been beating down that part of my brain for nearly 2 decades now, so I know I'll eventually break down and have it done.
Love your content, I've been hooked since I found your channel a couple days ago. Been binging it fairly steadily, and I think I might finally be caught up now. 😂
