I love these Jack videos.. I get why they're a bit marmite-y, but these strike the right note with me for synth reviews/reactions with soul and character. Good on Andertons for letting Jack do his thing.
This guy provides much needed humour and passion in a scene dominated by posers and beard strokers. Good on ya man. Synth sounds mega. On my list. One day...
Shame he didn't play preset 7 more. He only did eighth notes, but if you hold the note down it plays a secondary muted note a fifth down. Probably the best preset on the whole machine and one of the most beautiful in recent memory. Feels like analog childhood.
I rather fancy the OB6 really. I think it sounds bloody fantastic. I played one at the Sweetwater showroom in Fort Wayne, IN over here in the states. let's have a go, shall we?
Hey at 0:49 you mentioned Oberheim has a new synth coming out, the “”X”. Is there indeed a new synth coming out - do you know when and how it will different from the OB-6? Thanks for the video!
I tried that beast.. it’s actually a beauty not a beast... sounds great, as an additional synth, but if ill choose one dave smith instrument, not the ob6... 👍🏼👍🏼
Got to agree with you there Instrumentalists Jade. I do like the OB-6 and it has some sounds that I love but I'd take the Prophet-6 over the OB-6 although I do like both
This synth is amazing, love it. The only thing it's missing is a 61 key keybed. Its 49 keys feel fantastic, but you just wish they'd sell an XL model with 61 keys. Would buy it in a heartbeat.
I once had the luck to try out a Prophet 6 and an OB 6 side by side in a store. From videos I had preffered the OB 6, but when compared side by side, the Prophet 6 sounds better and has better presets.
I know what you mean, it's like all online videos only demo the P6 in the way I find it dull but then I once ofund some couple of other demo's that seemed like it was a different instrument
The signature is Tom Oberheim’s. He only recently regained the rights and logo to his old company name, so they’ve started putting those on in lieu of his signature.
Taking the kidding around more serious than the synth. Yes I know: "reaction video" - it is hip to do that now. Playing in comparision is underwhelming this time. OB-6 on the other hand is the best sounding modern synth out there. Those filters are something else...
How come you never did a video on the Prophet 6 just wondering as there aren’t many on youtube that give a proper in depth look at neither Loopop or Sonic state ever did a proper look at it. Even sweetwaters was pretty short when it came to running you over the features would sure catch some views even now.
Rhizosphere can you not smell the old wood and cannabis coming from this synth through the video? Maybe that's me walking into a synth shop selling these things.
We don't have a word for it. We'd call a scumbag 'frat boy' a chav, a jack-type 'frat boy' a lad, and an annoying, up-in-your-face 'frat boy' a wanker.
I wonder if homeboy ever tried filming one of these demos without getting super baked, if it might actually come out better, or less annoying. Keyboard sounds killer, though.

Lawrence Vaughan humor is not needed when demoing gear.
A bit overacted ;)
James Reeno Not needed, but appreciated....as long as its not gaping soyface humor
Weird Music not appreciated by ME. It’s a distraction.
@@SPAZZOID100 can't please everyone
8:21 I'd buy it for that sound alone
It's currently 18:05 on a Sunday and this is the best thing I have seen all day. I also have Sky TV. Big up Jack.
Just came from the new video on the ub-xa. This thing is miiiiiles beyond. Damn
What a fantastic keyboard player. Jack, you rock.
I know you.
Shame he didn't play preset 7 more. He only did eighth notes, but if you hold the note down it plays a secondary muted note a fifth down. Probably the best preset on the whole machine and one of the most beautiful in recent memory. Feels like analog childhood.
Bunch of grumps here. Keep the humor coming.
I rather fancy the OB6 really. I think it sounds bloody fantastic. I played one at the Sweetwater showroom in Fort Wayne, IN over here in the states. let's have a go, shall we?
Sweet mother of honey, why have I skipped over this synth? I’d buy it for patch 53 at 19:32 alone. That is pure majesty. These are factory patches???
I’ll let you know. Mine comes in tomorrow!
@@eladreltuc I ended up buying one after I saw this video. It’s a monster!
Like the series, but he's heard this synth many times. Being a Keyboard guy this is a DSI star of the lineup.
She sure does sound beautiful.
So are we just gonna ignore the absolute FUNK he pulled out of nowhere with that bass patch around 6 mins?
Hey at 0:49 you mentioned Oberheim has a new synth coming out, the “”X”. Is there indeed a new synth coming out - do you know when and how it will different from the OB-6? Thanks for the video!
Jim009911 More like samples with digital oscillators.
I thought he was referring to the Prophet X. Not sure when it came out though.
You should try A MIDI SPATULA to flip thru the sounds!
Or for emergencies, a midi Chicken! 😁

Hans Zimmer and I say play a patch in D minor with a bit od D Major in it too
Jack's microphone is very low compared to the synth audio.
richisskill that is a GOOD thing.
Beast sound... but... Who program all this stuff??? Is there playable sounds suitable not only for funny space cartoons?))
Some of us made tons of 80s tracks with nothing else ;)
Patch 53 blew my mind!
Was not expecting to hear La Forza Del Destino with patch 3 - very impressive. 😘
This comment comes three years later, but I was wracking my brain trying to figure out where I knew that melody from. THANK YOU!
Patch 15 sounds like night after curry😂 and Jack, your actually really talented!! lol End patches good call on chords😂
Sounds Magnifique! Definitely not garden variety here. Saaaweeet lol.
Thanks for teaching us some Bulgarian, Jack! Waldorf Quantum is OB-6 in English; once you know about it, it‘s so *obvious* !
DUDE Sharky & George was my favourite! Ps. Patch 015 with the mod wheel off sounded like an alien scatting.

I love this channel
I could marry that synth?
I once had the luck to try out a Prophet 6 and an OB 6 side by side in a store. From videos I had preffered the OB 6, but when compared side by side, the Prophet 6 sounds better and has better presets.
Both are very good but I prefer the Prophet-6 to the OB-6. Ideally having both is the best scenario
Me too, so much that I bought the Prophet 6!
It's high up on my list for when my next windfall comes in
6:40 - why oh why did you not break into Axel F ??
I know what you mean, it's like all online videos only demo the P6 in the way I find it dull but then I once ofund some couple of other demo's that seemed like it was a different instrument
6:10 That is all.
Why do some OB-6's have Dave's signature on the front, and some say Oberheim?
The signature is Tom Oberheim’s. He only recently regained the rights and logo to his old company name, so they’ve started putting those on in lieu of his signature.
Manual mode is where it's at. Module, too. Add an octave
and prosper.

@ghost mall have you heard Luke neptunes vintage patch set?

1:15 :)
The synth levels are way higher than the mic levels of you talking. In the future could you match them better?
Waldorf Quantum... not Qantum
It's actually Wafldor Anqtum, you can see they corrected it halfway through.
Could spend $2000 more and do no better. And that was just a few presets.
@9:34... WTF ? Annoying as hell.
A patch collection of olfactory psychadelics.
Rhizosphere can you not smell the old wood and cannabis coming from this synth through the video? Maybe that's me walking into a synth shop selling these things.
First!
But for reals, what do Brits call a frat bro?
We don't have a word for it. We'd call a scumbag 'frat boy' a chav, a jack-type 'frat boy' a lad, and an annoying, up-in-your-face 'frat boy' a wanker.
"we don't have a word for it" :-)
you need better speakers than this adam stuff 😊
I wonder if homeboy ever tried filming one of these demos without getting super baked, if it might actually come out better, or less annoying. Keyboard sounds killer, though.
This dude is a total TOOL but keep on playing that beautiful keyboard...
Yup this guy annoying
Alex Senna he suxx
Ryan Loader you are a liberal snowflake.
Spiral Architect a bad one.
Dsi´s best synth by far. But this dedmonstration is far from good.
Lay off the CAFFEINE.
This guy is always shouting and screaming, annoying is an understatement
I don’t need comedy mixed with my synth demos.

Well, we like it 👍
