I have had one for almost 6 months. Love it. I used to play it in my local music store every week for months until I had enough to buy it cash. Glad to have it now. It's definitely a keeper

I look at your videos as if I’m watching a talk show. I listen to you guys everyday. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

I don't own a keyboard, and I can't play keys, but I really get a lot from these videos. What was an alien subject is now approachable and enjoyable.
I would, however, enjoy a bit more chat about crisps.

Top vibe. You guys are great, and it's a joy to see a brand rep really getting into it and having a laugh too. This format rocks.

Jack is the best thing for selling synths. Perhaps the best thing on the internet. Great work!

HA! I love the shoutout to Nick in the PWM moment! lol
Also, I want every friggin piece of gear on this "buffet" =| I'm a singer/guitar player first, but Korg makes at least half the things tempting me to go down the synth-y rabbit hole! ARP Odyssey chief among them! Keep up the great work!

Thank you for these fantastic and entertaining reviews. I live in the northwest US. I promise on my next trip to the UK, I'll stop by and buy stuff. Cheers.

The original Dr Who theme was recorded in 1963, almost 10 years before the ARP odyssey came out, and Delia Derbyshire hated synths, so I don’t think it was used on the original. It was probably used on the Peter Howell version which was the theme in the late 70s/early 80s (end of Tom Baker through to Colin Baker). I don’t know much about synths, but I do know my Dr Who.

james fairlie there's a video on UA-cam from the '80s where Peter Howell talks through and demonstrates how he recorded the '80s theme and the Arp plays a big part in it!

Also there is a video about how Delia Derbyshire created the main melody with a utility oscillator and a tape machine :D

Totally agree...the Radiophonic Workshop recorded it long before the ARP O was out.

IIRC she did it mostly by splicing samples on tape. Saw a documentary about that, amazing how much patience it must take to do that.

Have to correct Luke. The original Doctor Who theme was done using oscillators and tape loops of ¨found sounds¨. The ARP Odyssey didn't even exist in 1963. In fact the first Moog synth didn't come to market until 1964.

Arp odyssey was used on Elton John Rocketman and NIN less than. Good examples to hear this beast in action.

    The module version
is boss. 44 keys is the way to synth.

    • @troublesomecorsair
      @troublesomecorsair 6 років тому

Yup. The DSI Pro2 or Vermona '14, for instance. It's a nifty length. The Odyssey FS would have been a bullseye but the keys are equally flimsy compared to the mini version. The module is superb, imo.
