Kari Lake in Panic Mode, Pretends to Oppose Civil War-Era Abortion Ban Upheld by AZ Supreme Court
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 кві 2024
- Arizona’s Supreme Court upheld a Civil War-era near-total abortion ban, but thankfully, the State’s Democratic Attorney General has said she won’t enforce it. Nonetheless, the ruling has put the GOP’s U.S. Senate candidate, Kari Lake, in an awkward position. Lake has recently tried to downplay her opposition to abortion, and claims to support a “state’s rights” approach like Trump, but due to the unpopularity of this draconian law, she’s now coming out against her own state’s position on abortion.

Abortion is a women's health issue not a political game
You people (pro-baby murder people) are just like TERFs.
To Republicans, a women’s heath is political…
b-b-b-but life is sacred!!! You cant murder a baby!!! (proceeds to send troops to isreal/palistine/ukrane or literally any global conflict.) Its all a morality game for them.
I don't understand how a woman could vote for Trump!
TERFs held the door open for this with body autonomy issues.
As an Arizona resident, my jaw literally dropped at this ruling. We have laws on the books that were enacted by ELECTED members of our STATE's legislature. How they can justify reverting back to a law that predates statehood is mind boggling, and surely had to involve a whole lot of mental gymnastics by extremists who wanted any excuse to ban abortion.
But our AG has already stated clearly that no one in AZ is going to be prosecuted for violating this law.
Ultimately, the net effect is that the court just handed Democrats the whole election on a silver platter. Arizona will be a blue state after the election.
🤞
I have no nails to begin with but chewed them down regardless. And yes thank goodness we voted Hobbs & Mays in!
I hope you're right.
People can be interesting and vote against their own interests.
To think that Mayes almost lost by less than 500 votes
Incredibly stupid they seem incapable of ever learning lessons.
Politicians should be prosecuted for practicing medicine without a license
I love this take 😂
Can we also include insurance companies too
Ugh. Pro-deathers like you almost never adress the anti abortion position in context.
That would involve politicians staying in their lane. (they dont)
Right? I thought that was a law?
And why are Physicians across the country not putting their voices together and standing up for their profession and their patients????
Disgusting that they are willing to send a woman that they know is in medical danger home to become 'sick enough' to deserve medical service and not speak out against it is yet something else I cannot fathom.
Do the nurses have to clean this mess up too?
Congratulations to the Arizona Supreme Court for handing 11 electoral votes to Biden.
Arizona really is the second best possible state this could've happened for him in.
I still wouldn't count on it but it's a definite possibility.
Lake is one heck of a RINO for us, isn't she? Please go to any of her social pages and thank her publicly for turning AZ 💙💙💙 Let her take SOME pride in her work 😁
{{I think she is secretly the inverse of Q - I'll update you all as I uncover more}}
Don't celebrate too early. Many can't be trusted.
My thoughts exactly
Arizonans, vote blue.
As an Arizonan, I can’t emphasize enough just how much of a leftward shift this state has undergone in recent years. It’s thanks in no small part to immense organizing, activism and hard work from lefties all across the state. The left here is galvanized, energized and tuned in. The state Supreme Court knows they’re the last domino to fall, and they’re desperate. That’s where this ruling comes from.
And don't forget - 2 of the justices who voted with the majority are also up for reelection in November. I hope they have their retirement plans set.
I really hope so because I grew up there and worry about my family. Especially due to the changing climate.
I'm a valley guy too. This will be solved. Michigan flipped all blue. We'll get it done here.
I remember the various Bernie delegations out in the Southwest making a lot of noise.
@@vanessajazp6341yes indeed! As though we can't review every case they ruled on & more in their PUBLIC PROFILE!
1864 in AZ the age of consent was 10.
Ew, I hope the court won't allow that one to be again... I wouldn't hold my breath tho😒
Matt Walsh: Ahhh, the good old days
Ye Gods....
*Happy Matt Walsh noises
@@unknownuser5895 😂 I love that Malsh Walsh’s reputation means two people immediately jump to thinking it would make him happy
People’s right to control their own bodies should not be a political issue
Tell that to the TERFs who held the door open for this kind of thing.
Thats ironically literally what 99% of political substance is about :D
To top off the absurdity, Arizona was not even a state until 1912, yet they are allowing an 1864 ruling to be enforced by next week. What a win for Democrats
Lake is pure evil 👿 🗑️
I'm voting down ballot blue. Because of this law trump just lost Arizona
Florida is going to go blue, too. I find it hilariously ironic that the issue of abortion, which is only an issue because of deeply religious Trump supporters, could be the single biggest issue that ends up losing the election for Trump. You can't get much more delicious irony.
When your foe is making a mistake - don't stop him 😂
Well, at least we know what time period these people thought America was great.....
That's an insightful comment
Aside from The Emancipation Proclamation. Why is anything from The Civil War era still being enforced? 🤦🏿♂️🤦🏽♀️
I dont think it is, congress had to ratify a bill or something that was like the proclamation but could be long term binding
What I like about this ancient law is that it still does not recognise a foetus as a person, the sentence is less than even manslaughter and is its own law rather than intergrating abortion into murder laws.
The foetus isn't a person to the people in charge of the forced-birth movement, they just don't think women should have that power, much like people in power in the past who thought women shouldn't vote.
It’s always been, and only been, about men controlling women, and using made-up religious doctrine to enforce that control. This is the same for the mass religions that exist in general, of course.
Tell me again... Who is the Party of Big Government?
They're only against government interference when it's positive.
Becoming pregnant now is a terrifying prospect, even if you want a baby. Anyone can develop life-threatening complications that will then be ignored. Having worked in a church school, a colleague of mine was against abortion for ANY reason. Until her daughter had an ectopic pregnancy. Then she was on a plane to go help her daughter get through the abortion. Everything changes when someone you love suddenly NEEDS an abortion.
Wow, an American conservative with an inconsistent philosophical position? Shocker.
What a garbage country we live in.
So let’s commit to making it a better one.
@@sueokada6968: you can start by not voting for oppressors.
Republicans Straight outta The Handmaid's Tale.
You people (pro-baby murder people) are just like TERFs.
I also want to point out the newest abortion ban on the AZ law books was a legislative law. That's due to the fact that Arizonans wouldn't have voted for it. In fact most of the state is more progressive than the legislature. Which is why the AZ legislature is trying to make it easier for citizen initiated bills to be sued for being unconstitutional and making it harder to collect signatures. This legislature is crazy.
Looks like Arizona is going to turn blue thanks to this ruling. Time to vote Republicans out.
Keep exposing Kari Snake 👏👏👏
"turd that wont go away" 🤣 Mike
Unflushable! 🤦
This is coming from the same crowd that keeps cheering on a second Civil War, so it's unsurprising.
They do that because they know the Democrats would rollover like j6 where they just ran away because they know shooting at a crowd of whites is a no go. Especially all of those white people because they were like business owners and stuff. if democrats had a backbone and wanted the poor to defend themselves and their rights and liberties this stuff would be different. And you would see a more Muscular democratic party with some actual backbone and spine but that’s not gonna happen. Because Democrats are controlled opposition
Hand Maids tales in real life. lol
Pro-baby killers like yourself summarize the phrase "when you're used to privilege, equality feels like oppression" very well.
Dog caught the car. 😂
And now it's shagging the hell out of it....
As an 86 year old man it astounds me that any woman with common sense and dignity could ever vote for the Republican’s who keep pulling this crap
The problem is, doctors aren’t going to perform abortions with this law on the books even if Gov Hobbs said the Attorney General won’t enforce it. I believe the law is going to have devastating effects for women despite what Governor Hobbs said.
I mean, it helps to broadcast who isn't gonna prosecute. Cause so what if the AZ Supreme Disappointment ruled on it? They can't actually enforce anything on their own, but the AG DOES have all that authority at their disposal.
@@MrMarket1987 oh, absolutely. I agree it helps. I just know from seeing how these laws have been playing out throughout the country where medical professionals take an over abundance of caution when it comes to their license. Also, individual police departments could decide to arrest the doctor if someone turns them in for breaking the law. Even if the AG doesn’t prosecute, it’s still a violation of the law and cops can arrest the doctor for breaking it even if they know it won’t be enforced. And rogue prosecutors throughout the state could try and prosecute it anyway despite what the AG says. We’ve seen mass amounts of infighting in states with MAGA and forced-birthers who will put their jobs on the line to get their draconian laws enforced. I don’t doubt it’ll happen in Arizona too where their government is so polarized. It’s just maddening that it’s even come to this.
@@michelebella677 The concern and frustration is understandable and valid, yes.
I voted for both Mayes and Hobbs in 2022 and I am really glad I did. I will continue to vote against Kari Lake and other republicans in 2024.
Can’t believe anything that flip flopper says. She just keeps running in place 🤦♂️
It's up to the Women of this country to put their foot down, or they will keep going! Taking away your vote is nothing compared to what this can do to you or your daughters or granddaughters!
You people (pro-baby murder people) are just like TERFs.
Thank goodness for the democrats in AZ..... smh
Utter insanity.
“I oppose today’s ruling, and I am calling on [Gov.] Katie Hobbs and the state Legislature to come up with an immediate common sense solution that Arizonans can support,” Lake said. “Ultimately, Arizona voters will make the decision on the ballot come November.” Why is Skari Lake calling on Katie Hobbs and the legislature to come up with an immediate solution? Isn't it her job as the DULY ELECTED Governor of Arizona to work with the state legislature?

I didn't think AZ could get any more FKT UP !!!😳
Surprised they didn't make it 14 days, 88 minutes after the ruling.
Do your job Arizona!!! You know what to do in Roevember!!!

Be careful Kari, your head is going to spin right off of your shoulders.
The legislature must take action. All they need is a bill to repeal the 1864 law. Simple as that.
I do think Kari Lake MUST address her previous support of that law though. She DID change her position on it.
Also, I am a bit curious if abortion doctors could be chargec under both the 1864 and the 2022 law simultaneously. That would be the kind of unethical charge stacking we see often in federal criminal cases when they throw the book at someone. Though that's a question only a lawyer could answer unfortunately.
You people (pro-baby murder people) are just like TERFs.
I thought this was supposed to be the “ land of the free”
What is wrong with people? This is a medical issue. The opinions of whoever, and consequently, laws, shouldn't prevent women from getting abortions.
Pro-baby killers like yourself summarize the phrase "when you're used to privilege, equality feels like oppression" very well.
referencing a civil war law in 2024 makes about as much sense as referencing a 2000+ year old religious text.
In 1864, Arizona was a Confederate territory and was shaped different.
Arizona Please don't make that Lunatic a Senator. 🙏🏿
That sweater can’t hide your muscles Mike
That ruling just made AZ a blue state this fall. Kari Lake is trying to backtrack on this because even she can see the writing on the wall.
Keri Lake Truly is ridiculous. She must really think we’re stupid to not see her BS
How is it that a more recent law does not supersede an old one? The law should reflect the modern day. You can’t have two conflicting statutes at the same time. This sounds like someone wanted to have their cake and eat it too
Boots were definitely on the ground in AZ to get signatures for the referendum. They were EVERYWHERE.
Good
Well lookie lookie here, another Republican supporting a Confederate initiative. What are the odds?
I live in AZ, I can’t wait until KL loses.
She's all over the shop on this issue!
I am 66 years old and. I do not know anyone who has had an Abortion. Remember to Vote The Politicans out of Office in November for Abusing and Missing there Powers.
Wow, 1864. The Seated Liberty silver dollar was used to buy stuff back then.
Every emergency care doctor and ob/gyn or medical professional that might be put into the position of dealing with female reproductive needs have to file suit and state that their sincerely held belief and oath is violated by a law that forces them to deny care out of fear of going to prison.
And like Idaho, they need to get out of Arizona until it is safe to practice medicine there.
I know…it sucks for normal people who don’t make laws that essentially turn women’s bodies and fetuses into state property, but why do you go to a doctor? For your health. And when a doctor CANNOT provide help without risking prison, then what’s the point in going? Move someplace where your body belongs to you.
As an ally to the women under pressure in states like Arizona and Texas from New Mexico, you are welcome here. If you need some advice on camping, I will happily help you find the right camping gear.

The thing that I find really amazing about her is the way she is constantly humiliated but just shrugs it off and carries on until the next one. For a politician it’s actually a positive attribute.
Scary Lake's still around?
She will never go away. Lake will make her victimhood a life long work and end her days in a nursing home babbling about how she was once the governor and then a senator for Arizona.
Oh no
She makes it an easy call. I will be voting for Ruben
Those who didn’t see that overturning Roe was an issue that would sink you, couldn’t possibly have the wherewithal to understand what it takes to govern the population of any democracy.

Kari Lake is doing ads in AR to only use paper ballots
I just keep hoping someone will find proof that Kari
had an abortion or someone in her family had an abortion and they were supported by her. But that doesn’t even have to happen to show her hypocritical, wishy-washy beliefs, and proclamations.
They didn't dodge a bullet. What dr. is going to risk jail time just in case something goes wrong and the GOP can arrest them.
The AG said they won't prosecute
@madreese69 that's Alabama....we are talking about Arizona. And IVF is a whole different ball game.
@@erincoco612 The problem is that one law, no matter which state wrote it, sets precedent for other states to pass a similar law. And no IVF is not a whole different ball game. It is also considered abortion and doctors can still be prosecuted for it if some lawmaker decides to do so.
@meghnac78 yes...and Roe V Wade was precedent upon precedent! And they stood there under oath and said they would not question that ...and they lied. Jfc. LOOK AT WHAT AZ JUST DID!!!! WAKE UP!!!

Not in Arizona. 😂😂😂
@@eattherich9215 I see what you did there.
I cannot believe the coverage of this story. Over 100 years no in legislative position bothered to revise the criminal code. And now everyone does suprised picachu face, when the Supreme court decides that everything revising the Roe abortion right does not apply any more?
The decision explains in litteraly the first paragraph, that it is not about the constitutionality of 13-3603, but just about an interpretation of 36-2322 and its interaction with 13-3603. This is the question put before the court and this is what they answered - correctly in my humble opinion.
Maybe the legislature should revise the criminal statute, if they feel that doctors should not be criminalised. It is their job after all.
Mike, are you gonna do a review on Alex Garland's Civil War (2024) movie.
I'm surprised that more women haven't gone to court and tried to get child support for their unborn child. You know since so many want to say that life begins at conception, then that means that You've got a "child" at the moment of conception ergo you need to pay child support.
When Kari Tried to back track regarding her stand on abortion she is so full of shit. disgusting she made herself very clear in the past how she truly feels about abortions.

Brilliant progressive insight, Mike. Hello from Bend.
Hobbs should run for president
How do you figure there is a correlation between an abortion ban and women not being able to vote?
Why do people like having a government? Why do you like being ruled? Why do you continually prop up a system which forces you under the rule of people you don’t agree with? Just, why?
I cried when I heard this. We're really living in a twilight zone episode 😐 and to have at the same time, a criminal running for president, demeaning the office by simultaneously selling tacky gold sneakers and sticky paged bibles...
